Another hallmark style love story from Mary Ting. This is a story of moving forward and letting go of guilt to forge your own happiness. I am in love with this story.

Abby has had more than her share of heartbreak and raising Tyler and running a business has kept her busy. Now that Tyler is older, Ian is beginning to catch her attention and she is conflicted about her feelings. Ian has been interested in Abby for a while, but with his travel and Abby's shroud of sadness he has backed off. Grief now ties them together but watching Ian put in the time with both Abby and Tyler will put a smile on your face and make you root hard for this couple. If you are a fan of Wind Chimes, never fear as you will get to catch up with some of your favorite characters as well.

With fabulous characters, sentimental moments and so much heart, I loved this book!  The story played out like it was destined to be a Hallmark movie and I couldn't put it down.  The Seashell of 'Ohana was filled with family, friendship and so much love!  If you love sweet and sentimental adult romance, definitely put this one on your tbr!
In the darkness. Just the two of us under the gorgeous moonlit sky, I could paint this. This view. This moment. But this feeling … My heart hadn’t settled back after its leap into the stars, yet.

Abby was a widow who had moved to Hawaii to raise her son.  Working with her sister at their art studio, and being involved in her son's life, was her whole world.  Yet that world also included Ian.  Ian was her sister's boyfriend's best friend.  And while the previous book was about Abby's sister, and I can't recommend Where the Wind Chimes enough, you can easily read this book as a standalone!  With a little help from her sister and friends, Abby and Ian found themselves together longer then a moment at the grocery store.  There was a definite spark between them, but Abby was conflicted about moving on. Thankfully Ian had nothing but patience and heart on his side.  So I kept my fingers crossed!
Abby: Thank you for the beautiful flowers. You didn’t have to do that.
I was going to put the phone down, but a text pinged.
Ian: I had to do something to bribe you to hold my hand during horseback riding.
I smiled and swiped my fingers fast over the letters.
Abby: No need to bribe.  That’s what friends do.
Ian: Then Lee is a terrible friend. He won’t hold my hand.
A small snicker squeaked out of me, and Liam turned to look. I sent a laughing emoji, and he sent me a heart one back.
I stared at the red beating heart a bit longer than necessary.

Ian was my favorite! He was such a good man who was kind and thoughtful. And readers will melt watching how Ian included Tyler, Abby's son, in the conversation. He made Tyler feel seen. Just like he did with Abby every time they were near each other. I knew that Ian was perfect for Abby. But at the same time, I was nervous for Abby. She was interested in Ian, but her heart still felt broken from the passing of her husband. Abby was loving, focused and I loved how involved she was with her son. Yet she was definitely guilty of putting her sons needs before hers. And I got it. But I was thankful when Ian would step in and show her it was okay to allow herself to find happy moments too, with things she wanted. They balanced one another out so well!
Swim? Before I could process his words, he hoisted me into his arms. I swallowed a breath and wrapped my arms around his neck as he ran toward the ocean.
“Ian!” I hollered.
Trust me. I did trust him, so I stopped kicking and surrendered.

I loved Abby and Ian's moments together. While Abby tried her best to keep Ian in the friend category, it was impossible to deny their chemistry. Yet, it felt like there was a much deeper level between them. As if they were destined for one another. And the HEA at the end of this book, swoon! It will leave readers happy! So with sentimental moments that will leave you smiling, a heartwarming sister relationship and gorgeous scenery, The Seashell of 'Ohana was such a huge win! With a few tears, smile and laughter, this delightful romance was so easy to devour! Have fun getting lost in this sentimental Hallmark romance, when you pick this one up!
“I would wait a lifetime for you, Abby. My heart was an empty sky, but you gave me the moon and the stars. Steve was your first, but I want to be your last.”

When I got the chance to read When the wind chimes, I was thrilled. A lovely romance novel with so much heart. The core of family and friendships really shines through in Mary's writing and when I found out that she was extending the series to another favorite couple , I was so excited to see another of my favorite couples get their own story.

Down on her luck, widowed mother Abby wants nothing more than to care for her sun, but soon enough she finds herself pulled into a romance of her own.

My all time favorite thing about this book is that Mary Ting always brings awareness to important topics like Dementia, grief and motherhood. This book did not disappoint. And I am so excited for you all to read it and discover the epic love these characters have for each other.

- please note that I got this ARC from the author for a review, but this my opinion alone. Thank you !

Abby Fuller, an artist who was widowed in her mid-twenties moved to Kauai with her son after her husband, Steve's, passing four years ago. She has spent those four years running her gallery that she owns with her sister and making sure she is both parents to her eight year old son.

That is, until her sister's boyfriend's best friend comes to town. Abby met Ian Bordonaro four years ago, but they only recently started becoming friends. Ian is sweet, kind, caring and HANDSOME as hell and Abby feels an instant connection with him. He admits that he too, recently lost someone close to him - his mother. She can relate to his pain as he does hers, not many people in her life understand what losing someone means.

