This is an excellent review of the UFO phenomenon, the government's reactions to these phenomenon, and the various cultural responses to these phenomenon before explaining the demonic nature of them.
Father Bailey breaks down the history of the UFO phenomenon, through a series of historical events that illustrate that every government across the world was taking these (very real) phenomenon very seriously throughout the 20th century. He then leads us through the stories of how the various intelligence agencies and so forth used these events to push their own narratives of what they meant, both covering them up and revealing information about them to further their own agendas.
He then goes on to discuss the other various cultural responses to the UFO phenomenon from Carl Sagan, to Jung even to those driving the "disclosure" narrative such as Steven Greer. Throughout all of this he makes the point that the agenda of all these secular forces is the obsession with disproving Christianity.
He then concludes with a discussion of the true nature of the phenomenon, and how they are being used as part of an "Alien savior" agenda to "transform religion", which is another way of saying to do away with Christianity and replace all religion with a one-world ecumenical religion that abandons Christ altogether.
This is an excellently written and sourced book, and is written in an extremely straightforward, clear manner. This is extremely accessible even to those outside of Christianity.

Fr. Spyridon provides an indepth analysis of a topic first discussed in Fr. Seraphim Rose's Orthodoxy and the Religion of the Future. The modern fascination with UFOs and extraterrestrials often said to be coming to "save humanity."
Opening with recounting a sighting his wife witnessed in her youth Fr. Spyridon continues on detailing some of the history of the UFO movement and how it imbeded itself in the cultural psyche. He provides anlysis of these encounters in light of the lives of the saints of the Orthodox Catholic Church.

Astute analysis on the true nature of the phenomenon.
Father Spyridon clearly did his research before writing this book. I would like too see more writings on this topic coming from a Christian worldview, and especially an Orthodox Christian one. While Fr. Spyridon is not the first to do this, what is unique about his work is the citations from Scripture and the church fathers throughout the centuries that support this view. I also recommend the book and documentary Alien Intrusion by Gary Bates.

This was a great read. Fr. Spyridon writes clearly and to the point. The book is 80% setup about U.F.O's and 20% theological analysis. Both parts are good, but I wish there was more theological content. Especially because his view is unique being an Orthodox priest. 8.5/10

An Orthodoxy take on the UFO-fallen spirit delusion
As what Father Bailey would call a Protestant, I appreciated reading about another Christian’s perspective on the current UFO deception that the fallen sons of God are propagating.
One thing that bugged me is that Father Bailey said Protestants couldn’t see that UFOs are demonic because we are not part of the Orthodox Church. As long as we follow the Old and New Testament Scriptures instead of man’s word, it should be clear. For the Protestant perspective, check out Alien Intrusion by Gary Bates.

This book is 90% overview and history of the UFO phenomenon, and 10% addressing it specifically from the Orthodox perspective. The book is thoroughly cataloged, with tons of references. For those with some familiarity with UFO phenomenon, the first 90% might be a bit repetitive (as it was for me), but the last 10% laid out of clear case of explanation from the Tradition. Definitely worth a read, even if you skim some of the middle portions.
The last 10% contained a plethora of quotes from the Fathers about the spirits of the air, which were quite convincing in themselves, but I do wonder if more examples of UFO-like experiences from pre-20th century history could have been included. Are there examples of aerial phenomenon that contemporaries would have classified as demons that corroborate our modern experience?

Brilliant
A mind blowing book required for all who have had even a passive interest in ufology. I never made the connection to demonic activities and judging also by the fruits of belief in ufos for many people, which Fr. Bailey lays out succinctly here, it makes even more sense.

A very articulate Orthodox view
Our Protestant brethren have a big share of research in the UFO- Demonic correlation but not do much for the Orthodox Church. This the second book that discusses that topic from an Orthodox Christian viewpoint. The first book was written by Father Seraphim Rose and had only one chapter dedicated to that topic. Highly recommended.

Brought Me Closer To Orthodoxy
I started off very frustrated and confused. Aliens and similar have been a great part of my life. This book broke it down for me and made me realize I was deceived. The clarity this book provides did not leave me upset. This is the real Disclosure.

Fr. Spyridon conducted an excellent analysis of the UFO phenomenon. He makes it clear that there are simply too many UFO encounters for them to be alien visitors. One of the problems of our time is that men are once again becoming aware of demonic activity, but they no longer have the Christian framework from which to understand it.
Deception is a recurring motif in the stories of numerous contactees, who often feel that they have been mocked by the treatment of the aliens. It seems that this is nothing more than a “control system”, and some of the researchers of this phenomenon believe that the purpose of this is to manipulate human beliefs.
Where once the demons presented themselves as angels, now, in a culture that has lost its connection with the Christian faith, they take on the form of extraterrestrials. But the purpose remains the same, regardless of what they pretend to be: to create confusion and lead men away from God.
It is not only Orthodox Christianity that recognizes how the UFO phenomenon is deeply rooted in psychic and occult activities. The U.S. Government Printing Office published a report in 1969 that was prepared by the Library of Congress for the U.S. Air Force Office of Scientific Research, it stated: Many of the UFO reports now being published in the popular press recount alleged incidents that are strikingly similar to demonic possession and psychic phenomena which have long been known to theologians.
The last few sentences of this review contain a few quotations from this book.

