The Nut Low is book 5 in the series A Good Run Of Bad Luck and is recommended to be read in order.
This is Mason Granville's story. After leaving town when his brother committed suicide, he tried his hand at a number of jobs, but always ended with The Nut Low.

What the heck just happened? I am still reeling from this book and don't know where to start. This story had so much going on in it like laughter and pain and so much sorrow and was so funny I could not stop laughing throughout the entire story. With this series and this current story, you have to give high-fives to the supporting characters, they made this story truly awesome. Antonio, you have clearly become one of our favorite characters. We loved them all Ciara, Plaid Man, Muffin Man, Abby, Jack, and so many others.
Mason upon meeting him we loved him and loved his sense of humor and sexy swagger but, as the story progressed that man became hard and unmoving and quite frankly was an emotional mess, and he was not so likable anymore, and honestly, we were hard-pressed to find any redeeming qualities about the man. Mason was such a douche, his bromance with Antonio even faltered. We had mixed feelings about his character but, we are not willing to give up on him just yet, time will tell, in the meantime, you're on our sh** list!
Jo, we loved you're so kind and loving and caring and an awesome friend, and we loved your passion for animals. You got a raw deal all the way around, but, we have to admire you for putting your heart on the line full well knowing Mason was bound to break your heart.
The story was one heck of a ride, and we loved taking it will Jo and Mason not sure if I am happy with the way things played out but, who knows what the future holds. Reed Security loved that you guys made an appearance.
Antonio, I will say it again, what a character you are. I am shaking my head and laughing while typing this. Thought the story was outstanding and not your typical romance by this author, hoping it's not the end of seeing Jo, I will be rooting for her to find her own happily ever after. Plaid Man, you're up next, and we can't wait to see how the conclusion to this series plays out...
A book where the MC’s do not end up together is NO happy ending. It’s not even questionable. If the author is hinting they’ll be together in future books well that’s no good either because then their HEA will be some afterthought in another couples book. The ending was very ambiguous but again was NOT HEA or even HFN.

It’s took me a while to put my thoughts into words when it comes to The Nut Low. I devoured this book and by the end was thrown through a loop I think I’m still recovering from.
Mason Granville has returned to town for the first time in fourteen years and it is safe to say that both the entire cast of characters and readers are left bewildered by the man he now is. His time away is a mystery but the subtle emerging stories make his character interesting. He is now an outsider in his small home town and who better for him to meet then Jo. We’ve been waiting to see what would happen with Jo, after she came to town with Antonio and Ciara, and the time has finally come. She is an all-out nice and trusting person. So, you’d think that a man who doesn’t trust and a woman who trusts maybe a little too much wouldn’t be a good match but they are.
These two share an instant attraction which is followed by an electric connection. Very early on they make some fairly serious comments in their internal monologues that results in them being very comfortable with one another. They may start with just a physical relationship but it doesn’t last long as they make a smooth transition into an actual relationship without it ever being discussed.
As always, I cannot write a review about one of Giulia’s books without mentioning the side characters. Antonio was stand out for me in this one not just because of his protectiveness for Jo but because of his interactions with Mason. I sense a bromance brewing and I am here for it! Plaid Man (Jake) makes an appearance again and it was one of my favourite scenes with some of my favourite lines. Excited doesn’t being to cover how I feel about his book. Muffin man is back and Carter is doing what Carter does best and bringing people together.
This feels like a very different book than what we usually see from Giulia. At the beginning of the book Mason’s POV carries a very sombre tone but as he starts to get back pieces of himself which he has been missing his narrative picks up. There are other moments in this book that, like me, you will be desperate to talk to someone about. Now Giulia has made me cry and shocked me with some of the twists that she has included in her books previously but I don’t think I’ve ever been this frustrated. The spin Giulia takes is so well done that I can’t be mad but if this is going to become a regular thing from her, because of how beautifully it is woven into the plot, I’m not sure my emotional state can take it.
With a Reed Security appearance, another poker night, a town wide betting pool, and a romance with a bit of a twist. It is a mistake not to read this.
