A headstrong bodyguard. An heiress who expects to be treated like a queen. A dangerously hot combination.
Bodyguard Carmen Torres is a professional. She gets the job done, she doesn’t get attached to her clients, and she does not mix business with pleasure. When she gets a job as personal bodyguard to domineering heiress Amber Pryce, she isn’t planning on breaking those rules, no matter how enticing her client is. But Amber has other ideas.
The heir to the Pryce family fortune, Amber is accustomed to being treated like royalty. Anything she wants, she takes. That includes Carmen, the stubborn bodyguard she hired to protect her from a mysterious stalker. Amber is determined to have Carmen bow to her. And even though Carmen won’t admit it, she craves the sweet surrender that Amber commands.
Engaged in a fiery game of seduction, tensions heat up between them. But with an unhinged stalker hot on Amber’s trail, the stakes rise, putting both women’s hearts—and their lives—at risk.

It may be very un-lesbian of me, but I'm not usually into "protector-like" fiction, like when the person is a bodyguard. I do like the aspect of two women being around each other all the time (so many opportunities for tension!), but the whole noble thing sometimes falls flat for me.
So, here Anna Stone comes, showing that she can make me enjoy this trope, too. If this were most other authors, I would have probably skipped, but she can depend on me as a fan!
Amber's an icy socialite from old money; Carmen is an ex-military bodyguard with a haunted past. They have a connection, chemistry, and a mutual love of domme-sub play. Thank you, thank you for having Carmen let go of her inhibitions to be Amber's pet. Very hot how they could disarm each other.
The stalker aspect was actually pretty interesting to follow and I'm glad the big drama didn't drag on. Because we all know why we're reading: for romance and BDSM!
Is this the last of the series? I believe so. Can't wait to see what comes next from Anna Stone!
Another great book in the Mistress Media series 😍 i enjoyed it immensely since I love stories about bodyguards and the person they’re protecting, and in this case, the bodyguard being the submissive was a nice touch and also different, good different 👌🏻 and it was lovely to see the characters from the other books 🥰
This was my very first Anna Stone book, so I had zero idea what I was walking into. A part of me knew this was going to be femme/femme because she's known for writing that kind of pairing, but given that Carmen was ex-Marine turned bodyguard, I figured a little bit of butch would be inside the bodyguard. I was mistaken. Carmen was a physically fit woman who wore suits while working, but the panties that kept coming up (or off) in every sex scene turned me off and made up my mind that this woman was not butch. And the dress and heels at the end solidified it for me.
Stone is an excellent writer, clean and crisp, but the story itself fell flat for me. I struggled to keep going to the end, and I had to skim the sex. It was only around the 70% mark where things got interesting and grabbed my attention, but it was short lived.
This was not a terrible book, it just wasn't to my likings.
I read this book a lot of time ago (this year) but I never found something to write and today out of the blue I did. I liked this book so much because both characters were strong, none of them was willing to concede anything and it was sexy as hell that one character was femenine and the other the opposite, there’s one really steamy scene and that did it, for me.
Amber and Carmen are both so strong willed and stubborn that they are perfect for each other. Carmen has been carrying around a lot in her life and Amber shows her how to give up that control and fine relief and pleasure. Amber has to deal with someone stalking her. This heat up in more than just the bedroom. Great finish to the Mistress series. Lexy Rebe is wonderful as a narrator for Anna Stone’s books.
I received an ARC copy of this book directly from the author, in exchange for an honest review. *I do give away some spoilers in this review*
This isn’t the first book I’ve read of Anna’s. In fact, I’ve read all of them, and with every single book she releases, they just get better and better. Anna knows how to pull you into her stories just from the first chapter, and I loved every second I spent reading this book.
The Mistress series is one of my favourites, and when I saw on Facebook that Anna was writing one for Amber Pryce, I was absolutely thrilled. And this book didn’t disappoint. Throughout the other three Mistress books, Amber has very much been one of the characters I really wanted to get a backstory on. In the previous books, she was always going on about the other happy couples, and wanting to settle down, but not finding the right person. She just seemed so mysterious, and this book portrayed her brilliantly.
I was a little bit sceptical at first when I read the synopsis because I’m not really the biggest fan of bodyguards and client tropes, but with this book, it quickly became a new favourite of mine.
Amber Pryce is the heiress to a wealthy family and co-owner of Mistress Media. She's confident, fiery, and a powerful Mistress. Carmen, a former marine, now a personal bodyguard to Amber, has the job of protecting Amber from a mysterious stalker, who has been sending anonymous letters to her home, her office, and even to her sick mother’s house.
From the moment Amber laid eyes on Carmen at a charity auction, she knew. The connection between them was instant, and their chemistry was out of this world.
