USA TODAY bestselling author Heidi Rice delights with this scandalous workplace romance…
The prince will go to the ball… …if she’ll be his Cinderella?
Exiled Prince Dane must return to the palace he loathes for an international tour. But he’d rather escape to the desert than do his royal duty, much to the dismay of his by-the-book diplomatic aide, Jamilla.
Discovering her boss naked in a desert oasis doesn’t help innocent Jamilla’s already speeding pulse! Neither does Dane’s declaration that he’ll only attend an important ball with her as his date. Ignoring protocol for once feels amazing, until their stolen moment of freedom becomes a sizzling scandal…
From Harlequin Escape to exotic locations where passion knows no bounds.
My name's Heidi Rice, I'm a USA Today Bestselling author. I'm married with two sons (which gives me rather too much of an insight into the male psyche!).
I love my job because it involves sitting down at my computer and getting swept up in a world of high emotions, sensual excitement, funny feisty women, sexy tortured men and glamourous locations where laundry doesn't exist ...
I also tutor a 14-week in-depth online Write a Romance Novel course. So, if you have ever wanted to learn how to write romance from a bestselling author, check it out here: www.profwritingacademy.com/course/wri...
Now I believe wholeheartedly that readers should give honest and open reviews on Goodreads and Amazon and elsewhere. If you didn't like a book you are entitled to say so (even if it's mine! ouch). But you may notice that none of my book reviews are less than four-stars. That's simply because as an author myself I know how pathetically sensitive I am about bad reviews and with that in mind I prefer to spread the love among other authors — and don't do public reviews of books I didn't like. Just thought I'd clarify that!

Dane has never wanted to come back to the place he grew up in. But agreed to help his brother, by standing in and doing a royal tour. Jamilla is the diplomat who has been chosen to help him. Dane and Jamilla are both attracted to each other. But have family issues from the past, to over come.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and Mills and Boon in return for an honest review.
I always enjoy this author’s work. She is original and innovative, and always manages to create the most engaging and fascinating characters who are all different. No boring repetitive stories as so many other writers produce. Instead, each book is new and different.
The story of Dane (half brother to Karim, (King of Zafar, a desert state) and Jamilla,( a senior aide to the King). Dane is asked to step in for his half brother on a trade mission and Jamilla is the one who’s to help him stay on track as he attempts to be ‘royal’. He left when he was a child and is not keen on royalty and all the protocols which accompany his brother’s role. Jamilla is ambitious and sees this job as her stepping stone to something even more important and isn’t happy when she realises how ‘un-royal’ Dane is.
I loved this story. The author’s treatment of the characters and the plot was really satisfying. The dialogue is skilful, evocative and sensitive. I loved the couple’s journey to a happy ever after. Another great read from Heidi Rice and a lovely opportunity to meet up with Karim and Orla again!
Masterpiece! Banished Prince to Desert Boss by Heidi Rice is a May 22 release which to me is the epitomy of sizzling desert danger, bad boy prince and contained excitement a plenty!
Diplomatic Aide Jamilla is assigned to take care of Sheikh Karim's brother Dane who is standing in as Head of State during a hugely important trade tour that the royal family can't attend. Clashing the second they meet, it's easy for Jamilla to misinterpret Dane's disdain for protocol as rudeness. rather than the fear and loathing coming home which is choking Dane. Jamilla learns(in the most beautifully described way) there is more to Dane than meets the eye and when the tour commences, it's not just the scorching sun that's causing her to break into a sweat.
I loved Dane the second he swaggered off the plane. Heidi Rice has created the most perfect character. He's charming, offensive, funny, big tough guy bad boy Prince who loves all things fast and powerful from his brother's temperamental horse to his loud and purring steel horse. Deep down Prince Dane is just a guy who's hurt deeply by his past but loves with a passion his brother and sister in law. He knows what he wants and isnt afraid to go after it but holey smokes what happens when a guy might want more than just a one night stand?
From my checks this isnt not linked as a due but be sure to check out Sheikh Karim, Dane's brother's story "Innocenh'ts Desert Wedding Contract" which I remember loving just as much and deserved 5 stars for the cover alone!
Banished Prince to Desert Boss was 100% to me! It was fast paced! It was humerous! It was emotional! It was interesting. It was Perfection!

(dit is puur vr unief AUB dont shoot me) lol finished it in less than 1 hour. SO BADDDDDD no storyline whatsoever, no evolution, the characters are SUPERFICIAL ew i hated it
Ambitious and loyal, Jamilla hopes guiding the King of Zafar's half brother through a vital trade mission will further her career. Dane doesn't want to be in Zafar but would do anything for his older brother. Sizzling chemistry and misunderstandings define Jamilla and Dane's first meeting, and Jamilla needs all her diplomatic skills to deal with Dane.
I like the gradual emotional commitment and trust between Jamilla and Dane. The beautifully flawed characters, both with emotional damage from childhood, have a conflicted but deepening relationship.
Vivid settings and vibrant characters make this glamorous romance engaging to read.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley.
This was a very good read about 2 people who had troubled childhoods. The h was a diplomatic aid for the country of Zafar, it was her duty to get the H prepared to take on the responsibility of ambassador because his brother the King was staying with his pregnant wife. Both characters had daddy’s issues and felt unworthy of love. Along the way they fell in love. Great epilogue.
I wrote this book! So clearly my rating is biased... But just wanted to inform readers this is the 4th book in my series The Khans, which are linked books about neighbouring (fictional) desert kingdoms, the Princes who rule them and the women who they cannot live without!
The last book in the series, Stolen for His Desert Throne, which released in May 2023, is my first 2nd generation romance and features Princess Kaliah, the daughter of my first Khan couple Zane and Catherine in Carrying the Sheikh's Baby...
Princess Kaliah, is in fact the baby in that book. Here is the series in order, if you want to read the rest of them and catch other glimpses of Kaliah along the way..
#1: Carrying the Sheikh’s Baby – Zane and Catherine
#2: Claimed for the Desert Prince’s Heir – Kasim (Rafe) and Kasia
#3: Innocent’s Desert Wedding Contract – Karim and Orla
#4: Banished Prince to Desert Boss – Dane and Jamilla
#5: Stolen for His Desert Throne – Kaliah and Kamal
4.75 stars , only because of the H's name choice .. I wished it would be something like Adam or Ishmael -"Call me Ishmael "or Ehab or is it Ahab (Moby Dick )😉..I am an Arab BTW ... Ms Rice as usual delivers ❤🙏
