The moment he takes his clothes off on stage, it hits me. Washboard abs, toned pecs, and that fucking V… Belongs to Nathanial Owens, my ex-best friend. I’d rubbed my hands all over that alluring body, and I’ve never felt so dirty because of it. Nate’s a stripper, the Owens’ outcast, and the man of my dreams. It’s my job to get him to quit, but he’s the most stubborn man I know. And no matter what he may claim, I could never forget him.

I'm hesitant to write this review. I hate giving bad reviews, and I'm diving pretty deep into some issues here that are somewhat of hot button issues.
I'll start by saying that I had high hopes for this book. I really enjoyed the second book in this series. I liked the character of Nate, so I was looking forward to his story. Unfortunately, I felt the characters fell flat. The plot moved slow. And the writing was just weird.
Sunshine is bi racial. But throughout the entire book, we hear her referred to as "mixed". I can't speak for POC, obviously, so I asked a few friends if this was as problematic as I thought it was. Yeah, turns out many of them found it problematic. Especially since it's used so much. And, then when I added that the H describes the h's skin as "tastes like chocolate milk", again, not a great reaction. In fact, every description of Sunshine's skin is some sort of food related item. That's what I mean about the writing being weird.
Sunshine and Nate grew up together, in their small town. Sunshine's dad was offered a job and they moved to a bigger city. Sunshine missed the small town that she loved. Yet it's mentioned that because Sunshine is "mixed" (as they say in the book) she was lucky that she was good friends with Nate's respected (white) family. People didn't bother her because of her connection to them. So, apparently, save for having Nate, the white savior as her friend, the town would have been a bunch of assholes to her, and she's still like "Yeah, this is the place I'd like to raise my kid" WHAT?
Sunshine heads back to town, finds out Nate is a stripper and goes to the club to see him. He basically uses his body to torment her as his big “fuck you” to her for leaving. He pulls her into a dance in one instance. In a second, she wants to talk to him, so she pays for a private dance. Both times he gets things all heated between them, but is still angry that she left him and didn’t write or call him. I get his anger, but the whole using her the way he did was just immature and gross.
I also hated how the daughter was described. She is thirteen, and yet we hear her described as being incredibly beautiful, to the point her mom has been approached several times about getting her to be a model. But, of course, she doesn't want her daughter in "that type of lifestyle". It's just odd to hear a child's looks described so much in an adult way.
Once Nate finds out about his daughter, he’s all in as a dad, but still mad at Sunshine, which is fair. However, he also knows he’s eventually going to forgive her and he knows that he loves her, so the whole thing seems to drag on for no real reason.
My last real issue with the book, and I really hesitated including this because I know with 100% certainty, that this is an issue that not everyone is going to have. But I DO have an issue with this particular thing, so I just asked myself, “Would I have wanted to see it included in a review?" And, yeah, I would have. Because I wouldn’t have read the book based on this alone. So here it is and you can judge as you will: Sunshine is a lawyer. We rarely see her at work, which is fine, as the story isn't about that. But the ONLY time we see her at work (other than when she reconnects with the H, Nate) is when her assistant calls to tell her that a "Mrs. Sanchez" is calling and she needs help with some paperwork for immigration. Sunshine replies "Good for her, doing it the right way!"
Fuck. No.
I kept reading because there are so many five star reviews, I thought it must just be a "me" thing, but, if I’m being completely honest, nope. It has racism written all into it and I’m just not here for that.

