Captive #6

Eternally His

Rate this book
He’s a cold-blooded criminal. Nearly twenty years older than me. My stern captor. And worst of all...my husband.

I betrayed the cartel. Now, he’ll make sure I can never leave it. To keep me in line, I’ll be forced to spend my eternity with a ruthless criminal.

If only I hadn’t harbored a traitorous, girlish crush for years. If only the way he makes me tremble wasn’t equal parts fear and desire. If only that stern black stare didn’t make my knees weak.

It would be so much easier to defy him.
My unyielding jailor.
My husband.
My forever.

To much push and pull from both of them , mostly him.
I didn't like her behavior in the first half of it.
I hated how many times he didn't want to look her in the eyes because she reminds him of OW,a girl from his past.
I hated that even in their first time together he fucking blindfolded her, and bounded her to not look at her eyes or let her touch him. That was so freaking annoying
The pace it's too slow for my liking! they were intimate only like around 80%, and up to that point he rejected her multiple times , i just hated it.
I kept reading only because i thought always that something will be coming to make it up for it but NOPE.
Sigh, i just liked the start and that's it.
I get he is hunted from his past, i was ok with that but not with the fact that he kept thinking about Maria, that shit doesn't sit well with me even if he was with that girl like 30 years ago.
I don't care. This book had potential but unfortunately was completely ruined.
How romantic gahhhh.

❤~🌟~❤ 4.5 ETERNAL STARS ❤~🌟~❤

“My bride. I’d fought for her. I’d claimed her. She was mine.”

Whenever Julia Sykes reveals that she has the next installment in her Captive series in the works, I become positively giddy with anticipation. Because this author just nails it EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. And not surprisingly, this dark romance guru outdid herself with ETERNALLY HIS. This age gap/ forced marriage cartel tale is chock full of scorching hot romance, high octane emotion, and adrenaline pumping action that left my pulse racing, my chest constricting and my body tingling from head to toe!

PREMISE:
Born into a dangerous world, Isabel Vera has lived a sheltered distance to shield her from the worst aspects of her family’s criminal enterprise. But still, she could not escape her brother’s cruel wrath. Now his sins have caught up with him after an attempted coup he orchestrated goes horribly awry and he’s perished in a bloody massacre that nearly annihilated her too. But her life was blessedly spared due to her very own Avenging Angel. However, as the last surviving member of her family, her woes are far from over when she is caught trying to help a friend escape mobster Raúl Guerrero, whom she believes is holding her captive. Her penance for betraying the cartel? She must marry Sebastián Castillo, the taciturn older man who’d rescued her on that horrific day. But not even her big, hulking protector can spare her now from the bleak future that awaits her. For although Isabel has secretly harbored a crush on the ruggedly handsome mobster ever since he rescued her, and always felt oddly safe in his presence, this more terrifying side to him that emerges as his fate becomes inexorably tied with hers leaves her quaking!

And it doesn’t help matters that her stern former savior turned captor is just as appalled at being forced to wed the duplicitous beauty to ensure she never jeopardizes the cartel again. For despite her supposed naivete, this woman rouses his ire and stirs his blood like no other! Yet as time goes on, his stern punishments to keep his wayward bride in line pave the way for soul deep feelings and scorching hot lust that threatens to wreck them both. Can Sebastián slay his demons in order to open his heart to love or will their enemies steal his precious "tesoro"away forever?

MY MUSINGS:
Every time I lose myself within the pages of a Julia Sykes dark captivity romance, I am floored by this author’s extraordinary gift for crafting a spellbinding mafia romance that titillates and tantalizes from start to finish! And ETERNALLY HIS is no exception !

I relished the manner in which Ms. Sykes wove this tumultuous love story between two enemies who are shackled together against their will, but ultimately find sweet salvation in each other. The romance between Isabel and Sebastián is all consuming. Complicated. And oh so combustible! You are thrust full throttle into the lives of these complex characters from page one and the momentum just continues to build from there!

