Poor Little Miss Muffett was scared away, but what if the spider told the rhyme? In this novel approach to nursery rhymes, half the book holds the classic rhyme, while the flip side holds a fractured version that starts from the back. Whimsical art adds to the flip side fun.
Every story has two sides, as this adorable book with a modern feel evidences. Miss Muffet's original rhyme on one side contrasts with the spider's perspective on the other. The book includes a center section instructing the child to turn the book over for the other side. I love the illustrations, and the simple text is humorous, catchy, and fun.
3.25 Stars I had such high hopes for this book, hoping it was like Mirror/Mirror by Singer but alas...it was good but not amazing. Oh here is the triple sigh of the day! SIIIIGGHH !

In this novel approach to nursery rhymes, half the book holds the classic rhyme, while the flip side holds a fractured version that starts from the back. Using simple text and campy illustrations, this entry into the Flip-Side Rhymes series is perfect for reading aloud and for teaching children about perspective. As the old adage goes, there are two sides to every story, and this is a fun way to show it. Other titles in the series include Humpty Dumpty, Jack and Jill and Little Bo Peep.
Little Miss Muffet - Flip-Side Rhymes is a wonderful new way to tell the classics. First you read the classic rhyme and then when finished you flip the book over and see how the story went from the view point of the spider. Wonderful way to teach kids to look at things from all angles and views. What you see is not what someone else sees.

I read this book in storytime for Pre-K today and the kids loved it. They already knew Miss Muffet's version but when I flipped the book, they enjoyed hearing from the spider (who just wanted to play, after all!!)
Flipping the book is a little cumbersome, as it's so big, but delights the kids. A fun way to remind kids that we don't all experience things the same.
