Welcome to Fort Lauderdale—where the days are hot and the Knights are hotter.
I’ve always said I would settle down when the time—and the woman—was right. So having a friends-with-benefits relationship fits right into my plans. Until it doesn’t. The line between friendship and wanting more with the gorgeous doctor is blurring with each passing day. The more I get to know her, the harder it gets to stay away. I need to show Chloe there’s more to us than just chemistry… but first I have to admit it to myself.
I thought I had my life all mapped out. College, medical school, and then a demanding career as a successful doctor. Now I’m having doubts about all of it, and the last thing I need is a professional athlete with abs for days to add to my distraction and derail my plans. Falling for a big shot hockey player like Jude would be a mistake. But everything is so good between us— there’s no way I can just walk away.
Kat Mizera makes me happy. I haven’t read every word she has ever published but I’d take a bet that they would all make me happy! Her stories are realistic, and her characters are relatable and easy to root for. The mechanics of a book are very important, but so is how the story makes the reader feel. If an author can make me fell joy and happiness while I’m in their world, that is auto #win for me.
Chloe & Jude made me happy. They made it easy for me root for them and I just wanted to jump into the book and become their friend. Their relationship grew organically, and it was a joy to read their development from sexual chemistry to so much more!
This is a story you will fell. Things don’t just get told to you, they’re felt, and that makes for the most exceptional romance journeys, in my opinion! Chloe and Jude both had their own busy lifestyles to navigate as they navigated their growing feelings and it made me super happy to read that their path didn’t just miraculously become #happysigh; they struggled but they persevered and I just love their story! Well done!
5 Star Review of Big Shot (Lauderdale Knights #2) by Kat Mizera Having read and loved the first book in Kat Mizera’s latest Lauderdale Knights series I was excited to see what she had in store for Jude and Chloe. This is hockey romance at it’s finest. From the first chapter to the last, I was hooked on the story that Ms. Mizera wove. Jude and Chloe have a friends with benefits relationship which works well, until it doesn’t. As Jude gets to know more about Chloe, he is drawn to the beautiful doctor. Could she be “the one”? The chemistry between them sizzles and is only increasing, could there be more to their relationship than just the physical? I fell hard and fast for Lauderdale Knights Jude, he is totally swoon worthy while I admire Chloe, who is strong and determined. I loved Jude, he is such a wonderful man and how he treated Chloe melted my heart. I loved the chemistry and friendship that developed between them and the banter between them was witty .
It was interesting to see Jude and Chloe go from casual to more. You could tell quickly both of them let themselves feel more than they initially agreed to. But they worked, even with both of them have a screwy schedule. They were able to share their issues until the end, when sharing things would have gone a long way of stopping the hurt between them. I liked that they worked things out and took that next step. Was it fast, yes, but it worked for them.
Kat Mizera has a game-winner with BIG SHOT (Lauderdale Knights #2). This is Dr. Chloe Haverty’s and Lauderdale Knights center Jude LeBlanc’s story. Chloe is the best friend of Juliet Cicero, and Jude is the teammate of Vaughn Elliott from book one, SLAP SHOT. Readers were introduced to both Chloe and Jude in that story.
Chloe is questioning the direction of her residency, and even if she still wants to be a doctor. She took time off to participate in MDs Across the Sea. Meanwhile, she ends up grabbing tacos with Jude LeBlanc in the hopes of a hook up. The two become friends discovering they have more in common then they would have thought. They get together when they can, but it is hectic with Chloe’s job and hockey playoffs. The two respect and support each other. They have wonderful chemistry and make a great couple.
BIG SHOT is a skillfully written and entertaining story. It is a great fit to the Lauderdale Knights series. I’m looking forward to Jace’s and Tawny’s story in book three, LONG SHOT I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
The story started out great but after a couple of chapters, it went downhill fast. I couldn't stand the the h. She was too undecided and self-absorbed. Why should the H make a grand gesture to win her back when she dumped him because of her selfishness? I wouldn't waste my time with a woman like her. Sorry I'm ranting here.
