Based on what has been said by the greatest psychologists of our time, this book tells the reader what is the concept of romantic love and how to be in a relationship without getting hurt. It is about how to further strengthen a healthy relationship and how to get out of a toxic relationship. The choice that life offers is whether one wants ten superficial, meaningless relationships, or one great relationship that lasts a lifetime. Here are some of the quotes from the book.
“A day spent in understanding your partner will pay you much bigger dividends than a year spent around the world trying to find yourself.”
“You can give ten years of your life to an adorable fool, but you should not waste a minute on a mean scoundrel.”
All About Romantic Love – A Three Sixty Degree View of Relationships by an IAS Retd. Dr Govind Sharma is a non-fiction genre about the psychology of relationships.
The book contains 7 chapters and it tries to explain the concept of romantic love on the basis of Freud’s theories of love, Sternberg’s triangle of relationships and Eric Berne’s Transactional Analysis. It will help you to understand what is love and how to be in a relationship.
In 3-6 chapters author has explained the content through case studies from Doctor Dev’s Clinic with fictional characters and incidents. The narration is gripping. The language is simple and understandable. The characters are well developed. The title and cover perfectly matched the content.
A book on romance, relationships, how to last your relationship and how you can judge your partner which is a great initiative by the author.
Since many people know that they are in love but don't know how to nurture that relationship. The author has used many examples so that the reader will connect to the story easily.
The book is divided into chapters which are easily understandable and readable for any reader. The author had tried to make people hit reality so that they can differentiate between good and bad in love and relationships.
Very true meaning and informative book for everyone to read.
Love is as complex a word as it is beautiful. Romantic love is a beautiful mystery, if done right it can make your life a paradise and if it goes wrong, you go through a hellish experience. Why do you always get attracted to a certain kind of person? Why do you feel the highs and lows when you are in love? What is the source of the increased energy and confidence when you are in love? Why love fades away? What is a perfect relationship? What are the essential elements of it? How to identify a toxic relationship and get out of it?
So many questions! This little book answers many of these questions and much more. All About Romantic Love by Dr. Govind Sharma is a non fiction book exploring the concept of romantic love from a psychological point of view. While love has been a focal point of poetry and many fictional tales, one rarely comes across a book that explores the concept as a thing to be understood scientifically by using concepts of psychology.
I found this book very interesting and insightful. It also has real life case studies as chapters which form a major part of the book. Written in a simple language, the author has refrained from using too many technical terms and has quoted psychologists' and their works in perfect amount wherever necessary.
However, I am someone who would have really liked it better if the case studies were incorporated in chapters rather than being chapters themselves. I would have also liked to read more about the scientific and psychological stuff.
If you are someone who rarely reads non fiction, this book might interest you as the concept it explores is something which affects everyone and it has some useful tips and knowledge to offer on same.
All About Romantic Love Author : Dr. Govind Sharma IAS Retd. Rated : 4.5 on 5 ⭐
This book isn't a regular non-fiction book. It's a blend of Human Psychology on the aspects of Love, more specifically, Romantic love.
From the blurb, I could understand that a reader will be familiar with know-hows of healthy relationships, toxic relationships and how to strengthen it.
Chapter one expanded on scientific ideas, Freudian theory of Love and psychology. And ideas of other psychologists. I felt that too much information was crammed up in first two chapters.
But later came the short stories on the topics that simplified those concepts, that too in a form of a stories. Such stories aren't unfamiliar to us, we have all seen such couples who surround us, who're always in a state of distress. Reading them made me feel like getting a short glimpse into their mind's working as well. Even many examples are given of couples who've attained fulfilment in Love, be it from Books, Movies or celebrity couples.
After reading the book, I could understand how even if it's about Romantic Love, what affects it is : relationships with we have in different dimensions of our life, the kind of love we give to ourselves (self-esteem needs), social standing, and our childhood. Which stays the core concept of 'Psychoanalysis'.
