Most people would be happy to take a 2-week lakeside vacation, but when Catherine’s boss forces her to stay at his summer house without her phone or work cases, the lawyer in Catherine wants to crawl out of her skin. That’s where she meets her extremely handsome neighbor, Jake, who apparently is in a court battle with Catherine’s boss. Jake is re-building a summer camp for troubled youth & Catherine’s boss wants to put a stop to it.
Catherine is instantly attracted to Jake who not only is easy on the eyes, but has a mysterious past. Before long, things start to get heated between Jake and Catherine, but everything gets a little dicey when her boss asks Catherine to spy on Jake. Her Property by Claire Wilder is book 1 in the Jewel Lakes series. I’m shocked to discover this is Claire’s debut book, as I thought it was really well written for a shorter romance. I was invested in Jake & Catherine’s romance and I was dying to figure out the mystery behind the two properties/families. I’m really looking forward to reading book two! 4.5/5 stars.

Cat is an attorney who has spent her professional life completely submerged in her work. Jake sold his business so that he could open a summer camp.
Cat makes a huge mistake during her trial, so her boss Alfred sends her to his summer home to get away from it all. No computer, no laptop, just relaxing. Alfred also tells her to stay away from the neighbor. They are in a lawsuit battle. While sitting out on the back deck looking out at the neighboring properties a splash catches her attention and she sees Jake for the first time. As he is coming out of the lake she is shocked to see that he is nude. She drops her coffee cup and stumbles back in her attempt not to be seen. The noise of Cats fall catches Jake's attention. He dresses in a hurry so he can go and confront her. This is just the beginning of the crazy situations that keep happening between the two.
Throughout the book, Jake and Cat have really good chemistry. I loved them together as they both work to overcome issues from their past. This has a small-town romance feel and kept me intrigued so much so that I couldn't put the book down.

I read Property Lines, book 1 in the Jewel Lakes series, after reading the prequel Touching Wood and I absolutely loved it! This is small town romance at its finest, deliciously steamy with plenty of emotion evoked from the characters.
Catherine Jones is a high powered lawyer from NYC sent to Jewel Lakes by her boss Alfred following a huge mistake she makes on a case. Alfred wants Catherine to stay at his lake house to decompress and relax. Despite the gorgeous setting, Cat resists slowing down as it gives her time to think and she prefers to avoid thinking about the issues in her life by working nonstop.
While at the lake house, she spots Jake Colson skinny dipping in the lake and can't help but enjoy the view. When she injures her hand while caught up in the visual distraction, Jake takes care of her and the two begin to form a bond, both clearly attracted to one another. The problem is Alfred clearly instructed Cat to stay away from Jake since he is currently suing Jake over a property dispute.
Jake challenges Cat, teaching her how to move out of her comfort zone. The two begin falling for each other, especially as Cat learns more about Jake and doesn't see him in the same negative light as Alfred does. Can Cat envision a life away from the city, one where she slows down and enjoys her life a little, perhaps even falling in love?

This is the story of two broken souls, hurt by those they loved in the past, unable to see a future beyond those hurts. Jake thinks he is undeserving of Cat's affections while Cat fears opening her heart fully and exposing her vulnerability. But with such a level of desire and need between Jake and Cat, can their relationship overcome their past hurts?
"But at this particular moment, none of that even mattered. What mattered was I'd been shown a glimpse of something beautiful and perfect, and I wasn’t even able to hold onto that. To her."
I can't say enough good things about this book. I found a new book boyfriend in Jake (yes, again!). A story of love and forgiveness, this story brought me near tears multiple times. I was fully invested in the characters and I look forward to reading the next installment especially with the added hints of what's next near the end.
"He kissed me, long and hard, with an intensity that made me feel like we were melding together into one beautiful soul."

For most readers being banished to a cozy lake house to decompress for a few weeks sounds like heaven. But for high powered lawyer, Cat, it’s definitely a punishment. No phone, no computer, just a view of the neighbor who likes to swim naked.
Cat is easy to like. She’s smart and driven with a bright future, but a troubled past. She is struggling to deal with a big mistake at work and putting her life in perspective.
Jake, the naked neighbor (ok, he’s not naked ALL the time) is even easier to like. He too is dealing with demons from his past and is willing to put it all on the line for Cat.
The romance between these two is palpable from the beginning. OMG, when Jake helps Cat take her clothes off while he’s blindfolded was HOT and there was no actual contact!
This is Claire’s debut novel and you’d never know it. The scenes are so descriptive and well-written. This was such a wonderful story with appealing characters and such a cozy read. I loved it!

Really just ok. I wouldn’t really consider this enemies to lovers, it was definitely more instalove, it was hard to feel any depth or attachment to their relationship. Also, I really wished there were more details about Catherine other than that she was curvy. Hair color? Hair color? Height? Anything other than her being curvy mentioned a lot.

