Side Note: This book tried too hard to be like FSOG but failed miserably and it didn't help that the author kept making references about it in this book. She also kept name-dropping a bunch of celebrities that would never associate with these assholes let alone be friends them. This book was a complete and total waste of my time.

Wtf did I just read lol is the author glorifying cheating? Cause that's basically what this book is. He cheats on his wife with a high schooler btw. And later on she cheats on her fiance with this same guy. Cheating is so cool guys, let's all do it and not give a crap that you're hurting people. Ok your relationship with your wife isn't good. Fix it or divorce her. What's the point of cheating.

This chick (I'm not even gonna pretend I remember the names of this ridiculous book) obviously doesn't even love her fiancé. Break it off dummy. Wtf is wrong with these characters. Just idiotic and immature and selfish. Grow the F up. Who wants to read a book with characters like these. Ughhh left a bad taste in my mouth.

Ooh and she's pissed because he didn't leave his wife who he thought was having a baby. Like dude you're the freaking homewrecker. Plus your parents divorced and it wasn't fun, why wouldn't you want a family to stay together if they're trying to work it out. Ugh selfish pricks. I hate stupid drama. This is the worst type of "romance". And Julian was creepy af, they didn't even have chemistry and all of a sudden they're in love. Gag me with a spoon. You can do better. Pass. Next. Do not continue the series.

This is why you don't cheat kids.

I HATED this book!!! Never did I ever get THIS annoyed by a book (perhaps, "The Duke and I" can relate.)

There is so many wrong things in this book, the writing style was okay but boy did this book k-word me! I am down for any book but this was just NOT IT!

1. This promotes cheating! Charlie literally engages in a relationship with her best friend's brother which would have been okay but he is married!?? IT IS NOT OKAY! GIRL COME ON YOU ARE BLOODY 18 FREAKING YEARS OLD AND YOU DEFINITELY KNOW THAT YOU ARE THE SIDE GIRL SO DON'T CHEAT! I mean if they're in love, then at least be honest about your love and open up the facts with people instead of continuing the shit game. See if Lex and Samantha were in an unhappy marriage, then they should have at least been honest with each other as to they are cheating with each other by indulging in extramarital affairs. Like duh, what's the point of even staying in that relationship if you are getting nothing out of it; to a point where they can't even tell each other that they both don't love each other anymore? That is not an excuse for Lex to cheat on his wife with his sister's best friend and its not an excuse for Charlie either for messing around with a married man (EVEN IF THEY LOVE EACH OTHER!)

2. This is like a sub-point of the previous point. If they are really not in love and are physically involved with other people, they why did Samantha lie about the baby being Lex's when she ended up with the baby's dad anyway? Like there's nothing she gets out of it apart from hate and unhappiness. Honestly, that was the worst possible move ever because she could have easily just been honest and directly started a new life with whoever the baby's dad is! What is the point-like seriously was it just to add to the plot? To me, it's more like a plot hole.

3. The fact that in spite of being in love, Lex does NOT respect his girl's privacy and will. Even when he got to know that she is engaged to Julian, he could have at least not forced her or aroused her by playing with her feelings! Bro, I understand if you are heartbroken and possessive about her but that does not give you any right to sexually break her boundaries knowing that she will ultimately be mad at you. YOU WERE THE ONE WHO BROKE HER THE FIRST TIME SO BACK OFF IF SHE DOES NOT TRUST YOU IN THE FIRST GO!

4. Charlie is so indecisive! She plays around all the time like she knows that she is engaged but if she is having feelings for Lex, then she could have opened up about it with Julian so that he doesn't get broken just like how she was 9 years ago. If she has experienced that trauma so much so that she was admitted to the psych ward, then why the hell does she do the same to Julian?? I know that it was for the plot but there are so many ways this story could be re-written without all the cheating that happened. She literally sleeps with both the guys, kisses both of them, and says "I want you" to both all while being engaged to one. If she needs time to decide, she could have taken it without cheating or indulging sexually with the other one and then lied about it when asked. She also does the same mistake when she was 18 and she plays around with her best friend's brother! She could have been with him if he was single and if everyone was in the know about the relationship including the families of the involved parties!

