I read all these books when they came out individually, so do not deprive from a good set of stories

Highlander’s Captive
🌟🌟🌟🌟

Will their past impede their future ...

This is my first read by Mrs Stone, and I quite liked my foray in time.
Craig is a honorable and straightforward man but since the battle which have seen his grandfather death and his sister’s abuse, he feels like he has failed them. And his guilt has eaten his trust in one another.
And Amy is one to test his faith in the others at every turn.
Amy wants only one thing, going back to her time, she does not belong there. Yet drawn to Craig, she still can’t let go and win his trust. And until she faces the demons of her past, she will never be able to accept someone else love.
Both have a lot of work to do before being able to accept the depth of their feelings and what they might entail.
Both are very flawed characters, I was upset at Amy for keeping the truth for much too long, each time testing Craig’s resilience to believe in her. But Craig’s inability to put the past behind even when he has everything in hands did not warm him in my heart too.
Why their journey toward one another is not a smooth path, up to them to decide what counts most.

Highlander’s Hope
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

When two damaged souls heal one another broken spirit, will it be enough to face time disruption...

This is my second read by Mrs Stone, and my second in this series, having meet Marjorie in the previous book and learned about her ordeal, I knew her story would not be an easy journey.
Marjorie survived and rebuilt herself in a stronger self, still she struggles with her fears, often caught unexpectedly by them and frozen. So when threats arrive at her doorstep, she knows she must put to use the many lessons she had to learn to defend herself but also her home.
Yet as an inexperienced warrior, she knows she must prove she is worth of her duty, but also she must find in herself the strength to stand for herself and face her fears if she wants any chance to heal from her inner wounds.

Konnor lived with guilt clinging to him like a second skin, he berates himself to have been unable to protect him mom from an abusive stepfather, but he was only 8.
Since he felts he has no right a happy ending, seing love as a dangerous lie and unable to open himself to the women crossing his path.
He will need to encounter a woman having face equal hardship to for once being able to share his burden.
But will letting his guilt flow from the gate of his heart be enough to mend his shattered soul.

Marjorie is such a strong character, she has her weaknesses, but her unconditional love for her son, a child she could have rejected, is what brought her back to the world of the livings.
Konnor let old beliefs lead him for too long, unable to see where he went wrong.

This second installment does not shy from difficult topics, rape and abuse leave their mark in someone’s psyche, indelible prints only time, patience and love can heal if the person finds in its inner core the will and strength to stand. It is journey a victim must make alone, but if assured to be loved, it eases the path.

A 5 stars read full of tension and love as it is a tale of 3 persons falling in love.

Highlander’s Heart
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Will they understand in time that damaged does not mean unworthy of love ...

What an amazing story the author delivers here, I cheered the heroes but also berated them, they are so flawed, so wrong about many things I was upset at them, even ranted at them, him for giving up on himself and them and she for not standing up for herself and letting him and others walking on her.
But I was not in their shoes, she bullied or belittled, he abused and beaten. It leaves scars, wounds that fester with time, and nothing can really heal them if the person is not a willing participant.
In spite of her circumstances Kate does well lost in a world she knows nothing, she adapts and survives. And find slowly her worth, but it is a long battle as it had been engrained in her spyche, that even a memory loss can’t erase the scars left by years of neglect.
Ian like a soldier suffers from PTSD and survivor guilt, quite understandable after the nightmare a decade long he lived through. At time, I was angry at his actions and reactions, believing him a coward, when he was only crumbling under self-reproach. Believing in the area he was living, he could stand without taking up again arms. And live will taught him quickly a lesson.

One more faultless tale, with broken but blood and flesh characters who will have to fight against themselves to get their HEA. Because Ian and Kate’s worst enemy is not the English army but themselves.

Highlander’s Love
🌟🌟🌟🌟⭐️

Will the scars on their soul impede their future happiness ...

I was curious about Owen as he was the one behind one of the most dramatic event in the first book. I did not know what to think about him, spoiled, lost, irresponsible or lacking luck....
And in fact he is a bit of everything.
The child in him wanted to attract his father’s attention, but his awkward ways mostly attracted his scorn and ire. Which led him to a path of errors after mistakes, while he is a good man in the inside, when he weights his decisions, so unsure about what to do, he most often decides for the wrong ones.
Why he is so determined to prove himself that for once he is the man his family can rely on.
But to do so, he can’t let anyone in, even Amber, as she is the embodiment of all his wrong choices. He is persuaded that if he get closer, he will once more mess everything up.
I was sorry for the petulant child he once had been, he only wanted love from the man he admired. But his exuberance led him to bad choices until he gave up, leaving behind a piece of himself.

Amber found herself in the wrong place at the wrong time. And scared, she chose to run away, fearing she would never able to prove her innocence.
Until she landed in the middle of a medieval battle, she thought she has made the right decision.
Yet for all his flaws and mistakes, Owen still tries to help, to show he is reliable. But the more time passes, the more people remember his past deeds, thus his difficulties to demonstrate he is in the right.
And while he pushes her away, he also stands by her side when she needs it.

They both will have to face their inner demons to bring the strength to fight for what they hold dear in their heart, to determine what ou whom makes their soul thrill.
It is a long way to go before being able to rest, up to them to do it alone or together.

