Hitomi, Yuu, and Kaoru are getting a lot closer and Hitomi is now more, say, self-conscious than shy. At least with them (and maybe her brother, who is positively gregarious with strangers). But with so many unknown people around she’s not out of the woods just yet and that especially includes a delinquent girl who has her sights set on Hitomi (sort of).

What in the heck happened between the first volume and this one? This series was stale as week old bread when it came out (even that whole ‘the girl is the one who looks scary’ thing ended up being done to death after all, as I am reading two other similar manga) and literally just non-stop boob jokes with nothing much to offer.

Imagine my surprise when the first chapter is an adorable morning dash as our leads struggle to make it to the school on time and encounter several clichés that attempt to thwart them. The ending of this one is full on slapstick combined with a hilariously melodramatic yell from Yuu (his perspective here is hilarious) and one very confused teacher. It’s so good.

And that uptick in quality continues. Two things vastly improved this volume - one is the mangaka’s ability to end each chapter with a little zinger that makes things just that extra bit better. The ending of one story where Hitomi is branded a kidnapper made me laugh for no good reason.

The other thing is that the bashfully blossoming relationship between Hitomi and Yuu is absolutely adorable. A good book can find the joy in even the simple things and the running chapter is a stellar example of this - it’s funny and very sweet.

They also cut back on the boob mashing while keeping some service, if that’s what you’re here for. Honestly, the one boob smushing event in this volume actually got a laugh out of me because the set-up and payoff were so well done. That’s some good writing (also the shark drawing is wonderfully realized).

The new character, a short-haired delinquent girl who Hitomi rattles (and vice-versa) is really fun and these stories once more turn the stagnant ‘scary look’ into something very amusing through the use of perspective and the characters. The baseball story is particularly good and the situation complicating itself is to be expected, but not unwelcome.

Yeah, this is just a solid, enjoyable book throughout. If the first volume was how to do a bawdy comedy wrong, this volume is almost bang on how you can do it right and still be sweet while having a good time. The rain storm this time around is the perfect example of everything in balance.

3.5 stars and, yes, talk about a change. I love when books go from ‘eh, I suppose I will try volume 2’ right to ‘boy, I can’t wait for another volume of this to come out’. I read this first because I figured I would just get it out of the way, but I bet it turns out to be one of the best things in this week’s releases.

I'm able to get past the fan service this time and enjoy the humor and sweetness hidden behind all the boob jokes. (Hitomi's Left Breast and Hitomi's Right Breast deserve their own listings on the Character Profiles page at this point.) It really helps that another scowly-faced girl is introduced to be a potential rival and/or friend of Hitomi.

I found myself chuckling frequently and I really loved the misunderstanding with the baseball bat.

It felt like it took me no time to read thos volume, it was just such an easy fun read.

Hitomi-chan just gets cuter with each chapter and when her brother gets introduced there is another side to her which made me like her even more. That Last panel was Intresting to say the least, not that it wasn't obvious before that though.

If you're a fan of Komi Can't Communicate and Uzaki Chan Wants to Hang Out, you will love this book. As where some books are "Will they? Won't they?" this book champions "Will they? Yes, but when." Readers who enjoy slice of life manga with some spice added to the mix should be sure to read this.

While this is a fairly tame and sweet high school story, the constant boob jokes just keep me from connecting with the characters. I won't be picking up another volume.

While the tits were more prominently displayed and generously shown than the last volume, this was a solid second volume. The main leads have good chemistry and I enjoy seeing their friendship/relationship grow. I'm not too interested in the new girl who was introduced, but I did like how the main leads reacted to her antics. The artwork/art style was fun and flexible and the paneling was good too. Overall, this was a fun second volume and I look forward to reading more of the series.