This is the fifth book in the A Good Run of Bad Luck Series and Mason and Jo’s story. Mason had left home years ago after his brother’s death. Now fourteen years later he returns home, and finds things aren’t the same as when he left. Then he meets Jo. Jo runs the animal shelter in town, and she is just the sweetest, I loved her. Jo and Mason fit so perfectly together, and then he had to be so selfish and mean, and from that point I just wanted to smack him. Mason and Jo’s journey together had my emotions all over the place, and that ending left me wanting more. Highly recommend.
Omg Omg Omg! I can't believe Giulia Lagomarsino did this to me. I know as an author she did her job and did it well, I was completely sucked into the storyline lock, stock, and barrel. As a matter of fact, I laughed so hard during the fight over the first poker night I had to read the entire episode out loud to everyone in the house while tears were rolling down my face. The insecurities, mistakes, emotions, and reactions are real, both for the characters and for myself as a reader.
This was intense and funny and entertaining and frustrating all at once. Mason is complex and I loved Jo and her naivete in trusting. While they have chemistry and we could see where their relationship is going, the author sort of leaves us hanging. I still don't know what to think.
This book did not play out with a HEA so that was a shock. I got fed up of everyone even jo saying she cheated.she did not she dated a guy thought he was single saw him for a year and found out he was a lair and was married, that does not mean she cheated, it was the husband that broke that relationship not her.she was a victim (it's happened to me I was the wife and I was kind to the other girl she did not know) so that bugged me and the wife was a bitch to her. I felt we should have had details with Henry we never got them, plus the lies about the. Ex texting jo? Sometimes this author spends to many pages on nonsense and not the important details.

The Nut Low is book five in the series; A Good Run of Bad Luck, which is a spinoff series from The Cortell Brothers. These books should be read in order to have a better understanding of the characters and town. This is a small town, insta love romance, focusing on Mason and Jo's journey.
Gah! Mason was so infuriating!! He was crazy smart and talented but he was such a temperamental, selfish, egotistical, arrogant, hypocritical A-hole!! I just couldn't with him. He needs more then a punch to the face. He never really redeemed himself in my opinion. He just went too far too many times and treats people like crap.
Sweet Jo is just too nice! She's so caring and giving. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body. She's not materialistic and is just a simple, down to earth, animal loving sweetheart. She's been burned too many times and it just proves that life isn't fair. I really felt for her. It must be lonely, but she never lets anyone or anything keep her down. I admire that.
There was humor, just not much Cortell banter, but there was Classic Corduroy meddling. Honestly, Antonio was the shining star in this story. He's known to be a jerk but he was the sweetest jerk in this book! I loved his loyalty and how he always had his JoJo's back. And I can't help but love his grumpiness.
This story was unique, entertaining, emotional, and 100% frustrating. Especially that ending. Like that's it? Giulia mentions in her author notes that we will see these two in the next book, so does she have something up her sleeve? This is comparable to a cliff hanger, but I usually love cliff hangers because that means the characters get more books...but that's not the case in this situation. I hope Giulia doesn't leave us hanging forever, there's usually a method to her madness. Guess we'll find out what these two are up to in Jake's book.
This is the fifth book in the A Good Run of Bad Luck series and it follows the return of Mason Granville. Giulia does it again with the twists and turns throughout the book. Just when you think all is ok with the world, she throws your head for a spin.
Mason disappeared fourteen years ago after his brother died in a car accident, his mother passed away and his other brother took off. He is back home with just a backpack on his back. He runs into a few of the locals that remembers and he finds out that his father died and Henry, his brother sold the family house and a Cortell is living there. He meets Jo at a bar and she offers him a place to stay for the night. Well, he is taken back by her kindness and beauty and one night turns into much longer. He tells her a bit about where he was and what he was up to. He ends up staying with Jo and helping her with the animal shelter she runs. He confides in her that he was engaged but walked in on her with another man. He tells her that he can not handle cheaters as they will always be a cheater. When a strange woman shows up with news that throws Mason for a loop, he takes off? Can he get over what happened in Jo's past? When things seem to be better Jo does something that he cannot forgive her for and all hell breaks loose at the town's poker night. Does he handle it the right way? Can he forgive Jo for what happened? Will they be able to make it work again or is there just too much hurt convolved?