Who knew hockey in Ft. Lauderdale would be so hot! Book #2 in Kat Mizera’s Lauderdale Knights series is quickly becoming one of my favorite new series! After meeting both Jude and Chloe in book one I was eager to get their story. The Knights are a brand new expansion team and Jude is new to southern Florida after playing the bulk of his career in Alaska…talk about a change of scenery! Jude is not one of the young guys on the team, and I love the leadership role he took on after he was entrusted to take some young guys under his wing. Jude is really one of those heroes that warms your heart. He is kind, generous and seems to always know what to say. But deep down he is also a little insecure after a relationship ending. Chloe is busy wrapping up her education and residency to become a Doctor. I adored Chloe, who is best friends with the heroine in the previous book. Chloe is smart, feisty, and so caring. I love how on the outside the world thinks she has it all together but internally she is struggling. I really related to her, as sometimes the thing you think you want the most, in the end isn’t what you want at the time. She is such a hard worker and obviously super intelligent to have made it this far. Chloe is working in a program that sends her short term to locations around the world to improve people's health. She really thinks that she doesn’t have time for a relationship due to her job. She and Jude fall into a fun friendship with benefits that quickly morphs into pretty consistently spending all their free time with each other. Both Chloe and Jude are extremely successful in their careers that are very demanding. But Chloe holds back and Jude is fearful to push for more. As the pressure mounts for both of them I love how they each navigate the pressure and who they rely on. My heart really broke for both of them, and I really loved how they found their way to each other. This book was so realistic to real life, relationships are hard. Jobs and other commitments are difficult, but weathering a storm together makes you stronger as a couple. These two are really amazing and I loved their support system is equally amazing. The cameos and introduction to new teammates was perfect and I am eagerly anticipating book #3 in this awesome series!
Big Shot follows Chloe, the best friend of Julie (Slap Shot), and Jude, another hockey player from the Lauderdale Knights. She's in her residency but things took a turn she didn't foresee so she's decided to take a break to regroup (I didn't understand that part since getting into a residency program isn't the easiest thing to do & getting back in is more difficult). She comes across Jude when she's supposed to meet her best friend at a bar, but due to a very bad day, she doesn't want to do so. However, Jude spies her quickly & ends up hanging out with her that night instead of being at the bar, and they hook up knowing that neither wanted anything else, but the best laid plans amirite?! The push & pull between them is almost frustrating since Chloe really couldn't make a decision to save her life in my opinion not to mention while she's trying to decide how to go forward, she's doing MDs Across the Seas. However, Jude is open to exploring more despite the fact that he's playing in the playoffs. To see how this all plays out with all the complications, you'll have to hit those one click buttons because at the end of the day, it was a page turner that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Juliet’s best friend Chloe is in her residency but just hasn’t found the right niche for her to fit into so she is taking a little time to figure out what it is that she wants. Nothing better than having a best friend with direct ties to the Lauderdale Knights hockey team. This is how she meets Jude who is a hot star hockey player nothing looking for anything long term. What better match could this be when both are looking for the same thing. That is until things begin to change but just how will a busy doctor and a hockey player heading into the playoffs even have time for a long-term relationship?
I love hockey romances and this series is one I always look forward to reading more of.
This hockey romance was a nice change from the previous ones I've read in that it actually had people playing hockey in it. I enjoyed that the author took her time with building the relationship, and it was a nice change of pace that it was the FMC that was afraid of commitment. The golden retriever MMC was a joy to root for. I can't say it was a slow burn novel because the sex scenes were there pretty much from the start. But the build up from friends with benefits to a couple took a while. Not upset at that
Having read Slap Shot, i instantly started looking forward to more of this series! So as soon as i found out about this second book i knew i had to pick it up! I started reading it as soon as i could and got right back into the Lauderdale Knights world! I enjoyed this second installment!
