Paedophiles. Thugs. Wife beaters. Murderers. Amelia Strange wants to send them all to Hell. She has the means, too. According to her accountant, she has all the money. All of it. She owns the prestigious yet private, Hellingate House, and the estate it lies within. And she has Vic. A demon born from the burning fires, who shares her passion for vengeance.
And Vic takes his work very seriously.
Strange Souls is a novella about a human and a demon who carve their way through those deserving in the most disgusting of ways. It contains scenes of putrid, visceral violence, strange kinks, murder, and ‘innard stirring’.
Consider this a trigger warning for just about everything.
3.5 stars. I loved this concept. Vic and Amelia, our leads, targeting pedophiles, abusers, and all other unsavory types was great. Vic, being a demon, was loads of fun. And he was also packing quite an unholy-sized member, which he was more than happy to use. Amelia was just a woman trying to hurt other people to find some sort of peace with the bad things that happened to her. So she had a lot of good dynamics with her character. And, again, together, this was Did he lay down? quite a duo. The story is just about 100 pages and the only fault I can find here is that we didn’t get enough time with Vic and Amelia. Much like their characters, I just wanted more. However, we did get plenty of development on each of the victims, which was a nice change of pace. Usually with similar concepts, the victims are no more than just part of a body count. No personality or purpose other than to die. So that was another big plus. Aside from its brevity, this was a very good outing from Ash Ericmore.
This book certainly moved at a very fast pace with plenty of gruesome and painful killings going on which added loads of gore to the story...but there wasn't enough of it...it needed to be so much longer! AND...hold on...what was that ending all about??? OMG!! it just left me hanging there...screaming...NO NO NO...come on please don't finish there...half way between Amelia explaining to Vic "The Demon" a bloody good scenario that they were about to check out. I'm afraid I had to drop 1 star from my rating...just because of that ending...it disappointed me and left a good story dangling in mid-air. 4😤😤😤😤 frustrating ⭐⭐⭐⭐'s
I absolutely loved this one. I love when Ash brings a little hell fire to a story. This one was vengeance server in the most violent of ways to a few of the lowest a* holds the world has to offer. What's not to love.
My only disappointment with this read is that I wanted more and for it not to end. I was that engrossed that from the start I was that invested into the words that when I turned the last page I was gutted it ended. Thoroughly enjoyed Vic in the story he was a great twist and added another dimension to the whole read. It was filled with blood and gore with a nice amount of lust added in. A exciting fascinating read that keeps you entertained throughout. Definitely recommended!
Amelia and Vic are an unlikely duo, what with one being a literal demon. But what they share in common is a strong taste for killing and a fetish for torture. Their motive? To send all the lowlife abusers, pedophiles and otherwise scum of the earth people to hell. And they’ll make sure it’s slow and painful.
This was such a fun concept and the dynamic between Amelia and Vic was brilliant. However, there just wasn’t enough of it. Just as we were starting to see them both truly in action, the 100 page novella was over.
This wasn’t by any means a bad book, but it also wasn’t anything extraordinary. I feel slightly unfair giving it 2 stars but there were a LOT of spelling and grammar mistakes, which I find hard to look past when it comes to giving a rating as it brought me away from the story at times. The writing style was also severely below average to the point where it felt like it was just super lazy at times.
Despite that, this was a fun, fast paced splatterpunk filled with a lot of violence, gore and a demon with a giant d*ck, so it’s probably worth a read anyway.
Sick, twisted, depraved and brutal: I LOVED it! I've read about a dozen Ash Ericmore books now and this one is absolutely my new favourite. It had humour in it that actually made me laugh out loud more than once and the "victims" torture-deaths are extremely satisfying because they are so disgusting and monstrous in their actions. Highly recommend this novella to any fans of extreme horror.
“Murdering the guilty doesn’t make a difference to you.”
Amelia Strange is on the move again, and she's the mercenary the innocents of the world always needed. She mercilessly tracks and captures the worst of the offenders in the world; the pedophiles and abusers and forces them to pay for their sins in every worst way. She inherited her gorgeous home from the family after her father's passing, and all the money she could've ever needed. However, she's also sharing her home with Vic; a notoriously horny and violent demon she brought into the world. He's along for the ride to help her bring these fucked up souls to Hell early. It wouldn't be until Dave Collins entered her life that her desire for revenge would meet this ultimate high. Going after him alone, she learned he killed his wife and horrifically beats his son for being gay. Seducing him out at the Pub was the easy part, killing him in his bed afterwards was the fun part. She never expected his close friend Trucker to tackle her and try to kill her out of revenge. After being injured herself, his 17 year old son Damon calls the police and blames the death on Trucker, who at some point after her leaving kills the boy and is now on trial for the deaths. That wasn't good enough, and she uses Vic and his ability to take any human form to lull him back to her. It worked and together they tormented and murdered him before finding comfort in one another after the killings.
There is a look in the eyes of someone who has lost someone close to them. It’s a fire—a spark—that appears every time their name comes up in conversation. It is the look of unsurpassed happiness as that memory, the face, the love … it’s just there, for that second, as the memory of them overtakes the sadness of the loss. Then the sadness returns as the memory of death does. And the spark dies again, like it did when they found out the person was dead the first time. It’s how you know if someone was truly touched by another. They die a little, with every happy memory.
Awesome story by Ash Ericmore with two exceptions. One, it's too short and two, there's no sequel. I loved the characters, Amelia and Vic but I'd love to know more about them. It's hinted at in the story about what happened in Amelia's past to drive her to what she does and I want to know how Vic became to be there. Apart from that it's Ash at his black humorous best. 10/10
If you need help it is nice to be friends with the devil. This is a read of death and destroying bad people. One woman and the devil working together. Be ready to be on the edge of your seat. Very good read.
