En ambulanshelikopter kallas till ett fritidshus utanför Norrtälje, men det är försent. Livet går inte att rädda på den 57-årige mannen. Hans fästmö förklarar för sjukvårdspersonalen att mannen, Ove, haft problem med hjärtat och alkoholen, och dödsfallet konstateras ha naturliga orsaker. Men när familjen får det tragiska beskedet reagerar Oves dotter starkt på fästmöns berättelse. Vad hände egentligen Oves sista dag i livet?

Advokat Thomas Bodström företrädde familjen i rättegången om Oves död. Nu berättar Bodström på ett personligt sätt hela den häpnadsväckande historien om detta ovanliga mordfall - från att Ove träffar fästmön första gången fram till att domen faller. Genom intervjuer med familj, vänner och poliser tecknar Bodström en levande bild av relationen mellan Ove och fästmön, liksom tiden efteråt då dottern Loise kämpar för att få polisen att undersöka hennes pappas plötsliga död. En envis kamp som möts av hårt motstånd - ända tills ett avgörande spår dyker upp.

Svarta änkan är en skakande skildring av ett av Sveriges mest omskrivna mordfall på senare år. Utan dottern Loises insatser hade mordet troligen aldrig upptäckts. En mördare hade gått fri och en ny man hade sannolikt svävat i livsfara.

På den senaste tiden har jag inte haft särskilt stor läslust. Men denna bok väckte mitt intresse igen! Jag sträckläste den under eftermiddagen efter jobbet. Trots den obeskrivliga, otänkbara berättelse kunde jag inte lägga ifrån mig storyn, personerna, situationen, familjens drivkraft. True crime böcker kanske är min nya grej?

Boken var uppdelad i två så den första var bättre med själva bakgrunden och mordet. Otroligt med alla motgångar och att bli misstrodd.
Andra delen med rättegång och tyckte det var mycket upprepningar men ändå intressant.

First off, this book is a solid three-star read for me. It’s chilling, intriguing, and it kept me turning the pages, wondering what would happen next. True crime enthusiasts will definitely find this one engaging!

The narrative unravels the heartbreaking story of Ove's sudden death and the relentless pursuit of truth by his courageous daughter, Loise Dolk. It's a story that had my heart pounding and my mind whirling. Loise's strength and determination, her unwillingness to accept the narrative handed to her, were truly inspiring. Without her efforts, justice might have remained a distant dream. It's a powerful testament to the strength of familial bonds and the resilience of the human spirit.

And then we have Barbara. It's hard to wrap my head around how individuals like her exist, manipulating and hurting others so effortlessly, weaving a web of charm and deceit. The portrayal of Barbara in this book is chillingly effective, painting a vivid picture of a person who causes harm without a second thought.

Bodström did a commendable job bringing the story to life. He skillfully used interviews with family, friends, and police to create a vivid picture of Ove's relationship with his fiancée and the aftermath of his death. He portrayed the fight for justice with empathy and intensity.

"Svarta änkan" is a striking depiction of one of Sweden's most talked-about murder cases in recent years. If you're a fan of true crime, or just looking for a gripping read, give this one a go.

I don't like true crime-stories when they're sensationalized. I don't like it when cops, lawyers, defenders, survivors or any other self-proclaimed expert describes events with their prejudice, experiences and delusions. Thomas Bodström represented Louise Dolk in court regarding the alleged murder of her father by her stepmother, Barbara. in this case Barbara was convicted of the crime and while it offered closure and peace for Louise, Bodströms testimony sensationalizes Barbara the character to a charicature best portrayed in Netflix's "Orange Is The New Black" or as a Disney villain. While I'm sure Bodström kept Louise's experience with the highest possible regard, the end result almost glamourizes Barbara herself leaving the occasional trace of actual tragedy and loss of Louise's father. It's sad to see that however Louise may have felt about Barbara Bodströms count of events makes Ove's death no comparable justice.

En ganska torftig bok om ett spännande mordfall. Mest intressant hur lite som kan krävas för att komma undan med ett mord om det inte hade funnits någon som brydde sig om mordoffret.