I felt the book anecdote style is similar to Govind Sharma ji's another work "The Break-up Clinic". However, with much more improvisation and psychological details. I can conclude that not just fiction but also non-fiction or rather, creative fiction is also a strong working point of the Author. I'm grateful to have read this book and shall continue reading more of Dr. Govind Sharma ji's works.
I would recommend everyone to read this book to understand what are the elements that genuinely consist the idea of a romantic relationship. And to get some reality checks for the sake of self-retrospection.
All about Romantic Love : A Three Sixty Degree View of Relationships by Dr. Govind Sharma :-
I am a regular reader of Dr.Govind sharmas books. In this book the author talks about various stages of relationships and its impacts on present generation. It is very much clear that the author has written this book after so many research's on the subject. This book is based on Freud's theroies of love , Sternberg's triangle of relationships and Eric Berne's transactional analysis.
One of the many things I love about this book is that it forced me to think a bit deeper about what I consider love.
The book is having few examples starting with the stories from chapters 3 through 6. These stories are good examples. The stories give us a glimpse how failed love can effect a person.
Dr.Govind Sharma is a wonderful writer and I sped through this book in one weekend. the subject matter is fascinating, as well as being timely and practically important.
I would recommend this book for anyone who is just beginning to explore questions about the nature of love (both in a philosophical, abstract and a practical sense, meaning how the nature of love is interacting with you in your life).
I loved this book. It’s brilliant. It’s validating. Once again I recommend this for anyone questioning the nature of love, and anyone who is thrilled, concerned, interested, or disgusted by non-monogamous relationships. Overall this is a good read.
This is the first book I have ever read about love and relationships and I found it very insightful. I think everyone should check out this small non-fiction book. The book is divided into 7 chapters, in the first 2 chapters the author has given an introduction to love, relationships, failure in love, right partner, commitment, intimacy, passion, consummate love, immature partner, stages of a relationship in the modern era, an off & on relationship, manipulative partner, narcissistic partners, and many more topics. Then chapters 3 to 6 are a case study of 4 different relationships, highlighting the lessons associated with them. If you have ever been in a relationship, you can easily relate to any of the topics discussed. And the final chapter is like a summary + tips where the author describes what it takes to have a healthy relationship and the efforts you should make to understand your partner and make them feel happy and secure and here also he covered topics like jealousy and many more. As love and relationship is something we all come across at a certain point in life so even if you are happy or going through a hard time, single or in a relationship, this book can give you clarity and you may find a whole new perspective on love and relationships and might help you figure out the right partner for you and any mistakes you are doing unknowingly. Thank you.
Book: All About Romantic Love Author: Dr. Govind Sharma Genre: Non-fiction ( Family and relationship) Pages: 110 Rating: 4.35/5
All About Romantic Love, A three-sixty degree view of relationship by author Dr. Govind Sharma is a short book that revolves around love as mentioned in the title.
The book discusses every aspect of love. How people are attracted towards each other, how chemicals and hormones in our body play a vital role in it, what happens after someone gets into a relationship, what are the important factors that keep a relationship alive, what is a toxic relationship, how mental health effects because of this and everything that revolves around this topic.
There are four fictional case studies given in the book which I adore the most because when information and things you want to tell and convey are portrayed by a story, the connection with the information has a deep and long-lasting effect. The information than feels more interesting, engaging, and intriguing, and not some feel like facts. And that's why I liked that portion most. The case studies here tell important and key factors that help to keep the relationship alive if it's not toxic and how to identify toxic relationships.
This is a short but power-packed book rich in content. I will recommend it to everyone who wants to know more about relationships and the psychology behind them. I will say it is essential reading. The language of the book is also simple so it is beginner-friendly too.
All About Romantic Love - A Three Sixty Degree View of Relationships Author: Dr. Govind Sharma ( IAS Retd. ) _____________ Love makes the world go round. Love is the same word that amazes us. How complex yet simply beautiful it is.