I saw this one advertised and decided to give it a shot and I’m glad I did. Property Lines was pretty much an insta-lust that turned into more but there was decent character development, I genuinely liked both the characters, and was happy with the ending.
Catherine “Cat” Jones is an attorney who made a big mistake in court, so her boss sent her to his lake house to rest and regroup without her phone, without her computer, without anything to keep her busy so it really wasn’t her fault that she accidentally caught her neighbor skinny dipping or the fact that when she realized he saw her, she dropped her coffee mug and sliced her hand open only to have him appear half dressed on her porch. Jake Colson doesn’t know what to think about the woman staying in the house of the man who is suing him and threatening the reopening of the summer camp he plans to rename in honor of his late brother, all he does know is he feels compelled to help her and then has a hard time staying away.
The chemistry between Cat and Jake was electric and I enjoyed watching them open up to each other about their past and learning about one another. I admired Cat for not only wanting to help Jake but for wanting to help her boss move past the hurt that had plagued him for years regarding the property.
I enjoy Property Lines, it was sexy but with enough emotion to make it a really good romance.

Fun romance

I told myself a year ago that I would stop reading romances with half-naked men on the cover because they inevitably end up with a hunky hero, a curvy heroine, how good they each look and many thoughts to get into each other's pants, which ultimately happens. I don't mind that, but I want something more profound and interesting to happen as well.
But in an unusual bout of insomnia which led to scrolling through my free downloads, I came across this book and hoped it would put me to sleep. It's an easy read, and I got through more than half of it before I dropped off.
There's not much to the story. Boy meets girl and bam! Instalove. Lust, lust, lust, sex, small crisis, resolution. Jake and Cat start to like each other because of the great talks they have, but there's no evidence of it in the story. Jake obviously has the body - both shown on the cover and because Cat lusts after it. I couldn't tell what Cat looked like though.
What I did like, however, were the backstories of the MCs, especially Jake's. They have realistic problems. Unfortunately, the rest of the book was just so-so.
This book is quite short although it's almost 200 pages long. Jake and Cat's story end at Chapter 20. Chapter 21 and the epilogue are about other characters and act as an introduction to the next book in the series.

Her Property is the first book in the brand new Jewel Lakes Series. After reading this one, I'm seeing good things for the rest of the series. If you're anything like the heroine in this one and need to getaway, look no further. This was the perfect escapist read.
Fun fact: I like Hallmark movies. I also love a steamy romance and characters with depth. Well, Claire Wilder whipped together a book with all three. This book is like a Hallmark movie, just sexier and with some cussing. The small town, lake-side setting was something I didn't know I wanted -- but, I loved it. The characters were likeable and the romance between Jake and Cat is enough to make a reader swoon.
It's pretty safe to say I'll be returning to Jewel Lakes soon enough.

Catherine's boss sends her to his summerhouse after a big mistake in court he tells her he wants her to just rest and relax since there's no phone or computer there but she finds out that he has an ulterior motive for sending her there. Her boss actually wants her to spy on his neighbor Jake who he's in a dispute with which is preventing him from opening his family's camp. Jake wants to open the camp in honor of his brother but Cat's boss has the court issue a stop work order since there's been a feud going on between his family and Catherine's boss for years. What is Catherine supposed to do Jake is seriously sexy and they have incredible chemistry from the moment they meet but she feels like she's supposed to be loyal to her boss. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this heartfelt story to see what happens. I would definitely recommend reading this book.

Love blossoms over a property dispute. Lawyer, Cat is staying at her boss’s holiday home to decompress after making a mistake in court. She accidentally sees hunky neighbour, Jake swimming naked in the lake; dropping her coffee mug in shock, she injures herself on the broken shards. I loved the slow burn of their relationship from the visit to the emergency room, through her boss trying to get her to spy on Jake, to them finally giving into the steamy heat that has built up during a stormy night. Great romance, I would definitely read more of this author’s work.

A comedy of errors leads to an unpredictable romance. Property Lines hides a ton of humor behind a tempting batch of spice. Wilder uses likable people, steamy attraction and over the top scenarios to run away with your heart.

What a wonderful book! It has everything I love in a romance - a meet cute, sexy hero, spunky heroine, lots of emotion, super secondary characters and plenty of heat all wrapped up in a great story, superbly written as I've come to expect from Claire. I couldn't put it down but at the same time I didn't want it to end! Thank you for the ARC copy!

With an interesting meeting, Jake and Cat find that neither can really stay away from the other. Even though, her boss, Albert, and Jake are currently in a litigious fight. But there's more to that story than meets the eye.
Cat and Jake are wonderful for each other. Their scenes together are always great, from when they push each other to be better to their more emotional ones. I quite like the two of them together. (Plus that epilogue!!)
The book is written in first person, with dual POVs from Cat and Jake.
All in all, an entertaining read!

