My name's Heidi Rice, I'm a USA Today Bestselling author. I'm married with two sons (which gives me rather too much of an insight into the male psyche!).

I love my job because it involves sitting down at my computer and getting swept up in a world of high emotions, sensual excitement, funny feisty women, sexy tortured men and glamourous locations where laundry doesn't exist ...

I also tutor a 14-week in-depth online Write a Romance Novel course. So, if you have ever wanted to learn how to write romance from a bestselling author, check it out here: www.profwritingacademy.com/course/wri...

Now I believe wholeheartedly that readers should give honest and open reviews on Goodreads and Amazon and elsewhere. If you didn't like a book you are entitled to say so (even if it's mine! ouch). But you may notice that none of my book reviews are less than four-stars. That's simply because as an author myself I know how pathetically sensitive I am about bad reviews and with that in mind I prefer to spread the love among other authors — and don't do public reviews of books I didn't like. Just thought I'd clarify that!

All the Petticoat Junction girls and their little dog too, rush to ogle at the splendiferous sexiness of Heidi Rice's hunky Irish H, Connal O' Riordan. It's no secret, among my close friends, that I have a special fondness for sexy Irish heroes, so it's wonderful to see one of them unleash his potent charm, on the unsuspecting heroine.

This is the H, Connal:

This is the first in a duet that deals with siblings, who find love with another pair of siblings.

In this first novel, Connal has uncovered the identity of the rich jerk who impregnated his 19 year old sister and dumped her, 5 years ago. The H seeks to uncover more information about the guy, by luring the dude's half sister (the heroine, Katherine) to work for him, in her capacity as an event planner.

What starts off as a covert fact finding mission, evolves gradually into a slow burn romance when the H gives into temptation after everything else fails...

At one point, Connal even toys with the idea of revenge by proxy.

But that plan dies a quick death, when he gets to know the heroine and realizes that she's not built from the same hateful mould as her half brother. At the same time, however, he's transfixed by the heroine's unknowing allure and frustrated by his inability to neutralize it.

This is the heroine, Katherine:

For her part, Katherine is also baffled by the effect the sexy Irishman has on her senses. She's a widow, whose terminally ill husband had been unable to consummate their vows and even though she knows that it was just friendship that tied them together, she's been unable to move on after his death.

The H is the first man who makes her feel stuff that she's never experienced before - not even with her dead husband. She's simultaneously awed, angered and exasperated by the complicated H, who sends out mixed signals. His words say one thing but his eyes and body tell the opposite story.

She doesn't even know that she's there under false pretenses but she's not deaf to the helpful words she receives from his youngest sister, Imelda.

But despite all his jerkhole grumpysexiness, Connal has a huge heart, and he lives by a special code of honour, passed down to him from his beloved late father. His outward aloof persona is just a defence mechanism and Katherine soon learns that he's a much more loving brother, to his 2 sisters, than her own brother has been to her.

When avoidance and assholery fail, Connal gives up the fight and invites Katherine to attend a ball as his date, in Paris. He offers a no strings romantic interlude and she, much to her own surprise, accepts.

Their passionate Paris interlude is a revelation to both MC's. It's the start of a brand new relationship, that begins with motorcycle riding and sightseeing, culminates with hot sex and is then capped off with a surprise marriage proposal.

The heroine's in love and the H, despite his aversion to the *L* word, is content and happy for the first time in his adult life. The MC's are so attuned to each other that they even engage in sexy bouts of phone sex when they're apart.

It takes the untimely return of Katherine's half brother Ross, to create that ominous black moment, when the heroine is hit with a shitload of harsh truths and secrets. The H wins her back after some humble apologies and grovelling. But, there's no extended future epilogue, probably due to the fact that their respective siblings' second chance story is supposed to begin at/after Connal's and Katherine's wedding.

I'm totally stoked and looking forward to that novel: The Ceo's Impossible Heir.

Safety: No OW, no OM and both MC's are celibate during their very short separation. Although the heroine had been married before, to her terminally ill best friend, it was a platonic marriage. The H is not in any way depicted as a second best to her dead first husband.

NB: I decided to use a classic TV series theme and old school rock n roll, when I was sorting through gifs to write this review.

Liked both MC.

Well developed.

The story line was somewhat of a revenge plot but wasn't played to heavy. The heroines brother was who the hero wanted to get back at and was using the heroine.