Jude and Chloe's journey captured my attention! He's a hockey player and she's a doctor. These two aren't looking for anything serious and start hooking up. As feelings come into the picture, i couldn't wait to see how everything would play out for them!
I really liked the way both Chloe and Jude had me feeling many things throughout their story! I enjoyed getting to see them tackle things in their lives and figuring out what they want as well!
It was great being back in the Lauderdale Knights world!
With Big Shot, Ms.Mizera has created a good read that made me feel many things! I am so looking forward to diving back into this series with the third installment, Long Shot!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from Elle Woods PR / the author*
The next story from the new expansion team. I liked this story, I think, more than the first because this one felt deeper to me. I liked how Jude and Chloe didn't start out looking for a relationship or even something lasting, it just kind of developed naturally, like things usually do when you're not looking for them. Not only was there the relationship between the two MC's but the friendships between the ladies that keeps growing and expanding and that doesn't even touch the dynamic we see in the locker room, on the ice and beyond. I like where the series is going so far and can't wait to read the next one!
Who is Chloe? What does she do for a living? What is happening when she is distrubed just as she started to eat her lunch? Who is Edward? What tough conversation does Chloe have wit him? Why? Where is Jude when he gets a phone call from Cam after midnight? What does Cam tell him? Oh my gosh, that book was totally unexpected. I understood Chloe and her fears on a deep level myself. I fell in love with Jude. I wish I had my ownJude. The two of them had some serious chemistry and fireworks happening through the story. I thought my Kindle was going to burst into flames a few times. You need to read this story to see how it turned out. It was not all sunshine and roses and I did shed tears.
When Jude LeBlanc took Chloe Haverty home for the first time, it was with no expectations other than to make sure she made it there safely. Neither had time for a relationship or anything serious. Jude is at the top of his career in the NHL and Chloe is working her way through her medical residency, even if she is on a break and having second thoughts about her life choices. While they both decide that a little fun with no strings attached is what they need, the lines begin to blur for both of them very quickly.
I really enjoyed this couple. They fell into their relationship so organically. Already acquaintances because Chloe’s best friend is dating Jude’s teammate, it only made sense that they felt safe together. Finding they had so much in common was the unexpected piece that made them really work as they both struggled with how to come to grips with their own feelings as well as how to navigate a relationship under stress.
Their friendship and need to be there for one another is undeniable, but their communication skills are lacking . . .neither wanting to pressure the other into something they don't want and neither wanting to take the first move towards the important discussions they truly need to have to move forward, which, of course, leads to a bit of angst and plenty of relationship drama!
Sexy moments, in depth characters who feel like they have the weight of their world’s on their shoulders and a bit of relationship drama, Big Shot is a sweet addition to Kat Mizera’s Lauderdale Knights series. 4 stars
This book started off as a friends-with-benefit arrangement that slowly turned into something unexpected for both Jude and Chloe. Both had very demanding professional lives - Jude is a top NHL hockey player, and Chloe, who was working towards becoming a doctor and currently in a residency stage of her program. Some unexpected events kept bringing them closer together and then their arrangement developed into something more. As the reader, it was great to be part of their and I absolutely loved Jude as the central male character in this novel. He is quite possibly one of my favourites right now from the various series from this author. I also liked Chloe as I admired her independence, her determination and go get-them attitude, however, I did find her a little indecisive at times. It was understandable that since she had spent most of her life with everything mapped out and now life was giving her the possibility of something new and something that her hadn’t expected.
Their chemistry together was undeniable, their feelings were real, honest and emotional and I found their storyline very engaging and relatable. And of course their sizzle factor was practically off the charts. This is such a great read and another great addition to this series. If you are a fan of sports romance particularly hockey sports romances this is definitely a must read and this author is definitely one of the best authors in this genre. You will not be disappointed!