The thing Catherine wasn't expecting was to catch the neighbor swimming naked in the lake. When Jake finds himself trying to confront the nosy neighbor for spying on him, he finds she is injured. He takes her to the local clinic, and she sees a side of him she wasn't expected, he isn't the reckless person her boss was warning her away from, but why would he think so.
The story is slowly unraveled and Catherine has to decide for herself is she wants to dig deeper, while also trying not to fall for Jake.
This was a wonderful story, with a small town feel, lots of family history. Jake's story was a little heartbreaking so I felt for him, and glad he got some resolution.

There is insane chemistry be Jake and Cat but then Cat finds out that Jake is her bosses enemy and then Cat has to question the right thing to do with her heart because staying away from Jake is becoming harder and harder.
This is such a cute and intensely romantic read where their hearts and their heads tend to get in the way of their true feelings!
I really enjoyed getting to know Cat and Jake as this story unfolded.
Sometimes it is harder for me to read stories in the 3rd person but I really enjoyed reading this one, it was easy to follow and understand the story!

This is such a cute and intensely romantic read where their hearts and their heads tend to get in the way of their true feelings!
I really enjoyed getting to know Cat and Jake as this story unfolded.
Sometimes it is harder for me to read stories in the 3rd person but I really enjoyed reading this one, it was easy to follow and understand the story!

Both Jake and Cat are running from the mistakes of their past and trying to make up for them in different ways. I really connected with the characters because of this and felt that they were realistic and relatable. I enjoyed seeing the relationship between Jake and Cat develop and I loved the jetty scene at the start of the book
What I liked is that Jake was able to show Cat that it’s ok to be spontaneous with some things and Cat helped Jake deal with the guilt from his past actions. The chemistry between the two is off the charts and I really liked that Jake isn’t an alphahole or afraid to show his vulnerabilities to those he trusts.
I really enjoyed this book and I’m looking forward reading more of Claire’s books

Sweet and dreamy
The story is sweet, romantic and dreamy. It is the first book of the Jewel Lakes Series by the author. This is a light and a cozy read with a bit of drama. The great chemistry between the characters will instantly be liked by its readers. It is narrated in dual POV and has sweet characters who help each other through out the story. It is a recommended book for readers who like this genre.

Property feud leads to love
Take 1 overworked, non risk taker, mess of a corporate lawyer add 1 building a summer camp thrill/risk taker and you get Property Lines. Lawyer is sent to her boss's summer house on Jewel Lakes to rest and decompress from a colossal mistake but also to keep tabs on neighbor who is trying to refurbish family's summer camp but is being sued by the lawyer's boss.
A good read.

Started reading this book with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the story. Didn't want to put the book down and didn't until I finished the whole story.

After a big "screw-up" in her last trial, Alfred, her boss, sent Cat to his lake house to rest and "reset" herself with all the debacle. It was later that he asked her to spy on the honky, naked neighbor!?!
Jake Colson, an entrepreneur who wanted a change, seeks to restart and revive his family summer camp endeavor in their lake-side property. It is an excellent way to invigorate their sleepy lake-side town and drum up business to the local community. But met with resistance as his property's access encroaches to his next-door neighbor's, Jake is now finding a way around the court order issued out to him.
Her Property is from both Cat and Jake's POV. The story's flow is seamless and unfolds naturally. The language is easy to understand and relatable to two people sorting through their feelings but has a history within themselves that stops them from being vulnerable.
The story is loosely reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet; wherein there is hostility beyond the main characters' control due to past family histories. There is a lot of hurt there, and it is beyond what Cat and Jake could understand. They both had to "carry-on" historical animosity to a past that they do not understand.
The attraction was hot-at-first-glance! What else can readers expect with a synopsis of spotting a naked neighbor swimming!?! Undeniable attraction but in a very calm and rational way. Yes, it may be considered insta-love (Romeo/Juliet), but these mature adults, not young teens, analyzing every moment given that they are supposed to be "enemies." They did not succumb to each other until very late in the book.
This book is not the usual love story. It is more about family, loyalty, and redemption as Cat tries to see how to resolve the past pain between the Colsons and the Jones. Both Jake and Cat are hesitant to start a relationship because of their loyalties and who trust them. They had to dive into the root cause of the feud to even think about being together...or not.
Cat unraveled a bit more details of the feud and what was going on in Jake's head - pretty messed up when things become more apparent. There were so much self-doubt and remorse on things he had no control over. After that, things went from good to bad, that I was surprised at how calm Cat was, even if I was fuming inside as Cat. It was something that Jake was not ready to open up but now realized had to. Without giving away things - all I can say aside from hidden grudges, obstinancy is the reason for everything - both feud and self-destruction.
Overall, I would recommend Her Property as a great read! It should not be taken lightly with its simple plot because it is more than what you would expect in a book. It will make you think and empathize with the characters. There is a lot of learnings then later healing going on that readers will love. It also helps that Cat and Jake's attraction is steamy, hot, and undeniable, but readers will appreciate how resourceful the characters in resolving things.

