Ava Ruth Campbell, a small-town California girl, has just arrived in New York City to attend NYU. It’s a dream come true—a deferred dream, but one she’s worked hard to achieve. She is starting a new life, trying to forget a trauma that left her hospitalized and contemplating suicide… But when she encounters Grant Wilder in a coffee shop her first week in NYC, the trajectory of her life will change forever.Grant is older, impossibly handsome, and ridiculously wealthy. And he quickly falls in love with the quirky and beautiful Ava. Despite her hesitation to jump into a new relationship, Ava is powerless to resist Grant’s sweet nature and easy charm. A real-life fairy tale? Not quite. While Ava is reluctant to share all the details of her past, Grant’s keeping an even bigger secret—one that has the power to destroy even the most picture-perfect love affair.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Mima began writing The Path of a Logical Liar sitting at a retail cashier’s desk with her iPad and a portable Bluetooth keyboard. Three years later and she’s excited for the world to finally meet Grant and Ava. In her spare time, Mima enjoys cooking, scrolling through Tik Tok and surfing the Zara website. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and son.
“You’re it for me” 5/5 Stars (Ad, paid promo) I relate to Ava in a way that I haven’t had before with a book, but also was I able to fully put myself into her situation. This is where we meet Grant. Let’s just say Grant is a “all in” kind of guy.
I think this is why I liked this book so much because Ava was thinking similarly to how I still think today. The questions she asks herself and why she doesn’t want to jump into a relationship right away we’re things that I do myself.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone that likes college romance with darker topics. Before reading check tw (mention of $v!¢!de)

CW: suicide, ectopic pregnancy, infertility
I had a sudden urge to start this book at 2 in the morning a few days ago and it undoubtedly caught my attention within the first few pages. Everything seemed cookie cutter simple until real truths were slowly introduced by the main characters. This is a contemporary insta-love romance with a sense a mystery on the side.
Ava Campbell is a character I found myself resonating with on so many different levels. She goes through the most unimaginable situation that left parts of her broken and pushed back the future she longed for post high school- college in New York City. I admired how despite everything, she still goes for what she wants alongside all of her residual pain, reluctance, and massive wall that she has up. Her strength is truly unmatched.
Grant meets Ava and knows her in a way that you'd least expect. They instantly fall for each other and believe they have found the person who is "it" for them. With her guard up, Ava does not make things easy for Grant. However, he does not give up easily when it comes to the woman he can't stop thinking since the moment they met at a coffee shop.
Left on a HUGE cliffhanger, I do not know how to feel... but I am also eager for the sequel that is coming out next year. Grant has A LOT of explaining to do and Ava deserves everything and more.

It's the type of story that goes all in to a relationship right from the very beginning. Where you fall in love with the characters and their love and hope that it ends well but in your heart of hearts you know that it's going to break your heart. This book has a good mixture of love, happiness, tears, plot twists and a killer ending!
The plot seems basic in the beginning with two people falling in love etc., however, it gets do much better once you cross the halfway mark. You are on your toes waiting to see what happens next and I loved it.
I love Ava, not only for her lively yet reserved personality (because she reminds me so much of myself) but also for how strong she is given the amount of crap she had to go through (and is still reeling from). However, I wasn't a huge fan of Grant. Even before the big 'plot twist' something was off about him and my mind kept going 'red flag'. His whole demeanor from the beginning screams fake and isn't something that I find attractive. Others may feel differently because he does have a few redeeming qualities in him. (Side note: there's a particular character who I'd love to see have their own novel or novella!)
Overall, I loved this book because it's a little bit different from your regular romance novels, but it still maintains it's classic integrity. I cannot wait to read book 2 because of how this one ended!! 🦄🦄🦄 Rated 8/10 Melina L.
Look, even after what he did idk how you’re suppose to forgive him like idk it’s just not possible. I’m pretty sure for book 2 they’re gonna get back tgt but like yea pretty big ass betrayal if u ask me especially after al the emotional and physical trauma you went through. The audacity of him even thinking of getting back tgt bruh. Defending that piece of shit. Suck my invisible dick.

Wow! Just wow. Beautifully written and paced, I could not put this book down! Overall incredible debut novel & cannot wait to continue along with Grant & Ava. Let me just say…did NOT see the multiple plot twists coming. Kudos to Mima!!!👏🏼
A huge thank you to the author for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review!