I have always found Dr. Govind Sharma's non fiction books as wholesome. I was really very interested to read his latest release after I read The Break Up Clinic last year. It enlightened me about psychoanalysis of victims of romantic break ups.
New w this book explains the concept of romantic love mainly on the basis of immenent psychologists like Freud'sTheories of Love, Stern Berg's Triangle of relationships, Eric Bernie's Transactional analysis. But this is not at all a heavy book to understand instead it's been kept lucid, brief and to the point.
It cannot be used for psychotherapy but it explains how it can help in treating patients who have gone through psychological trauma based on unsuccessful relationships.
The chapters explain how sex hormones change of perception in youth towards the opposite sex, how our society takes it and how the different generations take romance.
The next four chapters are fictional examples of Dr. Dev who helps patients live a normal life after childhood trauma and getting their hearts broken leading to a damaged psyche who after psychoanalysis know how to sustain a healthy relationship.
It is inked into 110 pages. Brief and lucid it's a knowledgable book that helps you understand why break ups happen and if happens how to understand your psyche changes during the phase and come out of the trauma fast to lead a healthy life.
I do recommend it. One will find it very interesting.
First of all thanks to Govind sharma for always sending his copy of books to me so that I can read and review the same. This time Govind Sharma has written not a story but a psychoanalysis of romantic love relationship. What is actual love? What is fake love? What is advantage love? And many other what's related to romantic relationship. Author has also added some fictitious case study related to romantic relationships with extreme conditions. Author also tells us when to leave and when to stay in relationship. Overall doctor Dev has tried to help people who are stuck in toxic relationship and are thinking what to do with their relationship. Overall i would say it's a informative Goodread... 🙂
This book is about the concept of love, as the title suggests. It's more like a research on relationship psychology. It comes from Sigmund Freud, Eric Berne, and Sternberg, all of whom are known for their psychological views. These hypotheses are fascinating to read; some of them I may not agree with, while others seem to say exactly what has to be spoken. This book allows us to consider a variety of viewpoints on the concept of love. . The book comprises seven chapters in approx 100 pages. The author has done extensive research and provided numerous references. The writing style is formal and articulate. People find love to be the most engaging notion, and the most profound question is what is love. And, as previously stated, love has the ability to both build and destroy. This book is about love; it discusses the theory and philosophy of love, as well as fictional case studies that help readers understand the theory. Then there's a discussion about what constitutes an ideal partnership. The book also makes you rethink your previous ideas about love and allows you to reflect on them.) He approaches the idea in a purely scientific manner, allowing readers to approach the problem from a new angle. This isn't your typical non-fiction book.Such stories aren't new to us and have lessons.
All About romantic love is all about explaining the concept of love and romance on basis of some great psychologists theories. some case studies were also present there, is basically based on fictional characters just for the sake of explaining the concepts. We can really find some interesting concept explained by the author of some psychologists theory around the three points: intimacy passion and commitment. I generally do not read that much of nonfiction but this one somehow it kept me interested and I enjoyed reading it.
At first, the book cover is cool and contemporary that I thought it was a romantic fiction at an initial glance. But it was way more informative and helpful to know various romantic theories of modern-day psychologists.
The author in this short book predominantly discusses three theories: Freud's love theories, Sternberg's triangle of love, and Berne's transactional analysis.
The beauty of this book is author's simple and easy-to-understand narration with case studies included to make the reader know about the current relationship scenario between couples and how you can approach the relationship problems and solve them.
This book is confined to heterosexual love and relationship and about Indian families and couples, and its complexity and toxicity, and how to overcome it with mutual understanding and trust to lead a good life.
I really liked the Sternberg's practical theory of IPC triangle — intimacy, passion and commitment. Here, all the three ingredients are important for a stable and long-term healthy relationship as each are interrelated with one another. This is called a consummate love, where lifelong happiness is guaranteed.
Mr Sharma also outlines literary and movie and real-life examples to make his point reach his audience in an effective way.
