Murder at Midnight by Thea Cambert was another cute story in the Rooftop Garden series with likable characters and a engaging murder mystery. Alice, Franny, Owen, Ben and Luke are snowbound in a mountain resort with a killer. I really adored Michael, the concierge at the resort. I could easily see him being added to this team of intrepid sleuths.
Alice, Franny and Owen and lots of their family and friends are snowed in with a dead body at the Mountain Resort they went to to celebrate New Year’s Eve. This is a fast-paced read with a fabulous ending. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
It's New years Eve in Blue Valley in this book. The new resort, Great Grandaddy Mountain Preserve and Resort Lodge, is open for business and Chad is hosting a party for the entire town. They are all looking forward to the dinner and dance and ringing in the new year with loved ones and friends. Sadly just as the clock strikes midnight, the body of Chad's wife is discovered. Everyone is also trapped at the lodge due to the massive snow storm that has moved in. With no one allowed to leave, Alice and her friends band together to solve another murder in order to get their new friend Chad off the hook and get the murder solved before the killer gets away.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I couldn't put it down! I lost a lot of sleep. Blue Valley opening up "The Lodge" around New Year's Eve, and just about the whole town is invited to the Grand opening. And since the town went through the Christmas Festival without an incident Guess what? Yes that's right and guess who is in the middle? Alice, Franny and Owen and this time Alice's Granny also. They saw part of the crime and now who and why. Luke, Captain Ben and officer Dewy were there at the party and even the coroner with his wife. So there is a quick response to get everything roped off and then to be told they are snowed in for the night!!!! DUN, DUN, DUN!!!! Several suspects and plenty of motives. You won't be disappointed!!!!
Alice, Franny, Owen, Ben and Luke, along with their families and friends are invited to the New Year party and opening event at the new Great Grandaddy Mountain Preserve and Resort Lodge in Blue Valley.
Of course, things don't go smoothly and soon there is a murder to solve. As the Resort is snowed in, all the suspects are there. Look out for a new character, Michael who becomes a major player in future books.
Each book is a standalone mystery and are easily read in a couple of hours. The books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and series.
I'm thoroughly enjoying this cozy mystery series and am finding it hard to put them down.
What a crazy New Year's Eve with the Rooftop friends! And that lodge where the party was held was just amazing from the descriptions. I was wishing it was really somewhere that could be visited. Between a murder and a heavy snowfall, everyone was on edge, and I can't say I blame them. Who'd want to be stuck in a building with a killer right?
I hadn't really guessed whodunit, but as always the showdown involved the friend trio with Owen getting in his own little bit of bravery. Fun announcements were made, and now I'm itching to read the next book!
"Murder Strikes at Midnight (Rooftop Garden Cozy Mysteries #6)" by Thea Cambert is a New Year's trapped at the party with the culprit theme. Alison and gang actually get to help out this time since everyone is trapped together due to being snowed in at the New Year's party.
I had two people in mind. I was a little disappointed it was a particular person. However, I was correct with my second suspect. Though, it really wasn't from investigating that the person confessed. It was more happenstance.
Absolutely loved this one. This seems to be a trend with this series. What can I say? This series has a way with my brain, and I can't say that I'm upset about it!
This one was great! I really enjoyed that they brought everything to the newly built resort like place to bring in the new year! I really enjoyed this one because it definitely made me think about who could have done what to who! It really gave me Clue vibes! Clue vibes with snow and less old school. Definitely more fun than cut throat everyone is against everyone else.
It is New Year’s Eve and champagne is flowing for the celebration of the opening of the new resort. But soon the festivities will turn deadly when the clock strikes midnight and a body is found.
It will be up to Alice and her rooftop gang to find the murder as they all the guests is stranded inside from a sudden snowstorm. Will they catch the murder or will the killer strike again in the New Year?
This is now one of my favorite series. Filled with small town warmth and interesting characters this book was hard to put down. The mystery kept me guessing until the end.
The new resort is up and the town's citizens have all been invited to a New Years Eve celebration before the official opening. When midnight strikes so does a killer. Now Alice, Own, and Franny join the police to catch a murderer.
What a party! It started off in a beautiful setting with friends and family. Such happy news for Franny and Ben. Everyone has become my friends and I like them all very much. I love that Owen is the “adopted” son of the Maguire’s family. Every book gets better and better. I hope Chad and Sadie are in future stories.
Love these characters! Read this book first however, I know that I will go back to the beginning. These three "would be" investigators are so much fun. Thea Cambert writes a great story without a lot of boring filler descriptions. Thank you for a very enjoyable book. Looking forward to the next one or should I say the first one😊
Plenty of suspects and motives kept me turning the pages. I thought the killer was obvious but that didn't detract from my enjoyment. I like this series because the characters are likable and the police are competent. Plus, the romances are steady and not wishy-washy. Owen has turned out to be a hoot. Looking forward to the next book.
Another superb addition to the Rooftop Garden Cozy Mystery series. I loved catching up with Alice, Luke, Franny, Ben, Owen, and the whole Maguire clan. A good mystery included with several authentic suspects. I look forward to the continuing story of this delightful group.
This series is more delightful with every book. This book has such a fun storyline and the characters are developing nicely. I love that Alice's parents and grandma are appearing mire in the books. I can't wait to read the next book!
I love this series. Story well written and keeps you entertained and always guessing til the end. This is a fun series and I love the characters and setting. I love the friendly feel and the closeness of the the characters.
