This text provides a complete history of the RAF, written by one its most distinguished officers. The study charts its development, expansion and challenges from fledgling days in 1918 to its present day status. The text explores interwar threats and experiments in airpower, and its massive expansion and action in World War II. The people involved and effect of changing technology on its role in war and peace are emphasized.
An authoritative history up to 1993, which I guess kinda makes it out of date now, 20 years on. However, up to the time of writing, tells it like it is, easy to read, and even mentions my old unit, the RAF Regiment, so it can't be bad!