Ian declares that he has feelings for her but Abby can't move past the guilt she feels from being attracted to another man. She feels like she's betraying Steve, betraying their marriage and she's not ready to move on yet.

Until she receives a sign from Steve, an rare Angel's wing Seashell with the most beautiful myth attached to it, and she finally realises that maybe, just maybe, she can move on.

"'Ohana means family, it means nobody gets left behind or forgotten"

My thoughts:
This was one of the best books I have read this year. It was beautiful and sweet. We go through Abby's personal self-healing journey and it's so lovely to be a part of it. This book literally made me sob - multiple times - and I am so happy I got to read it. Abby is a strong independent woman held back by her guilt and Ian is the most caring, generous person who is perfect for her and her son. Gosh... What a book😭🖤

Being patient with some one getting over her grief is not easy.

Romance: 4/5
Chemistry: 3/5
1st kiss: 85% in
Spice: 0/5 (it's a clean one y'all)
Swoon: 4/5
Humour: 1/5
Cry factor: 2/5
Drama: 1/5

Positive thoughts:
- I loved how Ian was such a gentleman with Abby. He was patient and managed to control his desire to be more then just friends so she wouldn't feel pressured. He respected her grief and was willing to wait for her.
- Having a character like Ty, her 8 year old son, gives us those adorable moments. Those moments we crave when he connects with our hero and we love that.
- I did think he was too forward with the kisses, but then I found out he was Italian and all made sense! The chemistry he had with her was amazing.

Negative thoughts:
- There were some scenes that were a bit cliché, like her falls or the way they landed after the wave threw them...
- There was a lot of talk about the after life - this is not my thing so I was skimming a lot of it. But this shouldn't be a problem for those that believe.

Overall:
- It was a clean read with lots of swoon and chemistry. A slow burn, for we only get our first kiss almost at the end, but there are lots of those sweet moments we love until we get there.
- It's a fast read, even though it deals with Abby's grief, it was lightly handled and didn't make it a heavy read. A perfect book to read wrapped in a blanket, maybe by the fireplace, with a mug of warm coffee.
- Our hero had the best swoon and he is definitely book boyfriend material.

Tropes:
- Single mom
- Widow
- Beach romance
- Small town
- Rich hero
- Painter FMC
- Adorable kid

Such a heartwarming and beautiful story of love, old and new. Mary Ting never fails to seize my heart and bring tears to my eyes with her contemporary and sweet romances. The Seashell of 'Ohana is a perfect example of it. This second book in the Spirit of 'Ohana series continues with another enchanting love story set on the captivating Hawaiian Islands.

With the author's penchant for writing emotional and dramatic stories with such descriptive details, The Seashell of 'Ohana whisked me away... AGAIN... to that captivating paradise known as the Hawaiian Islands. Although this can be read as a standalone, reading the first book, When the Wind Chimes , brings that connection of these characters together. The complexities of these characters make them relatable to readers. I highly recommend reading the first book.

I loved each of the character development. The setting is stunning. And, the story is touching, so much so that I was moved to tears... not sad tears, but tug at the "heart strings" tears. With each turn of the page, character growth is evident as they move forward from loss in their lives. I couldn't put it down. I was so immersed into Abby and Ian's developing friendship/relationship that I held hope that love will grow... Mary Ting does not disappoint there. By the end, I could feel that there is more to come in this series, not just for Abby and Ian, but for the other key characters in this series.

I look forward to more love stories to come in this Spirit of 'Ohana series.

All the Ohana feels!
This story thrummed every chord to my heart even as the tears fell. One thousand percent worth it! Ting has such a magical way of touching the soul. I often wonder if she realizes just how much she affects people with her art.
Everything about this world called to me, & before I knew it I had flipped the very last page. The few heart crushing moments were expertly woven & again absolutely worth it. The characters are easy to love (not to mention easy to crush on), their banter easy on the heart, the vision of the island easy to escape to, & their futures easy to dream about. Pushing this tale into the highly recommend list. The feels are real!

Phenomenal read. I again was unable to put it down! It built off the previous book, but had enough details it could stand alone. I love the building of the characters, even though most were familiar, they still grew. I highly recommend this book!

I was so excited that Mary’s new book was set in Hawaii! It is a perfect setting for this sweet love story. Single mom Abby has made a beautiful life for her and her son. The only thing missing from her life is her lost love. But life has other plans for her despite her trying to stay true to the husband she lost. Ian. He is the most caring and attentive man and he has his sights set on Abby. Can the incredibly sexy Ian win her heart?