The author also explains about toxic relationships and how to avoid being in one and what one should do to come out of it to seek necessary help through psychotherapies and counselling sessions.
Other important factors pertaining to relationships and love and its side effects — physical, mental, psychological, and financial — are dealt with four interesting case studies that are relevant in this age of modern love, co-living, and extramarital affairs.
With less than 100 pages, the author touches upon broad spectrum of topics that is insightful and needs immediate attention.
This book is for all mature readers in or out of relationships, or even in the process of mending it.
Relationship is a complex and mysterious subject to understand. There are some relationships that we don't opt for since we are born into them, while others are a matter of choice. The most complicated relationship is that of a man and a woman, the strongest yet the most delicate, and needs efforts to sustain itself.
The author focused on the intricacies of this relationship and beautifully explained the psychological, chemical, and medical aspects of love. He has talked about the positive and negative sides of it giving insights into what we essentially gain or lose from it. The subject of relationships has been observed and explained by the author by exploring the theories and views of other authors and psychologists, and examples of movies. With logic and conclusive evidence, it has been explained why the reaction of pleasure isn't long-lasting and is followed by the opposite reaction.
Consummate love is the secret of happiness and it has three components - Intimacy, passion, and commitment, and this IPC triangle is not equilateral. The edges of this triangle might be different but it's the enclosed area that decides the quality of love. Each component of love has been discussed along with the problems arising due to disturbance in any of these components with possible solutions. The author has also discussed the importance and roles of compatibility, efforts, and communication in making a positive relationship last. The book includes four interesting case histories from Dr. Dev's clinic to give a very lucid understanding to the reader. Every story highlights different types of psychological problems along with a perfect analysis and solution. In the conclusion of the book, the author has discussed every major and minor situation where one should stand by their partner, and these stories make this part of the book well reasoned. The book also has some insights on what precautions one can take to protect and sustain a happy relationship and even how to identify a toxic one. Overall the author Dr. Govind Sharma sir deserves credit and appreciation for his thorough research on the topic and his ability to effectively put together this knowledge in such an interesting manner. This book is recommended to all couples to strengthen their bond and help them develop a better understanding.
Love is as intricate a word as it is delightful. Heartfelt love is a delightful secret, on the off chance that done right it can make your life a heaven and assuming it turns out badly, you go through a frightful encounter. For what reason do you generally get drawn to a particular sort of individual? For what reason do you feel the highs and lows when you are infatuated? What is the wellspring of the expanded energy and certainty when you are infatuated? Why love disappears? What is an ideal relationship? What are its fundamental components? How to recognize a harmful relationship and receive in return? Such countless inquiries! This little book addresses a considerable lot of these inquiries and significantly more. About Romantic Love by Dr. Govind Sharma is a genuine book investigating the idea of heartfelt love according to a mental perspective. While affection has been a point of convergence of verse and numerous made up stories, one seldom goes over a book that investigates the idea as a thing to be seen deductively by utilizing ideas of brain research. I observed this book exceptionally intriguing and clever. It additionally has genuine contextual analyses as sections which structure a significant piece of the book. Written in a straightforward language, the writer has abstained from utilizing an excessive number of specialized terms and has cited clinicians' and their works in wonderful sum any place vital. Be that as it may, I am somebody who might have truly loved it better assuming the contextual investigations were joined in sections instead of being parts themselves. I would have likewise preferred to peruse more about the logical and mental stuff. Assuming you are somebody who seldom peruses verifiable, this book could intrigue you as the idea it investigates is something which influences everybody and it brings a helpful hints and information to the table on same.