Jo decides that the hot guy, Mason that she met at the bar is worth a one-night stand but she didn't expect to fall for him. She can't seem to get rid of him, not that she wants him to go. He helps around the shelter, he saved her from an attack at the shelter, he is a great cook and keeps her warm at night. Her one-night turns into a few weeks but then a bomb is dropped on their happiness. When Jo gets a visit from someone from her past, Mason takes that person's side and leaves Jo. Why would he take their side and not stay with Jo? When he finally comes back and they make up can Jo be sure he will stay? When she tries to help him with a situation, it blows up in her face and she loses Mason and her dignity. Can she get over the humiliation that Mason caused? Will Jo ever bounce back to the person she used to be? Can they get over the pain that each one of them caused or is it too late?
This story does have some funny scenes because Jack, Corduroy, Muffin Man, Antonio, Plaid Man, and the poker night guys all make an appearance. You cannot have those guys in a story and not have a few funny situations happen. Does Mason get the honourary job of being arrested? Do the guys give him relationship advice at poker night? Although most if not all of Giulia's stories end with everyone happy this one has a bit of a spin on it. You will have to read it to find out what happens with Jo and Mason.
Okay first of after reading how close Jo and Antonio have become it seems weird to finally see Jo with someone yet felt disappointed we didn't see it all. Seeing her in a new town, trying to make friends and feeling lonely seems so unlike her from what we have seen so cherry in Ciara's and Antonio's book. Then we have Mason, born and raised in the town yet in a many ways feels like a stranger. Seeing these two seem like an old country song come to life, the lonely girl and the drifter so to speak come together but then Giulia Lagomarsino does so much more it was like WOW between these two. These two are so afraid to jump into love yet you can see from the beginning the love is all there even when they deny it every way. There's so many things we don't know about Mason and man when Jo tries to open him up he seems to shy back. I loved the whole mystery of him but for Jo it felt like she wasn't going anywhere. Not only do we see these two but we see a side of Antonio, the protective side nobody except Ciara has seen before. The whole gang is back and their little poker games are hoot to read in this small town. Have to say this is one book that just did not see the ending like this and yet I know Giulia Lagomarsino has something coming cannot wait though what she does. Suspense is killing me wanting to see what will these two will do.
"I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own."
Dear Giulia Lagomarsino, I mean this in the most loving way since you're my favorite but WHAT IN THE FRACKING HELL?!
Ever since Mason's brother died, he's become a flight risk who runs when things hit the fan (gotta love that LOL). He's finally come back after many years, and he runs into Jo from the jump. Their chemistry is so intense that they hook up that night, and he ends up staying with her. However, Mason has some demons that he never dealt with which didn't do him any favors. Things are going well, and he's even in somewhat of a bromance with Antonio (that was so much fun LOL) but Jo has a past, and that past came back to bite her in the behind. Mason didn't take it well, and made some very questionable choices but Jo has a big heart so she ended up forgiving him which I'm not sure I would have to be honest. Things hit the fan again, and man Mason made an enemy of me with this round of bad choices because he was out of line (and I'm getting mad all over again). I have to say that I was so happy to get the Reed Security family making an appearance (I still have a lot of questions about what happened to my favorite guys Giulia), and the supporting cast of this small town folks with the highlight of Plaid Man & the Muffin Man. So yeah, I'm done talking now because I don't want to give too much away, especially the biggest thing that threw me for a loop & set me off LOL (you can see for yourself by hitting those one click buttons). HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Man I don't know how to feel about this book after reading it. This was something totally different from Guilia than I've read from her I'm still reeling, because where her book doesn't end on a hea I have a feeling in the next book we'll see them again. Mason has been gone for several years after his brothers death and has finally come home to try and figure out what to do with his life. He runs into Jo at the local bar one night and they hit it off right away and soon they're in a relationship, but then Jo's past comes back front and center and soon Mason and her are no more. I had a feeling that this was going to end differently as Mason has a big issue with trust and forgiveness that he's never worked out and I believe he was taking it all out on Jo. I dont think his issue is with her as much with himself. Was it wrong for what Jo did? Idk I'm in between on this I'm just hoping that Mason comes to his senses before the Plaid Man steals her away 🤣. In other news boy was it so good to see my boy's from Reed Security are back in town and Carter and his matchmaking skills, not to mention the bidding game on what Mason's job is had me laughing throughout the book when I wasn't shedding tears for Jo after what Mason did that was so not cool, but then you had Finn, Finn the Muffin Man who's giving Carter fits over how his fiance' treats the muffin man omg had me in hysterics. I so love these character's. Bring on Bk6 I'm so ready for it.