A enjoyable read.

4 Stars!

What's not to love! Heidi delivers the classic tortured, brooding alpha male in Connall and the sunny, optimistic, inexperienced heroine in Katie. Both were likeable in their own ways, and the chemistry between them was palpable from their first meeting.

There was something about Connall O'Riordan that unnerved her...

This is book one in the Secrets of Billionaire Siblings series, and with the revelations in this one, I am interested to see how the next book plays out. It'll be good to see more of Connall and Katie as secondary characters as well.

Beneath the veneer of control was a man of fierce passions, especially where his family was concerned...

While reading the book: this is really, really good. I'm thoroughly enjoying this story, and how Conall will soon see Katie for who she really is. But wow... there's a lot of wish fulfilment: travelling around to high-class locations by privileged means, snaring the attention of a very hot man, .

Get to the end:

I think, the book deserves a high rating for its high wish fulfilment stakes, and at least the first half of the book. Once they did the "deed", the angst flattened out a bit, until the final chapter, and then boom! All done.

I'm rambling. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it was an entertaining read, and I enjoyed it right until the H suddenly proposed marriage, and it just suddenly ended.

I received this ARC from the author/Publisher in return for an honest review,

Heidi Rice is one of my favourite Mills and Boon/Harlequin writers. I don’t think she’s written anything that I haven’t enjoyed. What is so fabulous is that she creates different stories and different characters in every book. This is such a fantastic contrast to other authors who simply regurgitate the same characters and tropes in their books. Heidi manages to create a new, sympathetic hero and heroine in each of her stories. I loved this one with its touches of fantasy escapism. I mean, 150,000 Euros for a dress! Having seen the Hotel Crillon in Paris, it was great to see it re-imagined in this book. Once I win the lottery, I’ll be staying there!

This one introduces an Irish hero Connall and gives us a romantic Irish castle setting for the first part of the story. Connall has brought up his sisters after their parents died and has also managed to become a billionaire businessman through his own hard work. Katherine is a virgin widow (don’t ask), who recognises her attraction to Connall from the moment they meet. An event planner trying hard to make her business successful, she has no idea Con has picked her our because of her half brother and his relationship to his sister’s child. Uncertain and lacking in confidence because of her father’s rejection, she falls for Connall and he falls for her without realising it is love.

This really is a touching and emotionally satisfying story. I know the story about her brother and Connall’s sister is to follow soon, so I understand the lack of an epilogue but I was really disappointed not to have one. A beautifully rewarding read.

The Billionaire's Proposition in Paris is a wonderfully enjoyable story with all of the traditional trappings Heidi Rice is loved for.

Blown away by a once in a lifetime opportunity, event-planner Katherine jumps at the opportunity to arrange a secret wedding for Connal O'Riordan's little sister. Even the prospect of being expected to answer her phone 24/7 doesn't put Katie off. Doors will open for Katie's fledgling business.

Connal's two little sister's are his world and he's livid his other sister and baby had been abandoned. Investigations reveal the father is Katherine's step brother, Ross. Connal's plan to bring Katherine into his world to learn more about Ross and plot some nice revenge soon falls apart. Unexpectedly the beautifully spirited Katherine warms his cold heart right up. Connal is a fabulously grumpy Irish hero. He's abrupt and prickly. Katherine is delightful and well loved by all of Connal's family and staff, much to his annoyance. She unintentionally melts his reserve and after the most majestic ball they decide to act on their mutual attraction.

I love Heidi Rice's stories. They are guaranteed to have beautiful locations, the characters have amazing chemistry, the banter is enjoyable and there's brilliantly timed humour dotted through out. Connal and Katherine's interactions are off the charts and watching them fall in love in Paris is lovely. Of course it's not a Presents if everything went swimmingly.

The Billionaire's Proposition in Paris is the first of a duet and I can't wait to see how the author manages to redeem Ross in Book 2 because he sure pushed my buttons! A very enjoyable vengence theme which is light on intensity and heavy on good feelings with all the hallmarks of a great Presents.

This is the story of Katherine (owner of an up & coming Events Management Company) and Conall (Agricultural-tech Billionaire) and it is quite the ride. They both have complicated and tragic family back stories which reach into the present with some crucial plot lines that linger and play a key part in the emotional resolutions which need to happen alongside characters who remain in sight, if only tangentially. The plot is complex and involves a wedding that may or may not happen; whirlwind foreign trips and LOTS of hidden intentions and anguish that remain in play until the final threads are settled as part of the HEA.