Claire Wilder has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Cat and Jake. Jake has gotten papers from Alfred to stop any new work on the camp he wants to open. Alfred claims that part of the camp is sitting on his land. He was told that he can do repairs only. Cat is an attorney working for Alfred and she has messed up a case in court. Alfred has taken her up to his cabin and told her she had to stay there for two weeks to rest and not work. He tells her to stay away from Jake. And if she hears anything strange to call him at once. When Cat and Jake first meet, things are not good. She has cut her hand and needs to go get it checked out. She is losing a lot of blood. She got the cut when she saw Jake skinny dipping in the lake. Jake thinks that she is there to spy on him and he isn't going to let it happen. He goes to Alfred's house and wants to talk. He tells her that his name is Jake. Jake Calson. She tells him that she doesn't have to but she will tell him. Cat tells him that she is an attorney at Jones and Associates. This is private property, and you need to leave.” There, nothing like a little authority to get this man to get lost. Her hand is hurting and she needs to go get it taken care of. Jake Colson’s jaw had gone hard again at the word property. “That’s what I need to talk to Alfred about. Is he here?” I moved for the door ready to slam it in his face, turn the lock, and get Alfred on the ancient rotary-dial phone. But my hand spiked with pain as it shifted in my bunched-up sweater. I bit my cheek, trying to contain the whimper. The cut throbbed. “No,” I choked out. I needed to get this guy out of here before I passed out. “Are you okay?” he asked, concern replacing the confusion in his brow. She closed the door with both her hands but the one she cut hurts and she lets out a small gasp. The door opens and she looks to see Jake. He ends up taking her to the clinic in town and waiting for her to get fixed up. After she is done, he takes her to get something to eat. She enjoys his company and doesn't want the time to end. They end up becoming friends and she knows that Alfred isn't going to like it. She talks to Alfred and he wants her to go and take some pictures of the camp for him. He won't say why he is so set on taking the camp away from Jake. The more time she spends with Jake, the more she wants to help him keep the camp. When Cat talks to Alfred again, she wants to know why he is against Jake and the camp. He tells her that it is not her business and to do just want he wants her to do. She remembers something Alfred had said to her at one time and she needs to ask Jake about his mother. When she talks to Jake, he gets mad at her and she leaves. She calls Alfred and lets him have it about the camp and Stella, Jake's mother. Cat calls into the office to talk to Alfred but she doesn't get him. She gets Laura's boyfriend Chase. He asked why she hasn't answered her phone. She tells him that she doesn't have it. He tells her that Alfred has had a heart attack. She wants to know what hospital he is in and she is on her way. He tells her that he is in the hospital in Millerville. She wonders why he is there. Then she thinks that he was coming to see her.

Catherine Jones royally bungled a case in court, and her boss, Alfred Jones (no relation) insisted she take a break from being a workaholic and spend a couple of weeks at his lake home. He was suing his neighbor over a property line dispute. Cat was not only ordered to relax, but to stay away from Alfred's neighbor Jake Colson. Their paths crossed a few days after she arrived, and he had to take her to the local urgent care when she needed stitches. Not only was he attractive, Jake seemed like a genuinely nice guy. He was disoriented around Cat, but suspicious of her ties to Alfred. He found himself not wanting to let her go any time they are together,
Jake was trying to turn his property into a summer camp for troubled kids, in honor of his late brother. He didn't know what the feud between his family and Alfred's family was about, but is heartbroken at the thought of losing the lawsuit and his property.
Cat and Jake's paths crossed again when Alfred sent her over to take pictures of Jake working on the camp, and she chose not to while she spoke to him. He told her some of his family history, making her wonder again at the cause of Alfred's grudge.
Cat suspected the feud was not actually about the land, and remembered a conversation she had with Alfred years ago. Puzzle pieces started falling into place after she asked Jake to tell her about his family.
Jake had known Cat less than a week, and was sick at the thought of losing her. She did not want to lose him either. Luckily, things worked out and they got their happily ever after.
This is the first book in the series, and a great start! The ending wrapped up nicely, so it definitely can be read as a stand alone. It drew me in from the first chapter, and Jake and Cat's love story was beautifully written. The story of the feud between the two families was sad, but Alfred was redeemed, and really was the good guy he seemed to everyone but Jake's family.