5. This sets the wrong examples for teenagers and other people! Cheating is NOT acceptable in any given scenario even if the couple is not in love anymore. If they had JUST been honest and kept one another informed about their what they feel, it would have been so simple alright, but going behind each other's back is so dumb!

So overall, this was a pain in the brain for me! I don't think I will ever pick up the other books in this series
Ps. Read this for my book club (Book of the month for June) :(

1.5✨

I’m all for love triangles but not when it’s CHEATING and LYING.

Literally starts off and she is 18 and still in high school he’s 25 and MARRIED and she’s very obviously the side chick he won’t leave his wife for.

His wife gets pregnant and she moves away. Eventually she meets Julian and gets engaged to him and shortly after the original dude is back and she is cheating on Julian with him and lying straight to Julian’s face about it saying nothing is going on.
Then she literally goes and marries the other dude while engaged to Julian and still pursuing shit with him.

It’s one thing if you’re not actually in “official” relationships / the other person knows you’re dating other people or if the relationship is super unhappy like if Julian was cheating and abusive and she couldn’t get out. But Julian was fine, annoying, but fine. And the problems with his jealousy and paranoia were all legitimate issues caused by her cheating on him and lying to him. She would literally cheat on him in other rooms while he was there. Like what.

Also, this was juggled between her POV and the POV for the loser she ended up marrying and the writing was so annoying because you’d read it in her POV then read the EXACT same situation/interaction from his POV. There was nothing different, I didn’t need to read 3 chapters of the same stuff from both POVs multiple times.

Overall, it’s a big NO from me.

DNF at 23%

I don't know why I picked this up. I think I thought it was a paranormal. It has the word "Angel" in the summary so you know. Anyhow. I did not finish at 23%

The book was really interesting at first. I love a second chance novel but around the 20% mark it got a little slow. Then I realized a few things and I had to know. So I went on Goodreads and read the spoiler.

Yup. Not for me.

It never hurts to try new authors though!

Though the character background is built up , it thrives on infedility .They were together when he was married and they were cheating behind his wife's back . No person should have to go through it even if they deserve the worst . Fast forward 9 years they are cheating behind her new fiance's back . She can't even admit to her fiance when he asked her point blank if she was cheating . They get off on cheating on their partners and I feel the absolute worst for Julian , he was being dragged as her backup plan incase she decides her infedility is enough . Hate the main characters and no one should be a victim of cheating partners.

I don’t normally leave reviews on books, but this book really pissed me the fuck off. So buckle in, and be prepared for spoilers. But it’s not major spoilers, because I feel like this book has no actual plot.

For starters, the entire book is them cheating on their partners to be with each other. Alex cheated on his wife, and 9 years later Charlie cheated on her fiancé. You can’t call it a love triangle because they don’t want to be with the other person, they are just using the other person as a fail safe. No one in their entire life actually ACKNOWLEDGES the cheating, they just accept it as if it’s normal to have a FUCKING FIANCÉ AND CHEAT ON THEM.
I thought at some point (like a third in the book) she would dump the fiancé but nope, she sticks with him and tells him all the fucking lies, even though she has multiple opportunities to come clean. She doesn’t even acknowledge that what she is doing is bad. At one point Charlie and Alex pretend to be married for a weekend (with a ring and everything, they even call each other husband and wife) while still engaged to Julian (Charlie’s fiancé).
I get that she has trauma from Alex in the past, and that’s why she can’t commit to him now. But sometimes men are shit and it sucks, but this doesn’t give you a reason to be a shit person and a horrible fiancé. Don’t bring down someone else, especially someone who is sweet and cares for you, just because you’re a bitch and in love with a trash man.

Another reason I hated this book, Charlie is so fucking annoying and degrading to other women (Alex is too, and it makes me throw up and want to punch something but it pisses me off more when the hate comes from other women). These characters have no actual development. Alex is the worst kind of dude, he isn’t even a good Dom, so don’t expect that going into this book.

