Olivia Thompson has lived a big life. Married straight out of high school, she had two kids, went through a messy divorce, but then, she had a second chance. She found love again with one Sam Thompson, Shipton Harbor police officer and all around good guy.
Then came Sammie, her late-in-life son, and a few years later, Ava, her now best friend and partner in crime. Ava changed Olivia’s life for the better, introducing her to the world of witchcraft, necromancy, and all sorts of other paranormal goodies.
Olivia was always on the outside of it, though, helping her witchy best friend through her supernatural life.
Until Olivia discovered that her birth mother is a Fae. And then, shock of her life, she discovered her birth father is none other than Lucifer himself. Or maybe he’s Loki. He’s been called both.
Now, Olivia must come to grips with her new reality, meet her new magical family, all the while keeping her grown kids from losing it over this new development!
Is it bad that she’s low-key so excited about it all?

This is book nine and a short novella in the Witching After Forty series and sees Olivia Thompson finally find out about her birth parents, in an unexpected event. She was helping her best friend and necromancer/earth witch Ava with a strange blob imprisoned in a cave near her house. Olivia can see a beautiful woman inside the blob, something even Ava can’t. Olivia and Ava’s husbands both work as Shipton Harbour police officers and her marriage to Sam has brought her happiness after her previous failure of a marriage to the father of her two oldest children, who she is estranged from. She and Sam have a late in life child together Sammie and life is looking up at last. Ava lives in her house Winston, yes the house is sentient and often doesn’t like Olivia, even though she was actually born there! She has taken on the dead skeleton Larry, who she reanimated, plus the undead tiger shifter Zoey, she rescued from the cage fights, her ghoul Alfred who used to house her dead Aunt Winnie. Even Ava’s dead mum Beth was there and off searching hospitals for new bodies for her and Winnie to occupy and for Ava to reanimate for them! The beautiful woman within the blob is freed by accident, with Olivia’s blood and turns out to be her mother Phira, a Royal High Fae. Her father turns out to be Ava’s neighbour of the last year, Luci, or Loki, amongst many names he has been called during his immortal life. Phira opens Olivia up to her magic, which was locked away to keep her safe from the King all those years ago. This also triggers strange events in her three children’s lives and they all need rescuing by Loki. Olivia is totally shocked to find out who her real birth parents are and that she now has magic herself as well. She is even more powerful than her friend Ava, who she always used to be somewhat jealous of. Now she has to get used to a whole new family and loads of new relatives. Plus she needs to introduce her kids to this new lifestyle and all the secrets that have been kept from them, since they hadn’t been a part of the supernatural world before now. Not something her ex-husband takes well when he drops by unannounced! This is an enjoyable, but very short story, that I realise I had already read as part of something else, but still fun to re-read. Ava and Olivia have the best of friendships and loving partners, which helps them to deal with everything that happens around them. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Olivia Thompson was no stranger to magic, having a best friend Ava, a necromancer-witch who showed her all the paranormal things that were possible through witchcraft, necromancy, and all sorts of other skills. Olivia and Ava worked well together, although Olivia could not contribute in the same way… she thought.
Olivia was with Ava examining a strange blob imprisoned in a cave and Olivia was able to see a beautiful woman trapped in the blob. Oddly Ava could not see that. When Olivia accidentally sets her free, it turns out the woman is her birth mother, a Fae. Her father is Lucifer (yes, that one) we met previously as Ava’s neighbor. Phira turns Olivia’s suppressed magic on, so Olivia has a whole new world to explore, skills to discover, and family to meet! Grab your copy and see how this big change shakes up the rest of her family members as they learn of her lineage!
FAERY ODD-MOTHER is the ninth book in the Witching After Forty (#4.5) series. These stories do need to be read in the order of release. It was originally released as OLD MAGIC AND ODD MOTHERS in the Girdles and Ghouls Anthology.
Excellent addition to the series with a focus on Olivia and her surprises. Those surprises are doozies! I have read every book in this series so it probably isn’t fair for me to say if it would stand without that knowledge. What I will say is that it is a terrific short story that does add to the forward motion of the series.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC via Booksprout, my opinions are my own and are given freely.
Title: FAERY ODD MOTHER Series: Witching After Forty #4.5 Category /Genre: Paranormal Romance Recommended for: 18+ Grammar/editing: received as an unedited ARC / errors excused. Received from: L.A. Boruff
Our heroine discovers who true parents and it is definitely not what she expected. This brings both clarity and trouble.
This is nominally book nine of the series, but, it works fine as a standalone.
This is a cozy witch mystery with all that entails. I am rather fond of the genre, so I was happy to have another such series. The story is well written and easy to read with a intriguing and diverse cast as well as a fun setting. We get some nice revelations about one of our characters here which makes things really interesting. The story itself moves at a good pace and includes plenty of mystery and intrigue to keep things interesting. Overall, I enjoyed this latest adventure and look forward to more in the future.
Highly recommended.

In this novella in the Witching After forty series, we change narrators from Ava to Olivia. As Ava’s enemy-turned-bestie, Olivia has been introduced to the magical world, so she is somewhat surprised to discover that she too might just be magical!
As the long lost daughter of a Fae and Lucifer, Olivia has powers of her own, but she has no idea how to use or control them. Then there are her children…
This PWF short has all the witching after forty favourites in it, although it is told from a different viewpoint. There is still plenty of magical mayhem, talkative cats, and mischief though!
Olivia is on the second stage of her life, with a new husband, Sam and son Sammie. Best friend Ava is slowly introducing her to witchcraft and paranormal happenings when Olivia discovers that her real mother was fae and her father is Lucifer. Her whole life is changing and new worlds are opening to her in surprising ways. The characters are addictive and entertaining. The storyline has drama, suspense, surprises, family and friends that get closer. Loved the interactions and other characters. Story flows well and keeps you wanting more. Great ending.

