Jon and his allies are far from home. An unstoppable force is coming, and a play for the crown has left their army broken. A choice must be made to side with the lesser of two evils. Will the ends justify the means? How much will have to be sacrificed to ensure some semblance of a future for Lycast? One thing is for certain. Jon and his allies must use everything available to them to get through this, and even then it might not be enough.
To take on everyone who opposes their king means mysteries must be uncovered. It means Jon’s people must regain the strength they lost after the betrayal. They will have to find support in places out of reach of their enemies, and fast. Soon the fray will ignite the fire that could destroy everything.
The last book in this series was well done and very fun. I enjoyed how it played out and the battles felt intense and always kept me wondering what would happen. It’s interesting to see where some of the characters ended up and what has been introduced will surely be interesting. Looking forward to the next series!
This final installment of the series will leave you wanting more but satisfied. I was impressed with the amount of unexpected plot twists and the growth of all our favorite characters. New abilities, old friends, and a crazy amount of action are around every corner. I couldn’t have asked for a better conclusion to one of Narro’s best series yet. I hope to see new works set in this world!
I highly recommend you check out this last book, and if you haven’t read the series yet, give it a shot. The magical world building is complex and unique. And the characters truly come to life! If you have enjoyed other series by this author, you’ll love this one. And if you’ve never read his works, this is a great entry series, as it’s set in its own adventurous world.
Last of five books. The battle against Valinox and his evil forces continues. He has many dark magicians and so many warriors so it needs great skill, planning and competence to fight him. The final battle is fought along with fifty Krepps (powerful lizard beings) and despite a number of tight situations, the good guys finally win. Valinox escapes and heads towards a distant mountain where he changes himself into a huge rock like being who looks to be unbeatable but there is one thing he never counted on. Valinox dead, Caarda explains things to the other demi-gods and has them promise to leave humans alone from now on, and they fly away, not to be seen again. There is an overlong wind up to the series.
Well, it's done, .... I actually really liked the entire 5 book series. At the very end, Mr. Narro, tried to hard to clean up all loose ends and did a credible job of it all. Like probably everyone else, I would have found slightly different endings to many of those threads, but, HEY! he actually wrote the book!
- A great system of magic. Has lots of room for additional expansion and the follow-on series set in the same world may develop much of that.
- Fun characters that grow and love and care about each other.
- Political intrigue, warfare, developing personalities.
This whole series kept my attention and I couldn't wait to see what happened next. I loved the characters and the author's description of them.
The only thing that I didn't care for was that almost every time he mentioned some of these characters he went into a full description of them all over again.
It’s a shame we couldn’t really get into the blade dancer side of Jon. All of the fights consisted of him getting pushed this way and that. Not much about his skills in fighting with a blade. This book had more interesting details in fights when Jon used people as meat puppets to swing around and hit other people. But, meh.
The character arcs worked out nicely in this final installment of Jon Oklar. It keeps you on your toes the whole time, and the twists and turns are just enough that you can’t really predict the ending!
Although it is sad to see yet another series end, this was a great way to see it off. This was a fantastic conclusion to this series and I cannot wait to see where this author takes me next!
A lot of buildup to get to this point in the story. The story manages to give a satisfying ending but after all the buildup getting to this point the final battle was a letdown.
There were times where I almost stopped reading these books, but......I always went back cause I had to know what was happening. The magic was confusing.........I'm
I really liked this book, however, the epilogue shoehorns in loads of content that ultimately could’ve been a better way to end the series. With the epilogue moved into another book to give it the proper time to tie the characters’ stories, it would’ve had 4 stars!
This was a very good book. I enjoyed every minute of it. The action and story lines fit together and it was very enjoyable to read. I am going to find one of his earlier series and start from the beginning.
This book took me for a ride! I do feel that the demise of the villain was a little anticlimactic but I still wouldn’t change a thing. Can’t wait to read more by Narro. And Mr Narro whatever you do please don’t ever get rid of Simon Vance as your narrator. You two were meant to be a team
