May You Receive the Attention of Those in High Places
Daniel has drawn the attention of the one group he desperately wanted to avoid. The Royal Family has summoned him to Warmount, the capital of Brad. There, he'll have to try avoid noble politics, royal entanglements and keep up with his Adventuring.
Of course, that'd be simpler if the Labyrinth was easier to delve through or if Warmount wasn't a Master Class dungeon.
A Capital's Perils is book 8 of the Adventurers on Brad, a LitRPG young adult fantasy series. Written by the bestselling author of the System Apocalypse and A Thousand Li, it draws inspiration from Japanese light novels like Dan Machi, Grimgar and Konosuba.
Tao Wong is the author of the A Thousand Li progression fantasy series and the System Apocalypse LitRPG series, among others. His work has been released in audio, paperback, hardcover, and ebook formats, and translated into German, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, and several other languages. He was shortlisted for the UK Kindle Storyteller Award in 2021 for A Thousand Li: The Second Sect. In 2026, the first three books in the A Thousand Li series will be republished in hardcover by Ace Books.
When he’s not writing or working, he enjoys practicing martial arts, reading, and dreaming up new worlds. He lives in Toronto, Canada.
Looking at book 8 of the series I have to think that the author will eventually come back to the series after book 9. Mainly that it's because as the adventurers we've been following Daniel and his group are not even halfway through what you would consider their leveling journey. At the same time what we're presented with is a jump forward in time where we're giving a brief glimpse of the life of Daniel and his friends. It remains appropriate for young adults and above. It does someone like a short story than a full-blown story in and of itself. In fact as a series goes it feels as if these last few books are simply part of a larger book.
I look forward to the final book in this Arc of the series. I do hope in the future that the books are longer and contain more in-depth awesomeness. I do prefer stories outside of the RPG genre as they tend to be more sound and solid. Still the characters are interesting and the drama does engage The reader. This was a fast easy read within a few hours it was over.
I do feel that these last two books have rushed through quite a bit when it comes to what our heroes have learned and the abilities they apply it with. There's almost like a quick update as to where they are. Still for what it is the story gets top marks.
Enjoyed this book. It was interesting and a nice continuation of the series. Read this book if you enjoyed the rest of the series. Was over way to quick thought
