But before we get into the review, do you like books based on Chanakya's teachings? Comment down, and share if you have read anything similar!
I've been lately looking at a lot of books which are related to Chanakya's teachings. And there are a lot of books too about Art of winning. So what's different about this one.
The opening of book states that looking into life of Chanakya is looking into life of someone without failure. And this does sounds quite extravagant when we are surrounded by opinions that success doesn't comes without failure.
This book revolves around topics like Mindset, Friendship, problem solving, managing time, emotions, networking, converting loss into opportunity.
The book talks about so many topics but is only of around 170 pages. Not a surprise if you look at other books based on Chanakya teachings, they are not big in length too.
At high level, this book relates different topics to teachings of Chanakya and brings in a different perspective over them.
It was a good read for me and something I can recommend to my non fiction loving readers.
But still I find that the length doesn't does justice to the number of things talked about. They could have been much proper and presented well to make an impactful read.
But is it worthy to read it? Yes I learnt several new things, not 100% new but yup I liked them. I'll share quotes and learnings soon, and that'll give you more insight over the content.
Radhakrishnan Pillai has been confirmed with the Sardar Patel National award for his research on Chanakya and his principles
Art of Winning: The Chanakya Way by Radhakrishnan Pillai explores how ancient wisdom can still speak to modern life. Inspired by the strategic thinking of Chanakya, the book links strategy, leadership, discipline, and decision-making to everyday challenges - whether in work, leadership, or personal growth. Its strength lies in simplicity: complex concepts are explained clearly, with short lessons that are easy to remember and reflect on.
However, the book sometimes stretches ancient political and military thinking to fit today’s corporate world too neatly. Not every strategy shaped for kings and power struggles translates smoothly into modern, ethical leadership. The moral grey areas of Chanakya’s thinking could have been examined more deeply.
It’s a thought-provoking read rather than a step-by-step success manual. Best read as a source of perspective and reflection - not quick formulas for winning.
Success is the ultimate destination that each individual craves. How or whether one reaches this destination is a bone of contention. Some say that success depends on luck while some believe that success is a result of hard work. Some even say that values determine if one is going to become successful or not. Rather than believing what ‘some’ have to say, it is always wise to follow your instinct after gathering enough knowledge from all possible sources. Art of winning focuses on just that- the importance of meticulous planning and efficient execution of strategies.