This is book 2 in the series but easily stands alone. It stars Jude from the Lauderdale Knights Hockey Team, a new Florida Hockey team in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Chloe who we met in the previous book as she is best friends with the heroine from Slapshot. Chloe is a doctor who is supposed to be doing her residency but who is having a crisis of career choice and so instead is flying off to different countries handing out vaccinations, meds and doctoring. She goes on missions for weeks or months and then comes back to Florida until her next trip.
In this story her and Jude enter into a very casual relationship which includes nights of casual sex when she is in town which ends up leading to more and she has some big decisions she needs to make about her future. Jude ends up falling for her and has to convince her to give him and his heart a real shot with her.
I really enjoyed this story. Its really about growing up and deciding what you want your future to be and sometimes its hard but worthwhile.
I loved how into her Jude was and that he was willing to do the hard work if in the end he could end up with a future with Chloe. Chloe had some really big choices ahead of her. I felt at times she ran away a lot from her future and Jude and even her career. She was at a crossroads and had to decide what she really wanted out of her life.
I received a complimentary early release copy of this e-book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Jude is a star hockey player with the Lauderdale Knights. Chloe is a doctor who needs to finish her residency but is struggling with her choices and has taken a year off to figure out what she wants to do with her career. Jude and Chloe lead very busy lives and aren't looking for anything serious, so they agree a no string fling. As they spend time together and get to know each other, both realize they feelings have grown for each other. Jude wants more with Chloe and wants to prove to her they can have more if they are willing to support each other and love each other. Chloe has doubts and feels she needs to break things off with Jude before he dumps her when he realizes her residency will be too much for him to deal with. Can Jude convince Chloe that their relationship can survive the next 2 years of her residency? Will Chloe realize the mistake she made by walking away from Jude? Can Chloe convince Jude to take her back? Will Jude be happy to see Chloe before the biggest game of his Knights career? I loved Big Shot by Kat Mizera! Jude and Chloe has amazing chemistry that sparks to life whenever they are around each other. It was great to see the other teammates and their wives and girlfriends. Big Shot has laughs, friends, family, scorching hot chemisty, and tears. I would highly recommend getting Big Shot and the other book in the Lauderdale Knights series by Kat Mizera. I received an ARC copy of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
“Big Shot” is another steamy and heartfelt addition to the “Lauderdale Knights” series and I am loving each additional couple that Kat Mizera introduces.
Chloe is Juliet’s best friend, who we met in the first book, and she’s working on her residency to be a doctor. After a particular bad night, she needs a change of pace and signs up to be a doctor who travels to third world countries to help provide medical care. But before she leaves, she ends up having a one night stand with Jude LeBlanc. When she gets back, the two agree to keep it casual but the chemistry they have can’t be denied.
Jude and Chloe’s chemistry was so delicious and I devoured this book in just a couple hours. Their spicy teams were so good and some of my favorites that I’ve read by Kat. Jude is a caring and genuine guy with Chloe and his teammates. He truly cares and does his best to help her and his friends when they are in need. He’s a shining Knight in ice skates for sure. Chloe has so much empathy and even if she might have felt like she couldn’t be a doctor but that will make her the best doctor. While their relationship might have started out casual, it was clear from the beginning that they could be something more and I loved that they got their HEA. We get lots of scenes with the other Knights and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
This was a decent book with decent characters. It didn't stand out like I felt Slap Shot (the first book in this series) did. But I still enjoyed it. Jude and Chloe are two people looking at having a good smexy time with each other. It's supposed to be s*x and only that. However as the days and weeks progress feelings start to develop and stress levels get higher. The Knights make it to the playoffs and Chloe has to decide what she wants to do with her career. Jude's all in but Chloe has a hard time processing how everything will work out. In her defense she had a slightly hard time deciding where she wanted to go medically. Big decisions seem to be difficult for her.
I liked these two but I wasn't in love with them. They both seemed so so. They had chemistry but it wasn't the soul crushing, can't live without you chemistry that I love. The first half dragged for me with Taco Bell stops and tons of smexy times. I preferred the second half but that's just me. I also thought Palmer's issues were a little annoying and over the top. Looking forward to seeing what newby Jace will give us next.
