இராஜராஜ சோழனின் சிறப்பு சார்பாக நாம் அறிந்தவை பல இருந்தும் அவர் மற்றும் அவரது கால ஆட்சி பற்றிய பிழையான புரிதல்களையும், குற்றச்சாட்டுக்களும் தற்காலத்தில் எழுகின்றன. அவற்றிற்கு எதிராக ஆய்வுடன் கூடிய ஆதாரங்களுடன் ஆழமாக விளக்குகிறார் மன்னர் மன்னன். வதந்திகள் வழியே வாழும் நம் தமிழ்ச்சமூகம் எந்தவித ஆய்வுகளும் இன்றி பிறர் சொல்வதையே உண்மை என ஏற்கும் நிலையில் உள்ளது. அந்நிலையை மாற்றி எதனையும் ஆய்ந்து அறிவதே நம் இனத்திற்கும் வரலாறுக்கும் நன்மை பயக்கும். தமிழ்மக்கள் அனைவரும் படிக்க வேண்டிய சிறந்த படைப்பு இது.

சோழர் வரலாற்றை பற்றி தொல்லியல் சார்ந்த ஒரு புத்தகம் என்றால் அது நீலகண்ட சாஸ்திரியின் சோழர்கள் என்பது நாம் அறிந்ததே. கல்கி பொன்னியின் செல்வன் எழுதுவதற்கு இந்த நூலே அவருக்கு சான்றாதாரமாக இருந்ததாம். அதில் சில குறிப்புகள் கலவாதியாகவோ, தவறான அர்த்தத்திலோ இருக்க வாய்ப்பு இருக்கிறது

ஆனால் மன்னார் மன்னனின் இந்த புத்தகம் என்னை பொறுத்தவரை சோழர் வரலாற்றை அறிய ஒரு முக்கிய பொக்கிஷமாக கருதுகிறேன். விறுவிறுப்பாகவும், பல கல்வெட்டு, இலக்கிய சான்றுகளை முன் வைத்து ஆகசிறந்த வரலாற்று புத்தகமாக இருக்கிறது. அதிலும் இந்த புத்தகம் முழுக்க முழுக்க ராஜ ராஜ சோழனை பற்றியே. காரணம் அவர் மீது உள்ள கடும் விமர்சனங்கள். அந்த விமர்சனங்களுக்கு இந்நூல் ஒரு பதிலுரை.

ராஜராஜன் ப்ராமண அடிவருடியா?, தீண்டாமை கடைப்பிடித்தாரா? தேவதாசி முறை கொண்டு வந்தாரா? என்று எல்லா கேள்விக்கும் பதில் உண்டு.

ஒரு தரமான புத்தகம்! அவசியம் படிக்கவும்

A suggestion to the author - he should number the references and use as citations in the book. There is a point which says vypin is formed as island due to floods and at the same time the Tanjore big temple is not affected. Unable to find a source for this.

Am not an expert to verify the facts stated in the book but the explanations given are not convincing. The author argues if it is difficult to make non Brahmins as priests even in 21st century how it is possible in 11th century. But isn’t it otherwise? It is difficult to make a law in democracy where upper castes are dominant. But if there is a king who don’t need any approval, can he not change it overnight?. The author refers udayarkudi kalvettu as simple asset change document whereas Sivaraman in the reference essay mention this as proof of deportation.

The author says we should celebrate kings because they are our history. Now should we celebrate cholas or also Pandyas who is a villain for cholas?

The author indirectly refers that all the Ill effects in the state originated from Telugu speaking Vijayanagar empire. Who celebrates Vijayanagar empire in the state? It is well acknowledged that today’s caste structure in society is laid by them.

Last, ‘we read about Ashoka but not about our raja raja chola’ is a big time joke. A book based on him has been the top seller for ages. There is a movie which minted crores even today. Most of the castes trying to adapt him. It is also a false fact that Dravidian parties trying to demean him. M.K has always been a vocal supporter of chola.

I got this book thinking it will clarifies accusations on him. But no, this is not. Written by zombie for zombies.

