Om for the hOMe is a jewel of a book that sparkles like the crystals that I added in my living room. Each chapter inspired me to look inward and around my home. I loved reading about Carrie's journey and seeing the connection between her mind, body and surroundings. I was able to relate to her case studies and take away something meaningful from each one to apply to my life. Om for the hOMe takes you on an emotional, spiritual and intellectual journey that you will want to refer back to, especially when you need a spiritual boost.

I really enjoyed the integration of mental and spiritual health with setting up your home. I've heard before that your environment can affect your mood, and the author does a great job integrating the two and making it accessible to everyone. Furthermore, I definitely plan on implementing some of what was suggested in the book, and look forward to seeing how it affects my mood and attitude. Highly recommend for anyone looking to make their home a happier place and improve their mindset.

When looking at interiors, I tend to gravitate to those with Architectural details. The design elements that typically catch my fancy are interesting angles and textures.

Time spent in my dads work shop, forged in me an appreciation of wood grains natural beauty and I frequently find myself drawn to interiors which exhibit unique wood patterns.

Leskowitz advocates creating a positive flow to promote health and happiness and teaches us to ask ourselves fundamental questions. Of them, my favorite is, “What, or who inspires me?”

I do like an open floor plan and my husband is more geared towards traditional. I'm aware that small changes can produce boundless effects so we have learned we function best by compromising. One thing we both agree upon is our excitement of discovery and with that said we both have tactile interest and appreciate sensory triggers.

Leskowitz establishes when we make choices we may wish to consider, "How does this make me feel?”

We have bookcases full of cherished books and we also have plants, fossils, bowls of shells, and pinecones scattered about our home. We find hiking in the woods, fossil hunting, and spending time at the beach to be relaxing. Our collections of these items remind us of that peaceful feeling. And this fits in well with Leskowitz final exercise which is Home as Self-Portrait. She explains this exercise can easily be accomplished by knowing yourself.

I received a copy of this helpful book from Catherine Kennedy, Freelance Publicist.

A fresh take on interior design that’s more about creating a space that feels right than just making it look good. Leskowitz brings together her experience as both a designer and a life coach, giving the book a unique perspective on how our living spaces impact our well-being.

What makes this book stand out is its focus on the connection between our homes and our mental and emotional health. It’s not just about decluttering or picking the right colors, though those things are covered. It’s about understanding that the way we arrange and design our spaces can reflect and influence how we feel and who we are.

Leskowitz’s advice is practical but also thoughtful, encouraging readers to explore what they really need from their homes. The book feels less like a how-to guide and more like a conversation with someone who genuinely wants to help you create a space that supports your life.

If you’re looking to make your home more than just a place to live, this book offers some great insights on how to align your space with who you are and where you want to go. It’s a read that leaves you thinking about more than just interior design—it’s about how your environment can help you live better.

OM for the hOMe is not what I was expecting. I thought it would be another book on decorating your home based on someone else’s plan. We’ve all tried the ” do this, not that” way to decorate and then been left feeling like it wasn’t quite right.

Author, interior designer, and life coach Carrie Leskowitz combines all her knowledge to lead you on a journey of self-discovery. The only way to be happy in your home is if it reflects you and your values.

She teaches by way of examples of clients she has worked with, some successfully, others not so much. You have to be willing to learn more about yourself before you know what values you want to be represented in your home. Her case studies were quite eye-opening for me. I’ve been through several of the phases she speaks of and her words reverberated through me.

I can’t wait to tackle several things about my home that make me uncomfortable. But, I’ll be applying Ms. Leskowitz’s principles to my plans this time. I expect better results than ever before.
