A collection of uplifting stories meant to show readers the potential they possess and to inspire them to live a better life.
Instead of hugs, Dawna Markova's grandmother used to kiss the unique marks at the very end of her fingertips, calling them "promise prints." She said that the moment each of us are born, life makes a promise to the world that only we can fulfill. If you are convinced you really can't and don't make a difference, this is the book for you.
Dawna Markova has been a teacher, psychotherapist, researcher, executive advisor, and organizational fairy godmother. She has given empowerment, creativity, and spirituality presentations around the world to various corporate and non-corporate audiences. Living A Loved life is an uplifting collection of stories woven from Dr. Markova's own experience as well as those of her clients. These stories can help you find an untapped reservoir of capacity within--a connective force, a steady light in the depth of darkness. Living A Loved Life will leave you committed to never again diminish your mind or limit the capacity of your heart.
If you liked I've Been Thinking . . . by Maria Shriver, On the Brink of Everything by Parker Palmer or Becoming Wise by Krista Tippet, you'll love reading Living A Loved Life.
"[Markova] insightfully shares how . . . to braid our strengths from even our most difficult life lessons. Her teachings guide us to reclaim our voice, redefine our story and create the life of our dreams . . . A rare jewel and a life-affirming literary masterpiece." --Robyn Spizman, New York Times-bestselling author of Loving Out The Power of a Kind Word
I was so inspired by this book, to look at my life introspectively about what I bring to my work, my family, and my existence in this world.
Through stories from Dr Markova’s grandmother (whom she also refers to as her ghost co-author) we learn how to navigate life in a different point of view to see how our life matters.
Through wide open questions and stories shared in the book, she hopes to lead her readers, just as her grandmother did, to live a life we would love.
This was a great motivational and inspirational book I needed to read.
While I appreciated her musings on her life and the things that shaped the way she thought, I was left wishing for more about how she transformed her experiences into the betterment of the world. It seemed that was what she was going for, but I never felt she quite got there. Her grandmother was a very positive mentor to her, and her recollections about their time spent together was the best part of this book, in my opinion.
A nice read. I only enjoyed reading the author's grandmother's parts in this book. Otherwise, it was kinda dull. Maybe they can release a mini-book with just the grandmother's wisdom in it. Most of us would've had such loving grandparents with a lot of love and wisdom. I am so glad she chose to write all that down and pass it on. Loved the bits about the rebelious aunt just cause of being outspoken and whining to her grandmum about her parents :D
Dawna Markova's grandmother was a caring, wise soul. Dawna used her wisdom in choices and decisions guiding herself and others. Stories as we tell them and hear others help clarify and give the listener a fresh understanding of the impact an event. So that one can continue with loving ourselves and our life.