Isabel is an intoxicating combination of endearingly sweet innocence and brazen spitfire, but despite her aura of fragility and aching vulnerability, she has a backbone of steel. After being subjected to mistreatment and abuse by the men in her family, all she ever wanted was to be free of the cartel. To be safe. But now her actions have chained her deeper into that life than ever before. So, despite her magnetic attraction to Sebastián, she hates that her new husband is stripping her of her freedom, her worldly possessions and treats her like a virtual prisoner in his home. And ouch! He sure doesn’t hold back on dishing out harsh discipline when she displeases him! Yet there are chinks in her “jailer’s” icy facade and over time she begins to see renewed glimpses of the fierce savior she once worshipped!

As for Sebastián, his reputation precedes him. As a ruthlessly loyal member of the cartel, he has no mercy for his enemies. But despite her traitorous misdeeds, there is something about his caramel eyed little wife that brings out the savage protector, and THE DEPRAVED DOMINATOR, in him! I love the evolution of his character as she slowly but surely chips away at the steel of armor around his heart and unveils his gruffly tender side. But she also brings the dark demons he’s been trying to outrun to the surface as well. I can’t resist a ferociously possessive anti-hero with a twisted, tortured soul who is both soft and hard, tough yet tender, exuding fascinating shades of gray and Sebastián is that to a T! And gah as far as magnetic silver foxes go? Hot damn! He exudes so much power and potency and raw, feral intensity he fuels my every dark BBF fantasy. And I for one would not mind at all being the object of his obsessive devotion, or to be swept up into his dark and dangerous world! And when a woman is under his protection—watch out! Because this take no prisoners cartel commando will go to the ends of the earth to protect his bride!

This tension-fraught love story unfolds at a slow burn but once their passion ignites it’s absolutely explosive! Even so, they have a lot of hurt and pain, deceit and mistrust to wade through. Because while at first Sebastián saw Isabel as nothing more than a disloyal thorn in his side, in no time “the little traitor with the bewitching eyes” completely disarms him and when he sees her true beauty, inside and out, he becomes helplessly beguiled by her. But even though he claims her as his for ETERNITY, he lives a very dangerous lifestyle and is still wrestling with ghosts from his past that prevents him from feeling worthy of Isabel’s love. I adore his battle between dark and light and while he is undoubtedly her savior, in many ways she becomes his lifeline as well!

And although at first she is terrified of this volatile, mercurial man and hates being at his mercy, his possessive hunger and kinky predilections set a match to her own wickedly wanton desires! And against all odds, amid all the mayhem, in his strong, sheltering arms, she finds peace and belonging that surpass her wildest dreams.

And as with all of her books, the colorful cast of secondary characters bring a wealth of entertainment and excitement, suspense and subterfuge to the gory yet glamorous cartel world that they live in! When all is said and done, can true love prevail amid the storm of chaos that swirls around them? Gotta read to find out but brace yourself for some exhilarating twists and turns, gut-wrenching heartache and nail-biting peril to keep you on pins and needles till the epic end.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

OH MY HELL! Eternally His was so good, and I sure didn't see it coming the way it did to be honest. Most of the time I'm all about the heroine, but in this case, I totally fell for the hero quicker so BRAVO Julia Sykes. See, Isabel is a Cartel princess who definitely didn't learn a thing from her family since she was naive enough to betray the Cartel, and didn't count on the retaliation. It ended with her having to marry a man quite a bit older than her named Sebastian, and he sure as hell didn't want to get married. Despite all of that, they definitely had some serious chemistry but since he was basically her jailer, the journey wasn't smooth sailing by any means, but man was it addictive for me since I couldn't stop reading until I had finished every last page. Isabel didn't stay a pain in the behind for me, but to see if she finally grew on Sebastian, well, you'll have to hit those one click buttons since I'll never tell! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Okk soo, men with white hair on covers terrify me because they usually have a huge age gap and they keep reminding me of my grandfather 🙃. Which is weird I know lol, and try to ignore it as much as I can.

That being said, I am such a huge fan of this author! Her heroes are the best and so was this book. This one was a dark mafia standalone romance with an age gap of 20 whopping years between the main leads. The heroine has had a crush on the hero who is older than her and more mature in every way. Her one mistake lands her in a lot of trouble and the only way to get out of it is to marry the man she has always wanted. But she soons learns that there is more to him and his terrifying ways make her shake in desire but also scare her. She wants to run away but he won't let her. There is only one way this story ends and it won't be a happy ending.

