We are back with the action in this installment of the new Belial series by RD Brady. The last two books were full of rumination from Laney McPhearson, but this time we get to see her back in her fighting form, and not a moment too soon.
I’ve got a bit of synchronicity happening because in three of the book series that I’m working on right now, the ark of the covenant has become an integral part. Because this series follows the fallen angels and their role in present day life, the historical Jesus and the role of historical Judaism and Christianity is central to the plot. This is a no way Christian fiction. It is science-fiction at its best, combining the technology of today with technology of the ancients and a nuanced (though so might claim conspiratorial) understanding of ancient ways.
As an exvangelical, currently deconstructing my own Christianity, I am absolutely riveted by the historical and archaeological milieu of the series. I’m a sucker for a great Mary Magdalene story and this series has brought that in, which is the only spoiler I’m going to give you.
This whole series is a great combo of sci-fi and fantasy, and one of the rare instances when I’ll use those two words together.
Brady never lets you down. She has constantly developed her characters from book to book! She deftly weaves fact and fiction into a wonderful narrative. She doesn't shy a way from sensitive topics to the betterment of the plot. A good example from Belial Blood, the idea that as a man called Rabbi, Jesus must have been married, and the most likely woman was Mary Magdalene.
The Belial Blood is another excellent trip into Brady’s Rebirth Series. It flows so well. You will not want to put it down. You are so sure you will get some answers and then———. Start with the 1st book in the beginning Belial Series. Treat yourself. I did. Now must wait for the next book
The story is still interesting, Brady is able to successfully create believable characters for the world she has created. I don't know what Brady has planned next but please let this series wrap up more quickly than the first. As much as I love the series, there are enough characters and origin stories to reach an exciting finish sooner than later
I love this series and if in the middle of any other book when one comes out ? The one I'm reading is put on hold so I can read the new Belial novel. RD Brady is one of the best authors I've had the pleasure of reading. Thank you so much for sharing your talent !
Mrs. Brady has once again left you wanting more. You won't be able to put it down. I like the fact that Laney seem confussed, doubts herself, but she keeps fighting. Plus, one of the greatest cliff hangers of all times, can't wait for one of the greatest writers to continue this great adventure. Always a great history lesson along the way.
Once again Brady has grabbed me in a vice grip and still hasn't let go, even though I've finished this volume. I am absolutely enthralled with this story line and can't wait for the next volume to be released.
I love the Belial series. There is always so much to learn about the past and present. And about people over the ages. If you enjoy tomance, intrigue and archeology you will enjoy this series
The story is compelling. I love the good guys and hate the bad guys. I went down a star because of this book, out of all of them, had grammatical errors that really were a huge distraction to me. I did love the story.
I love this series. I read a lot and this is a series that I can pick up and remember where It left off. The characters are so very real and the story though disturbing, is ver interesting.
I loved the plot and characters. The twists and turns, but someone really needs to edit the book. When there is an error it brings me out of the story.
RJ never fails to throw unexpected curveballs into each book, and this is no exception. It contains all the fascinating history, biblical questions and cliffhangers anyone addicted to her books knows to expect. If this is the first book in the series you have read, start at the beginning and read them all. They are all different and are all worth it.