My last thing that I will hate on, is the ending. It was the worst, most confusing cliff-hanger I have ever seen. Nothing would ever make me want to continue the series, so the cliff-hanger was just dumb and unnecessary.

The writing was pretty good, I just hated the repetition of the same scenes from different points of view all the time.

Overall, I would never recommend it unless it was a punishment. If I recommend this book to you, without a warning that’s it’s crap, just know that I secretly hate you.

Self note
-H cheats on his wife with h (almost sleeps with his wife while having an affair with the h, but h catches him and stops).
Then in book 2, h cheats on her fiance with H, and the H cheats on the h (who is now his wife) with his assistant 50 pages from the end/

Every character is a cheater.

Also this lovely bit about the H in book 2:

"Lex/H gets hard whenever he sees an attractive woman (it happens so often), women come onto him all the time, he goes to strip clubs all the time, gets women dry humping all over him, a woman was spread with her legs apart in his bedroom, IN HIS PENTHOUSE after he and Charlie are married because apparently he gave this girl a key in the past. He was very attracted to his personal assistant Kate, and talks about her body and their connection. Whenever he was upset with Charlie, he would come on to other women (pure chance he didn’t sleep with them, one of them being a business partner who had tried to come into him before, but SHE rejects him this time saying he’d regret it). 2.5-2.75 only for Lex stars!

So I start by stating that I, like many other readers, have some big pet peeves that make or break a book for me. 1.) I despise love triangles, they never end well. 2.) Cheating is just wrong, period. 3.) Female leads that make me want to pull my hair out. CHEERS, this book has all 3 of my big no-no’s.

Why in the hell did I read it then? No idea why but I couldn’t stop until I had some answers. Honestly Lex Edwards alone was enough to make me push through this train-wreck!

In a quick nutshell…Charlotte and Lex have a complicated past. Forbidden love, betrayal, loss and lots of baggage weighing them down into the future. Charlotte moved on to be a successful lawyer. Lex an international tycoon. Never crossing paths they have lived to the best of their abilities. She is dating “batman” and engaged (yet really doesn’t feel the “jolt.” He is bedding blondes all over the world in a drunken haze. The inevitable happens….face to face in a crowded restaurant!

Ok, so I was fully invested into this book up until now, but whoa the drama, piss poor decisions, and overall WTF starts to happen. Let’s just say that Charlotte had me screaming. Two men want her…honestly I think it is because she is a shameless slut! But that aside…she carries on with life with her fiancée as if she is so happy all while banging the hell out of Lex any place, any location, any way!

The push-pull was way too much for me. Lex was honestly a man broken. He had loved Charlotte since he was 23 and he wants her, plain and simple. Charlotte, she too wants Lex, but it seem like she only wants him naked. Yea, yea I hear all her griping about being hurt but hey buttercup, you are crushing 2 men!

So here is where I stop…obviously there is lots of story filled with serious heat, some LOL fun friend times, OMG scenes, and a bunch of WTF are you doing situations. I found myself skimming thru and reading only the Lex and Charlotte scenes.

Again, I cannot say I liked this…. I just couldn’t stop reading it! I need book 2 to “fix this for me”

But am I reading the second book because of the cliffhanger? Yes , yes I am

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I actually enjoyed this book, it was a bit long winded, it just felt like I was never going to finish it, but in saying that I flew through those pages!!

With the cheating aspect of this story I don't think alot of people will jump on this and read it (that is just my honest opinion) I don't condone cheating in any shape or form in life but reading about it bring it!! Warped I know shoot me!! lol

A TRAGIC LOVE STORY SPANNING OVER THE YEARS

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The story just pulls you in, I did hate the lying and cheating that occurred in this and just wanted to strangle them both

TWO SOULS BROKEN AND SCARRED

Lies, deceit, cheating, love, forgiveness, left broken hearted, I could sit here and list everything this book had but no other words will explain how captivated and lost I was on this heart felt journey of two lost souls that should've been together right from the start, a clusterfuck of a train wreck waiting to pull me under, I will be stalking the author for the next book in this series!!