This book had a bit of kink in it and a few triggering scenes since it was a dark mafia romance. The story was smooth with no huge plot twists but I liked the chemistry between the main leads . Recommending this one to all the dark mafia romance loving people out there!

Eternally His...Isabel  Is an innocent cartel princess. Her brother and father were abusive to her. Sebastian is a ruthless, cartel enforcer who is twice her age. They are forced in a marriage because of a naïve choice Isabel made. Their tolerance of each other turns into an unbreakable bond and eternal love. Julia Sykes did a great job telling their back stories. They both had a rough past which strengthen their bond. He is her protector and she becomes his protector too. The twist really surprised me. I expected something to happen but not that. This was a good story but I had a hard time with the age difference. I would still recommend this book.

We met Isabel Vera in the last book Ruthless Savior and if you read that book you will know Isabel made a big mistake and now she has to pay for it. And because of that Isa has to marry Sebastian or be killed for what she did. Sebastian wants nothing to do with this marriage any more than she does.

Over time these two will have to learn to live together and find a happy place or their lives will always be in fighting mod. These two deserve so much more than that. Sebastian is a wonderful character who falls in love with his wife over time, but is afraid of his past. And Isa is a strong woman who is afraid of being hurt and the mafia. Can these two ever find a happy marriage? Of course, they can. Eventually.

I need to read this series. Yes you can read this book as a standalone like I did. You do get cliff notes on what happened with the previous couple & Mafia world they are set in.

"I was bound to her for the rest of my life now. For my eternity"

Isabel & Sebastiàn love story is a age gap, suspense, mafia and long burn love story. Yes there are load of tense heated moment but not sex...until a incident on a dance floor waken the beast😈

Her brother Daniel was cruel to her he beat her and he killed the birds in the garden. When he beat her she would go in that and listen to them. Now the still no birds, no form of birds came near the garden. My heart broke for her what the men in her family did to her and she finds comfort & safety alone. When Sebastiàn came to apologise over one if their fights she told him that she forgive him but, can he leave her so she can be alone

Isabel is also very brave because she was ready to give up her life to save Marisol. She knows the rules of the Cartel do not go to cops. She did to save Marisol however, Marisol & Raúl are a couple now. Their story Ruthless Savior. Because of the meaning behind the betrayed Stefano decided to keep her a live under the man that saved her last time Sebastiàn

Sebastiàn has been in this cartel since he was 15 years old. He is a dangerous silver fox and he is haunted by the demons of his past. So when he told Isabel about them he shocked by her gentleness towards him and he accepts her touch just in small doses...no spoilers. This man is full of harsh demons and his Angel healed them for him like he healed hers

What I love most about Sebastiàn & Isabel's relationships that they build up their trust for each other. Isabel to trust & believe he will never hurt like other had and, Sebastiàn to trust she will not go to the cops and won't post cartel secrets online. When it came to their love scene it was perfect. It happened at the right time in their relationship and Marisol had a little hand in it as well. It was her idea to get their husband on yhe dance floor...

This story was complete surpsie to me because I didn't expect it to be this slow their romance and the main theme in their love story is trust. The villian in this story is not the Cartel itself, nope someone else is....no spoilers

Eternally His (Captive #6) by Julia Sykes . Let me start with is that this book can be read as a standalone. Isabel is a Cartel princess. She lives a sheltered life and is left to the mercy of her physical abusive brother. Now that he is dead and she is the last remaining member of the family, she knows her life is nothing. Accepting of her fate she thought she would help someone by betraying the Cartel. Her penance for her actions is she has to marry Sebastian more than 20 years her senior. Good looking, sexy and that whole brooding look as well as being a stone cold killer is who Sebastian is. Isabel is scared and mad over the fact she has to marry Sebastian but at the same time he does make her lady bits tingle. Sebastian has plenty of demons and getting married was never part of his life. Eventhough he has thoughts about Isabel, he never planned on acting on them he definitely wasn't going to marry her. I loved Sebastian, Isabel was another story. I couldn't believe someone who grew up in the life was so sheltered that she had no clue as the possible repercussions of her action. I was struggling with this story because of her. Sebastian kept me going. His form of punishment for his belligerent wife was certainly entertaining and left my imagination running wild. Eventually Isabel was able to redeem herself to me and by the end I was in love with her and Sebastian and their story. As far as I am concern Sebastian is the story, his life and experiences were it for me. 4 stars for me