3.5⭐️ 2🌶
CW: suicide attempt, suicidal thoughts
What I LOVED: The relationship between the characters especially their romance. It was a bit instalovey but there were several moments when I would swoon over the sweet talk and romantic gestures. I enjoyed the shock factor towards the end and how it kept me anticipating and guessing on what other secrets they could be keeping from each other.
What I LIKED: Both characters were equally interesting so I enjoyed the dual POV this had. Those helped me connect to them more and be empathetic towards their individual struggles. I also liked how both of their families were open and supportive so there wasn’t as much family drama than I expected.
What I DIDN’T ENJOY: The constant back and forth in the main leads’ relationship and how easily things would move on without having a moment to process the events like one moment they would be fighting something major then the next, they’re back to being lovey dovey. That went on and on all throughout the book. The male lead was a little too perfect to the point their fights felt half-hearted from how he just took everything thrown at him. Lastly, I didn’t love the writing. It felt rushed and jumpy. With how they conversed especially, it read like a YA novel with adult characters so felt the frustration from their immaturity.
Additionally, I didn’t know this was gonna be a series so I went in thinking it would be standalone and was waiting for a HEA to come but I was given a cliffhanger instead. I’m definitely still interested to read the next book given the events of the last chapters!
THIS BOOK IS PERFECT FOR: fans of high angst and low steam romance with lots of shocking revelations as you read!
I really need the second part, how can I wait any longer? Ava and Grant's story just drew me in. I finished the book in a day and wow wow I'm speechless. The plot twist really blew me away and the book ended on a cliffhanger. Ava is a very strong character and I'm very proud of her. She has been through a lot and clearly deserves only the best!! Grant is very charming and really convinced me at first. The way he used to call Ava Ava baby melted my heart. Although I'm not actually a big fan of instant love, I really liked the book. I liked that Ava made it harder for Grant and it was a mix of instant love and slow burn. I can only recommend the book to you, not only does the cover look cute, I am sure you will fall in love with both characters just as I did
Ava has truly been through it all and is finally starting to come out the other side. She moves to NY and is going to NYC, fully paid for apartment and everything. One day at a cafe she meets the ever handsome Grant. He’s gorgeous and obviously rich by the brand of his suit. It’s a cute little mix up of drinks and Grant is immediately smitten but there’s a mysterious undertone. A hint that Grant knows more about Ava then he’s letting on. Ava is reluctant to start a new relationship since her last one ended so devastatingly but Grant breaks down all her walls.
They meet each other’s family, Ava admits all her flaws to him and he pushes her for them all the while hiding something from her. He constantly admits to himself that their relationship is doomed from the start but he can’t stay away from her.
Then… we find out what he’s been hiding and it is catastrophic. There’s no way their relationship can withstand that sort of demise. So they break up. But as someone who loves HEA I am not satisfied. I want Ava and Grant to be together!

Ava and Grant had an instant love type of relationship & im not the biggest fan of insta love but for this specific story it worked so well!!!!!!! It was needed because that plot twist & cliffhanger hurt! I really liked how sweet Grant was with Ava! I admire how they communicated through things. I’ll have a full review on my instagram soon: @kristinasbooknook
The book cover and title intrigued me right away 🤩
Ava Campbell has just moved to New York City to attend NYU. It has been her dream, but she had to put it on hold when a trauma left her hospitalized. Soon after arriving in her new city, she meets Grant Wilder, an older, successful businessman.
Grant didn’t feel genuine from the start, and that didn’t change for me. He was pushy and came on too strong at times. And then there were times where he was straight up mean, and it didn’t sit well with me. Grant would get angry at Ava for not telling him about her past trauma, all while he was deceiving her from the very beginning of the book. This just wasn’t a relationship I could get on board with and root for. I would recommend going into this one knowing that it’s not a typical love story. I actually did not want Ava and Grant to end up together, so the story to me was more about secrets, deception, and coping with trauma.
After reading the first few chapters, I was pretty sure this would be a 3, maybe 3.5 star read and I COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG. The plot, the characters, the emotion, everything was perfect. I loved this book so so much and can't wait for the next one.
