Had to hunt this one down after reading Game Over by the same author. Decent body count, and a hell of a lot better than Party Line by A. Bates!

This book was really good. Slight spoilers at the end of the review. The story takes place in the city of Dinsmore ( I will say the continuation is great they mention all the previous Locke books) with our four protagonists, Carrie, Lily, Skye and Heather who are all obsessed with a teen party phone line. Now me growing up in the early 90’s and lower class a pay to talk line was something I never heard of but sounds kind of fun in a pre internet chat room type of vibe. Most of this book was a fun read with the phone line being the central plot where people are having fun except this one creepy guy saying the teens are lazy and spoiled and they all need to take their medicine. While the teens are annoyed it’s not until they soon go missing and the found murdered that they take the guy as a real threat. Now there are one to many red herrings for my taste and the ending comes quickly and the bad guys motive and reveal were weak to me. Also spoiler if the point was to get all four girls together why did they kill one before they were all there or did I read their motive wrong. Idk the whole ending kinda sucked. Low four stars because I enjoyed most of the book (:

The party-line aspect dates this one terribly! But it's still a typically assured teen thriller from Joseph Locke. It's very suspenseful and shocking.