This was a riveting, well written and great character to read and enjoy
This is a wonderful read and it was wonderful to enjoy reading about Isobel who was sweet but also a little too trusting and this was the root of if many of her problems and something that she needs to overcome.
Sebastian is a character that is all man and sexy and hot and only has to look at a female and they tend to fall at his feet, it seems that bot are interested in each other but are tied by their past believing they are not worthy of love or the care and compassion of another.
Read this book and I assure you that you will be captivated by it and will enjoy every moment of this read.
I do not want to spoil the plot so will say no more about the three of them, I assure you that you will enjoy every single moment of this book.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

Isabel is a young woman who has been sheltered from the cartel life by her family, rarely dated and was an object to her family, rather than a feeling woman...her father never thought any man good enough for his daughter and her older brother was abusive...after her parent's deaths, an attack on the family estate took place, alone except for guards, the cartel was after Isabel's brother Daniel for trying to overthrow cartel leader Stefano Duarte. Sebastian was part of the attack on the estate, and he believed her innocent of any knowledge of the inner workings of the cartel...but when she tried to save another from cartel clutches, she was punished by Stefano for her indiscretion, forced into a marriage to the much older Sebastian, who never wanted a wife...but could they learn to trust each other when both suffered past abuse??? You will need to read this intense story to find out what happens...I voluntarily read this book through an Advanced Reader Copy.

This book was great! I'm glad we finally got Isabel's story! She was sweet although perhaps a bit naïve considering the family she was raised in. Sebastian is hot as sin and he has demons of his own to live with. I enjoyed learning about both Isabel and Sebastian and how their pasts are effecting their lives today. Both of them seem to think themselves unworthy of love but they are a perfect match and bring out emotions in each other they never expected to feel. I love that we got to find out more about Isabel after hearing about what she did to try and save Marisol. I really liked the twist this book had it really kept me on my toes and the ending was very unexpected but enjoyable! I can't wait to read more about the characters in this series maybe next we'll learn about Rafael? Who knows! A great read that will keep you hooked from start to finish!

Wow this book was alot more than i was expecting! I loved it and so sad i read it too quickly
Sebastian is strong, tough, domineering, but underneath there is somewhat a sensitive side.
Isabel hasnt had the easiest of lives and has no way of knowing how to trust anyone especially men!

But when these two finally connect, its explosive!

Quickie review: This was my first book by Sykes and I definitely want to check out more of her books. Eternally His pulled me in because of it being an age gap, mafia romance. Plus Wander is on the cover. (Huge selling point for me!) But the romance was a bit of a slow. So if you are into slow burns, this one is definitely for you. I definitely loved the touch her d!e vibes he was passing around like confetti. All in all a really good read by a new to me author. 4 Stars.

Eternally His was a great first read by Julia Sykes. I will definitely be paying attention whenever she publishes a new book. I definitely want to read the previous books in this series. That said, I easily read this as a standalone.
As soon as I saw this cover, I had to know the story within the pages. I love older men, always have and always will. This combined some of my favorite tropes; age gap, captive, enemies to lovers, arranged marriage and cartel romance. Isabel is a cartel princess. After being physically abused by both her father and brother, she’s free of them but that leaves her without anyone. In trying to help someone, she betrays the cartel and you do not do that without expecting payback. Sebastian is twenty years her senior and never planned to marry anyone. He has been in the cartel almost his entire life. Both Isabel and Sebastian knew of each other and attraction was definitely there but neither one feels they deserve love. But of course, the head of the cartel determines her punishment for betrayal is to marry Sebastian.
Their chemistry was hot and intense. I kept waiting for the moment the tension would break and I loved when it finally did. These two were made for each other even if they might not have believed it. This was a relatively enjoyable read and I have a major crush on Sebastian. I recommend any dark romance lovers give this a try. This is my honest opinion, freely given.

okay so this book made me read the whole series - which has been the only good thing about it. book 1 apparently has been on my tbr for five years but i just saw the description for this one and had to read it so ofc i need to read in order so i started from the beginning. i’ve loved every other book and Carmen’s book was one of my favourite’s all year.

