To flee the Everlasting King, Huon, Liona and Gale sail away from the Harolan continent. They hope they'll find safety, somewhere they can advance without fearing for their lives.
But no one has succusfully made such a journey in over a thousand years.
Alright, this was the best one by far. Huon finally hit Champion tier, gained a new surge which is pretty awesome, and we get some answers about the world. I love the lore of the world. It's very good and much better then I was expecting. Huon and Liona develop more as well. This book fixed some of my earlier issues with not having enough POVs. So that was nice too.
Also, I absolutely love Avery. She's a great character. And now they have a new goal as a group to advance beyond the Immortals and Celestials. So
Somehow, I end up finishing each one in a day, must be because each one is a few pages(around 200+ pages shorter) less than what I am used to......... Champion, the middle rank in Herzverse(I have to remember all this universes!!!), at least I think so, Huon's and Liona's journey is slowly(really slow, compared to.......nahhhh)gaining ground, their goal of going back and destroying the Everlasting King, In a few months(??) time from being Squires, then Knights now Champion, it is still not enough...... Not to spoil, finally a rank higher than Immortal is introduced, individuals that can help Huon's dream come true.........unfortunately as with every advancement comes that feeling of empowerment and selfishness, I mean why should this select few bother to help.....just like in our reality, the notion of being better than your brethren, it gives off this excuse to look and treat them as someone lower than you...... Finally some riddles are answered, and we gain new ones too, there is Captain Avery's real reason, soulbound against oathbound.......... As in any game, reaching the middle point tends to make it more interesting, as you gain in knowledge, ability and prowess, so does the world around you, no more Goblins, Giant Spiders, now we have Orcs, Lizardmen, various predators.........so with being a Champion, better essences, unique never before seen ones..... All in all a breeze to finish, but with a lot more information....Oh finally I can see a better Huon......
Another great story. I often get bored with multi volume stories, but not this one. I love the fact that it has one main protagonist, whose point of view is followed the vast majority of the time, while still having solid support characters. Great book, great series.
This book was fantastic. Definitely one of, if not the best book in the series so far. I can only hope that the author continues to write so brilliantly well in the future. If so then this books series will no doubt become one of my favorite Progression Fantasy book series. Period. Now, on to book 5 ;)
I’ve really been enjoying this series, as it has a different take on cultivation. It feels fresh and unique, with fun plot lines and interesting characters. Can’t wait for book 5!
3.5 Stars. I liked it overall, I read the book in just a couple days. One of the best progression fantasy series out there for sure. I did find some parts repetitive (reiterations of his motivations are very frequent) and felt a few of the plot points were a little bit weak.
Lots of action and twist. Like the story and the magic surge system and different Ranks. The only Reason This does not get more stars is no map and the description of places.
There is a small change in that this book has points of view other than Huon’s. I can’t remember that from the earlier books. Otherwise it’s very similar to what came before. Advancement. Arena fights. A few secrets revealed.
I started reading the first book in the series and haven't put them down. The series started out a bit shaky (from a writing standpoint) but has steadily gotten better. Great stuff looking forward to more!
