Necronomicon Spellbook

Rate this book
The mighty powers invoked by this eldritch tome are really long-forgotten psychic abilities, able to affect the most basic needs and desires, including Love, Wealth, Peace of Mind, and Protection Agains Enemies. But now comes a guide that enables anyone to pick up the book and use its ineluctable power "without fear or risk" according to editor Simon.

This is a short fast read for anyone interested. The book starts off with a bit of history as to how the book " Necronomicon " came to the surface and some of its printing history.

After a brief history the book tells the reader the steps in creating a Necronomicon spell. There are about seven steps and they are readily easy to understand instructions.

The next section of the book covers the fifty names of Marduk and for what purpose those names should be invoked. Included are sigils and explanations.

The final part of the book says that it is ok to be skeptical, just work a few spells and record your results. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. The spells are supposed to be safe and you do not have to believe in Sumerian religion to do this magic as this magic gave birth to the Sumerian religion. Give it a try . It can't hurt.

My middle of the road appreciation of this book is based solely in my love for symbolism. I would not suggest this book to anyone with a serious interest in ritual magic or spells.

My boyfriend gifted this book to me last year, though he's a spiritual Christian and doesn't want to risk doing a spell with me<3
He doesn't want to accidentally 'release' something, awe.
I guess I'll just have to find someone else to experiment with, because each of these spells is unique and very interesting, and each one looks fun.

Simplistic comes to mind when one looks it over, but if you want to work with the 50 names of Marduk doesn't get much better than this.

Two things color the review I'm about to give. 1.) I believe in magic and that it can be practiced. 2.) I'm a Lovecraft fan.

It's the second one that made me raise an eyebrow when I saw this. It's both factors that makes me declare that this book is codswollop of the first order.

The Necronomicon never existed. It's a fictional book and saying that the Sumerians defeated a god that never existed and another writer created is not only silly, but plagiarism.

As for the spells themselves, I have real trouble with a system that uses the exact same spell for every desired result. It's actually rather insulting to people he dedicate their lives to becoming skilled in the magical arts. There is no easy way to do magic. It takes preparation, time, energy and focus. Anyone who tells you otherwise is trying to take your money.

Frankly, this whole thing also smacks a bit of chauvinism. All the names of Marduk that can do anything you could possibly want and not a single one of them is female? Gods had avatars of the opposite sex all the time. Oh, and for a system older than time it sure seems to feed into Judeo-Christian patterns of good and evil quite nicely.

Don't waste your time, unless, as someone else said, you need a supplement for a Call Of Cthulhu game. But, on the other hand, there's gotta be a better spell book you can use than this.

I hear alot of people showing their contempt for the book, occultist or otherwise. I'm just a beginner but without any disrespect I can say people try it and find out. If the shit dont work for you then move on. The worst thing that will happen is you end up wasting time on a ritual. Personally I have worked a wealth sigil with suprising accuracy (20 bucks outa no where). Don't be afraid of this book and don't close your mind to it. Hey if my situtaion was just a cool kawinkidink than Ill just move on to the next grimoire... I hear solomons is pretty good.

Submit these rituals to a scientific battery of tests. That is, after all, what this book instructs you to do.

Ask yourself if a ritual from a commercialized version of a fictional book has any power whatsoever. Is it useful magical practice? Is it constructive magical practice?

If you manage to answer yes, go for it, broh.

If not, good for a laugh.

interesting book if this is what you're into, the intro was really well written and set up for what is a how-to/dictionary of spells.

A cash-in on the earlier Simon Necronomicon, which was itself a cash-in on a scary-named book in pop culture.

This book is a load of crap, the original Necromicon is crap so this one is just as much crap. However... I wouldn't fend of reading it. This is a delightful little book for people interested in the occult(this coming from a guy who's knows nothing of the occult) and as such it's worth a read. Just....don't it take it TOO seriously.

It was a quick read and wasn't as interesting as the first Simon Necronomicon but, I did like the Sigils.