I’ve been waiting for Jo’s story and it’s a doozy. The town and all the zany characters are back in full force with crazy antics, wild banter, town poker and one betting scheme that has everyone in a titter. The romance starts out hot right from the beginning when Jo meets her man. He’s the old new guy back in town after years away. Lots of mystery around who, what and where he’s been when Mason walks back into the town he left behind. The chemistry is instant and easy when he meets the sweet animal lover. Jo was one of my favorites right from the minute she appeared in Antonio and Ciara’s story. This is a standalone but you would miss out on so much backstory with the town and it’s craziness especially with the mad mafia man, Antonio. It was a wild ride as Mason rebuilds his life with the help of a few town folks like the every outlandish Corduroy. Yup, the town deputy is at it again. Matchmaking is his specialty. There were tons of laughs, a few tears, several poignant moments and one sexy love affair that was sweet and steamy. I wasn’t too happy with the ending and I can only hope with the next book things will be as they should be. I think this one is my favorite of the series so far since Antonio’s book isn’t included. There’s even a Reed Security sighting with hilarious shenanigans. I can’t wait for the last book. Loved it! 4.5 stars
I love these characters in A Good Run of Bad Luck. I was happy to see that Jo had her own story, but I was hoping for more for her. I love Jo’s big heart and kindness. She deserves to have someone to count on and spend her time with. She’s lonely and feels alone most of the time. She is lucky that she has found a family with. Antonio and Ciara, but she wants more.
Mason has decided to come back home after traveling the world for fourteen years. He’s a man of mystery to the town’s folk in the little town he grew up in. He left as a young man and after fourteen years has come home. Now everyone wants to know where he’s been and what he has been doing. As is true with small towns, everyone has their opinion and is sharing it with anyone that will listen. Town gossip could get him into some trouble as well.
I have loved all of the books in the A Good Run of Bad Luck as well as The Cortell Brothers and Reed Security Series. The books have been a light read for the most part, but this one was not a light and humorous as the others. It was still just as good, but not as light. It was a great read and I look forward to more to come. I was pleased to see the Reed Security crew in this book and a little of the Cortell Brothers. I love Giulia Lagomarsino’s books and always enjoy them. I give this book a 5-star review and cannot recommend these books enough to readers.
The Nut Low was not your usual Giulia Lagomarsino. This one was different. I will say this about this series, we have had some more complexity to our characters than in other books, and it has added a layer of depth to the stories that I am enjoying. However, I must say Mason has work to do. Jo is a sweetheart who deserves the world and I am so thankful she has Antonio who is like a grizzly bear brother with his protectiveness. Mason, yeah he's been hurt, but he's very self-absorbed...I believe we are going to see another side of Mason in the coming books and I believe it will be for the better. But we have to wait coz Giulia gave us a bit of a cliffy. I got to the end and went 😲!
We also got to meet the Muffin Man again, his name is Finn and I now have hopes that this series perhaps won't be ending soon. Yay!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 However, Corduroy is not liking life--which of course leads to hilarity with the rest of the town, including the Cortell brothers. We did touch base with Reed Security again and yay they are all ok.