Second chances - at one point Sunshine Simmons and Nate were everything to one another, each other’s shadows, his ex-everything…at a very tender age, until her father was offered a job opportunity which took her out of his orbit.
Dallas sighs and peers out the window, acting as though he’s the one losing patience, instead of the other way around. Nate believes he was dropped one too many times as a baby and he’s lost his common sense. An airhead for a cousin, but he’s also his best friend. Dallas is one of those annoying people, but once he’s not around, you miss him.
Sunshine was his best friend while growing up. They were together almost daily. She would be at the ranch, always swimming with him in their pond during the summer.
Sunshine had been his closest friend growing up, more so than Dallas. While his parents tended to the land and enjoyed a slower-paced life, her parents were the opposite. Her father was the most successful lawyer in town, and Sunshine was determined to follow in his footsteps. She revered him and his success and had lofty goals. Her mother a well-known Southern belle. They were a powerful family, so it shouldn’t have come as a surprise when her father was offered a lucrative position in the city. She’d told him that her parents had just informed her that she was moving. There was no time for a proper good-bye, just a quick hug, and then in the next blink, she was driving off to never return…until now. The foolish mistake he’d made was to believe that they’d always remain close, no matter the distance. She left, and he mourned waiting for her to call him with her new number and address. It never happened.
It was the same day that his parents died.
He’d been too busy being angry at Sunshine that he barely paid attention to his mum. He was surly and disrespectful, moping around. He hadn't bid them good-bye that faithful day when they’d left—as they’d gotten into their vehicle and never returned home. Seventeen years and an orphan.
She moved leaving him heartbroken and his parents died on the very same day. There was nothing positive in his life at that particular time, and he was lost in a dark place. He’s a bit jaded when it comes to his heart. He doesn’t trust or love easily, and plans to keep it that way. I don’t ever want to hurt as bad as I did then. I loved that girl with every breath I took. We shared everything and were with each other constantly when I wasn’t with my brothers or cousin.
He didn’t realise—until it was almost too late—that he didn’t love her as a sister, but rather as a girlfriend. I thought with us sharing our first time together that it would’ve cemented our future. I had it in my head, she’d call me, and they’d stay together. Maybe eventually head off to the same college together. In the end, she never rang him, not once and it broke him. Women became something to entertain and get what he needed.
A teenage pregnancy at fifteen, her parents give her an ultimatum-Nate or the baby. She always loved Nate and wanted desperately to contact him; her parents convinced her that Nate was in no position to be there emotionally or financially, she chose her daughter and gave up on any thoughts of having love in my life. She garnered an incredible career courtesy of her parents’ assistance and her dedication. Part of her wondered if she could ever love someone as much as she’d always loved Nate. No one had ever come close to comparing. She’d had no interest for the first few years, devoting herself to her child and herself. She met a few guys in college and thought maybe one of them could be the one. After a few dates, she either couldn’t stop thinking about Nathan, and couldn’t help but compare him or else they found out about her daughter and vanished.
She wanted to contact Nate to tell him about his daughter. The longer time elapsed, the more cowardly she became after so long, and realised he’d resent her for keeping them apart. Nathanial and Natasha are very alike; it’s both a blessing and a curse. She’s inherited his fiery temper, but also his passion and natural athletic ability. Every child should have their father in their life. Not only has she done Nate a disservice but also her daughter.
“That boy was straight trouble when you were teens. I can only imagine the suffering he’d have put you and my grandchild through, had we not moved.” “He had a lot going on. Nate was never a bad guy—never. I’m the bad person in this; I hid his daughter from him.” My mother scoffs. “Nonsense. You did what was necessary, given your situation. Don’t feel guilty about offering Natasha a good life.” “I will always feel guilty. No matter how much I try and paint myself the martyr, that feeling won’t ever go away.”
She loves her parents, they helped her beyond what she’d deserved, but she’s also resentful for placing her in a position of choosing. She’s had years to reconcile her actions and to approach Nate. The first few years she was too young and scared. There was a chance, albeit a small one, they could’ve been a family. Her parents have always stressed that it would never happen, and statistically speaking, they’re right. Yet, there’s still a place that says they’re wrong.
She’s partially responsible for making him feel inadequate, and that’s a terrible feeling. How on earth could he ever forgive her for her actions? “I’m not sure, Nate. I mean, I know you’ve said you’re learning to forgive me. Do you think you’ve forgiven me enough to have a solid chance at a future if we live together so soon?”
“I’m positive that I love you, and I want us to live together, to be a family”. “I have to think about it. I’d need to talk it over with our daughter as well.” “Don’t think on it too hard, honey. We love each other, and we can be together. There’s no one stopping us anymore.”
He wants to demand a decision, attempting to be patient and give her the time to reflect. On the upside, she hasn’t cut off contact completely. She’s texted him and he’s messaged her good-night each night. He doesn’t want her to think that because she didn’t tell him an immediate yes, that he doesn’t want to talk to her. That’s not the case, he’s missed her.
Sunshine owns her home; has an excellent, financially rewarding job; Natasha’s been in the same school for a few years, and her parents are nearby. Clearly, she’s anxious on taking a blind leap of faith, it’s not that she’s saying no, because she doesn’t love him. She’s simply being responsible about her decision, same as he’s trying to be with her making his place their home.
His patience wins out as the weekend finally arrives, and with it, comes the surprise of his girls. Floored as Sunshine pulls up in a moving truck rather than her Mercedes. Opening the passenger door, he helps Natasha step down and gives her a big hug. Rounding the vehicle to help Sunshine alight, wrapping her in a tight embrace.“Darlin?” I mumble into her hair, wondering if this is what I’ve been hoping for. I don’t want to be prematurely excited just in case. “You wanna tell me what’s going on?”
“The other day...when you texted me about the different ways we could be together? I unenrolled Natasha from school, got her transcripts and brought her with me. We got some boxes, packed up the house together, and rented a truck to bring it all down.” “Damn, honey. I’d have taken care of that stuff for you, so you didn’t have to stress.”
She shakes her head. “I know you would’ve, but we needed to do it ourselves. It was our time to say good-bye to that life and to prepare for our new one here”.
Nate built his house with having a family to share it with, in mind. Now he has a family with Sunshine and Natasha, they move in with him and made the new house into their home. He’s not proposing, but he’s asking them to live as a family…two years later results in a proposal.
I read this out of sequence as they were mis-labelled. The first instalment was outstanding, a pity we weren’t allowed to catch up with Tyler and Kadence.

