Llama llama teaches the alphabet with daily activities like reading, drawing, and running errands. An instant classic sure to be reread if only for the illustrations!

Highlights: Teaches kids the alphabet with beautifully detailed pictures of simple activities. Includes extended family and friends.

Lowlights: The letter N is for Nelly Gnu which is a character in the Llama Llama universe but isn't applicable anywhere else. It's also the only proper noun.

Jack borrowed this book from the Oxford Public Library. I picked it because he loves the alphabet and has enjoyed some other Llama Llama books.

As with all the Llama Llama books, this one is quite cute and wholesome. I started "reading" it to myself, then Jack joined in. He grabbed the book from me and wanted to turn all the pages himself, so I narrated it while he turned. He liked telling me the letters and making the "zzzzz" sound for sleeping at the end.

My granddaughter just loved this cute story. She is 6 months old and loves to turn the pages and look at the pictures.

She sits quietly and listens to the story.

This book is great for teaching kids ABC's in a way that is interesting and enjoyable. I wish that there was more detail. The story did not follow a theme or a plot. Each page had something different that did not correlate with the previous page. K is for kisses was my favorite page. I love how family oriented the llama llama books are. You can see how affectionate and caring the family is. The pictures are neat and go well with the information on each page.

When I got to the end of the book, I wondered if we had just followed Llama through an entire day. But when I looked back, I don't think so; at least, the day's activities were not sequential. A difficult alphabet feat, but would have been cool if Dewdney had done it! Alphabet words vary from nouns to verbs to even a proper noun.

Update: I read the Spanish language version of this book, too, and I liked it! Same as the English version, there are nouns, proper nouns, adjectives, and verbs.
