Fun romantic suspense! It has a very soft look at human trafficking, so there aren't really any triggers for content apart from talking about it and trying to prevent it from happening.
Ken and Elodie were fun leads, though they did have insta-love-ish vibes with non explicit scenes.

As the title states, the setting for this romantic suspense novel is the French riviera. That alone sets is apart from numerous books in the genre set in the US because it incorporates the different set-up of law enforcement as well as descriptions of a truly beautiful part of France.
The story itself is fast-paced with thoroughly likeable characters, the subject matter - human trafficking - described in an altogether too-frightingly realistic way that could serve as a warning to impressionable girls all over the world should they ever read such a book. I loved that Elodie ended up thumbing her nose at those who tried to hold her back. The romance between her and Ken happened fast, but was described in a way that made it totally believable. I guess you could describe their ending as HFN (Happy for now) and I hope we will meet them again when the series continues. A great start to a new series!

Il s'agit d'un genre particulier puisqu'il s'agit d'une romance à suspense. En effet on suit une enquête policière pleine de rebondissements avec une jolie petite romance à la clé.
J'ai aimé l'intrigue policière, on a envie de savoir c'est assez addictif et rapide (pas de longueurs insupportables ).
Du côté de la romance je l'ai trouvé très mignonne même si pour moi elle n'est pas assez présente. Mais je comprend aussi que ce serait de délicat de mettre trop de romance quand les personnages traversent des moments compliqués ça serait plutôt mal venu. Ken, Elodie, Jimmy et Ted sont des personnages très sympathiques et attachants, j'ai aimé suivre leurs aventures sur la côte d'Azur.
Bref j'ai bien aimé ce mélange de genre c'était très sympa.

This translation from French (Tamara Balliana wrote the book and Olivia translated it) was well done, and the story flowed well. Ken Dylan arrives back from a deployment to find his young sister Madison missing from their apartment. Their parents are dead and he's been responsible for her welfare for some years and is quite concerned. Turns out Madison is on a French escapade with man called Arkady. But once Ken manages to retrieve his messages, he realizes that Madison is in big trouble. Ken and Jimmy take off to Cannes to rescue her. There they meet Elodie Coussa who offers to help. Elodie is currently relegated to a desk job in her precinct, having been rattling the wrong cages, and jumps at the chance to do something other than push paper. The inclusion of a human trafficking angle makes this storyline a little dark but intriguing. I wasn't sure that they would succeed in their rescue attempt. I enjoyed this book so much that I've decided to read the next one in the series - Italian Pursuit - and expect to like that one just as much.

The hero is very 90s to me somehow. Which wouldn't be a bad thing if I were watching this as a movie. But it's a book and he had me cringing at times. So, I took a point off because it never quite connected for me off the screen. The story is about the hero's sister, who is kidnapped into sex trafficking. The heroine is the French officer battling dirty cops in her own rank, who is willing to put her job on the line to save this girl. She's impressive as an officer and a person. And in the age of BLM, she's just the kind of officer that you want to be reading about. I haven't been interested in a book in what seems like forever. I was genuinely excited to get to my book the next day. I'm intrigued by the mystery and the high stakes. I love the heroine's all-around badassery. The hero is meh, but on screen, he'd probably shine. Expect a solid storyline and writing.

Caracters are passionate and rich of sex appeal, but ready to fight crime and injustice.

Parmi les genres de la romance peu représentés en France, il y a "le romantic suspense" et c'est dommage car il mêle une histoire d'amour à une intrigue policière (ou similaire)J'ai donc été ravie de découvrir qu'Olivia Rigal, que je suis depuis de nombreuses années maintenant, s'était associée à Tamara Balliana pour créer une nouvelle série de ce genre : "Riviera Security" dont le tome 2 "Italian Pursuit" vient juste de sortir... Chaque tome peut se lire seul.