I received an ARC of the book for an honest review. All About Romantic Love rightfully calls itself a book about the concept of romantic love. It is more of a study in the psychology of relationships than a fictional book exploring the nuances of romantic bonding. It derives from Freud, Eric Berne, and Sternberg, all famous for their theories of psychology. Dr. Sharma stays put on the path he's chosen - to inform his readers of the complex psychology of relationships. He touches on the psychological effects of relationships that often go overlooked. "You may or may not like Freud, but you cannot ignore him," Dr. Sharma says about Sigmund Freud - the pioneer of Psychoanalysis. The statement stands true regarding this book too. There were times I silently shook my head in disagreement. Yet, I continued reading. Dr. Sharma does not hesitate in expressing himself even at the risk of being at odds with his readers. It is commendable in this day and age where people's tolerance for a different perspective is dwindling. Dr. Sharma tries his best to put forward different perspectives. He provides a plethora of situations, albeit with a heavy dosage of naivete. The stories from chapters 3 through 6 often appear biased despite the best effort to present a neutral standpoint. A reflection of the value judgments often passed by society shines through the words on the page. All About Romantic Love is not a replacement for the therapy you need to save your relationship. But for budding psychologists and anyone trying to gain a deeper understanding of the psychology of romance, this book is a fitting read. For anyone not looking for a read that also offers knowledge, the 4 short case studies are short stories that display Dr. Sharma's prowess at writing fiction. If you have read his other titles, the anecdotes included in this title will prove an interesting read.
Across ages people have striven for a written guide to the matters of the heart, while others have struggled to pen down their knowledge of the decidedly unknown workings of this organ. A similar approach has been taken by Dr. Govind Sharma, author of the book All About Romantic Love. In this work of nonfiction, Dr. Govind explores the psychology, the chemistry, and the biology of romantic relationships, helping the readers see this notion through his expert eyes. He treats the concept in a purely scientific manner that allows the readers to address the issue from a fresh perspective. After dedicating two chapters to theoretical explanation, he goes on to impart multiple case studies to display his theory in an easily perceptible way. These purely hypothetical modern studies of new age couples make the less tangible parts of the subject easier to understand. With insightful quotes such as, "The poet Rahim Das says you should not snap off the thread of love. It is very difficult to rejoin the parts of a broken thread; even if you manage to rejoin, there will be knots.", the author manages to drive the point of a good relationship home. The book advises to differentiate between the right and the wrong kind of partner, reminding readers gracefully, "You can give ten years of your life to an adorable fool but you should not waste a minute on a mean scoundrel." Despite the interesting examples, the book is seen lacking in creativity in certain aspects, especially in the structuring of case studies. With all the points in perspective, the book draws to a close, it's wisdom thrumming through the readers and leaving them with a refreshed outlook. Hence, in order to understand the intricate workings of the heart, we would suggest you grab a copy as soon as possible.
✍I'm back with another fantastic book. This book is entirely about relationships, human behaviour , love, and commitment. In this book, the author focuses on the psychology of relationships and he discusses various cases of people who have been in toxic relationships and how they have been negatively affected. The author emphasises the value of relationships, yet today's generation takes them for granted. They regard it as a joke, implying that those who sincerely love will suffer more than those who do not understand the significance of love.
✍In this book, he first discusses romantic love and then divides the case studies into various chapters. He begins by discussing the narrative of Nisha and Varun, and then on to relate a total of four stories. Ramesh and Sudha is, however, my particular favourite story. Ramesh does not recognise Sudha love in this narrative, but he does in the end, and they are blissfully married.
✍The author discusses the psychology of partnerships and offers some advice for maintaining a long and happy relationship. He cited some wonderful marriages also.
✍He made various recommendations for strong relationship connection, such as:
•Expressing inner thoughts •Providing emotional and financial assistance •Sharing possessions, time, and self
These suggestions should be kept in mind by those who are in a relationship and should continue to support one another.
✍I enjoy the topic because today's youth rarely strive to understand their partners' feelings. Some people get into relationships solely to satisfy their sexual desires, which is horrible. People should place a high emphasis on their partners. The author goes through every detail and offers advice to people who are in a relationship. Those who are in a relationship that isn't working should read it. It is quite beneficial to them.
