Cornwall has probably the best coastline of any part of Britain. From mile-long sandy beaches to treacherous rocky coves. From sheltered harbours fishing boats set forth. Sometimes tranquil, sometimes rought the coast changes mood with the seasons.
This small book of photographs is an ideal souvenir of Cornwall.
Photographer Bob Croxford captures the essence of Cornwall in a series of stunning photographs that exemplify the changing moods of the county and its great variety of scenery, from glorious sandy beaches to sheltered harbours to rugged coastal scenery and treacherous rocky coves.
I well remember my first trip to Cornwall and Linda and I went as a young engaged couple to Polperro (we had separate rooms!!!) and having been brought up in Blackpool, where the sea is a muddy brown, I was amazed at the differing blues of the sea down there. And there are three nostalgic (at least for me) photographs of Polperro from the sea and that is where we first viewed it in its entirety as we hired a local fisherman to row us around the coastline.
Nearby Looe is also featured, bustling and quite different in character to Polperro but fascinating nevertheless; we walked from Polperro to Looe (six miles approximately) and very nearly missed the last bus back. We also sailed to Mevagissey with its delightful harbour so the photographs of these places bring back happy memories for me.
Falmouth is featured with its busy docking area and there is the township of Penzance but there are also quiet restful looking places such as Daymer Bay, the serene St Just in Roseland and Holywell Beach. It all makes for a desire to return and admire the scenery all over again ... particularly on a rainy, windy and somewhat cold day like today here in Blackpool!
Bob Croxford has done a splendid job in portraying the coastline and all the photographs make one appreciate the beauty of England.
Great little book .Good photos which give you an Idea of the places you may wish to visit, It does not cover every cove and beach. But at this size you can take it with you. Happy memories or ones to make.