Throughout most of the story, Carmen is a very closed book. She keeps to herself, as she puts the two women she loves, Jo (her little sister), and Amber (her client/lover) before herself. It took some time for both Amber and Carmen to realise how strong their feelings are for one another. It takes even longer for them to admit it to themselves and say it out loud. Even a few of the other Mistress' noticed the connection between the two of them.
If you’ve read any of the other Mistress books, you’ll realise that these books tend to get a bit hot and steamy, and this book delivered! Especially the 🔥 scene on the balcony at the Pryce Foundation Ball...
Amber is a mistress who wants a submissive, and Carmen wanted to be that person. It just took a little bit longer for her to come around at first, as she didn’t want to mix business with pleasure. I really loved the relationship between the two, and they've quickly become my new favourites in the Mistress series. They were made for one another.
Anna kept you guessing who this mysterious stalker was. I thought this person may have been mentioned in the previous books (I even went back and re-read some chapters where Amber was present to see if there was a clue or something there)! I audibly gasped toward the end of the book with what happened between Amber and her stalker, when they finally came face to face.
But of course, it was a happy ending, and I absolutely love how all the main characters from the previous Mistress books make an appearance in this story. Especially at the end when they all come together for Yvonne’s wedding!
I already can’t wait to read Anna’s next book, whatever that may be. But this is definitely one of my favourites from the Mistress series, you must give it a read! Thank you, Anna, for writing yet another absolutely brilliant book.
I don’t know if anyone notices this, but I’ve read a few of Anna Stone’s books, and I notice almost every story happens in three months; the MCs will have their first sex in the 30% of the book, and the plot twist would happen in the 70% of the book...
I stopped reading Anna’s books because I found a similar pattern in her book, but this blurb looks incredibly delicious, so I decided to give it a try. And again, the three months timelines and the MCs having their first sex in the 30% of the book...besides that, both MCs are a bit plain for me, they have interesting jobs and personalities, but it all present in a superficially way. Also, the weak plot twist is bothering me too.
I’d still say this is a perfect weekend book; it’s easy to read and has rich/poor, ice trope book with light BDSM.
This is a moving romance between a tough and caring ex Marine/body guard Carmen and a billionaire major media company co owner. It has all the exciting elements, rich girl/ poor girl, opposite attracts, a creepy and dangerous stalker and steamy, kinky love scenes. A great and very satisfying read indeed!
I received this as an ARC copy but I can honestly say it’s a book I’ve anticipated for so long I’ve never hit “Download” so fast in my life. After all my anticipation and the build up of Ms Stone keeping us hanging after her last release, I came to it with high hopes that this would be another energetic but sentimental Stone triumph.
The story follows our favourite Mistress Media heiress, Amber Pryce, who I’d always felt seemed cold in previous books. We’ve never seen her point of view before and through Guarded Desires we begin to understand why this is.
Her match is Carmen Torres, a tough, hard shelled ex-marine, who happens to be stunningly beautiful and have her own intriguing history, as well as a protective streak a mile long and a very guarded personality. Amber discovers more of this as their relationship develops.
The way Anna opens up both characters and we get to know them, in her typical style of letting us know what makes them tick is masterful. I feel like I understand the cold heiress whom I previously found it hard to like. Whether I have Anna to thank for this or Carmen I’m unsure. Somehow the two of them bring Amber out of her shell and we see the real Pryce tour-de-force in action.
As ever, this is Anna Stone, so you can’t anticipate the romance will go smoothly, nor expect that she’ll ignore her trademark strong power exchange element. She doesn’t disappoint here and the two characters have a very strong Domme / submissive side. The intimate scenes are hot and steamy (again, not a surprise from Stone) but also, as with many good power exchange romances, also sweet and caring, in my opinion.
My only negative on the story is that it seemed to go by far too quickly. Though this is a factor of my concentration and utter inability to put it down once I started, less so than any deficiency on Stone’s part.
In short, Anna, as usual, doesn’t disappoint and this becomes another Mistress story worthy of its place, jumping to the top of your “Must read… NOW” list.
The mistress series is a really good read but this one just didn’t intrigue me at all.
The story felt kind of one note and wild in a way that didn’t feel real at all. The stalker was very cliche and the notes left were almost humours at times (and I don’t feel like I should be laughing at a stalker.)
It was also so repetitive (stalker magically passes everyone and leaves a note, always a similar five or so words then runs away faster than the trained body guards can to catch her)
I don’t know but for me this one just wasn’t gripping in any way. I wanted to DNF from about page 5.
Also the kink play is highly repetitive, the past 3 I’ve read have all had the same bound + temp play in a similar manner so the scenes read incredibly similarly. There’s not any variation at all.
All in all was not a fan of this one, but did enjoy most of Stone’s other works.
Content warnings: stalker, guns, sexual content. lesbophobia, references to parental death, references to parental sickness, kidnapping.