Still loving and recommending this series, these characters are like no others (Reed Security is in a class by themselves), and you should be reading their amazing tales of crazy small-town antics.
Another great read by Giula. I have read each and every one of her books and love how she interjects humor into each one and great characters.
This book brings Jo and Mason together on a one-night stand that continues...
Of course, Antonio is always an addition to her books with his grumpy hard ass self.
It also includes the rest of the crazy people in the town and the Town Facebook page that adds to the storyline.
Even the guys and gals from Reed Security make a cameo appearance (another great series if you haven't read it yet).
Jo runs an animal shelter on Antonio and Ciera's property and Mason just rolls into town with no car and only a backpack which gets many of the town folks gossiping.
They have an immediate connection and try to build on it, but both have secrets that affects their relationship.
I was hoping for a HEA, but it didn't quite happen (yet). My hope is that Jo and Mason will come back together in the next book and if not then hopefully they will each find their HEA.
This book had me in tears, both happy and sad and I would highly recommend it. I can't wait for the next book in the series to find out what happens with the rest of the characters, Plaid Man, Muffin Man.
I've been waiting for Jo's story forever it seems. Jo, she's the girl next door type who has my heart because she loves animals. This just makes her even better in my book, but that's another story. Jo meets Mason. A hot rugged man who walked into town to come back home. A home he no longer has because of his brother, who he doesn't speak to anymore. (Spoiler, I will not disclose) Jo and Mason hit it off and a one night stand forms, but does it really? It's more of a booty call at your disposal, but one that is surely going to ignite. While Antonio is against this, because hello, it's Antonio, he learns to like Mason. As Jo and Mason carry on with their relationship, things are bound to happen. Things you want to happen, and things you are just waiting to happen because hello, Giulia. As these two try to to get to know each other, things start happening, and let me tell you, at the end of this book, you are left with your mouth on the floor, because you are SHOCKED SPEECHLESS! (SPOILER! I will not disclose) You will close this book and run to Giulia demanding she did not do what she did. ENJOY!
This is the fifth book in this fascinating series and is Mason and Jo’s story. Mason left town after his brother was killed in a car accident, and now returns after 14-years with just a backpack and feels like an outsider in his hometown. Jo runs the animal shelter after arriving in town with Antoni and Clara and lives on the property with them. Mason and Jo meet in a bar, and he ends up going home with her, and staying with her, despite an overprotective Antonio. This story has Jack, Corduroy, the Cortell brothers, plaid man, and muffin man, with Corduroy doing what he does best trying to bring people together with hilarious results. Bring into the mix the poker nights, Reed security guys, and this is a definite must read. When Jo’s past comes back to haunt her, she is humiliated when Mason turns against her. Will these two get back together? This is a beautifully written story which is humorous, entertaining, and with heartbreak, emotions, witty banter, crazy shenanigans, suspense, and love, which leads to an all-consuming and addictive page turner. I cannot wait to read the next book in this phenomenal series, and I highly recommend this gifted authors’ work.
*****5 WOW Stars***** This book is not what I expected and did not end the way I thought it would; defiantly should come with some type of warning but I absolutely LOVED it. Mason grief bleeds through the page’s he has been gone for 14 years. He disappeared after his brother death; he walked away from his father and his brother Henry. When Mason finally comes home he is surprise to find out nothing the same as it was before he left; with nothing walks back in town with nothing but a backpack and nowhere to since his brother sold their family home. I love Jo; she is trying to rebuild her life after she moved with Antonio and Ciara but it’s not that easy but wouldn’t change it for the world. Jo is lonely in the small town and the men fishing pond getting less and less as the good ones keep getting married. Jo decides to take her chance when meets a sexy drifter to find he was once a local. I can’t with to read more because I need answers!! O I’m leaving out how the town starts their shenanigans right away. O and I definitely Antonio has a friend now.
The story has laughs, pain, secrets, second chances, and heartbreak.
