To be upfront and honest, I received an advance copy of this book but gave no guarantee of leaving a review. However, I couldn't avoid leaving comments as this is THE BEST coastal book I've ever read, and I've read a TON of them! If you only read one book this year, THIS is the one you should choose.

Harvey gives the reader EXACTLY the right amount of details needed to enjoy and understand the story. Nothing is worse than an author cramming useless details down a reader's throat until you're totally bored and ready to scream, "Enough already!" Unless of course it's a LACK of detail that sends you away wondering, "How or why did that event happen?" In Stolen Sommer, you never realize that you're taking in necessary points until well after their purpose is revealed. THAT is the mark of an extremely skilled writer, and with this book, Nicholas Harvey has come into his own.

Harvey's characters are totally believable, and often times make you want to sit and have a beer (or glass of wine) with them. And at a couple of points in the book I found myself literally holding my breath, not something that I do often while reading. Yes, it is THAT good.

So, do yourself a favor and buy this book. Enjoy it in your favorite chair, at the beach, or next to the pool. But no matter where you read it, you are certain to enjoy it. Like the guy who sells coats from that "warehouse" on TV says, "I guarantee it!"

I was impressed with the first in the series, primarily due to the underwater scenes in the Caymans, one of my favorite dive sites and found the character to be interesting. Disappointed in this, the second in the series, since the water scenes are few and her tendency to go off the reservation is a bit too pronounced. Also not a big fan of books that end with a big cliffhanger - "come back in the next book and see who else did what to whom". Fine if you let the reader know it is "almost" a stand alone, but not a happy wind-up. Also troubling to see that faith in the system failed her as this island justice system is portrayed as fairly reasonable and the characters in the supervisory chain seem less obstructionist than is usual for the "solo" crusading crime fighter. Guess I will read #3 as it is on the TBR shelf but will probably pass on any new ones.

Thrilling, with a few nice twists. The characters, especially our lead heroine, really propels the story forward with each page. I am so looking forward to more stories with Nora featured. Keep these coming!

Near Perfect. Excellent Characters.

4.5 out of 5 stars

I love reading books close to each other in a series – though with a series like the Nora Sommer series – it’s not as important. Things aren’t super linear and each story has a nice little arc that has a good ending. But I still like learning about a character and then finding more about them in the next book. I finished Deadly Sommer not too long ago and really freaking enjoyed it. It was the first solo book I read from Harvey but not my first book of his.

I think that Harvey really turned it up to eleven in Stolen Sommer. The way that he made it personal but also made it so much more just really took this from a good story set in a beautiful location to an unforgettable one. As always, the characters jump off of the pages and really stand out – and the situations that Harvey throws them in make it even more interesting. As I said above, add in the location and it’s near perfect. Harvey really is starting to arise as one of my favorite authors and I think that a lot of people are still sleeping on these audiobooks. They’re so much fun to listen to… and even though it’s finally “nice” here in Western New York – it’s not as beautiful or nice as the location of these books.

Kim Bretton does a great job in Stolen Sommer. Her performance is exactly what a book like this needs to make it even better.

Stolen Sommer - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

Book 2 of Nicholas Harvey's Nora Sommer Caribbean Suspense series is Stolen Sommer.

A missing girl, a man who's not whom he seems, and a burglary victim with links to Nora's past, (that she'd prefer to leave behind her).
What's Randall Cosgrove's potential connection to Marissa Chandler? Is history being repeated?
The main suspect in the sex trafficking ring is the elusive so-called Haitian, but now he's dead, the trail is wearing very thin...and someone unsuspected may have fooled Nora...for now.

There's never a dull moment and satisfaction is guaranteed, in each and every one of Nicholas Harvey's novels.
Get Stolen Sommer and enjoy a wild rollercoaster ride all the way through to adventure with Nora!

I first read about Nora Sommer in an A. J. Bailey book. I then read Nora Sommer 0.5, Finding Sommer, but somehow I skipped the first volume in Nora Sommer Caribbean Suspense series. So, now I have to go back and read it. Nora Sommer is an interesting character, and Nicholas Harvey does good in giving her enough virtues and flaws, to keep you on your toes as to the direction she is going to go. I plan on reading more of the Nora Sommer, and A. J. Bailey, books, They are interesting and entertaining; and having been to Grand Cayman, one time, have a somewhat familiar feel.

I had all the Nora Sommer books with me on a long overseas trip and finished them in three weeks. Absolutely superb mystery suspense stories with a main character, Nora, who is not a perfect person. Having survived sex trafficking and the murder of a close friend, her moral compass is definitley in an unforgiving mode... but she tries. I am so happy to read these fast paced well constructed stories set in beautiful Grand Cayman.

Well I’m officially addicted.

This series is so dang good. Eventually I’ll have to go back to his other series. It’s quite interesting and unique to see how this author weaves this series. I have never been to this island but I have been to Jamaica over 15 times. And while I only stay on resort, this knowledge really helps my imagination go wild.

I am a huge fan of Nora. I’m diving right into book 3.

Another cracking good read

I just love the characters, the prose and the story lines, full of action and packed with adventure.

What is not to like.

I am also reading the AJ Bailey books and cannot wait for the cross over.Ray

I recommend these books to everyone male or female. They are awesome but, be prepared to put your life on hold when you start reading them.

This book disappointed me with this book. First, the main character, a cop, committed cold blooded murder and got away with it. Next we were left with unanswered questions and loose ends at the "conclusion." In fact, it didn't really end! Instead, the author left us hanging about a few things, to be found out in the next book.

This book starts out at a dead run and does not stop. It’s a roller coaster ride of twists and turns that keep you guessing. The story is very well written and portrayed with a lot of honesty!!! It really made me think about a lot of things! I can’t wait to read the next book!!

Another hit!

Read the first 2 books in 24 hours. A new favorite author and character, Nora. These stories move quickly and don't have any downtime. They clip right along, fast paced and interesting. Waiting on #3!

I love the series. I’m hesitant to give that 5th star as while finishing the book, it just stopped. I was waiting for the final windup and it just stopped. Maybe I missed something or maybe it
wraps up in the next book. But it shouldn’t do that. Hmmmmm

great story

I am impressed not only with the fairly accurate telling of how police work, but with the main character Nora. Her fortitude reminds me of myself long ago. Can’t wait for the next one!

excellent

Nora investigates a sex trafficking ring. This is a good story, well written, lots of twists, very entertaining. We learn a little more about Nora, but just a little. She is a complex character. Hard to believe she is so young.

Good and Evil

Nora is confronted with her past. She also needs to learn how to play by the rules. Two cases that seem unrelated are taking her down a "rabbit" hole, which will affect her future

Wow …

Dark, suspenseful, with a surprising twist I did not see coming. Nora’s dark side is what makes this an intriguing series.

This is the second book in this series I have read and it is terrific. Nora Sommer, is a former victim of underage sexual abuse. She is now a police woman in the Caribbean. When a 14 year old girl disappears, Nora suspects a new gang is using underage girls and breaks a few rules to uncover the truth.

The author had a potentially charming clever character, but he ruined her by making her a criminal.