இராஜராஜ சோழன் என்று கூறியதும் அனைவருக்கும் நினைவு வருவது பெரும்பாலும் தஞ்சை பெரிய கோவில் தான். ஆனால் அதையும் தாண்டி அவரின் சிறப்பான ஆட்சிமுறை, அவர் வெற்றி கொண்ட போர்களங்கள் எனப் பல சாதனைகளைப் பற்றி கூறலாம். இராஜராஜன் எப்பேர்பட்ட மாமன்னர் என்று அறியாதவர்கள் கூட இன்று அவர் மீது சுமத்தப்படும் பொய் குற்றச்சாட்டுகளை அறிவார்கள்.

அனைத்து தவறானக் கருத்துக்களையும் இந்த புத்தகத்தில் தகுந்த ஆதாரங்களுடன் உடைத்தெரிகிறார் இரா.மன்னர் மன்னன். காந்தளூர் சாலை போர் பற்றி அறியாமல் இராஜராஜன் பிராமணர்களை ஆதரித்தார் என்று கூறுவது எத்தனை பெரிய பாவம். மூவேந்தர்கள் ஆண்ட தமிழகத்தில் இல்லாத தேவதாசி முறையை இராஜராஜனின் கணக்கில் சேர்ப்போரின் நோக்கம் அவரை இழிவுபடுத்தி புகழ் சம்பாதிப்பது மட்டுமே. இப்படி பல அவதூறுகளின் பின்னால் இருக்கும் அரசியலையும, அறிவீனத்தையும் வெட்டவெளிச்சமாக்குகிறார் நூலாசிரியர்.

தமிழ் மன்னர்கள் அட்சி செய்த தமிழகம் எத்தனை முற்போக்கானது என்று இந்த நூலை வாசிக்கும் போது அறிந்தேன். பரத்தையர்கள் பற்றிய சங்ககாலக் குறிப்புகள் நாம் தற்போது எத்தனை மோசமான சமூகத்தில் வாழ்ந்து வருகிறோம் என்று நம்மை உணரவைக்கும். மழைநீர் சேகரிப்பு பற்றி நமக்கு ஒரு 15-20 வருடங்களாகத்தான் தெரியும். ஆனால் தஞ்சை பெரிய கோவிலில் 1000 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னர் இதை செயல்படுத்தி இருக்கிறார்கள் என்றால் உங்களால் நம்பமுடிகிறதா?!?

அறிவியல், அரசியல், மருத்துவம், ராணுவம், கட்டிடக்கலை எனப் பல துறைகளில் சிறந்து விளங்கியது இராஜராஜ சோழனின் ஆட்சி. அவர் செய்யாதக் குற்றங்களை அவர் மீது சுமத்துவது, அவரின் பெருமையைத் தமிழர்கள் அறியாமல் போகவேண்டும் என்ற குறுகிய மனப்பான்மை மட்டுமெ என்கிறார் இரா.மன்னர் மன்னன்!

Great read! Thanks to the author for doing an extensive research to debunk the myths about the king and the periya kovil. So sad that in schools I got to learn about Ashoka but not about our own king and history.

பல வருடங்களாக மாமன்னர் இராஜராஜ சோழர் மீது பல அவதூறுகளை பரப்பிவருகின்றனர் கயவர்கள். அதிலும் கடந்த சில வருடங்களாக வடநாட்டு மற்றும் தெலுங்கு வரலாற்று ஆய்வாளர்கள் என்ற பெயரிலுள்ளோரும் தமிழ்நாட்டு திராவிட பிரச்சாரப் பீரங்கிகளும் இந்த அவதூறு பரப்பலை உக்கிரமாக நடத்தி வருகின்றனர்.

இதில் கவலைப்பட வேண்டிய விடயம், சில தமிழர்களும் அந்த அவதூறுகளை உண்மையென நினைப்பது. ஆனால், அவர்கள் எல்லோருக்கும் பதிலடியாக, வந்துவிட்டது ஒரு நூல்.

This book gives exciting clarifications on the facts surrounding one of the great kings, Rajaraja Chozan, and the Thanjai Periya Kovil. I have also come across whatever the author claims to be lies (the general misconception among people) during my childhood days. This book is impressive and would be intriguing to those who want to know about Rajaraja Chozan.
