Georgia Peaches #16

A Harvest Heart

Rate this book
Hope Richardson is good at just that—hoping. Problem is, she’s often disappointed—by fathers who die, boyfriends who ghost her, and lack of promotion at her event planning firm. It’s her twin sister, Faith, for whom things work out. When Faith’s fiancé lands an out-of-town job, Hope is called home to plan a wedding in the Georgia foothills … and jumpstart the tea room Faith was supposed to run with their mother.

Of all the people to make the first reservation for his family farm’s new event barn, Tucker Bradshaw least expects Hope Richardson. She might’ve rebound-dated him their senior year of high school, but she was all too eager to run back to the star football player in college. Always wanting something bigger and better than their hometown of Clarkesville. Than him.

Her sister’s wedding plans land Hope in the midst of the opening season for Tucker’s corn maze. When a harvest romance reignites, Hope searches for the faith to finally live up to her name.

A Harvest Heart was a sweet second chance love story. It was clear to me that there had to have been some misunderstanding in their pasts that drove them apart and I was eager to know what exactly happened. While the author was able to keep the details of what caused the break up quiet until near the end of the novella, it was clear that both Hope and Tucker had been very hurt and did not trust each other easily. Tucker, especially, was quick to jump to the wrong conclusions at times.

I enjoyed the autumn setting in this book and it was easy for me to imagine the fall festival and wedding preparations needed to pull off Faith’s fall wedding. If you are looking for a fun and easy read set in fall, A Harvest Heart is a good option. It is a stand alone story in the Georgia Peaches series, which is written by several different authors.

TUCKER, HOPE, HAPPINESS, AND A FUTURE

I enjoyed this sweet, clean contemporary tale that is a second-chance romance. While this story is part of the Georgia Peaches series, it will read as a stand-alone.

Hope and Faith Richardson are twins and while alike are also very different too. Hope is outgoing and has big plans for her future. She went away to school, rather than the smaller community college. Just when her dreams are coming true, she gets a call to come home. Faith is engaged and now Hope is to be there to help plan the wedding just as she is to start her dream job.

Tucker Bradshaw returned to the town he grew up in and is actively involved in the planting and improvement of the Bradshaw family farm. He has big dreams and plans for expansion that will bring in more income. The new barn will host events and even weddings.

Faith wants her reception held at the Bradshaw farm—but that will mean that Hope and Tucker must work together. Neither of them still don’t know what happened while in college—why things went wrong, just when they seemed to be working so right. Will they be able to put their differences aside for business and make Faith’s wedding work? But more than that, will they discover that interference caused their issues and move beyond them?

“Tucker, Hope’s rock, the common foundation between past and present. Her future.”

I liked the two main characters and the secondary characters that mesh this story together. Hope may have wanted to live in the bigger city, but she was escaping the pain of her hometown. Tucker returned, but is he ready to work with Hope at the wedding venue? And now that there is a tea house in the works, it keeps everyone busy. Best of all—as with any story, I love the sweet fairy tale ending of happily ever after.

They are headed down different paths..or are they?

Sometimes you just need a little break, to step away from all the bad news out there, and instead focus on the wholesome and heartwarming things in life. Things like family, and heritage, fat orange pumpkins, and sweet peaches, corn mazes, and finding the place you are meant to be. All of those things make up the charming and delightful novella that is A Harvest Heart.

Every bit as good as Denise Weimer's first Georgia Peaches novel, this one captured my heart from the very first page. Like a fuzzy blanket and a hot cup of spiced chai, A Harvest Heart was exactly what I needed and didn't know it. By chance or by blessing, I wasn't into the story very far before I realized that I had unwittingly picked up precisely the escape I was in need of; a truly heartwarming tale of family, faith, and second chances.

A truly liked Denise Weimer's better-than-a-Hallmark-movie style of storytelling. Her characters kept me entertained and entirely absorbed in their story. I laughed, I cheered, and I flat-out enjoyed myself. Seriously, what more could you possibly ask for in a good novella? This Georgia Peaches tale is definitely going on my favorite novellas list for this year!

I found A Harvest Heart to be well written and I enjoyed reading it. I liked Hope and Tucker and was glad to see growth in their lives. There isn't much of a biblical faith thread, but is a little. I loved the setting of the tea room and farm and wished I could go visit them. The second chance romance theme was great and it was fun to see Hope and Tucker reconnect. I look forward to reading more books by Denise Weimer.

Loved the small towns romance

Demise is a wonderful wordsmith. I enjoyed the clever way the romance unfolded. Southern fiction set in small towns are fun reads. I felt I was right there in Georgia following the characters as it all played out. Can't wait for the next one.

Hope Richardson has plans to stay in Athens and work at her brand new job until her mom and twin sister Faith visit her new apartment. Faith is getting married and moving with her fiancé to Chattanooga, so she needs Hope to come home to Clarkesville to help their mother set up their Aunt Olivia's cottage as a tea room. The problem is since their dad died unexpectedly of a brain aneurysm, Hope has been avoiding home and the pain that comes with it as much as possible. Can she work past the pain of the past to become open to love again?

Tucker Bradshaw helps out on his family's farm after graduating from college. The last thing that he expects is Hope Richardson to appear on his doorstep. She broke his heart in college by choosing the quarterback over him, and he's still not quite over her. He is weary of letting her back into his life, but when they book his family's event barn for Faith's wedding, Tucker can't help but feel attachments growing again. Can Tucker get past old misunderstandings and let Hope into his life again?

I loved watching Hope and Tucker's relationship develop! I also liked the sibling scenes and the scenes at the up-and-coming tea room. I love that a lot of the story takes place in and mentions settings that I am familiar with: Athens, Tifton, ABAC, Habersham. Wonderful ending!

'Why was she here? They had things well in hand without her. She was just the burr in the saddle.'

A Harvest Heart is a poignant story of loss, loneliness, and misunderstandings, but author Denise Weimer buffers it with hope, forgiveness, and sweet romance. I was touched by Hope Richardson's feelings of being alone, and I was totally rooting for a reunion between her and Tucker Bradshaw. Would they be able to regain the trust that they'd both lost many years ago?

I love the Autumn season and I especially loved Weimer's description of Faith's wedding reception, with pumpkins, mums, autumn leaves, golden ribbons, and candles in hurricane globes. A beautiful setting, appealing characters, and the promise of second chances make this an enjoyable read. I recommend A Harvest Heart to all who are looking for an engaging, clean romance!
