I received agifted advance reader copy of this book to read as part of the book tour hosted by Kaleidoscopic book tours.

There is no big bad wolf in this story is a fun twist on the three little pigs and the big bad wolf stories.
I found this book to be beautifully illustrated and fun and lived the twist of the wolf going on strike for being over worked! This book was a breath of fresh air and myself and my daughter loved the story and spotting what famous fictional fairytale characters we could see as we read it.
What a great idea for a book! I can't wait to read the next one in the series!

THERE IS NO BIG BAD WOLF IN THIS STORY by Lou Carter & Deborah Allwright

Poor Wolf is exhausted from being needed as The Big Bad Wolf in everyone’s fairytales. And with no gratitude too! Wolf decides to go on strike and take a well needed break. Soon the other characters realised just how badly they needed Wolf. They tried Dragon, but he was a total disaster! The fairytale characters finally stop taking Wolf for granted and beg him to come back, promising to help him out more in future.

This hilarious twist on The Big Bad Wolf and some classic fairytales is a beautifully illustrated book that also teaches the importance of not taking anyone for granted, and that everyone, even the baddie, has feelings.

What a refreshing take on the classic tales of three little pigs and red riding hood. It was so fun to read and makes you appreciate the Wolf and all the hard work he does that no one else can.

¡Hola lectores, de todas las edades!

¿Les gustan los cuentos de lobos? A quien no, sobre todo los clásicos.

“EN ESTE CUENTO NO HAY NINGÚN LOBO FEROZ”
Lou Carter y Deborah Allwright
Editorial Picarona

SHE’LL BE COMING ROUND THE MOUNTAIN.

There is no big bad wolf in this story shows almost a behind the scenes approach to classic fairytales. It tells the story of how the big bad wolf is always late to each story because he’s in too many! The rest of the characters do not like this and try to do their stories without him. I like how this book allows the reader to explore the purpose of characters within a story. I think that exploring the villain character is a very interesting idea as children can work out their purpose within the story. I think this book can work well for all primary school year groups especially for rewriting stories within literacy.

A hilarious take on the life of the Big Bad Wolf of fairytale fame. Tired of trying to be in two places at once he quits! It is then that everyone realises how much they need him and how hard he works, not even Dragon can replace him. They need him back, after pleading with him Wolf comes back and no-one takes him for granted anymore, they help him out instead.

I loved this story, the attitude from the wolf, the drama and the peril of not knowing how to fix the situation are great. Seeing well known characters from traditional fairytales and putting a new spin on things is really entertaining and funny to read. The illustrations really add to the comedy within the story, the text and images work seamlessly together, intertwined throughout. I read the book to my 3 year old son who asked for it again, and again! He was also a fan of There is No Dragon In This Story so I’m not surprised he enjoyed this one too. My husband overheard us and is going to get a copy to read with his year 1 class in September as he thinks it is great as well! We are big fans in our family, would highly recommend for all little ones!

A droll look at the world of fairy-tales and what might happen if the wolf goes on strike. We're shown that there is just nobody else good enough to huff and puff down the houses of the three little pigs, and Little Red Riding Hood might just as well stay at home. It's reasonable enough, but I think I expected a little bit more from it. Three and a half stars.

Auteur : Lou Carter
Illustrateur : Deborah Allwright
Maison d’édition : Scholastic
Genre littéraire : Album jeunesse
Note : 3/5

There is no Big Bad Wolf in this story is a fun new children’s picture book from Lou Carter and Deborah Allwright.

This fractured fairytale sees the Big Bad Wolf tired of being the baddie in fairytale land. He needs to be in two different stories at the same time, and this means he’s always rushing and late. Everyone is cross with him so he tells them he’s had enough and leaves them to do their own Big, Bad Wolfing -which doesn’t go very well.

As it turns out Big Bad Wolfing is harder than it looks, and the Three Little Pigs and Grandma realise they really do need a Big Bad Wolf in the story. But will he want to end his break and help them out?

There is no Big Bad Wolf in this story features your favourite fairytale characters as you’ve never seen them before. It’s a clever twist on the traditional fairytales and your children will delight in seeing the Three Little Pigs, Grandma and Red Riding Hood huffing and puffing as best they can and then watching them work together to make sure that the Big Bad Wolf is never late again. There are also gentle messages about not taking others for granted and about teamwork, making this a great addition to your story time.

The Big Bad Wolf is late AGAIN and is ruining stories as he rushes through the forest to Grandma's house. The pigs and grandma (and a few other fairytale characters slipped into the illustrations) are getting fed up waiting for the wolf to arrive and do his stuff. Poor wolf is exhausted trying to meet all his commitments.

This is a cleverly constructed book - with a mix of conversation from the different characters and descriptive prose of the wolf's endeavours to do what must be done. The illustrations are bright and expressive and the illustrated and expressive text is carefully place with the illustrations to influence the way the book is read. A mix of full page spreads and panels change the pace of the story and shift the emphasis onto different characters. Unfortunately the pathway wolf takes through forest is lost in the gutters of a double page spread - a misstep that should have been avoided. Otherwise this is great fun and although. young readers will enjoy it, older readers will appreciate the depth of the humour more fully.

I really liked this book. It is a funny twist on the big bad wolf, except in this story, he is the hero!
It is set out like a sneak peak behind the scenes of the three little pigs story and little red riding hood, as both groups of characters get fed up with the wolf being late to each of their stories all the time. They eventually have to think of a way to help the wolf so that he can be in both stories, giving the story a teamwork element.

I am a huge lover of adapted (fractured) fairy tales so this tale of what happens when the Big Bad Wolf of fairy tale fame goes on strike was right up my alley. Lots of fun as the three little pigs, Little Red Riding Hood and others try to tell the stories without him. Will they convince him that he is actually appreciated and get him to come back? Loved the illustrations and the interaction between the characters.

Fun modern fairytale about the Big Bad Wolf , who is very harassed because being expected to be in two stories at once is stressful- so he goes on strike! Bright, funny & with a caring, sharing message this book would be great to use as part of a primary fairytale scheme of work or to read aloud to little ones

I don't get it but that is probably because I'm 34. My daughter enjoys it but I find it irritating. My daughter may pick it out because she enjoys following the path illustration with her finger? The story isn't there in my opinion. Was recommended this by the owner of the bookshop, won't trust her opinion again.

Home tutoring has given me a great excuse to seek out some more recent gems of children’s literature to persuade my reluctant readers that reading is truly fun. This one certainly had me chuckling all the way through and what brilliant illustrations too!
