I bought on a whim but has been a godsend while planning road trips. especially in isolated places its nice to know how close there is a place to get food, places to sleep or camp, and the what to do helps you know if you'll be there 2 hours or 2 days. A great resource when on the road!
Minus the one star because it hasn't been 100% accurate which is understandable because things have changed since book has been written. Still a good resource to have, esp because smart phones aren't always reliable!

Like others, I felt the space taken up to include basic park information (such as hours, entrance fees, etc) could have been better spent with more detail about parks. That information is subject to change often and is easily accessible from other places.
Otherwise I found this book a great addition to the glove box (perfect fit!) and have used it many times. Overall a great title to add to any National Park book collection!

I am traveling with this book right now. I am disappointed that it gives only a paragraph of information on each park and why it was established as a park. The remainder of the information (hours of operation, fees, directions, etc) are all easily accessible online. I must say that it has helped a great deal, but only because I do not own a smartphone. A volume like this might become obsolete in the near future.

The best thing about this book is the number of parks that exist in the USA. The worst part is that it tries to cover all of the parks in the USA. Yellowstone and Grand Canyon each in 3 pages? No pictures

A little outdated at this point, but still a great review. Can't wait to visit some of these great places!