TWO WRONGS DON'T MAKE A RIGHT

And do not get me started on Lex *fans face* I shit you not this guy sounds over the top HOT, these two together are like like panty wetting rabbits on speed!!

AN EXPLOSIVE LOVE STORY

FORGIVENESS

Reading this I had such conflicting emotions that ran through me, I wanted to yell with the frustration of it all, bat man just seemed so right for her but when her soul mate made a reappearance in her life you could feel the struggle of holding back that temptation of just one more taste..

These people just try to come up with lazy excuses why cheating is okay if it’s with ‘your person’. That’s such bullshit. If you meet someone and fall in love, BREAK UP with your SO BEFORE anything can happen. Everything else is inexcusable. You don’t want to take that risk? Boohoo, too bad. Means you are the bad guy, plain and simple. This is such a toxic relationship. I hated every second. Never again.

This one was WILD. But oh my god steam level: 🌶🌶🌶 if you like “my best friends brother” tropes then this is the one for you! It was definitely an emotional rollercoaster and I can’t say I didn’t enjoy it… ONTO THE NEXT IN THE SERIES

Reread review: okay damn. This one hits hard YALL. You will 10000% be feeling all the emotions and it’s just such a journey but one worth taking. I need to start the second book IMMEDIATELY (it’s a duet) and see what happens because I’m dying to know!!!!

This novel alternates POVs and has a past and present timeline. We start off meeting Charlie who is this badass family lawyer (with an amazing shoe obsession) as she meets Julian. We jump back to the past when Charlie meets her best friends brother Alex, and we learn about how their relationship started. SO much happens and you learn more about both men and it ends up where Charlie is of course choosing who it’s going to be. END GAME. You get tugged in both directions but I just can’t help who I’m drawn toward for her!!!

Is a broken past worth fighting for?? Or is it better to move on with the new and improved type of love?

This steamy romance is one you definitely will enjoy if you like the tropes below!!

Tropes:
-Forbidden relationship
-Best friends brother
-love triangle
-second chance romance
-CEO romance
-🍑 play
-CNC

Into the darkness Smfh..... Fuck me!!!!

I had major issues with this book Idk why all the high reviews. Firstly imma start with the authors writting skills with wasnt all that bad but with her writting in first response and then to have scenes being repeated over and over that's what makes it a problem. It was like every scene was repeated twice whenever Charlie or Lex gave their POV. This made the book long and boring. Also with moving back it time to tell how Lex and Charlie came about. I really didn't pick up anything from it, it was like reading a different book in a book. Very ridiculous, absolutely no meaning whatsoever. In my opinion this book could have been a standalone. The writter just had too much going on so it blew up into a whole mess. Didn't like Charlie's character at all. Very annoying and stubborn as Fuck. I mean understand what Lex did but he explained, Adriana explained even Samantha explained but still you choose to be this annoying Bitch who can even be honest to herself let alone Julian. She makes me so angry. So in the end as much as I wanted to enjoy the story I didn't.

***FIVE STARS!***
My amazing friend A.J. told me to read this story, and I was ecstatic to find that I already had it on my kindle. I picked it up years ago as a freebie, and I cannot believe I've have this little gem on my kindle all this time and never knew a thing about it.

This story flipped back and forth in time from Charlie's high school years to seven years later in the present, to get a feel for Charlie's and Lex's history, The buildup in their younger years to their affair was smokin' hot, and I was aching to have them finally come together, despite Alex already being married to another woman. It was totally worth the wait too, because these two were scorching hot together. Every. Single. Time.

In the present day, when these two finally meet up again, Charlie is already engaged to Julian (who is a sex god himself-such a lucky girl). Lex sets his sights on Charlie, and HAS to have her again. Not only have her, but to make her his for real this time. There wasn't much that could stop these two. They had a soulmate kind of magnetic pull between them, and they couldn't keep their hands off from each other. When Charlie finally lets her guard down and stops fighting her losing battle to Lex, these two continued to have scorching hot sex!

