I used to have a small collection of guinea pig books in the 1990s, when I was owned by a small herd of guinea pigs. I cant remember this book at all now. This review originally appeared on Amazon on Decemer 22, 1997:

One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

This thin book has only bare bones information that is now mostly out of date. The photographs have all appeared in several other TFH published books about guinea pigs over the years. It is now known that red cedar is one of the worst bedding materials for guinea pigs, and that wire meshed bottom cages can often cripple or kill guinea pigs. The best thing going for this book is the CARTOONS! Yes, guinea pigs may seem cartoonish enough, but these dozen or so cartoons will make you look at your piggy differently! If you're looking for guinea pig caretaking information, don't look in here. If you collect guinea pig books and want to see something a little different with the cartoons, then step over to it.

This is a fantastic book for beginners and experienced guinea pig owners. You can feel the love for guinea pigs through the author's writing. Explanations and details are spot on.This is a must read if you are thinking about getting a guinea pig or if you already own one or more.

OK this was needed when we had Guinea Pigs as well as Rabbits as Pets. Useful book!