If you have not read the below, I would recommend reading those books(s) first. Maintenance Required (The Cortell Brothers #1) Collateral Damage (The Cortell Brothers #2) Wanted Dead Or In Love (The Cortell Brothers #3) Textbook Approach (The Cortell Brothers #4) Priceless Ink (The Cortell Brothers #5) Tangled Web (The Cortell Brothers, #6) Dead Man's Hand (A Good Run of Bad Luck #1) Drawing Dead (A Good Run of Bad Luck #1.5) The Dirty (A Good Run of Bad Luck #2) Ace Magnets (A Good Run of Bad Luck #3) Four Horsemen (A Good Run of Bad Luck #4)
This is Mason’s story. He grew up in this town but left after his brother died. Now that he is back, he is a changed man. He has been gone for about fourteen years. He forms a relationship with a woman Jo. That relationship move ahead up to a point when he gets news from a woman in the past and suddenly he is struggling. Secrets are revealed that neither of them are happy about. Can they come back from the secrets or is this the end for them?
Muffin man Oh muf finn man is in town hell yeah and what an entrance he made. Oh wait this book is about Jo and Mason guess I got side tracked just like the rest of the town trying to guess what Mason does for a living. It seems that after Mason and Jo's hot first encounter these 2 can't help but be each other's release and who would have thought that someone could get so close to Antonio or bond over their forced expectation to attend poker night :) Though I think I spoke too soon how could Mason, just how could he be so stupid I can't Believe it he preached so hard to Jo yet he is no better I'm shattered as I read that for Jo. The hits just don't seem to stop coming for Jo and OMG OMG Giulia how could you do us like that I'm so shocked I can't close my mouth I'm like a fish out of water and find myself rocking that is just cruel cruel I tell ya I just want Corduroy to smack some sense into them how could things go so wrong all because of things that happened in their respective pasts Damn you had me crying again and I thought this was going to be a drama free book especially when the Reed guys showed up I thought they would end all the drama but boy was I wrong I just want to bag little Jo up so she matched her new nickname seems fitting that that nickname and her life at the moment would so match up its sad. Poor little Hobbit and her Duke ;(
A Good Run of Bad Luck, book 6: This is the story of Jo & Mason. We first met Jo in Dead Man’s Hand, where she needed to be taken away from her home for her own safety. She’s started another animal shelter in the small town where she meets Mason Granville, who’s returned after being away for a number of years. Jo’s new life hasn’t been fun-she’s been Ciara’s friend & Antonio’s responsibility but seeing the happy couple reinforces her loneliness. Mason is a work in progress. I liked him, then hated him, now am neutral towards him. I was excited to read more about the Muffin Man (Finn) and the Plaid Man (Jake). Antonio has further become a favourite character of mine, who is loyal, protective & will tell you the truths you don’t want to hear. There were a few fun bits (like the betting pool), and I liked the appearance of Reed Security, but the story was more angsty. Jo deserves more & I am hoping that happens soon!
I received a copy of this book. My honest opinion is voluntarily provided.
What a great series. It’s full of fun, laughs, romance and suspense. What more could I ask for! Ms. Lagomarsino never disappoints me with the storylines of her books and I have to admit she did an amazing job with Mason and Jo’s story. A story that includes the crazy town folks and a cameo appearance from the Guys with Reed Security.
Jo is the quirky fun woman that runs the animal shelter and Mason is the loner who has traveled the world doing this and that since his brother’s death. Their story will have your emotions all over the place, at least it did mine. Their story is full of passion, smiles and laughs. However, it’s also full of doubts and fears on both sides due to past events in their lives. Can they sort it out or do they end up parting ways?
I highly recommend grabbing up The Nut Low. It’s so worth the read. I sure hope the author has future plans for this couple and I’m sure once you read The Nut Low, you’ll agree.
We finally get to hear Jo's story. We have all been expecting her to get together with a few of the characters in Giulia's world but nothing has come of it, until she meets Mason in a bar one evening.
Mason left town years ago to get away from everything after his brother died in a car accident, then his mother died and finally his older brother just left town. He needed to get away and find himself, but circumstances find him walking back into town, where he meet Jo in the local bar. Their relationship is a very rocky one with many highs and lows, but then love is never an easy path.