'All About Romantic Love: A Three Sixty Degree View Of Relationships' by Dr. Govind Sharma is a book that truly gives us a 360 Degree View on relationships. Love is a beautiful feeling which makes a person a completely different person from what he/she previously was. A person is ready to make all the sacrifices and willing to go to extreme ends for Love only. But what if the other person doesn't share the same feeling or what if we fall in love with a wrong person? Love is a pure feeling but what if the other person deceives? To know exactly what is love and what is it to fall in love and to know more about Relationships read 'All About Romantic Love: A Three Sixty Degree View of Relationships'.
My Views:
I must say as always the author has done extensive research and tried to give the readers a scientific outlook on the topic. The psychology of people who fall in love and how things change and why people react to a certain situation in a particular way is nicely explained. The short stories are perfect examples to give us an in-depth view on relationships.
Characters are realistic and they nicely depict real life people who we might have encountered sometime in our life. The psychology of a person who has fallen in love and also of those who are heartbroken and the decisions they take are shown nicely through these characters.
The narration is nicely done. Language is simple and lucid and author has described various psychologist and their view on the different psychological factors. Book cover is beautiful and apt to the book. Title of the book is also apt to the overall theme of the book.
Overall, I really liked reading this book and would surely recommend it to others.
'All About Romantic Love' is not a collection of romantic and mushy love stories, but it actually delves deeper into the roots of what shapes a relationship and what should be the essence of every relationship. Every thing about a relationship seems cute and beautiful at the beginning but as the two individuals starts to spend more time together new questions starts to pop up about how much secrets should they let out about themselves or what should be the borderline of interference in their relationship. Sometimes an overpowering or possessive partner could be the reason of a failed relationship, and even though there is love the compatibility starts to fade away and eventually two people drifts apart. This book has 7 chapters where 4 of the chapters consist of case study of different relationships. The other 3 chapters are in general about what a romantic love and where are we heading to while finding in details about romantic relationships. The four case studies that are mentioned in this book talks about relationships that have faced multi layer difficulties, but finally settled with contently with their loved one.
The overall idea of this book is a good of sign of hope for anyone having problem in their relationship. They can seat together with their partner and resolve all the disputes or can seek help of a counselor. Apart from it the language used in this book is quite simple so anyone can easily understand them by going through the pages of this book. Also, it's a very short read of 89 pages only.
I like reading this book as it turned out to be an unique read for me, but felt the narration of the author could have been better as at some point the book felt less compelling and blunt.
This book is a non-fiction masterpiece about the psychology of human relationships. It's a paragon of it's kind, indeed. Beginning with first two insightful and eye-opening chapters, the author has presented four professional and pragmatic case studies which is something that makes this book an expedient creation.
Quoting famous psychologists like Robert J Sternberg, Freud, Berne and so on, shows meticulous research on part of the author and hence efficacy of the text.
The way the author has tried his utmost to make the reader's understand about the concept of love on the basis of the 'IPC' triangle which basically means Intimacy, Passion and Commitment that these three are the part and partial of a true relationship and romantic love.
The author has tossed every coin of love very well. He has taken us through the past or the golden era of love some few decades ago or so as well. All the more, the readers especially the beginners will find themselves fully prepared to step into the World of relationships and love after finishing this thought provoking piece.
Several writers have been seen taking refuge in case-studies to prove their points but very few got succeeded in making the readers understand their points. And proudly, the author has mastered this art.
He has picked up mere raw informations about four messy relationships and turned the same into four real and beautiful short-stories. His work has shown how storytelling an stupendous art.
The language of the book is quite legible and lucid to understand. You will be hooked till the very end, it's guaranteed.