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review*
This is book two in the series and tells the story of Chloe (Juliet from book one's best friend) and Jude LeBlanc, the tattooed, smoking hot, center for the Lauderdale Knights. After nine years of training, Chloe Haverty isn't sure what kind of doctor she wants to be or even if she wants to be one. After a particularly rough shift, Chloe goes to meet Juliet at a bar but realizes she can't face all those people. As she is about to leave, Jude spots Chloe and follows her out. After grabbing takeaway, Jude and Chloe are just getting cosy in her apartment, when they are interrupted and then Chloe is leaving on a mission for MDs across the seas, a charity that helps out in countries that need them.
What starts of as a purely physical need, soon morphs into more, although neither want to admit that. This is especially true for Chloe who realizes that her crazy residency schedule at the hospital and Jude's playing schedule mean that it would be very hard for them to have a relationship. Sometimes though, the heart does not want to be overruled!
Fast paced and well written, this is a great addition to this series and I'm definitely looking forward to Jace's story next.
I love it when a man realizes what he has and does everything he can to prove to the woman that they are worth fighting for, but I also like when that same man realizes that he has done what he can and the ball is in her court and that is what Jude did. Jude was everything a woman could want and I really felt bad for him. Even though they started out as nothing serious, their relationship changed and he wanted to be with her. Their sexy times were hot and showed how much trust there was between the two of them. I also enjoyed the first “meeting”. Chloe was smart, gorgeous and funny. But she was also annoying in that she, in my opinion, self sabotaged. They were great together, had a lot in common, and were there for each other when needed. Unfortunately, her career was the excuse she gave when things started getting serious. I don’t know if I could be as forgiving as Jude was. Even the interactions of the teammates and wives were great. I loved this book and can’t wait for more in this series. I received an ARC and am leaving my honest, voluntary review.
I just finished reading this ebook and I love it. It was captivating, angst, beautiful and emotional. The heroine is Chloe. She is intelligent, brave, gorgeous and sweet. She is doing her residency to become a doctor when she decides to take a break to focus on herself. Chloe found a friends with benefits arrangement with the hottest hockey player. She has a lot her her plate especially doing something for the greater good and helping out. The hero is Jude. He is handsome, successful, smart and rich. He is down to earth guy and fun. He is a hockey player that is amazing at what he do. Jude is like a big brother to some of the guys on his team and is there for them too which me me swoon. I really like Chloe and Jude chemistry and the way they progress without even realizing it. The only did that irked me was the communication between the two and I'm happy it worked out. The writing was done amazing and easy to follow along. I have not read any other books from Kat and I see I've been missing out. I'm loving this series so far. Amazing work Kat Mizera!
Jude is now part of the Ft. Lauderdale Knights hockey franchise. It's their inaugural year and he has no time for relationships. Hockey is his life.
Chloe has reached a precipice in her career. She needs to complete her residency to officially become a doctor but she can't seem to find her place. She decides to take a year off and get her head and heart in the game once again. Spending that year working for MD's Across the Seas and temp work at various health organizations such as nursing homes.
Chloe's bestie has fallen for hockey hottie Vaughn of the Knights, friends and teammate of Jude. Through this association, Chloe and Jude strike a friendship, an agreement of sorts - just sex/no strings. As the days and weeks pass, feelings develop and that could spell disaster or better - LOVE!.
My heart is warmed by this one. It so cute to see them fight the emotion, fight the pull, fight the love - that dirty four letter word.

Chloe and Jude—she took a break in her residency to figure out what she wanted to do; he’s a pro hockey player for the local expansion team. They know each other casually because her best friend lives with one of his teammates. So when she shows up when the team is gathered after a game and she walks out, he follows her and offers her a ride home. It starts out as sex between friends but quickly escalates as they realize how much they enjoy being together. Then she decides he can’t handle her residency and breaks up with him—right before his team’s biggest playoff series. After they’ve each had time to think about how much they truly love each other, she shows up at his last hockey game of the season (where they lose to his former team) and they clear the air between them and decide to move forward. And then they decide to get married, which they do so they can go on their honeymoon before she starts back on her residency schedule.

