”Come on, everyone knows you shouldn’t mess with ancient rituals. That’s, like, the first rule of archeology.”

Aphra and Sana are continuing their mission to look for Ascendant artefacts for Domina Tagge, who is hiding a rather big secret from them: Ronen Tagge is not dead after all, and he seems to be rather upset with Aphra (understandably). Aphra and Sana also come face-to-face with a mysterious figure from Aphra's past.

I loved everything about this issue.

This new storyline with Aphra and Sana looking for Ascendant technology is just so cool and interesting. I love it when Doctor Aphra the series gets to be weird and out-there with its stories, artefacts and all that. The Ascendant are fascinating and I'm loving them the more we learn about them: they were creepy for sure and came up with the worst weapons, but they sure are interesting and exactly the kind of cult/people that I love having Aphra investigate.

Aphra and Sana are still an impeccable duo. I also love seeing how using the Thought Dowser and other Ascendant objects is affecting Aphra - I have a feeling something big is coming up in regards to that and I can't wait. The new antagonist that's introduced, Farrus, was also great - funny, strange, intriguing and smart. I also really appreciate the fact that Farrus is explicitly non-binary (they are referred to with they/them pronouns) - representation is always important and I'm just so happy how this comic continues to become queerer and queerer. I love it. Huge kudos to Alyssa Wong for that.

This comic continues to be one of the best ongoing comics out at this moment and overall one of my favourite SW comics of all time.

Bonus points for a complete lack of Just Lucky! A new nemesis seems fun as well, although I don't really feel like Crimson Dawn brings the fear as much as the Sith do...

Doctor Aphra talking about turning over a new leaf does have me wanting to reread her first series, just to enjoy how chaotic she was with the main Star Wars cast.

I wonder if there's actually enough of her in the War of the Bounty Hunters series to bother reading it...