I kind of felt bad for the sweetheart Julian in the beginning, but the dude was NEVER around. He might has well have put a bow on Charlie and handed her to Lex himself. I was getting frustrated as hell with Charlie's hot and cold attitude toward Lex. I just wanted her to let go, and let herself love him so they could truly be together as a couple finally. I got my wish as well as the answers to what made her so closed off. This story was coming together so nicely in the ending, and I really thought these two were finally going to get their long awaited HEA. That HEA had a huge ass monkey wrench thrown in at the very end, and everything went to shit. So happy the next 3 books are already available so I don't have to wait for them! Ahh, the perks of having a book on my kindle for YEARS before discovering it! Now I'm on to Book 2 to find out what comes next.

One of the worst half-books I've ever read (because it's not a full arc it's huge book split in half so it ends unfinished), I will not be accepting recs from the tiktoker that recced this again LOL

I'll leave y'all with a quote from this book:

"Um, so Thailand is notorious for l*dyboys. They would have been in l*dyboy heaven seeing you.
"Charlotte, I don't know what you're implying, but I don't pay for sex, and I think it's pretty obvious which ones are boys and which ones are girls."
"You'd like to think so, right? Just ask Rocky." She erupts into a ball of laughter holding onto her stomach.
I joined in, but the shock is too much. "No way!"
"He didn't sleep with one, but his close encounter was enough to send him into hiding for days."
The thought is hilarious, and we laugh for what feels like forever.

Oh, why not, let's have another small one:

"I own a club, After Dark. Not sure if you've heard of it?"
Of course, he has heard of it. Aren't gays known for their fashion sense and club life? The second his eyes light up, I know I'm on the ball.
"Oh-em-gee, like hello! It's the hottest spot in town right now," he squeals, clapping his hands in delight.

....Yeah. This book can just go away.

I went into this book with an open mind. I can handle cheating stories, I grew up loving soaps with my grandma. But seriously -I could barely handle another minute of these two assholes. And by assholes I mean Lex and Charlotte.

Lex is a rich, bullying, manwhore - I expect he'll be a pig. But Charlotte. The so-called fucking heroine. She's a cheating, lying, pathetic piece of shit as well. First she is the other woman, then she's the cheating fiance. And I am supposed to like her and want her to have a HEA? Not happening. Her enabling friends were just as disgusting as she was. And less mature then some of the 12 year olds I teach sadly.

At least these two cheating pigs end up with each other. They were apart ten years. Their love isn't that strong (insert eyeroll)

I'll read the next couple of books cause I handle a certain amount of punishment (like I said soap opera fan) and only to see where Julian's story goes. I was tempted to give one star based on the shitty people in it but the writing isn't terrible so I bumped it up to two.

Even though Charlie irked the hell out of me with her infidelity and actions somehow I understand the conundrum of being torn between your past and supposedly future, given that her relationship with Julian is new, they did not have that fierce loved and emotional bond unlike when she was with Alex, they fell in love hard, so there's a deeper history. Don't get me wrong I don't condone cheating
To cheat with your partner under any circumstances is condemning and detrimental. Worst, you do not drag down the other person it is sad and unbecoming. But for this I'd say "All is fair in love and war" lastly I'm not a fan of the "cliffhanger", it was so cliché as a conflict. It's been done numerous times in romance novels, but since this is a Duet I'll make a pass.

DNF:
No matter how hard I try to get over, I can’t. Cheating trope is just not for me. I absolutely hate it, as soon as I realize that cheating is involved I can’t read any further. I tried to ignore it and continue reading this book so I can finish it, but was unsuccessful. The guy was cheating on his wife before and then MC cheats on her fiancé for the same guy. I got a chance to talk to this book’s author on TikTok, and she said there was no other way since she got pregnant with his baby at 18. So it was always Alexander, but still I feel like cheating could’ve been avoided.

This book doesn’t even deserve a one star rating. I genuinely hate every character in this book and wish them a slow and painful death.

Anyway, I feel like this book was written by a 15 year old wattpad author. Seriously, I haven’t cringed this hard in a while.

This book summed up : cheating, distasteful sex talk, more cheating, childish characters.

But to be fair it’s my fault for trusting tiktok. 😬