Chloe is in her 2nd year of residency and isn't really sure what she wants to do.. General medicine seems the way but she got bored so tried emergency medicine and that was working for her either. She decides to drop out of residency and take a year to figure things out.
Jude isn't looking for anything but Chloe is beautiful and he wants to get to know her more, I mean after all his teammate is dating her best friend. When a few casual hooksup start to turn into more Jude wants to give it a go
It's playoff hockey and Jude is stressed the one person he needs more than ever is Chloe but with her getting ready to start her residency back up she knows they will now have any time to be together for a few years. Jude wants to work things out but Chloe is super hesitant. Will she see they can work or will the pressures of their careers tear them apart?
Big Shot is a fantastic addition to the Lauderdale Knights series and has everything that I love in a hockey romance from really enjoyable characters to a storyline with just enough hockey action but more importantly, romance to keep the pages turning. Chloe and Jude have jobs that present the challenge of time together especially if Chloe continues on with her medical internship. They have been able to make it work since Chloe’s schedule is lighter at the moment. They have a strong connection and passion that has only grown over the last few months during the hockey playoffs, but will that be enough? Their lives are complicated and busy but like in any relationship it takes work, commitment and risk and I was so happy when they decided to attempt to put it all on the line to make their relationship work.
Dr. Chloe Haverty knew that something had to give after working in the emergency room and she didn’t want it to be her. So, she took a break from her residency by working with MDs Across the Sea while she decided what she wanted to do. But having a friends-with-benefits with hockey star Jude LeBlanc wasn’t helping her make a decision. Jude LeBlanc wasn’t thinking of settling down, but he wasn’t expecting on meeting Chloe and wanting something more with her.
I loved how Kat Mizera has written a new series about the Lauderdale Knights and made the feel of the team totally unique and different even though some of the characters have been in different series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author and Elle Woods PR. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Big Shot is an amazing read. I loved this one so much. If you haven't read the Lauderdale Knights series yet, then you really need to now. I could not get enough of this one. Chloe and Jude are so sweet together. This is a hot read. The chemistry build between Chloe and Jude is fantastic. I love how Jude supports Chloe so hard even as she is having such a hard time deciding her life as a doctor. Chloe may have her walls up for a reason but you still feel how much she cares for Jude. Jude knows that relationships are hard being an athlete. He gives Chloe everything even when facing that they are both in demanding careers. Jude will own you heart with everything that is thrown at him. I loved watching the relationship build between Jude and Chloe. You need to meet them and fall in love with them now. I cannot wait for more to come from the Lauderdale Knights series.
Chloe is facing a crossroads in her career as after spending years to train as a doctor she was finding her residency challenging and has her questioning what direction she wants her future to take. When she meets Jude the sparks fly but between her current job which requires a lot of travel and her uncertainty about her career she isn’t looking for relationship but a little fun.
Jude is a professional hockey player who has recently joined the Lauderdale Knights. He too has a challenging career and wasn’t looking for a relationship however he soon realizes that he wants more than fun with Chloe and now he just needs to convince her.
Jude is patient and understanding as Chloe tries to adjust to the evolving relationship between them and so supportive as she decides what and who will truly make her happy.
I have enjoyed all of this author's books and this one is no exception! I absolutely love Jude and feel that he stole the story, he was a perfect combination of bad boy that deep down is a big softie. The love scenes are hot, hot, hot! Chloe you like her, but sometimes you want to slap her. She has insecurities and is indecisive about relationships. The relationship just came together and was perfect when they just let it flow and not think about it. There is angst, drama, love, friendship, and all things needed for a great read! I love seeing the group from past stories make a play in her new ones, but I still feel they all can be read as stand alones. Can't wait for the next!