If you find true love and happiness hold onto it never let it go. Two teenagers fall in love but one moves away with her parents. Down the road they meet up again surprises happen but can they make it work again?
Knight did this second chance romance right! It has all the feels. I expirenced every single emotion while reading this one! Nate and Sunshine have known each other since they were kids. They took a chance at fifteen, and their relationship progressed from best friends, to lovers. At sixteen, life abruptly took them away from each other. When Nate sees her again, and she him, it is not all roses. What I liked about Nate, is his devotion and dedication to turn his life around. He is a very passionate, family oriented man. He has emense talent when it comes to athletics, coaching, and following his dreams. The chemistry between he and Sunshine is hawt, and off the charts!! Fanning myself, wowser! Sunshine is smart, driven, and dedicated to her career and daughter. She has never gotten over Nate, and still struggles daily with the decisions that she has made. When the opportunity presents itself, she spends anytime she can with Nate. I recommend this book!

I knew it was a second chance romance, but this was really a secret baby and I hate those. Would not have read this book had I known
That said -- he's a loser. Literally. I thought Sunshine deserved so much more. He was so lame and such a "bum". I disliked him and didn't care about his happiness She was fairly doormatty. She could have reached out to him at any time - even defying her parents.
The books also seem to be listed incorrectly -- I read Tyler's book first, this second and apparently it's actually Clyde, then this, then Tyler.
I enjoyed Tyler's so this disappointment of both book and MMC was such a letdown
The religious undertones were unnecessary and I do not remember anything of the like in Tyler's book. I don't like my MCs praying to the lord, thanking the lord, going to church regularly, etc. Keep that bullshit out of romance or list it as a Christian romance. It's completely unnecessary and only sits to placate the authors religion and need to thank god.
This series is very different from the normal MC or mafia themed stories this author usually writes but it shows that she is versatile and can write lighter romances just as well.
Nate is a character who you really want only good things to happen to him and can’t help but like, he is cheeky but shows he is also responsible and respectful too. Sunshine is a hardworking character who I liked too, she has come far but is still a small town girl at heart. Together with Nate they make a great couple but will they was the big question and I found myself wanting to shake them both a bit. 😆
I found the pace of the story a little slower to start with but then it picks up and before you know it the story is nearly finished. It leaves you feeling great, like you could go out and achieve anything.
I totally recommend this light romance for a fun escape.
I can’t believe that this is the last in this series. I love these characters and LOVE this town. Nate’s story was such a surprise – not at all what I had in my mind when reading the others, yet it was everything it was meant to be. I loved the surprise and how it tied the past and the future together - I loved seeing Nate grow from a "lost" boy to a real man - I loved that the family ranch was such an important piece to the story. The writing was stellar, and this author just keeps giving me such different stories without ever making me bored. I'm desperately sad that this series is over and hope that one day the Owens brothers have friends that make themselves known!! Nate and Sunshine were perfect together!!
Two Times the Biss is the thrird installment in the Dirty Down South Series by Sapphire Knight, a very different account from what I'm used from this author, a lighter read but really worth it, nevertheless. I haven't read the first two books, but I'm definitively going to. This is a friends-to-lovers romance and Nate and Sunshine are those kind of couples you can't help but root for: common and simple, they were perfect for each other, they just couldn't see it. This is a story of friendship, young love, disconnection and reunion, great chemistry and tension and the HEA, of course! Amazing versality shown by Sapphire, a escape, if you want!

I revere this author. She plays with our emotions and always brings the heat with her stories. She is a smashing author with extraordinary credentials. You know she is worth your time and investment. Trust me she definitely delivers. She is one of the best authors in this genre, her works speak for themselves. Her characters are richly rewarding to the reader, you fall in love with them while entering the story and feeling the emotions coming off the pages! You are enticed and seduced with a criminal passion that flows throughout the story. Developed and Seductive. It is what she is and it shows within her writing.