I have read all the stories in this set, the following is my review for Highland Bride. My other two reviews can be found on Amazon, Goodreads and Bookbub under the book titles. Posting all three together would have been way to long.

Raghnall Mackenzie, is the youngest son of the Mackenzie's lads. His father the Laird kicked him out when he was just a boy and he has made his way doing whatever he could just to stay alive. He has lost much and feels dead in his soul for all the hurt he has caused. The only person he thought he could love and have a life with was killed by an enemy of his.
Now he is doing all he can for her son, Seoc. His brother the new Laird has ordered him to marry if he wants his own keep. Once again things do not work out for him, with all there to watch the wedding the bride doesn't show up.
Then like a miracle a very strange dressed beautiful woman walks straight to him. The way she talks and dresses remind him of others he has seen but most important is she agrees to marry him!!!
Bryanna Fitzpatrick is diabetic and has been since she was sixteen. She feels like her life ended then as her mother is always watching her to make sure she does not get hurt, or ill. She has vision she has told no one about. One is she with a tall very handsome man dressed from the past. She doesn't understand her dreams. While she and her family are visiting Eilean Donan Castle, she feels faint looks for a place to test her blood and take her insulin alone.
What she finds is a tunnel and she meet up with one of my favorite persons in all the books. Faerie Sineag.
After listening and talking with her she wants and adventure and does as Sineag tells her.
Her dream or vision she is in a beautiful place where everyone is happy and busy. She meets a very handsome man, who asks her to marry him! What a dream, he is tall, strong and makes her feel safe. Her dream is so real, and she is happy till she learns everything she is seeing and feeling is really happening!! She is really in 1310 Scotland.
Wow what an intriguing story, with so much going on. Both Bryanna and Raghnall have so many secrets.
What will Bryanna do in the past with very little insulin ? Will Raghnall's believe her think her a witch? There is so much emotion, feeling, love and sadness in this book. Also,, a lot of faith and learning and giving.
You really need to get a copy and see how much this couple will learn, and give for each other.
It is a great story. I couldn't put it down and read it straight thru.
I received and ARC and want to thank the author this is my honest opinion and am freely giving it.

I have read all four of these fantastic stories and having them in one box set, makes it easier for new readers to enjoy the series. I highly recommend this box set.

Highlander’s Captive - This author has a wonderful way of writing time travel novels that make you feel you are travelling alongside the characters. It amazes me how she comes up with the various ways to go back in time! This story has strong, independent characters, an unexpected traitor, secrets, fantastic descriptions of the Highland countryside and a rocky romance. Craig and his family have suffered trauma which no clan should but have come through stronger than before. Amy lost something a long time ago and needs to learn who she is again.

Highlander’s Hope - Great addition to this brilliant series. I liked that the time traveler this time was a man, this doesn’t happen too often from my reading so far. We met Marjorie in the first book and learnt a little of her situation, this story expands on that and gives us more of an idea of the traumas she encountered during her abduction. I love that this author has given Marjorie the skills needed to climb out of her depression and regain her self-confidence and self-esteem. Konnor has experienced his own brand of abuse and is empathetic when he learns the truth. Can these two damaged souls come together and help each other, or will time draw them apart? I loved the ending.

Highlander’s Heart - Ian is struggling to find his place again when he returns to the Highlands after escaping captivity. Kate’s journey through time left her with amnesia. Will these damaged characters find a way to be together? The action scenes in this story are well scripted and encourage you to keep reading to find out who will win. I felt such empathy for both Kate and Ian that I was sad when she returned to her own time. You will need to read this book to find out what happens at the end.

Highlander’s Love - What a great story! Fast-paced action abounds in this book with perilous escapes, fear, disbelief, redemption, retribution and a strong love which crosses centuries. Both Owen and Amber have known what it is like to have no-one believe in you. When it matters most, can these characters prove their worth? I loved that they were so supportive of the other but could have shaken Owen a couple of times. This is a beautiful story which grabbed me from the beginning and held on to me until the end.

Enjoyable but.....

Well written with interesting characters. As would be expected, the Highlander men are strong, opinionated, and products of the violent times that marked the wars of Scottish independence. What disturbs me is the lack of self confidence in the 21st century women. Each one has internal strengths and find their way in the 14th century. The insecurities drive me crazy, especially when they get in the way of their happiness. Beyond that, I wish these were better proofread. For example, the name of a prison torturer changed every few pages. How does this happen?

Called by a Highlander series -books 1-4

Amy at an ancient castle meets Sineag a faerie that sends her to a stone under the castle. Amy places her hand on the stone and goes to the past and falls in love with Craig. Later Sineag does it again to Konnor and he falls in love but his love and he end up in the future. Kate goes to the past and also falls in love. Last Amber goes to the past and falls in love. All because of the faerie setting up true love.

I really liked these books. The storylines are interesting and the characters are engaging. The books also give a glimpse at life in medieval Scotland during the tumultuous fight for Independence from England. The main theme is would you travel through time (usually modern time to medieval time) for love?

Romance galore

Good old romance with a portion of true history. Can it get better? There are fights, doubts, problems and solutions. Denials and affirmations, and, ever, a happy ending. It is to be read with a piece of chocolate and a glass of red wine. Enjoy!