It's a must must read for everyone out there who doesn't know even the abc... about love and relationships and for those as well who consider themselves as Pro in this field but got the worst of the tastes...🤭
Read many books on romance genre but didn't get to know the other side of the love that is the psychological side. This book not only shares what is to be in love, but also four case study that will surely open your eyes to what actually goes wrong which leads to divorce and separation in marriages especially love marriages. We all know marriage is an important part of our life, a male and a female need to live together after getting married, but what if the love that was to be blossomed ends up doing separation, we all will think what actually got wronged in this. Looking to this situation author has narrated four case studies of four different couples, which is indeed interesting. First chapter covers throeries about love, lust, teengae love, attraction, what all was thought about a male and female relation in early times and how it has changed now. Talking about how arranged marriages work more smoothly then love marriages. Next comes the case study. 1.Case study of Nisha And Varun: shows how emotions can be played to use a person for her own use. How Varun was played because of her emotions and how Nisha used her two times for her comfort only. Basically after reading this case, it has become normal nowadays to use people for your comfort. The next three case studies were also interesting and worth reading. Coming to the cover and the title of the book: First I thought it was a love story but as I read it became interesting and yes worth reading too. Both are beautiful and unique in its own way.
Narration: Fast paced written in friendly language. Finished in two sitting only.
Overall a different read for me on romance genre. Worth reading Recommended!
The book revolves around the concept of love. This book is a blend of human psychology with the aspects of love. The book begins with the first two chapters which include- scientific ideas, theories of many psychologists, Freudian theory of love and psychology etc. The chapters ahead include short stories relating to love and the essence of being in a relationship. The stories are quite relatable as we all have witnessed such stories around us. In today's era where people value materialistic things more than human relationships, this book gives you a reality check and helps you grow yourself for the better. The book also helps in understanding various elements that are needed to maintain a healthy- romantic relationship and to analyse a relationship and the challenges that come with it. The psychological facts and theories presented by the writer are what makes this book a fascinating read. This book can come out as an insightful read for many as it helps you learn to love the ordinary and build a relationship on the strong foundation of commitment, faithfulness, honesty and togetherness. The language of the book is easy to understand and the writer has simplified the concept and the theories which make the book an interesting read. The writer has brilliantly put together, into words, the elements needed for a romantic relationship. This book is a must-read, irrelevant of your relationship status as it also helps you understand the value of human relationships and also helps in self- introspection.
A three sixty view of relationships that can give you ecstatic pleasure but can also ruin you. This is the message that author Dr Govind Sharma is trying to convey through his book “All about romantic love”.
The 4 elaborated case studies where one partner is madly in love with his wife that he starts to doubt on her when she goes out to work. In another case a women who is so madly in love with his college friend and has dedicated her life to him financially and emotionally. Then there is a women who intentionally uses a man financially and emotionally firstly to help his father and then to get back to her dying marriage.lastly a women who is extremely possessive about a man that she can go to any extend to gain his love that she can even be harmful at one point of time.
All these stories were studied deeply and then concluded. The so called vulnerable and love deprived victims were counselled to move on in their life and were further guided about the distinction between an immature behaviour and a manipulative behaviour.
Author has also talked about psychoanalysis, which is a tool that can help unravel the thoughts and feelings stored in the subconscious and unconscious mind.
A beautiful message by author- “you need to make serious efforts to understand your partner and what can make them feel happy and secure because it is only a happy and secure partner who is capable of loving you back.”
All About Romantic Love by Dr Govind Sharma is a case study on the psychological side of Romantic Love; a topic that is rarely spoken of because as is assumed, all is fair in love and war. The book delves into unravelling all the facets of romance, from understanding your partner to the concept of how there is no one type of love between couples. This is exemplified by the case studies of four couples seeking couples therapy at a clinic. People believe that once they fall in love and have each other, things will undoubtedly work out. However, as is with all things, love is a project. It needs to be worked on constantly and consistently. There are repairs to be made, and holes to be fixed, and in the end, it is the upkeep maintained by each party that decides the outcome of the relationship.
The author has raised a brilliant topic and explained it in many words, citing fictional examples of what problems one might face in a relationship. These may or may not relate to readers, but one can learn, not just about romantic relationships, but also about working with all relationships in general. There is a higher degree of intimacy between couples, and that might raise problems, from one partner's habits to the other's expectations. To heal one's relationship or to keep the degree of intimacy alive, one can refer to the examples in the book and see if the situation applies to their own, thus gaining some insight into their future course of action.