This felt like a return to the types of books which I read from this imprint (or a precursor of it) in the 1990s: high glamour, international, inscrutable hero with no demonstrable emotional intelligence; a slightly weak heroine who latterly finds a backbone and impossible riches (then it was millionaires not billionaires) which are all tied up in a swift ending. I suspect these type of plot lines are once more becoming popular in this imprint. Cards on the table though: not with me. Therefore, this book started at a disadvantage with me, it is not my kind of romance, and this accounts for my so-so rating despite my long-standing liking of work by the author.

I did not particularly warm to Conall as a hero or Katherine as a heroine, they were both too typecast for me; he was tortured, impenetrable and non-communicative and she was too meek and well behaved. The ending had to come together very quickly and so was too pat for me – given the scale of the hang-ups and baggage they had to deal with. For the first quarter to one third or so of the book, the characters were barely together and lots of the emotions and personal stories were the internal monologues of each of them. This was quite interesting, but overall added to my sense of a couple whose emotional story I was not engaged in.

Despite its bad fit to me, the book has some features I really appreciated and enjoyed. Conall has a close relationship with his sisters which feels realistic; there were flourishes of ‘Irishisms’ and a lovely focus is shown on the beauty of Paris.

This is not a bad book, despite its bad fit for me, it passed a pleasant afternoon. If a packed and pacey written storyline with glamour and traditional characters is for you, give it a go.

I received an advance copy of this book from the author, in return for an honest review.

I love a good billionaire romance and this was great!
Katherine may not have been worldly and a bit naive, but she had a backbone to go with her big heart. When she meets Conall, the gamut of emotions hits her hard, but he's her client and so out of her league, she tries to ignore the pull. Very hard to do when Con feels a very unwanted attraction to her as well, and he hadn't anticipated that at all. He's not into love and all the trappings, or so he thought.
A well written journey for these two I happily followed along with the ups and downs, the heat, the humor, and the reveal of how these two became the individuals they are. That they talked openly for the most part was refreshing to me, except for a few tee tiny secrets--that exploded tremendously.
The HEA was very sweet, a bit cut off or short for me, but then this is a duo, and I know there's more goodness to come when Con's sister comes face to face with Katherine's half-brother .... again.
I received a copy from the author, and am voluntarily giving my honest thoughts and opinions.

A very good start

This is the 1st book in the series and it was very good. The H hired the h to plan event for him, it actually was for revenge. The h’s brother had gotten the H’s sister pregnant and abandoned her and his child. The H discovers that the h was a very good, beautiful, sweet and kind person who had suffered from her childhood. The H had his own childhood issues. My complaint is that book just ended with no ending or resolution between the H and brother. The ending felt rushed and incomplete. I hope the 2nd book provides more information.

I know this one gets lots of love and it's fine, but just 2.5 stars from me, I think because I dislike the "successful woman being professional but behaving like Mr Bean in front of the H" thing that I've come across recently and that's how this one starts.
I did like the dastardly plot of the H, Conall, which is gradually revealed. He wants revenge on Katherine's half-brother for impregnating and abandoning his sister and plans to use Katherine for information to further his plans, while pretending she's planning a wedding for his other sister at his beautiful converted castle in Ireland.
Needless to say, the chemistry between the two overwhelms them both. Katherine gets the Cinderella treatment with a 150,000 Euro frock and a magical tour of Paris by motorbike. The H realises that she doesn't have much to do with her brother and didn't have the privileged upbringing he thought. They start a relationship and the H offers marriage. But then the truth comes out and Katherine realises he's been using her. She runs off, but before you know it, she's back at the castle and he's proclaiming his regret and undying love. Cue the next in the series, when that naughty brother of Katherine's gets his story in The CEO's Impossible Heir

Ši knyga – lengva ir visiškai neapkraunanti. Tokias istorijas vadinu TV8 vakaro filmais – romantiška, jauki ir su laiminga pabaiga. ✨
Kadangi knyga nėra stora, ji skaitosi greitai. Visgi man pritrūko detalių – mėgstu ryškius veikėjų portretus, kad galėčiau juos aiškiai įsivaizduoti.