but man this book sucked. they were both so annoying and it was all so sappy. it was soooo disgusting that he saw someone else in here all the time to THE POINT THAT HE MADE HER WEAR A BLINDFOLD WHEN THEY FIRST FUCK SO THAT HE DOESNT HAVE TO LOOK IN HER EYES! barf. his issues were all throughout the book and one conversation made him get over it. also didn’t get his obsession/guilt with maria and sounds like he was 14 and she was an adult and she had all the power and was part of him being on that farm so it was so disgusting and i guess it fucked with his head because why tf was it made to seem like it was a big love he’d lost. i also HATED the amount of times he called the h young when he described her. my young wife, my young bride. ewww.

and omg bizarrely she was even more annoying. i felt bad she had been abused and it was understandable she was scared. but she was so clueless and pampered and just so annoying. all the other h in the series went through a lot with their respective guys and she went through basically nothing and she moaned and went on and on about how awful it all was. he said he’d stay away from her and move out etc. she kept going on about. idk. she just pissed me off

so i hated them both and i hope theyre happy together

Sebastian is an evil mafia Enforce, but he is also Isabel’s protector and eventually her husband. Will she remember the way they met, the way he sheltered and shielded her life? The way he honorably returned her to her ravished home? Or, will she only remember his stern punishment when she tries to flee from him?

To save another woman, Isabel makes a huge mistake and betrays the cartel. Sebastian is sent to retrieve her and bring her before their mafia leader to determine her punishment. In order to keep her totally under control, Isabel is forced to marry Sebastian. Part of her is angry and full of hate. While another part of her remembers his kindness. What part of her will win? Can she live forever with a hardened criminal? Will she ever find a way to earn back his trust?

This story is filled with two broken people trying to find a way to live their lives in harmony. It is sensual, erotic and emotional and I could not stop reading until the very end. I definitely recommend this book.

Great beginning!

I really enjoyed the book in the beginning. It had all the makings of a good cartel/mafia book. Then it kind of got cheesy. I truly didn’t even understand the blindfold thing and his trauma from Maria. I don’t know why it just didn’t make sense. I think I had trouble relating to that part because the author barely gave us any idea of their relationship. I got his caution on wanting to consummate their relationship. I think her betrayal should have been the whole focus of the book. I also have to say it made no sense how a prominent member of the cartel would let his wife go anywhere without a guard. I also believe an ambitious cop be on his bosses radar and he probably met an accident way before all that. I love mafia books, but I think this book was missing something for me.

This is one older man/younger woman mafia romance with such punch. Isabel is a cartel princess who was at the mercy of her family. She lived a sheltered life but things change…Sebastián is a force to be reckoned with as he works for the cartel and has no aversions to doing what must be done. When their paths cross and are subjected to their fate, will they be able to make a relationship work? There is some definite chemistry between the two characters and Ms. Sykes has done a good job bringing out the characters’ vulnerabilities as readers watch them try and form a meaningful connection. It started out a little slow but picked up steam as the chapters progressed. I would have liked more depth detailing Sebastián’s past relationships. When all is said and done, this is one book to add to your tbr list.

I loved Sebastian. He definitely had an attraction to Isabel, but with her betrayal, he certainly didn't want to act on it. He fought his feelings as much as he could. She was the enemy. Everyone would see her as a traitor.
Isabel saw herself as someone who tried to help another. She knew what they would all call her though. She's a betrayer of the mafia. That should be a death sentence in itself. What she got may be worse. She can't help her attraction to her new husband though. Can she beat her new reputation with his help or is she doomed to be alone and untrusted?
I always absolutely love Julia's writing. I always find myself devouring whatever book I have. They're so easy to get lost in and I find myself losing track of time. This one was no different. Thank you for another wonderful story!

Eternally His is a standalone dark mafia romance.

After Isabel betrays the Cartel and gets found out, she is made to marry the man that vouched for her innocence the last time her family betrayed them as punishment to them both.

Sebastian is 20 years her senior and never wanted to get married, least of all to Isabel. He is haunted by the demons of his past, and the fact that Isabel looks like someone he knew from that time makes him want to stay far away from her despite his growing desire for her.