Reading the book certainly brought a few things into perspective from my own experiences. Thus I recommend the book to anyone who has a tough time being in a relationship, or to someone who wants to be in one.
All about Romantic Love. One more Beautiful book by DR.Govind Sharma(IAS RETD). As it name indicate the book is about love life and relationship. Govind Sharma has done good research and put in one book about how to make relationships stronger with all odds. Personally, I learned many things about relationships that I am going to keep in mind. And you will find 4 short stories about love life. Deeply discussed their problem and given perfect solution for them by Dr. Dev. It is Help full those who are desperate. He convinced us very well to our mind that building a true friendship with your spouse and understanding that you truly are a team is very important for a long-lasting happy relationship. I would recommend this book to everyone especially those in or seeking Relationships (everyone). This book was not only insightful, transparent but also a great relatable book.
Summary: Based on what has been said by the greatest psychologists of our time, this book tells the reader what is the concept of romantic love and how to be in a relationship without getting hurt. It is about how to further strengthen a healthy relationship and how to get out of a toxic relationship. The choice that life offers is whether one wants ten superficial, meaningless relationships, or one great relationship that lasts a lifetime.
My Opinion: A must try guide for all the couples, it's just so perfect from all angles. A hot - pot short book which advices, helps out and supports, all three at once that too in just 90 pages. Very nicely executed.

‘All about romantic love' written by Dr. Govind Sharma gives us a three sixty degree view of relationships. This book presents the psychological perspective of romantic relationships that the author has explained well using Freudian theory and theories of many other psychologists. Then the book has some stories showing examples of toxic relationships as well as successful and love-rich relationships. So basically the book covers psychological theories on love, 4 case studies, what leads to separation in a relation, how to come out of a toxic relationship. There are a number of beautiful quotations in the book. Mine favourite is- “You can give ten years of your life to an adorable fool, but you should not waste a minute on a mean scoundrel.” Reading this book was really a different experience as compared to other books of romance genre😊. I got to know the psychological side of love. It’s a short read consisting 110 pages only but has many valuable lessons to learn. Apart from that, author’s writing style is so compelling that I was unable to put the book down.❣️ Now I’m looking forward to read Dr. Govind Sharma’s ‘The Dev Anand Story’.😁 Highly recommended! Book:- All About Romantic Love Author:- Dr. Govind Sharma Format:- Paper'back Ratings:- 5/5
I can't resist myself from rating this book 5 upon 5. This book is one of the best I have ever read! The writing style, the plot and the storyline all add up to the perfection.
The book is basically a romantic fiction depicting romance and love. The author had presented a three-sixty degree view of relationship in a lucid manner.
People are merely attracted towards opposite sex. Sometimes this attraction is true love while other times it is just a short-lived feelings. What happens when we feel attracted towards other? Why do we actually feel attached to some soul? All these are portrayed via the storyline.
The book is divided into 4 fictionalized case studies in a brief yet impressive manner. The author needs to be appreciated for establishing the perfect connection within the various aspects of information. Every line in the book has some crucial element which will be a guide to maintain a healthy relationship.
'All About Romantic Love' is pretty much different from the other creations of the author. This can surely act as a guide to mental health. The narration in the book has demonstrated the effect of love and suffering due to the same because of one's ignorance about understanding and acknowledging his own feelings. The case studies are precise and aptly conveys what it intends to. Each and every reader can surely relate the stories to their own experiences and their surroundings. The book has depicted human psychology with everyday events and examples. The root cause analysis could have been a little more detailed . The best part is the simplicity of the language and style of narration. I took a while to start this book, but I am glad that I read it. You don't have to be a particular genre lover to pick this book, anyone can pick this book and start reading it. It will not take weeks for the readers to complete this book, it's a fast read and gives one a sense of satisfaction as the reader sees the everyday events of his life in this book.
