The Creed of Buddha

Rate this book
Large Format for easy reading. A sympathetic study of Buddha and his teachings, the book highlights the importance of Eastern philosophical religion and made Holmes one of the few Western scholars to fully appreciate and explore the deeper meanings of Buddha's wonderful scheme of life.

An interesting polytheistic analysis on the nature of Soul as preached by Buddhism in comparison to Western Religions like Christianity. A lot of nuanced discussions although what the author understood seems to be on flawed basis with some questionable takes on the concept of Ego itself within the framework of Buddhism. Didn’t expect much from a book that’s like 100 years old and it proved me within expectations.

At certain points it was hard to follow. I expected more information about buddhas teachings. The middle chapters were insightful about the process of the soul.