I read this because it seemed interesting and it was. Now I may go back to the series beginning and read them all. I really like that they are in kindle unlimited since I am a retiree and money is not plentiful. This is a story of an adopted person who finds out her biological parents are magical…mom is a faerie and dad is a demon. When her powers appear so do the powers of her son and daughter. This is just a short novella that ends in a problem which I assume will conclude in the next book. The characters are well developed for a novella and the story well written. Looking forward to the next book. Glad I read it. Enjoy
Faery Odd Mother is book nine in the Witching After Forty series and in this book we learn more about Olivia. I loved that we get to find out who Olivia's parents were and get her perspective on what was going on. This is an entertaining short story and it is packed with magic, family drama, humor, unexpected twists and turns, and an ending that left me wanting more. I can't wait to read the next book in this series to find out what happens next for all of these interesting and quirky characters. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

This is Olivia’s story she finds out more about her life than what she knew, her best friend Ava brought a black blob out from the in between the blob is supposed to be a Fae princess but as it seems she is so much more to Olivia. I’m loving this series, the descriptions and the characters and I can’t wait to read more, fantastic story and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
Squee! We get to know more about Olivia’s story. This book answers so many questions that I didn’t even realize I had. It’s got the funny, irreverent sense of humor that I’ve come to expect from this series, and I giggled my way through the story. And now that we’ve gotten some more answers – and discovered a new complication or two – I can’t wait to find out what’s next. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout.
This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW of Faery Odd Mother, part of the Witching Over Forty series by L.A. Boruff and Lia Davis. This is a super fast read that gives us Olivia's story. This is definitely a blink and you miss it read. I really enjoyed it and found myself laughing and wiping my eyes. A great addition to Ava's world and a fun insight to Olivia.

I really liked this one. It's a nice change, it's written from Olivia's POV although Ava and the gang are very much present. This is definitely Olivia's moment - she finally gets to be a real part of the gang, not just an observer, while learning to handle her new powers, meet her birth parents and family while trying to reunite with her estranged oldest children. As quirky and witty as ever, this is a hoot.
This is a good book in the Witching after Forty series. It is a short book but does cover so much. I like these types of books because they do not have to read in order to be able to know what was happening. The main character finds out who her parents are and it isn't what she thought. I look forward to reading more from this book.

The best series! I love this series so much that I always read them too fast! I loved this story about Olivia! We follow along as learns about her bio family, I knew she was magic! Luci is there to stir things up, he is always an interesting character. All the characters are awesome, it’s what I love about this series! I can’t wait for the next book! Fabulous!
Being the 9th in a series might make you think repeats and reruns. Definitely not. Hard issues made lighter with laughter and wisdom and a few antics from an abode. This one has everything but a mystery to solve and was such fun to read.
Life changing news and events turn Olivia's life upside-down, but with the help of her husband Sam, her BFF Ava and the rest of her friends and her family she will handle the challenges put before her. I loved this short novela and I am also reading the spin-off Series.

What a twist, Olivia is a Faery & unlocking her powers unlocked her kids powers as well. Seems like Winston knew about Olivia & her powers, its why he dislikes her in his house. Epilogue: Ava's Halloween birthday party. Olivia's ex-husband crashes the party & instantly rejects the Halloween themed party, & his own children.

These stories are like chapters instead of whole books, not that I mind it all that much. The characters are important to me and full of intelligence and caring. The plot is easily followed, and the premise is Olivia finding her self with birth parents as something new. I definitely recommend this book.
This is one of the series I look forward to reading when new books come out. Ava and friend are always into some type of mischief and Luci always keeps the gang on their toes. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
Couldn't put it down loved the characters and the storyline so it's a well deserved five stars and I would recommend this book to everyone and can't wait to read more in this series
Olivia is Ava's best friend, she has no magical powers but is always cheering her on from the side lines. However now it seems she is the daughter of a high Fae and a Demigod? And she has powers of her own.
Another short story in this amusing series but stars Olivia who learns a big secret that causes problems. A quick funny story that made me roar in laughter. Plus all my favorite characters are present to add to the fun.
The ninth book in Witching After Forty series, another great story in this series. What a ending, there is one surprise after another and Carter just found out something. I want to read the next book. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
An edge of your seat journey. Heart racing, action packed, engaging and emotionally thrilling adventure filled with danger, secrets, magic and exciting charters, unforgettable witty banter and undeniable passion.... was an edge of your seat read from beginning to end.
Uncovering Olivia's lineage in this one, another short, short was still exciting. Look forward to seeing all these characters continue to grow and know them all better!
This series is great! I love the world the authors have created and getting to learn more about some of the other characters was fantastic! I highly recommend this series!

I really enjoyed this story! It was filled with witches and magic, necromancers and ghouls, and new surprises!! I love reading about paranormals learning about their powers!
Oh man, Olivia too. How awesome that she is magical also. And Lucí as her father wow! Know I can't wait to see what else she can do and how she's going to help Ava now that she has powers of her own!