This book will have you laughing and crying, but be ready for an ending that we do not usually expect to see from Giulia and you need to be ready for it. I know that we will not have heard the end of this.
This was definitely different to Giulia's normal storylines, but not in a bad way. It is a real rollercoaster ride that will definitely leave you wanting more.
This book 5 in the Good Run of Bad Luck Series You do need to read this series in order plus the Cortell brothers first also in order.
Mason Granville hAs been gone for a long time. He walks back in town with nothing but a backpack and nowhere to since his brother sold their family home.
Jo is lonely and the single men in town are getting less and less as the good ones keep getting married. She decided to ho to the local bar and meets a sexy drifter to find he was once a local.
The romance with Mason and Jo is fast. The town starts their shenanigans right away. There are lots of twists and loads of laughs. We get cameos from most of the Cortells and even a fun visit from Reed Security. The end of this one however really threw me for a loop. I’m still stunned.
If you like a touch of suspense, lots of humor and a bit of steam, you will love this series.!
We start the book out with Mason. Where do we find him? Who are Henry and Tim? What gets Antonio's dander up? Well, I guess I should ask, "What DOESN'T get Antonio's dander up???" Why does Mason take Jo's truck? What does he do? Why does jo drop Mason off at Josh's business? What happens when Jo hears the dogs going crazy one night? What does Mason see when he walks in? What happens when Antonio shows up? What happened at the police station had me shaking my head. When Mason takes Jo home, I couldn't help but to laugh! Ciara and Jo are a HOOT!!! Oh lordy, the secrets in this story....dang!!!! Will Mason ever be able to make up for the crap he has done? Jo had me crying near the end of the book. I felt her pain, literally. I have said those words myself as to what life will be like for me once my mother passes away.
First off, if you pick a book up because of the blurb, make sure to read it on Amazon as the book obviously went in a direction than planned (not a bad thing) This book really conflicted me. As even though it was mostly lacking the suspense/action of the previous book, I was actually really enjoying it, as the humour wasn't laid on thick and there was a cute bromance going on. And then everything came to light and the male main character seemed to have a personality transplant. For me that mostly ruined any enjoyment of the book, but in saying that I'm interested to see how far he'll go to redeem himself if it's possible. In saying all of this, the towns residents are always a pleasure to catch up with.
When tragedy struck more than a decade earlier Mason left town looking for a new beginning. After life throws him another devastating turn, he returns and realizes that life didn’t stand still while he is away. When he meets Jo, she is there when he needs someone the most, but life has always challenged him so why should his relationship with Jo be any different?
Although Jo is content with her life there is nothing she would like more than to find a man to spend her life with. As she and Mason spend time together, she believes that he might me the man but will their pasts destroy what they could have together?
The banter is sarcastic and you will be drawn in both by the characters and their struggles who will have you hoping they can find their way to each other.
Jo moved to town with her two friends in unusual circumstances, and she’s still in the town. She never thought that it would be so lonely even though she had some friends. Jo just wanted what everyone else seemed to be finding. Then she sees the man at the bar, but she knows there’s something he won’t tell her. Mason left after his brother died. Thinking he could change his life, he did until it all turned bad again. When he returned to town, he wasn’t the golden boy anymore and felt like an outsider, then he meets Jo. Although they seem to be working through their baggage when Jo does something, Mason doesn’t know if he can forgive her. Another awesome story with the poker nights and a visit from Reed Security.
With old favourite characters making an appearance, with some amusing results, I truly didn’t want this one to end. I kept looking at the percentage left to read, and wondering where the hell Giulia was going to take the story.
Not everyone gets a happy ending, in real life or in fiction, but everyone is left happy. It will all make sense after you read it!
I started this book in the morning and finished mid-afternoon, which in itself isn’t unusual with this series and the two prior to it, I honestly just wanted to know where it was headed.
Read it, you might regret it, but then again, you might not :D
