Must buy for New Girl fans. The author has incredible attention to detail, with iconic quotes scattered throughout ("Are you cooking a frittata in a saucepan? What is this, prison?"), a dedication to many notable groups, including "the Prank Sinatras, slow puzzlers, and those who rock a lot of polka dots," and recipes from the show.
Ever wanted to know how to make The Sauce? There's an edible version in this cookbook, minus the "Jewish bread" and entire jar of mayonnaise. What about Outside Dave's Banana Nut Muffin? So good you can taste it through the phone.
Additionally, there's a drink section with calls to favorite moments in the series and a few recipes of actual drinks mentioned within (including the True American). The author got quite creative with introducing more recipes that may not be directly in the episodes but are cleverly included. Some favorites include Ferguson's Leftover Pasta (best eaten with your cat), Gay Wolf Chinese Food Egg Drop Soup, The Caramel Miracle, Dead Dad Card-amom Cookies, and The Jaipur-Aviv.
And if that doesn't intrigue you enough, there's an excerpt of Z is For Zombie included at the end.
It's 50% recipes, 50% New Girl references, and 100% nostalgia. Oh, and the floor is molten lava.

I finger guns this cookbook!
My cheeks are sore and I haven’t even started chewing yet!! I’ve never smiled/laughed my way through a cookbook, nor read one so quickly. The creative titles, nostalgic quotes, and simple design make this cookbook perfect for New Girl lovers - no muss, no fuss just damn good food with laughs to boot! Variety in both flavor profiles and culinary skills, Tastes Like Schmidt has something everyone will love! And even if you never make a single recipe (which you will want to, trust me), it will be worth it for the New Girl aspect alone. These sisters did a fantastic job compiling a cookbook to represent our favorite gang in 4D. Now you can cook, eat, and rewatch ALL DAY! *moonwalks away*

This cookbook is fantastic for fans of New Girl! The recipes selected perfectly represent the show and the titles are hilarious. My favorite is “Monkey, Monkey, Where You Keep Your Crackers”. I can’t wait to make all of the recipes!