Ian is definitely heaven sent to Abby. These characters are absolutely beautiful and perfect for each other. I can sympathize with Abby and connect in a very special way with her. Steve is the perfect Angel. Mary Ting definitely knows how to pull your heart out of your chest and put it back healed. This is one for the hallmark channel! A must read but be sure to have tissues near by. Absolutely love it and the entire family of characters from this story.

“The Seashell of ‘Ohana” is the second book in the Spirit of ‘Ohana Series by international bestselling, award~winning author Mary Ting. I have been reading Mary’s books since 2011 and have not been disappointed by any of her books, as a matter of fact I fall more in love with her books with each series she writes. Mary possesses a unique and imaginative mind and her book are filled with emotions.

“The Seashell of ‘Ohana” is following Abby, a widow with an eight year old son, Tyler who is her world. She lost her first love Steve 4 year ago and has been living her life only for her son. Along comes Ian who she was introduced to about three and one half years ago or so by her sister Kate’s boyfriend Lee. Abby runs into Ian for the first time in a grocery store since meeting him all those years ago and sparks fly. She however is wracked with guilt and conflicting emotions. She feels as though she is betraying Steve by moving on with someone else. Abby resists her feeling until she finds out that Ian is grieving the loss of his mother and they grow closer through shared grief. Will Abby finally be able to move forward and deal with the grief to find the love she deserves? Will Ian be patient and wait for Abby or will he move on? Will Abby’s heart finally heal? Read the book, it’s amazing!

I enjoyed this book so much, it a clean romance and is based in what could be a realistic situation. Mary has created wonderful and loving characters whom you take a journey with and can relate to them. This book broke my heart abut also filled it with joy many times during the read. Mary Ting has once again written a best seller in my opinion! Pick up a copy and check it out yourself, have a box of Kleenex available!

"Ohana means family, but not necessarily by blood. The people are bound together by compassion, loyalty, and love for each other. To be someone's 'ohana' is a great honor."

Blurb: Since Abby became a widow in her mid-twenties, she’s spent the past four years raising her son and working long hours at the gallery she owns with her sister in Kauai. She doesn’t have time for a social life, nor does she want one. Until the handsome Ian Bordonaro comes back to town. When Abby finds out Ian is grieving the death of his mother, she feels an instant connection. She knows his pain too well, and not many in her life understand what she’s been through. Their friendship grows, but a lingering sense of guilt prevents Abby from moving forward. Will she surrender to grief and give up her second chance at happily ever after? Or will finding a rare angelwing shell intact on the beach be a sign it’s time to open her heart again?

My thoughts: This book is such a sweet, quick, lovely read. I became immediately attached to the characters and my heart ached for the grief that the author was able to convey in their emotions. I imagine it would be unbearably hard to start over again after losing a spouse and seeing the MC handle this, I just wanted to reach in and hug her! This book was so good and inspiring and I'm so glad I got to be on this team!

Spice 1.5

The Seashells of Ohana by Mary Ting was given to me as an ARC. It was the perfect Hallmark type of romance novel. FMC Abby is a widow, a single mother, and an art gallery owner with her sister. MMC Ian is a real estate entrepreneur who is best friends with Abby's sister's boyfriend. The first chapter hooked me and I could not put the book down. The book touched on different types of grief and how our main characters dealt with it. Ian had me swooning since chapter 1. He was just the perfect sunshine positive character. While Abby was more realistic and cautious. She did have a seven year old son she had to think about and it was very clear how important he was to her. One of my favorite concepts in this book was the relationship she had with her son. It was portrayed beautifully. While I normally go for darker romance and spicier books, this was a nice clean romantic novel that was enjoyable. The setting was in Hawaii which always holds a special place in my heart (it is where I went on my honeymoon) and made me want to jump on a plane and go visit. This is also the second book in the series. I did not read the first book but I will be reading it soon. The first book is more about her sister, Kate, but the second one wrapped up what happened so well that I think you can read it in any order.

ARC Book Review
Seashell of Ohana
A Novel Written by Mary Ting
Fiction- Romance
Published 2022
260 Pages
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This story is very well written. It takes place on the Island of Kauai. The author’s descriptions of the places there allow readers to visualize and smell the sights and aromas on the island.

The story and characters tugged on my heart strings. The main character, Abby Fuller, is a young widow with an eight year old son named Tyler. Her husband passed away four years ago from pancreatic cancer. She works hard to be a good mother while owning an art gallery with her sister. An acquaintance reenters her life who would like to get to know Abby better.

Abby struggles with guilt about moving on and loving another man. Her son has taken a liking to this new person in their lives. As Tyler grows older, his memories of his dad are fading.

Ian is very patient with Abby and is happy to wait and let their friendship grow.

It was emotional reading how Abby dealt with her guilt and deciding whether or not to move on.

“That’s the thing about time. There’s never enough.”

“Life is a journey. Some roads will curve, but it’s up to me to walk straight.”

