Insta-love on steroids. Way too much too fast. I liked Caesar and Gem as characters and their relationship could have been cute had it not gone from just meeting to I love you and want to get engaged within one day.

Gemma and Caesar . . .

Gemma was worrying that for the past 3 months, the bar hasn’t made enough money to pay the bills, and she is afraid they could lose their jobs. Then Caesar walks into the bar, ducking under the door frame, and both of them look like they have fallen in love instantly. When a rude drunk gets bossy and disrespectful, Caesar picks him up and asks if he wants to be thrown out the door or the window – and he only gets the door if he apologizes. Afterward, she asked his name and he told her it was Caesar; his mom liked the name. Gemma said, “A fan of the Roman emperor?” to which he replied, no… the salad, because she was a vegan!

When Caesar talked about the two of them getting married, she started to tell him something that happened to her when she was a kid, then suddenly stopped before she confided in him. But he asked again what happened. She still didn’t say, so he gave her his phone number and told her to call. But she knew that if he knew her secret, he wouldn’t like her very much. What was she hiding?

I had to stay up to finish this standalone book, I just couldn’t put it down. I tell you that in case you are like me and when you get into a good book, nothing else matters. It took me about 3 hours to read this book, (I’m an average reader), so my plan for the next books in this series, (Firefighters with Hearts) is to have my reading area stocked with tissues, and a period of personal time blocked off.
Everyone deserves some “me” time to escape from the pressures of reality, and “Caesar” was a wonderful diversion, with a feel-good ending and HEA.
The author was able to bring Caesar, Gemma, and the supporting characters to life with this well-written book. Even the parents and best friends became like neighbors and friends to me.
There were a few small twists and surprises for me throughout this book, and they only added to the excitement. There wasn’t a cliffhanger, but Gemma and Caesar’s best friends look like the love couple in the second book. I enjoy when characters from future books are introduced in previous books, I become even more vested in seeing them get together.
The storyline felt so genuine and real, and definitely had me tearing up a couple of times. The long held secrets, the physical and emotional pain was so authentic and touching. The love scenes were steamy, but beautiful.
I am really looking forward to reading the rest of this standalone, no cliffhanger series, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you treating yourself to this wonderful love story.

This quick insta love story touched my heart. It is rather poignant with a fair amount of spice added to make things more interesting. Gemma has carried an awful secret for years and believes that she is unlovable. Her best friend, Jasmine, will have none of that nonsense and urges Gemma to accept the attention of the handsome giant of a man who walked in the bar where they work and had eyes only for her. Caesar is immediately smitten by the curvy bartender and does his best to convince her to go out with him. He doesn’t mention that he is a firefighter or that he thinks she is his “one”. He sets out to show her how he feels, but has no idea of the obstacles he faces. They certainly have lots of chemistry and generate a lot of heat, but can she let go of the past in order to reach toward love and a happily ever after?

I would happily recommend this book.

Gemma was working one night at the bar. It seemed like a normal but slow night until he walked into the bar. Caesar is new is town and is very sexy and hot. When Caesar spoke to Gemma, she couldn't get any words out at first then she garbled her speech. Her friend and the other bartender kept trying to push Gemma toward the hottie. Finally Gemma is able to communicate and agrees to spend time with Caesar. They have a wonderful time and it seemed like a match made in Heaven until Gemma learned that Caesar was a firefighter.

This is a fast pace story of instant love with the twist of the pain of the past. Gemma has a secret that she does not share, that comes from what happen when she was young and keeps her shy of relationships. Caesar has just been transferred into town and has had a day when he meets Gemma. Once he sees her she brightens his day.

This is hot and passionate story with a bit of Alpha protectiveness. Caesar will not let anything stand in his way when it comes to Gemma. Gemma is force to face the past and hope that it will not be two much for her or Caesar.

This was a good story. Gemma was bartending when Caesar walked into the bar. He had been restless and just stopped in as he was new to town. He was instantly attracted to her and she was sort of struck dumb and couldn't talk. Quickly they went out and connected. She had a secret though and was afraid to tell him. He also had something he hadn't told her - that he was a firefighter. That made a huge difference to her as she would always be afraid for him. Also, she had been in a fire and had a traumatic experience. Eventually they talked it out for their HEA.

This was a beautiful story with an emotional edge. We follow Gemma and Caesar. They meet in the bar where she works and Caesar walks in and they immediately click together and the chemistry and attraction is palpable. What they don't know about each other is that they both carry a secret with them. He says he is a firefighter and she is afraid of his profession and should actually avoid him because of the trauma she previously experienced during a fire. This is a must read, I enjoyed their journey.

Gemma had an awful experience when she was sixteen. Her twin sister died in a fire, and she got terrible scars on her back. Nobody has seen them except her parents and her best friend
Caesar is a firefighter who can’t stand losing lives while doing his job.
This was a very emotional story. I could feel Gemma’s pain when she lost her sister and the terrible load she was carrying. I loved her parents, especially her father.

Secrets. A tale of predictable events but the twists come with the secrets not shared. A small coastal town where the sudden appearance of a new guy sweeps into the life of a local girl . The romance starts with a walk and quickly escalates into a new outlook on life for both characters. The secrets they keep threaten to change their relationship forever and it’s unclear if they will ever get back on track. Love can overcome most hurdles if only one is willing to take the leap.

A fun read. It isn’t too many books I have read where I burst out laughing, but this one had quite a few places with exceptional fun moments.

A short read. The drawback of a short book is that you sometimes feel like you are missing a lot of story between the main characters, and though it would have been nice in this case I really don’t mind in this case.

The writing is mostly without flaws, nothing that took Away from the book anyway.

All in all it is a good book.
