2 🤔🤔⭐️s

The mcs were not appealing, there was absolute lack of communication, too many misunderstandings and speculations.

Since the heroine had serious issues with her father, it didn’t make sense having him walking her through the altar... 😳

Rating 2.5

Hero and heroine have known each other for over a decade. Alejandro and the heroines brother are best friends from college. Flora, our heroine has always been very aware of Alejandro.

We open with a court room scene, Flora's brother has stollen from Alejandro. Oh and she's pregnant as well, Alejandro's of course. Kind of cute how she lets him know that he's going to be a daddy. You see Flora 8 month ago had gone to Alejandro begging for mercy/leniency for her brother and the two ended up in bed together. That morning Alejandro saw something that made him believe she slept with him as a way to manipulate him and use him for her brothers freedom, he was used. She leaves with no knowledge of what he saw and from that moment on he ghosts her. When she finds out she's pregnant she tries to let him know and contact him that she's pregnant and isn't able to reach him. Soooooo in the court room when he arrives just before the trial starts she stands up looks at him and points to there very pregnant belly and lets him know, yep you are going to be a daddy.

Well that was the opening scene. From there the two of course get married. They have a lot of animosity between the two, both have a lot of daddy issues. One dad was a major cheater and the other has been married four and five times and is a major playboy.

Alejandro and Flora do a one eighty during the birth of their baby, they are beyond excited for their son's birth and share in the joy. The next couple months the two work together to care for their son and establish a friendly routine of sorts. Another side note, Flora is going through the baby blues during this time and seems to have a lot of body issue. I didn't really care for the way that played out. Flora seemed to be focused on it too much and compared herself with all of Alejandro's past model girlfriends. I just found it distracting to the story line, it dragged on for a bit and seemed to be done is a negative manner. Okay back to the story here. After Flora has established a routine for the little guy Alejandro then goes back to full swing work mode. The relationship between the two shifts again, it's back to a more distant and cordial relationship. Flora is struggling with body issues and wondering if Alejandro is with other woman while he's gone. The two don't really communicate until the end of the book, which I found frustrating. Once they open up and clear things up they get their HEA.

Here are some of the issues I had with this love story.
~It was confusing at times, the flow wasn't there. Characters acted out of character through sections of the story line.
~Flora's body issues, done in a manner I found off putting. Could have been written differently.
~Not safe. He fell for her when she was 21 but had lots of girlfriends and a mistress during their one night stand.
~Flora's character wasn't very likable to me. She seemed like a very unhappy person to me.
~He was a man whore and had glimpses a guy with more depth but that didn't show up that much throughout the story.
~Wish they had more open conversation earlier in the story.

I normally really enjoy this author writing and books, but this one didn't work so well for me.
Will continue to read her books, knowing that you can't always have a home run. 😊

Heroine is very young when she falls in love with her brother’s best friend. He notices her too but he doesn’t act on his feelings. Years later a rift between the two friends will bring Alejandro and Flora together.

Loved this book. It had angst, passion, jealousy and some steam. Hero’s love confession in the end was super romantic and cheesy and I couldn’t stop smiling. Lovely couple, great chemistry! ❤️

Safety info: hero was many lovers but he reveals in the final chapter that he was celibate after his night with the heroine. Heroine is a virgin.

This romance by Michelle Smart had all the feels for me..tropes that I enjoy such as brother's best friend, secret baby, forced marriage, and denied attraction between the MC's.
The story opens with a heavily pregnant heroine at her brother's court trial for embezzlement of money from his former best friend and employer, the hero.
Eight months ago the H/h had a ONS when the heroine Flora went to the hero's (Ramos) house to plead leniency for her now jailed brother. The next day and subsequent months to follow he ghosted her and warned all his employees to not put her thru any forms of communication. That is until 8 1/2 months later in the courtroom when she points to her pregnant belly and the hero gets the shock of his life.
This is where the forced marriage comes in to play, they marry immediately and she promptly goes into labor delivering a sweet baby boy with the hero in attendance.
The rest of the story moves to them trying to establish themselves as a family.
During this time the heroine suffers from post partum depression and has body image issues from her pregnancy.I felt the hero was supportive of the heroine during this time and gave her the space and time to get back to her post pregnancy state.
They by now have started a sexual relationship and for two months all seems well until they have a huge argument and the hero goes on his business trip to Paris. There were paparazzi pictures coming out of a Paris apartment with his old mistress. The heroine being mistrustfull of men as she has been around cheaters and womanizers(her deadbeat Dad,brother, and hero)feels that the hero is being true to form and believes he is having an affair.
The heroine takes baby and goes back to London to stay with her brother for a few days to try and clear her head. The hero shows up and he is angry ,he tells the heroine to choose between him and her brother. The heroine tells him no she can't choose ,how can he even ask this of her.The heroine tells him off and goes off to tend her crying baby.
Next day,her brother takes the baby off for a walk in the park and the heroine goes to her work room. She gets the shock of her life when she sees a broken man ,all puffy eyed and bloodshot. He had been crying.
Eventually all is hashed out and the ILY's are started.
Epilogue where they are all reunited and in the process of getting remarried and another baby on the way.
The hero was celibate ever since his ONS with the heroine,he did confess to being in love with her since she turned 21..he was womanizer.
I really liked this romance. I also love a good grovel and when a hero cries as this romance had.