I really enjoyed this book. It was well written and the plot progressed steadily.
I loved the chemistry between the characters, and although it's pretty slow burn, the tension and the push and pull between them had me hooked and turning the pages waiting for the moment they both finally gave in.

Isabel was born and raised in the cartel where she was shielded from the lifestyle however her life was definitely not one of a pampered princess. Her decision to help another has drawn the ire of those in power and the only way to save her life is marriage to Sebastian a high-ranking member of the cartel.

Stefano is a powerful man who keeps an emotional distance from others. The last thing he wants is the wife that was foisted on him however he is prepared to ensure she bends to his will but he wasn’t prepared for the escalating chemistry between them.

These two are perfect for each other as when it comes to Isabel, we see a different side of Stefano while he helps her become the women she was destined to be.

Good Books for an afternoon read !!

I have read the series and found them interesting. I read a lot of books that involve the cartel. In everyone of these cartel , romance books are all the same. A cartel guy meets an innocent girl ; sometimes cartel and something not. Either way the cartel guy claims the girl and from book 1 to the last book in the series, the guys ( in all of the books) have sex the same way, punish the woman the same way. While this should be some of the best parts of the books you know it's just going to be a rerun of sex from the first book. Come on people use your imagination.
I don't mean ton sound like I'm complaining because I`m not. I did enjoy reading the Captivity Series and would recommend to my friends.

not good but not too bad

The motives are left field. I really want Julia to get used to using periods. End then SENTENCE!!!! Of course the climax is shoehorned 92-93% in the book. Sigh… a lot the book was rambling and fails to get to the point for at least 6-8 pages regularly. It takes me about it 4 hours to get through her books. It’s quick but because there is zero substance. Not only that they’re in Mexico and not one Hispanic person is on the cover. The setting isn’t really described; the characters aren’t described at all. This one was meh. At least Carmen and Stephano were interested. Oh and last thing. If Sebastian didn’t love Maria how did he walk around with guilt for 30 years?!

Eternally His - 5 Stars!!

So I have to admit that when I first went to start Sebastian and Isabel’s story, I didn’t really care much for her but I didn’t dislike her either. I loved their story so much. Sebastian was so mysterious and almost broken which just made him all the more appealing. Isabel, at first, was a little irritating but also courageous if that makes sense, but she grew because of Sebastian and knew what she wanted, not afraid to fight for it. It’s bittersweet to have finished this series. I wanted it to last longer but I also wanted all their stories. A definite must read! I was knew to Ms. Sykes before these but she’s gained a fan for life.

Eternally His

Wow, amazing.. I absolutely loved reading along listening to Sebastian and Isabel’s story. Their story is so interesting, emotionally and filled with profound need to protect. I must say that I truly feel for Isabel . The men in her life before Sebastian has not treated her well and seems to want what her family can offer them. I am so glad that Sebastian broke that curse and dismantled her defenses. I really do love how Isabel took into consideration his pain in get Sebastian to open up to her. Most of all I love how fiercely protective they are for each other.

This was a great new book in the series. I just love that the authority keeps bringing out books with characters that werden have met before and had us intrigued while also giving us glimpses of characters who already had books. It just makes the stories intertwined while they can also bei read as standalones.
This story was an age gap story about Sebastian and Marisol and I loved their chemistry. Sebastian was a broody, protective guy and Marisol his innocent but also feisty counterpart. I can highly recommend it.

Eternally His is book 6 in the Captive series by Julia Sykes. Lathough this is part of a series it can be read as a standalone. Isabel is a Cartel princess who has loved a sheltered lofe. Now thst the rest of her fmily is dead, what will happen to her. As a result of teying to betray the cartel she is forced into a marriage with Sebastian who is 20 years older than her. Sebastian is a stone cold killer and has plenty of demons and getting married was never part of his life. Even though circumstances forced then together will they form a connection?

Isabels brother had betrayed Stefano the cartel boss and now she had gone against them too with a blog about Raul keeping Marisol, and now her fate lies in the hands of her once savior, now captive husband Sebastian, her little crush on him won't protect her now. Sebastian thrives on dominance and loyalty to the cartel and Isabel threatened that, he will do what ever it takes to get her submission, even at the price of his cruel past. Well written the story hooks you from the start with engaging characters and plot line, steamy desires, violence and more a great addition to the series