"French escapade" (le tome1) est sorti le 29 mai en auto-édition (ebook et papier : il nous présente non seulement le cadre de la série mais aussi les personnages de l'agence de sécurité qui donne son nom à l'ensemble.
Nous découvrons ici l'histoire de deux amis américains, Ken et Jimmy qui vont se lancer à la recherche de la jeune soeur du premier dans le Sud de la France. En effet, tous deux font partie de l'armée et sont dans un service d'élite : quand commence le roman, ils sont de retour chez eux après une mission qui les a éloignés longtemps de leurs proches : la soeur de Ken, Madison et la fiancée de Jimmy, Marie. Ils sont en compagnie d'un troisième compagnon Mouss et si la mère de ce dernier est là pour les accueillir, ce n'est malheureusement pas le cas des deux jeunes femmes. Ken semble inquiet pour son ami car il pense que sa fiancée ne soit pas quelqu'un de bien. Mais quand il rentre chez lui, il trouve la maison vide et sa soeur est absente. Pire, le courrier, qui n'a pas été relevé depuis longtemps, semble laisser penser que Madison n'est pas là depuis un moment déjà. Son ami ne tarde pas le rejoindre l'informant que sa fiancée l'a quitté pendant sa mission! pfffffff Mais très vite, les deux hommes ne vont pas avoir le temps de pleurer sur le sort de Jimmy car ils réalisent qu'il se passe quelque chose et que Madison a disparu : en reprenant les messages qu'elle lui a laissés, Ken découvre qu'elle a rencontré quelqu'un et que celui-ci l'a emmené en France, Paris puis Cannes mais le dernier est inquiétant : sa soeur l'informe que son nouveau petit ami lui a pris son passeport et l'empêche de rentrer chez elle par tous les moyens... la fin du dit-message audio est inaudible mais il n'en faut pas plus pour que les deux hommes reprennent leur sac et partent en France à la recherche de Madison... Mais la retrouveront-ils ? fort heureusement dans leur enquête, ils vont rencontrer une jeune policière, Elodie, qui ne semble pas en odeur de sainteté auprès de sa hiérarchie et de ses collègues mais qui ne va pas hésiter à les aider...
Alors, arriveront-ils à eux tous à retrouver à temps Madison? Que va-t-il arriver Elodie qui outrepasse visiblement ses fonctions? et bien vous le saurez en lisant ce très bon tome 1 car une fois commencé, on ne peut pas le lâcher!

Je l'ai dit en préambule, j'ai bien aimé ce roman avec lequel j'ai passé un très bon moment : le rythme est intéressant, l'histoire prenante et l'on ne s'ennuie pas un seul instant. De plus, les personnages sont soit suffisamment attachants, soit suffisamment intéressants pour que l'on ait envie de les revoir dans d'autres tomes. D'ailleurs, les auteures dosent savamment la partie romance puisqu'elle va naître au sein de cette enquête policière un peu particulière car Ken a un ami sur place qui a une agence de sécurité, Ted, qui est un ancien militaire de leur équipe et donc, évidemment en qui ils ont totalement confiance. et qui va les aider. J'avoue, j'ai craqué pour ce dernier, moi ^^ mais j'y reviendrai :)
C'est une narration à double point de vue puisqu'on a tantôt le point de vue de Ken, puis celui d'Elodie : cela permet non seulement de voir l'évolution de l'intrigue à travers leurs regards mais aussi leurs sentiments et émotions. Ainsi, Ken s'en veut presque d'être attiré par Elodie alors qu'il est à la recherche de sa soeur qui est en grand danger : en effet, celui qui la détient est un malfrat russe de la pire espèce. De plus, tous deux ont un métier prenant et surtout vivent sur un continent différent : beaucoup d'obstacles dès le départ...

French Escapade est un mélange joliment dosé de suspense, avec une enquête rondement menée, et de romance, avec la rencontre de deux personnages forts et courageux et au grand coeur.

L’histoire commence aux États-Unis avec notre héros Ken ( pour Kenneth et non Barbie et Ken lol ), un militaire rentré aux bercailles après une mission. Il découvre que sa soeur est en France, elle a suivi un type qui lui a d’abord semblé merveilleux mais finalement… C’est un enlèvement et le type en question c’est un monstre. Ken part donc sur la Riviera avec son collègue et ami Jimmy. Là ils rencontrent Élodie, une flic française mis au placard car trop honnête et éprise de justice (oui elle n’aime pas les ripoux). Élodie va bien entendu aider nos deux beaux américains, avec aussi l’aide de Ted, ami des deux militaires vivant en France et ayant sa propre agence de gros bras.

On se promène dans le sud, avec en prime une visite dans une célèbre gendarmerie et ça ça fait carrément du bien! Voyager et prendre le soleil sans même bouger de son canapé!!! Merci aux auteures!!!

Le côté suspense est intelligent et bien travaillé. Il n’y a pas vraiment de temps mort ou de longueur. Plusieurs personnages secondaires intéressants sont très utiles et on espère les revoir. Le méchant de l’histoire… vu ses intentions et ses crimes j’avais envie de le haïr mais il manque peut-être un poil de détails ou de gestes ou de paroles qui le rendent vraiment ignobles. La scène où il est arrêté est aussi un poil trop facile à mon goût (c’est peut-être parce que j’ai l’esprit tordu ceci-dit). Élodie tient un peu l’enquête sur ses épaules, parce qu’elle est dans sa région, qu’elle connaît le criminel etc… et je l’ai énormément admirée pour ça. Elle oublie ses propres intérêts et fait tout pour sauver une inconnue. C’est une flic au top et une femme formidable! Ken lui se laisse plus porter et par moment j’avais envie de le secouer et de lui rappeler que sa soeur était entre les mains de criminels et que ce n’était pas le moment d’admirer le paysage ou de faire le petit déj à sa belle. Je me dis que si on enlève votre soeur vous devez vous retourner le cerveau h24, vous devez vous imaginer le pire, vous ronger les sangs, presser la police… Et quand il la retrouve… Il la laisse seule pour passer du temps avec sa nouvelle chérie. Un petit-ami sympa mais pas le meilleur des grands frères. Quand à la petite soeur… on comprend pourquoi elle s’est fait bernée, par contre avec ce qu’il s’est passé je m’attendais à ce qu’elle soit un minimum traumatisée…

Le côté romance est justement dosé, il ne prend pas toute la place au point d’en faire oublier l’enquête, on a quelques scènes, quelques phrases ici et là et c’est suffisant. J’ai BEAUCOUP apprécié que Ken ne pense pas qu’avec ses attributs et qu’il soit un vrai gentleman (j’ai l’impression que ça se fait de plus en plus rare). Je comprends pourquoi Élodie est tombée sous le charme. Certes tout se passe très vite mais les conditions de leur rencontre et l’intensité des événements le justifient.

