Earth. I both love and despise the place. I haven’t seen the sun since my downfall over two thousand years ago. But there’s no time to enjoy earthly delights. The world’s first murderer is torturing angels – my brothers – and has started the Apocalypse. I wish that was my only problem, but you know what they say about the devil’s work never being done.
I’m hunted by my nemesis, a demon born from the fires of Perdition.
Angels and demons fighting on top of abbeys, how cliché!
I am shored by my renegade crew: a mortal witch, a millennial mage, and an influencer.
Plus, my loyal dog, a good boy called Cerberus.
And vampires. Bloody, stinking vampires!
Battling the dead along with the living, I find myself cursed,
There is a television series called Lucifer, that my daughter has me watch with her, as a mother/daughter bonding show. I love the show and I love what Lucifer represents in the show. Although he’s known as the Devil, he takes care of people who do bad things. He’s their punishment and they get what they deserve.
When I seen this title as Lucifer, I was immediately drawn to it. I really enjoyed the book. It had the same kind of characters that the television show has. Because of that, I could follow the book with understanding of who the characters were and what they represented. I don’t follow the Bible and characters, so this was fresh for me.
As I read this story, I felt sorry for Lucifer. He had an opinion of his own and he was cast out?! That’s just horrible! In this story, Lucifer fights demons and escapes hell to save and rescue his two brothers, Michael & Gabriel. He also hopes by doing so, he will be redeemed and allowed into heaven again. As he lands on earth, he finds a puppy wandering around. The puppy goes to Lucifer and he decides to keep him as a gift from his father. After all, it’s his father’s favorite animal, that why he names the animal after his self. (God-dog)When Lucifer puts the puppy inside his jacket, an overwhelming feeling of love takes over and feels strange. It’s been so many many centuries since he felt that feeling, it’s strange, yet very calming.
Anyway, in trying to locate his brothers, he runs into Cain. (Remember the story of Cain who killed his brother Abel? Yup, it’s him). It turns out, it is Cain who has kidnapped Michael and Gabriel. As Lucifer gets angry and goes after Cain, Cain takes Lucifer’s powers away and now has them. Lucifer in turn gets marked on his arm. This is the symbol that Cain had on his arm for killing his brother Abel. This symbol weakens Lucifer.
Cain leaves and as Lucifer is walking through tunnels, he finds two individuals tied up, bloody and barely conscious. Lucifer unties them, gets them some water and they come around. The woman is a witch and the man is a mage. When they realize who Lucifer is, they also realize he really isn’t evil at all. What evil person rescues people and has a dog he loves??
Without going into a whole lot of detail, Lucifer becomes friends with the witch and two mages. A stronger mage who is a mentor to the rescued mage. Plus, an angel ends up on Lucifer’s side, fighting battles with him. The story of how this angel comes into Lucifer’s life is an interesting one.
There are many, many battles Lucifer and his new friends end up fighting. That’s why I gave 4 stars. I was so tired of the battles. However; Lucifer takes care of business and suddenly something happens - I don’t want to give any spoilers. What happens, now has them all in danger. The only place to stay safe is in hell.
Then the book ends! WTH?!?! No pun intended. I had no idea this was a series of 6 books. I do not care for series but now I’m stuck if I want to find out how this all plays out.
So onto book 2 and I’m sure what will be plenty more battles. I still love the story so far.
I can honestly say that this book was not what id expected. I was pleasantly surprised by it though. Lucifer in this book is refreshingly different to how hes portrayed in other books ive read with him in them. He was neither highly sexual or particularly brutal i can only describe him as out of his element (by being in hell (quite literally!!) for a long time). He doesnt recognize this new world or himself in it. Thats one of the things that endeared him to me. Especially when he had to explain himself to these new characters. Which was actually funny in parts. I mean the devil has a dog (not a hellhound) and that in itself is sweet and funny. I liked the dynamic between Lucifer and the other characters in this book. That made the book for me. Its a great start to this series and an enjoyable read too
This is a fresh look at the story of Lucifer, the fallen angel. It introduces a rich lore with many questions raised about the hierarchy of both Heaven and Hell. Lucifer is on Earth to try to rescue his brothers - archangels, and finds his beliefs and preconceptions challenged at every turn. I was pulled in from the first page and enjoyed all the twists and turns immensely. I received an advance copy of this book and voluntarily left a review.
When we first meet Lucifer he is in the bowels of Hell going through some never ending tortures. He narrowly manages to escape after being released from his cage-ending up in England of all places. And finding an abandoned puppy he decides to take with him. That’s all I’m going to let on. You need to read this…it’s very, very interesting. All kinds of epic battles, many different types of life forms are introduced to Lucifer.. I look forward to the next in the series.
Lucifer has spent two thousand years in Hell being tortured for his rebellion against God. He finally escapes, when he claws his way out of Hell the first thing he hears is a puppy whimpering, someone abandoned it. This book was really good, lots of supernatural elements and plenty of mayhem and chaos. Well worth five stars.
I love this book! Love Lucifer, definitely! Such a refreshing new take on Angels and demons I couldn't put it down. You will find yourself rooting for the devil. So much packed into this book I can't wait to start the next. I'm definitely a follower of JN Moon now.
This book was exciting and scary and sometimes hopeful. I really enjoyed reading it. I would recommend it but some would think it sacreligious. It us just a book though so don't judge.