This story started of with an action packed first few chapters and it immediately hooks you. I was hopeful that the book would progress at that same pace, but it did not. The flow of the plot just felt off, and, truthfully, I just didn't like the main characters a whole lot. Also, some of their earlier encounters when the heroine was a teen, made me a tad uncomfortable.

2.5 stars. I appreciated how quick this book went but there could have been more meat. Also, I found the addition of her being into him since she was 13 and he was 20 creepy but at least they didn't try to make it like he was into her before she turned 21. I didn't hate Ramos but I wasn't a fan.
All in all, quick and enjoyable. Took me back to the Harlequins I would sneak back in the day

cute story

Good book! I liked the parts where she confronted herself about her post pregnancy body. It was very realistic and relatable. The part where he opens up to her was very profound. There is a stigma around men and sharing their feelings. It was refreshing. I did find the divorce part unnecessary and wished she found her creativity again. It was mentioned enough I felt it was an important part of herself.

I liked it.
And I buy their love and connection.
The angst via the whole backstory involving her cheating brother, their decades old connection, and the h's secret crush on him is done well. I like the author's way of creating a 'heavy' history that is slowly unveiled for the reader.

Only quibble - the h's annoying obsession with her post pregnancy body and its supposed unattractiveness. This is dragged out too much, for too long.
If she was so concerned and self-conscious, and over a period of time, then she could done something about it. Like go for walks, if nothing else.
It really grated on my nerves.

🥴🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Alrighty! 👏🏻 So it's been a minute since I tried a good ole Harlequin. I thought what the hell this sounds intriguing and though I knew what I was getting into...I didn't know what I was getting into.

Basically from the jump I hated this because it's all single POV in the heroines head only. So, because of this not only did I find myself irritated with the h quicker than usual but also the hero came across flat and lifeless with no personality. They also had absolutely no chemistry whatsoever. Apparently the hero gives her a good smolder a few times and boom! It's love.

Secondly, the heroine Flora was the dumbest of dumb dumbs. Meek little virgin with daddy issues who somehow throws her virginity away on her brothers bestie turned enemy. Gets knocked up and then makes a scene trying to tell the baby daddy she's preggers right before the baby drops. Hah, okay y'all. So her making this scene wasn't a big deal to me considering the context was how he closed down all avenues for her to get in contact. I wasnt mad at that.

What I was frustrated with and what caused me a headache from rolling my eyes so much was the heroine and how the author wrote her. I came to read about adults finding love not live in the head of a teenager with a crush who likes to blush every 3 sentences while describing repeatedly how her body feels everytime she gets aroused by the hero. Puhleassee. No one cares! Stop blushing like a moron. Stop whining about your baby fat and assuming he's gonna cheat on you because your jackass father did to your mom. Find some confidence and stop hating on yourself. Ugh.

So I'm done. Get some therapy for goodness sakes and stop whining. Geez.

The first book that I listed in my favorite shelf this year. Honestly didn't think it would be this good. This book wasn't perfect by all mean. There were things that I wished happen instead of the scenes that happened in this book but it endeared me. I disliked the hero not being celibate when he claimed he fell in love with the heroine when she was 21 years old. At least after they were intimate, he was celibate and the h fell pregnant, he didn't know because he 'hated' her by then. So h's brother stole money from the H, the h tried to appeal to the H to let the brother go. Then when they talked, one thing led to another, they slept together. The next morning the H misunderstood the h's brother text to her and he hated her because of it. He thought she slept with him to gain her brother's freedom. He lied to heroine telling her to meet him later and he was a no show. After she knew she was pregnant, she tried calling, contacting him in every way possible but he made it impossible to talk to him.

5 months later he met the heroine when she was almost due. He demanded the h to marry him or he would keep prosecuting the h's brother. She agreed and right after they were married, she was in labor. They developed a truce and was sort of friend-ish and co-parenting. The H adored his son and it was cute. She was insecure with her post party body when she believed the H slept with OW who have beautiful bods. She kept pushing the H away because of her insecurity. Then one day the H got to her and convinced her that he found her attractive, they finally had sex again. After that the H cut his business trip short and wasn't away as often as before.

The next drama came when the h had an argument with the H regarding her brother. She pushed him to forgive the brother and he got defensive. He was mad and didn't kiss her goodbye before going on his business trip. Then when she was about to go for a walk, papz swarmed her. Apparently the H was spotted leaving the flat that he got for his mistress. She tried to contact him but went straight to his voicemail instead. She decided to fly to London, to her brother. The H didn't want her bringing their son to the brother. He didn't want to forgive and forget. That was his one of his bad traits. The h called him on that after he went after the h to her bro's place. He gave her an ultimatum, him of her brother, she refused to choose and shit went down.