Who doesn’t love a romance every now and again in-between all their murder and thriller reads, I know I do. This came at the perfect time for me. It didn’t take me very long to read at all. Grant is amazing oh my goodness … give me a Grant! Maybe I need to start drinking tea and coffee! This book isn’t all love and romance it also touches on some more serious subjects that can happen in life which will be very relatable to some people. For myself it reminded me to think about being more mindful of the fact you don’t know what secret demons anyone is carrying around with them, be kind always. A lovely lovely read…. I knocked a star off because she is very naughty leaving the reader on a cliffhanger and desperate for the sequel! This book makes me want to believe in love at first sight 😍.
Honestly speaking I hate insta love and as rushed as the beginning was im glad I saw it through because it got way better around 35-40% . the plot twist and cliffhanger had me fighting back tears in class bro.
The Path of a Logical Liar was super captivating from the very first chapter. I found Ava really raw and relatable and admired her character development as this story unfolded. Honestly there is nothing better than an intense romance novel but this one was really enjoyable and I loved the ending. Reading this gave me so many emotions love, pity, desire and heartbreak and I absolutely cannot wait for the next book!!!
Mima Rosenfeld smashed this one out of the park especially for a debut novel and I feel so lucky that I got to read it. 💖
okay i finished, i didn’t dnf but oh dear do i wish i did,,, after all the really hard to read cringe conversations of two grown people acting like 12 year olds.... that’s the cliffhanger it ended on???? no. nope not reading the second if there is one. i really really tried with this i just couldn’t stand it.
This is genuinely not your typical romance novel, I promise you. There is a lot more depth to it, and it doesn't end the way you'd expect, trust me. If you're curious, you should be. The ending had my jaw on the floor, for real. I NEED THE SEQUEL ASAP!! YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME WITH A CLIFFHANGER LIKE THIS MIMA!!
I honestly don't want to go into too much detail about this book and its topics because I don't want to spoil anything plus I feel like the book really speaks for itself as you go through it and read it on your own, so you literally don't even have to listen to anything I say, just PICK THIS BOOK UP!
Bonus: Mima is such a wonderful and genuine person that I've come to know and enjoy talking to over these past few months, so if anything, just getting to read someone's work who I respect and have become friends with was such a treat <3 Plus this was literally her first book?! It only goes up from here, and I seriously can't wait to continue supporting her and watch her grow :)
AVA DESERVES THE WORLD. this book was an absolute roller coaster and left off on SUCH A CLIFFHANGER. i am in awe. i love grant and ava SOO much but i just don’t know how to feel rn AHH.
I want to first thank Mima Rosenfeld for gifting me an E publication of this book for review. Expected release is the 23rd of November 2021. (You can preorder on Amazon now!)
I will be keeping this review as spoiler free as possible. This is a debut novel so I don’t want to ruin it for anybody!
I went into this read with little knowledge of it and assumed it would be a general romance. Indeed, it was romantic, however there is a mystery about it that keeps you guessing the whole way through. It starts off fast paced and I was thinking it was quite ‘Insta love’ however, you continue on and discover it is all very necessary to the story. I also thought I had it pretty well laid out early on, and I thought I had predicted the end by about halfway into the novel. I was so wrong! (And I like to be wrong!)
The ending had me stumped and when it flicked to an epilogue, my first word was, ‘what!’ (Basically, it leaves you wanting more and thankfully, there might be!)
The story follows Ava (A freshman at NYC), Grant (A high profile businessman) and their blossoming relationship from the day they meet onwards. There’s an age gap and an instant connection however, we know they’re both hiding things from one another. What are these truths they’re hiding and how will it affect their relationship going forward, if either of them found out?
Without giving to much away, we know very early on that Grant meeting Ava is no coincidence, but again, the premise as to why is left unknown and you’ll continue reading just wanting to find out!
For fans of romance, a little spice, a bit of mystery and a nice easy read.
Trigger Warning: This novel touches on topics (respectfully) of infertility, abortion and suicide.
For a debut, I’m utterly impressed and I think Mima has great potential to only get better and better. I’m so eager to see where this story continues to go!
The fast paced romance wasn't for me but that has to do with personal preference. Ava was nice and I loved how strong she was and how she managed to go through all that and still find beauty in people and life in general. Grant's personality got me feeling weird and suspicious in the beginning but although he never really made me fall in love with him, he was lovely in many parts. Two (or two and a half) stars because the fast pace got me uneasy in many situations.