When I first started reading this book, I wasn’t sure I was into it, but I am so glad I kept going! This was one of the most lovely, heartwarming, and raw stories I have ever read. It encompasses some of romance readers’ favorite tropes & has no bad language or fillers. Just writing at its best. I would read all of Mary Ting’s books after this one.

Swipe left for a brief synopsis & one of my favorite paragraphs from the book. The main character is painting & it is as if she has entered the painting itself.

I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you so much @katieandbreypa, @vesuvianmedia, & @authormaryting for letting me be part of this book tour ❤️

After Abby became a widow at an early age (mid-twenties), all she has been doing is working way too long of hours at the gallery her and her sister own and raising her son. She keeps to herself, has no social life (her choice), and just does her own thing. Men are nowhere close to being on her radar, but when Ian Bordonaro comes back, that seems to get Abby's attention. When she finds out that his mom has passed and he's still grieving, a bond forms between them because she knows all too well what he is going through. As time passes, they start seeing each other as more than just friends, but Abby can't seem to let go of the past completely. There's still some guilt holding her back. Can she let go and move on with her life or will her past take over. I really enjoyed this book. For being such a quick, simple read, I thought the plot was solid, the characters were solid and 100% loveable, and that this was just the sweetest read ever.

Thank you to the amazing team of @katieandbreypa for providing me with an ecopy of The Seashell Of 'Ohana by Mary Ting @authormaryting for reviewing!
Also thanks to @Vesuvianmedia!

This book was so romantic, sweet, emotional, and had the most fabulous characters, moving moments, and beautiful writing!
Mary Ting writes as if she's giving us Hallmark movie vibes, she designs characters in very intricate ways, the addition of an eight year old son, Tyler, was very creative, and added a personal feel to the story.

The story was very realistic, packed with ideas of letting go, self healing, grief, guilt, and sentiments of love, true friendship and family!
Ian was a very beautiful character, representing a good man, and a very kind person.

Abby had a very deep character, with a loving personality, and an amazing motherly role model!
It is also a clean romance with moments that make you awe all throughout!
I recommend this for everyone!

I have to say WOW! This story was just as good as the first if not better. It was so great to see two people perfect for each other find a happy ending. This was such a sweet story. I absolutely love Mary Ting and all her books, I have read ALL of them and have loved all of them. With this book I really felt like I was in Hawaii and working in the gallery and even kinda fell in love with Ian. He is my idea of a perfect man. I imagined him and had a huge crush on him. I am going to read both stories again back to back. I can’t decide who was luckiest sister. Ty also deserved to have such a man in his life after losing his dad. Thanks again Mary for writing another amazing story. I wish they never ended.

Usually, not a fan of clean romance but this book caught me by surprise and had all the feels.
Abby is on her journey of self-healing and watching her and Ian become friends was very sweetly written. Abby is a strong woman who is influenced strongly by her guilt and Ian is a generous caring man who cares deeply for Abby and her son Ty. This book made me cry and that is something I don't do a lot.

The background of the Hawaiian Islands was such a great backdrop for this beautiful story.
I read this as a standalone but will go back and read Lee and Katie’s story and look forward to the next in the series.

I love how real and raw this book was! I felt and every emotion that Abby felt. It was so well written and so relatable! Ian and Abby was made for each other! Talk about a second chance soulmate....this was a perfect example of it! I loved the relationship that Abby has with her son and how she always puts him first even if she helicopter parents sometimes. Ian is the perfect role model that Tyler needs in his life and the last piece of puzzle their family needs to be complete! This most definitely fits the five star category and I highly recommend this book!

Widowed mother meeting a man she is drawn to. 95 percent of the book is about her being widowed and not done with her grief, vs obsessive worries about her 8 year old son. I could understand if her husband had suddenly died or totally unexpected, but he died a slow sad death of cancer, but every time her phone pinged with a text she was sure something happened to her son or jumping into a swimming pool first instead of calling his name. A good editor would have helped make this not so looonnnggg.

Mary Ting is a new author to me and I'm so glad to have reviewed this book.
It's a truly emotional story of a young widowed Abby, and her 8 year son Tyler.
Ian is prepared to wait for as long as it takes for Abby to accept him into her life.
Brilliant storyline, fantastic characters and absolutely loved the HEA.

Have you ever been to Hawaii? No? Would you like to go? At least in your imagination. This author will take you there with both these books. Love set in one of the most beautiful places in the world. These stories are so descriptive that you will think you are in Hawaii and involved with the love of your life. I can't say enough good things about these stories. You just have to read them yourself to understand where I am coming from. You will fall in love with these books.

Thank you to Hidden Gems for the gift of this very nice book, its a super sweet story and very enjoyable. Lost one star for the extreme over-the-top overprotective attitude of the mom, (as the mother of not one, but TWO special needs kids, grown now, its just a pet peeve of mine) but the rest of the story was great. Recommended.