The next day she thought the hero left but no, he was still in her studio where the shit went down yesterday. He confessed that he loved her since he was 21 and said will make amend. They had to wait for another 6 months to divorce (the law there said after 1 year of marriage they'll be able to divorce) and she wanted to have a proper wedding right after they divorced.

Epilogue showed us when they were divorced and the h was about to walk down the aisle. They were expecting another baby. Loved how sweet the H was towards his family.

Claiming His Baby at the Alter was a story I didn’t want to leave; put down or finish. I love the way Michelle Smart conjures up emotion and this story was packed with it.

Desperate to save her brother and beg Alejandro to not press charges, Flora ends up experiencing the most magical night of her life with him instead. Hurt when he shuns her and cuts her from his life, she has no opportunity to tell Alejandro he’s going to be a father until her brother’s trial starts.

Having loved her big brother’s best friend for most of her life, Flora’s blackmailed marriage makes life difficult. Alejandro shows his kind side and together over time as the walls start to come down; the question of whether they can have a lifetime of happiness together is shadowed by Alejandro’s absolute resolve Flora’s brother has nothing to do with their son.

Michelle Smart is so clever with her words. The love builds. The emotion and angst are swirling page after page. As the layers drop you can see both have feelings but when will they see it themselves? Just knowing, and waiting, as a reader, all of the unsaid words will be leading to a spectacular show down.

I loved that Alejandro was emotional. He played quite the part in the story and I loved his angle. Flora was stubborn and protected her heart differently and with each interaction and adventure I was waiting with trepidation for the finale.

Absolutely adored this story; a total shelf keeper. 4.5/5

Alejandro and Flora: my new favorite Presents couple? Tough to say! This was an incredible book!

I have not read a Presents that just made me *squeee!* in so long! From the opening scene of the heroine entering the courthouse to the amazing final scenes , I was riveted. I couldn’t put this book down.

This review is hard to write because I don’t know how to effectively express how great this story is without just putting all the quotes and moments I loved. Just excellent!

Fans of the Anne/Gilbert* dynamic where the heroine doesn't realize she's been in love all along and the hero is suffering from unrequited love will probably like this one.

The story starts off with an unforgiving hero blackmailing the very pregnant heroine into marriage, so the Anne/Gilbert dynamic isn't really evident. But as their marriage progresses and the backstory is brought in, the parallels become clear.

I also enjoyed the heroine-only point of view. We discovered along with her that the hero really did love her (despite her soft post-baby body and her guarded heart). That kept me reading, since the stakes felt high and the hero was a bit of mystery to solve.

My only quibble is that while the H/h clearly cared for the theiving, gambling brother - I couldn't figure out why. We were told his good points, but never shown them.

Note to self*spoiler*: this is the one where the heroine divorces the hero in the epilogue and marries him again in a white wedding while pregnant with their second child.

*Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery - I highly recomment the books and the CBC miniseries

The plot was typical of this genre but the ending was typical as well but pretty well written. I would have given it a 2 star but rating it higher because the author took a plot that has been written way too many times and still managed to not give you a deja vu.
The H’s h’s brother’s best friend. The two share a chemistry but the h stays away until her brother embezzles from his best friend. She goes to H for help and have a one night stand and of course she is a virgin but he shuns her after reading a text from her brother the next morning. They meet when her brother’s trial is in progress and on realizing she is pregnant, they marry the same day and he drop the charges and she goes into labor. The way they come together after marriage and the last confrontation is well written.

Billionaire Alejandro completely ghosts Flora after their night together, thinking she used him. They see each other at her brother's trial where Alejandro realizes that Flora is pregnant with his child. He agrees to drop the charges against her brother, if she marries him. After a rocky start, they are happy together until an apparent betrayal and Flora leaves. Truths come out and I just really enjoyed this HP. There is spice (more than usual), jealousy and romance. A great HP if you like them.

I did like it. I liked how good hero was to the heroine there wasn't half the book of him treating her like she was responsible for her brothers actions.I didn't like that it wasn't dual POV and only got the heroine's POV. I liked how it ended and the reveal at the end that I suspected throughout (that hero had not slept with anyone else since the heroine). I didn't like that even though hero fell for heroine at 21 he continued to sleep with other women for years. P.

Starts well, heroine in court for her brother's trial, with huge baby bump. H is brother's friend but is going ahead with prosecution for theft and has been ignoring all her attempts at contact. H does a fantastic double-take when he sees she is pregnant, as of course it's his.
And then, it's just a list of misunderstandings and assumptions and arguments and by the time the H does his big explanation and apology at the end I didn't care. They deserve each other.

Bella storia e bei personaggi, l'ho letto con molto piacere.
Particolare anche il fatto che il pov sia solo della protagonista, l'ho trovato originale e molto azzeccato per il tipo di storia.