Petite observation comme ça en plus… Je tire mon chapeau à Madame Balliana et à Madame Rigal car elles ont réussi à créer une « unité » dans leur écriture, une fluidité… On ne sait pas qui a écrit quoi, leur plumes ont « communié » et tout le long de ma lecture je me suis dit « wow comment elles ont fait??? ».

En bref : une enquête intéressante menée par un couple admirable avec pour décor la French Riviera. Une belle lecture pour cet été!

Arkady Oushkin is a Russian criminal auctions off women to the highest bidder. She offers to help even though she is on thin ice with her department. As the mission progresses he brings in his friend Ted Carter of Rivera Security who is ex military. Soon they realized what Arkady is up to. He is a Russian criminal who auctions off women to the highest bidder. Things heat up when they soon realize that they don't know who they can trust.The four of them embark on a dangerous, intense action packed, suspense filled, mission to rescue Madison along with other women that it will have you so immersed that you won't be able to set it down. There is also an undeniable chemistry between Kenneth and Elodie that steams up the pages in the best way possible. This book has everything you hoped for in one book danger, action,mystery, corruption, suspense, friendship, family and even love.

When Kenneth Dylan returns home and doesn't find his sister Madison, he waits a few hours before he really starts to worry when he gets a message from her asking for help.
He and his friend Jimmy immediately leave for Cannes in search of Madison and there they find the help of French police officer Élodie Cossa, who immediately offers to help them.
After a few discoveries, they have little time to act before it's too late and they lose Madison forever. When they put their plan into action, some twists and turns get in the way of the rescue.
Besides Jimmy, Ken and Élodie have the help of Ted and his team for the rescue.
As they deal with all the thrills of rescuing Madison, the attraction between Ken and Élodie only grows and it's interesting to see the interactions between them.
I loved the story and the characters. I'm already looking forward to the next book in this series. I highly recommend the reading.

Thank goodness that Olivia Rigal and Tamara Balliana decided to collaborate; the result of this amazing partnership is French Escapade; and better yet, it is just the first in the Riviera Security series.
French Escapade is an exciting read; once you start, you won't want to put it down. It follows the journey of Kenneth and Jimmy, sexy military heroes, as they travel the world to find Kenneth's sister, Madison, who has disappeared with a suspicious man. Upon arrival to the French Riviera, their paths cross with Elodie, a beautiful French Officer, and the fun begins.
French Escapade is a fast-paced, exciting read, with sex trafficking, drugs, suspense, and red hot passion throughout.

I read an ARC of French Escapade, left this honest review, and am looking forward to reading the rest of the Riviera Security series.

I was given an advanced coy in exchange for an honest review. I have to say that from the start, the book just took off. There was no slow buildup and just jumped right into the excitement. I enjoyed how the story took place across the globe and showcased collaboration with foreign law enforcement. The characters interacted very well and you could feel the loyalty and friendship between them. Even the developing relationship between the main characters was great to follow. This book didn't have any of the hot and heavy steamy scenes that a lot of today's popular books had which I found refreshing. This book also didn't need any of that extra steam. This book kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire story and can't wait for the next installment.

A bit of a slow start with, what I felt, unnecessary explanations. But then it became very interesting with good unexpected twists. A nice amount of romance and great sexual tension. I like that the story ended with no cliff hanger, but leads into the next in series if you should choose to read it.

There is a nice mix of strong alpha male soldier, strong independent female cop, and even the victims have a strength about them. Full of suspense and interesting characters. I can’t wait to read about Jimmy next. I received a copy of this book to review it. Would I recommend? Yes.

I love all of Olivia Rigal's books and this is no exception.
It is a collaboration with Tamara Balliana and I have to admit that I loved the book.
It is an amazing story, it has suspense, action, romance and passion and ohhh the sexual tension...!
I loved the characters in the book as well as the fast pace of the story while the twists and turns are unravelled. I could not put it down. I cant's wait to read the next book in the series with Jimmy's story.

C'est avec plaisir que je le suis plongée dans ce romantic suspens, un genre que j'apprécie particulièrement car il mélange romance et enquête policière. Malheureusement, c'est un genre qui se fait plutôt rare et c'est dommage.
L'histoire de Ken et Elodie va certes très vite, mais les événements s'enchaînent et captent l'attention. Livre dévoré en une journée.