Rep: Amber is cis, white, and lesbian. Carmen is cis, Latine, and lesbian.
This was an excellent addition to this wonderful series. I was so happy that Amber got her story - she deserved it. Especially since she goes through so much in this book!
I love the bodyguard/bodykept (?lol what the fuck self) trope, and this was all kinds of delightful.
And the sex in this was just *chef's kiss* A+! Anna Stone really knows how to write a good sex scene!
I do like a bodyguard trope 😏 and it was nice to see the “bodyguard” as the submissive in the relationship. I tandem read with audio and I just wasn’t a fan of the narration. The story was good but not my favourite in the series.
Written in third person with 2x POV’s. Narrated by Lexy Rebe. Book Four in the Mistress series. Bodyguard, Opposites Attract, Ice Queen, Workplace, BDSM, Domme/Sub Dynamic. 5x Spicy Scenes.

Oh goodie, my favorite guilty pleasure author wrote a new book! And it’s also the last one in the Mistress Media series! Obviously I jumped on it as soon as had time and what can I say? It was steamy, it was spicy, it had some excitement and it was romantic as fork. Just what I expected, nothing less, nothing more.
The only thing that bothered me a tiny bit was
Pet peeves aside, it was nice to see the rest of the characters from other books make an appearance and to get a small update on their lives. It also makes me excited for the next book and, hopefully, next series to come.
This was... interesting. I can easily say I've never read f/f heiress / bodyguard BDSM before and I'm cool with not doing it again. The writing was so hollow. There was no emotion to anything even when they were trying to be emotional. From the beginning the heiress is just like I WANT TO FUCK YOU RIGHT NOW like damn sis she just started working for you chill. And then they hook up & fight and then that just goes on for a while before she ends up in her literal sex dungeon and the whole thing was just wild.
Then there was the mystery of a stalker and the answer to that was so dumb like she literally knew who it was the entire time but "suppressed" the memory alright.
This is book 4 in the Mistress Series, but you do not need to have read the previous 3 books as this can be read as a stand alone. I loved this story of an ice queen heiress and her bodyguard sent to protect her against a stalker. There chemistry is simmering on the pages at every turn. Carmen the bodyguard does not want to feel attraction to her employer. Amber the heiress wants Carmen to submit to her. Brilliantly written, as always with Ms Stone’s books, you wont be disappointed with this one. I feel its one of her best work, a must read.
I don't usually read the 4th book in a series without reading the others first, but this seemed like it could stand alone, and it did. It is a relatively quick, easy read, thankfully by someone who actually understands the dom/sub dynamic and can express it well. I loved the chemistry between Amber and Carmen, the pull between them, and then to have an exciting stalker plot go along with it made for a great read. Recommend.
4 ★ | BDSM. Rich / Poor. Interesting plot. Stalker element was interesting to me and added a sense of mystery to the romance. Would have preferred this book more if the power exchange was reversed. Like the butch being dominant and the femme being sub. Personal preference. More emotional chemistry needed for me. Otherwise, great work as always from Stone.
I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review and I immediately downloaded and read this book. I love Anna Stone and her characters and this book was fantastic. I really enjoyed the relationship between Amber and Carmen and their story.
Can't take my eyes off of you. Stalker, thrilling, and some one bleeds. Wax, wipe, and love. What more could you want in this story of Mistress series. A perfect summary of a great saga.
The whole mistress thing wasn't doing it for me. It felt forced and a little weird at times. Overall I enjoyed the book, but I was eager to skip all the sex dynamics since they didn't feel pleasant.
Writing: truthfully, my only issue with the writing was that some of the dialogue didn't sound like natural human speak, especially for the 18-year old. but it was a super easy read!
Characters: I liked them enough and they both seem like good people. happy for them 😊
Plot: private bodyguard and client have some playroom fun between stalker threats. honestly, this book was a breath of fresh air after some of the doozies I've read this year. the story flowed, didn't have any extra fluff, and the author ended chapters in a way that made you want to keep going (yay, author!) the plot isn't overly convoluted and neither is the relationship.
What would make this an extra star read for me: I could have used a bit more chemistry/emotional depth in the relationship, but I think the story worked well. I also would have loved some more angst in the hurt/comfort department.
I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
The book started off action-packed and kept up the pace all throughout. Carmen made for a fantastic bodyguard and watching her struggle with the inner turmoil of seeking a relationship with Amber was great. The conflict she felt about giving in to her submissive side was brilliant, you really felt her frustration over learning to just let go. Amber was aloof, bossy and oh so sexy. Yet she also had the vulnerabilities that made her more relatable as a character. I felt that in some places the reveal of backstory elements didn't quite sit naturally within the flow but it didn't stop me from devouring the book. Another fabulous entry to the Mistress series, I will be sorry to say goodbye to these wonderful ladies.