🖋️ The author begins: “The official story about UFOs began in 1933 when sightings were reported in Scandinavian newspapers of what were called “ghost ships”. In the same year there were some sightings too in Britain, and eye-witnesses described strange aircraft circling low over the ground, often in poor flying conditions, emitting powerful beams of light as though searching for something.” I found this book interesting, with a thoughtful and different perspective on aliens and UFOs. Yes, it is thought-provoking.

Honestly, 2 starts may be a bit high. He presents a good counterpoint to the "traditional" UFO narrative, but he ironically ends up confirming a lot of what someone like Jacques Vallee says--that the NHI are deceiving us. The difference is that Father Spyridon believe the NHI are actually demons trying to draw us away from Orthodox Christianity while Dr. Vallee admits he doesn't know what the NHI are after.
Father Spyridon also goes a bit off topic talking about evolution being a lie (it's not and he clearly doesn't understand the theory of evolution). Overall, it's a pretty fundamentalist take on UFOs. If you're a true believer, I doubt you'll find anything here that violates your conscience. If you're a bit open-minded or a non-believer like me, you'll get a few novel ideas, but would be better off reading something else.

Absolutely THE best book and analysis on the UFO phenomenon that I have yet read. It confirms all my preconceived ideas of UFOs and immediately turned them into undeniable conviction. Just as I firmly believe dragons and dinosaurs are one in the same thing (with modern interpretation projecting a false view due to a sense of "enlightenment" and a deliberate falling away from God, spiritual reality, and Christianity), so do I firmly believe aliens are a modern interpretation of demons, and the evidence and discussion Fr. Spyridon lays bare in this heavily researched and honest volume further confirms this. If you yourself (whether athiest, agnostic, or fellow Christian) have any doubt about this claim, I humbly suggest you pick up this volume and hear him out; it may indeed surprise you!

This was a very interesting read, especially as someone who was raised Protestant and also isn’t convinced that UFOs are nuts and bolts crafts. Also, as someone who is skeptical of the paranormal 90% of the time, I found myself agreeing with the author up to a certain point, on some topics.
I feel like I got two different perspectives. I was introduced to a side of a religion I was raised with and was not at all familiar with. It was also interesting reading another side of the anti nuts and bolts argument. Aliens being demons sounds just as crazy as them popping in from another dimension if you really think about it.
Also, the chapter about Carl Sagan was pretty funny. Gotta love when an author picks a side and goes for it.

Wow. Just wow. This was an amazing book that I will definitely be coming back to later. I do wish he would have gone more into detail about the demonic connections-like sharing stories from the lives of the saints that are similar-but that is my only gripe and not something I am willing to take a star off for. Amazing book! I do recommend getting it if you are interested in the phenomenon from any faith perspective, for I believe it shows how the Orthodox are the only group who can explain what really happens in these encounters.

Great book on the current hype of UFOs from an Orthodox perspective. Father Spyridon does not dismiss them as delusion but as a reality we must face, bit not necessarily as the reality they are.presemtrd to us as. He opens the book with the admission that his wife had an encounter with an UFO as a teenager and he approaches the subject not as a skeptic but as a man aware of the spiritual warfare that we find ourselves in which has existed from the dawn of time. Great read. Highly recommend.

It isn't frightening as in someone is going to Hades because you may be interested in UFOs, but logically and methodically - while keeping my interest - he brings forward points I did not notice before. Also, his footnotes are a wonderful reading list.
I have read several of the scientists referred. Now I will look into the Orthodox Christian side.

Good book
This is an interesting book of thought. I do not completely agree with his concerns, I do think it is worth the read. The author lost me with the idea that talk about environmental disaster will lead to one world government. That idea could have been introduced sooner and then tie it in with ufo deception. Maybe that is the next book.

Well researched and written but as expected totally one sided
Fr Bailey is an extraordinary writer who can move from poetry to fiction and then to theology with ease. It is always a pleasure to read his work. The downside is that any idea or perspective which doesn't coincide with his view is heresy. Thus, other Christian confessions and religions come under attack.

A nice book by one of my favorite Eastern Orthodox priests, Fr Spyridon Bailey! I do not agree with all of his opinions on this topic at all. This is an area where we differ, and that is totally fine. It will not affect my gratitude & admiration for him whatsoever. He may completely change his mind or I may change my mind, or maybe we will both change our minds/views/opinions. 3.5 stars

Well worth the reading time.
One would of think a book on Orthodox theology applied to UFOs would be a page turner. This one is. It reads like a thriller, or legal mystery. Michael Crichton could not have done better if he tried. However, this story is both true and absolutely essential for a complete understanding of the UAP/UFO phenomenon.