I felt really bad at my heart strings. Nate is so confused what happened with Sunshine and why she never contacted him after she left. However she had a reason for not getting in touch and when Nate finds out why, his whole world implodes. These two will need to dig deep and work through to see if all can be forgiven to make it work. I thought both characters were very likable and the story was quite emotional at times. I found this book enjoyable to read and great addition to my library.
I received a free advanced reader copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving my fair and honest review.
Another amazing read by one of my favorite authors . I loved the characters . Especially the relationship between the main character and his daughter. I love the relationship between Nate and his brothers , it was really great to finally read his story and how his parents death affected him . The series now feels complete . It was a refreshing read , different from her MC books, even though I am a huge fan of the MC. Can’t wait to read more by Sapphire . 5 stars 😊
Sapphire Knight has done it again! I loved Nate from the beginning and wanted to strangle Sunshine. However, following along with their second chance love story, I grew to like her. If you want former high school sweethearts, hot, muscled ranch owner, former bartender 😉😏 turned high school football coach, then this is the read for you! I don't feel like I was missing anything from the storyline, but like all books, I wish that the epilogue was longer because I'm greedy and wanted more! Definitely will recommend it to friends ❤️
2 Times the Bliss by Sapphire Knight was a fantastic read. It is book 3 in the Dirty Down South series. It had everything I wanted in a romance. Young love, separation, reuniting, surprises, hot chemistry and a HEA. I missed the first two books in the series and I'm definitely going to be purchasing them today. Kudos!

Nate the bad boy Sunshine his friend and lover when they became teens then Sunshine left why. They've both taken different paths been with other people now Sunshine is back theres some minor drama as to why they split and why Sunshine is back and she's not alone. They've always wanted each other there chemistry is still strong and so are there feelings.
I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my honest review.
I’m a sucker for a southern man, and OMG, Nate was written to perfection. Nate and Sunshine loved one another as teens, but then her family moved and they lost touch. Now she’s back, and his heart still longs for her. Their story brought a few tears to my eyes. Their longing for one another, and their struggle to admit that longing, had me cheering for a second chance. This is one series you will not be disappointed in.
This is the 5th book I've read written by Sapphire Knight; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
This is the 3rd book in the Dirty Down South Series; it is a stand-alone book. Sunshine & Nate grew up together but when her family moved away they lost their connection. Years later they are back together.

Sapphire Knight has done it again! The story of Nate and Sunshine was so good! If you like stories of long lost love, and a little twist that I didn't see coming. You will love this book. I had all the feels with this one. I fell in love with all the characters. Hooked me in the first paragraph.
This book was different than the others Sapphire usually writes but just as good. Nate and Sunshine grow up together and family reasons make Sunshine have to move then tragedy hits and life keeps them apart. It's a second chance book that sucks you in, Its funny, sweet, sassy, and southern all rolled into one. Also there is football!! A must read for sure.
A second chance at love kind of story. It's a page turner that hooks you at the beginning. Nate and Sunshine reconnect with each other years later. Their circumstances weren't ideal the first time but the second time well things definitely came full circle plus there's a slight twist. I really enjoyed this story and I recommend reading it, it doesn't disappoint.
Another fantastic story by Sapphire Knight. This is an entertaining, sweet, and extremely charming journey to go on with Nate and Sunshine. This story has me completely riveted in the very best of ways. Delightfully witty as well as wonderfully sexy with some surprises. I enjoyed every moment of this story.
loved it !!! love Sunshine ... and love Nate... this is their story... really a second chance for both... Nate is a stripper...Sunshine was his best friend... the chemistry is still there... can they make it work ? a fast paced drama filled with secrets and angst...a good story.

Nate and Summer became friends and then lovers at a very young age. They were separated and now they're given a second chance. These two need to figure out if now is their time. This story offers drama, deep emotion, and sassy exchanges.
I enjoyed this read.

Sunshine and Nate were childhood friends and young sweethearts till her fathers job took Sunshine away, but when she comes back shes not alone, will the secret pull them further apart? or is their a second chance at love on the cards? engaging steamy, angst, desires and more.

I haven't read the other books in the series, but I'm definitely going to now. The relationship between the brothers left me wanting more. It is a good story with very good characters. I really liked Nate and Sunshine and their second chance.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the third book in this series, and this is Nate and Sunshine’s story. This is a well written story which has off the chart’s chemistry, friendships, family, tragedy. Humor, regrets, turmoil, tension, emotions, 2nd chances, and love, which leads to a compelling page turner. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Buckle up, folks! Knight's second-chance romance is a rollercoaster of emotions that will leave you breathless. Nate and Sunshine's story, which began in their teenage years, is a heart-wrenching exploration of love, loss, and the power of true devotion - with a healthy dose of humor to keep you smiling through the tears.
This was a great ending for this series. Nate seemes like the lost brother but finally pulls himself together after he sees his lost love Sunshine. Sunshine is hiding her own secrets that have been hidden for over a decade. Awesome story!
Two previous friends explore an attraction years later but his profession causes a bit of drama in his life but all to a good end. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
