About the author

Susan Warner was born in New Bern, North Carolina. These days she lives in the melting pot of the United States, New York. She writes about sweet small-town romance as a way to remember her roots. She has been blessed with four grown children and a man who cares about her enough to understand when the voices start-up in her head, it’s time for her to go to work.
She originally started telling stories to her kids to benefit from learning about country values even though they weren’t raised there. As time went on, she found others who wanted to hear her stories. Stories that believe in the goodness of people, the sanctity of love, and understand that forgiveness and compassion make us better human beings.
When Susan isn’t writing, she reads voraciously, volunteers to help the homeless and animals when she can, and is eternally trying to get the gauge right in her knitting.

I had hopes of liking this story, but I really didn’t. I didn’t really care for the main characters because there wasn’t much too them. Neither Layla nor Nolan felt very real to me and I only kept reading because it seemed that there were a few mysteries that might be interesting. (Hint: One was pretty much given away instantly, another was left and forgotten about, and the other wasn’t really brought up again.) And I wanted to see if Nolan would change his mind about the town and be able to offer a chance to save it. I don’t think he even looked at the town. It felt like all he did was sit in his backyard eating steaks with Layla, or maybe taking walks with her. There were things that just didn’t make sense to me. Several of them actually. And when I reached the ending it fell flat. It was just empty and I didn’t care what happened to anyone.
There are several kisses in this story. This is not a Christian book and there is absolutely NO mention of church, prayer, or anything like that.
Overall, it wasn't awful, and besides the kisses it was clean, but I won't be reading it again or recommending it.

I absolutely loved Layla as she knows exactly what Inheritance Bay means to not only her but others that are embraced by it so Nolan gets a right telling off when he arrives and is put in hi place, however he previous experience with small towns is quiet different to her and hers. I really liked how Layla slowly chipped away at Nolan's gruff exterior while also trying to subtly get the towns people to show how great the place is, all while Nolan is finally learning about his past and what secrets had been kept from him. It was great to see the folks of Inheritance Bay again as well as meeting new people and having a few laughs laughs as well as worry with them as we watch Layla and Nolan fall for each other and see if they can save not only the town but also their budding relationship!

"From the very first chapter I knew that I was gonna love the push and pull of this story. Nolan was a fascinating man easy as that. I wanted to slap and then kiss him. Weird, I know but trust me you'll get why. Talking about adorable things and Princess. Who doesn't love a dog right? They the most beautiful beings in this world. 100 points for the dog. Anyway, back to the story, it wasn't easy for them that's for sure but I really love how they worked things. The end felt abrupt like something else was missing. Not bad but lacking yet, I really like the story."

Layla and Nolan try to fight their chemistry, but the more time they spend together, the harder it gets. An entertaining story with characters you can't help but love. A small town that protects and looks out for their own so of course the town would be suspicious of the new person in town that develops an attraction to one of their own. Small town issues, romance, and drama fill the pages and makes it hard to stop turning each page. An enjoyable read you'll be glad you read.

This small town romance is well worth reading. Layla brings her family to this small town and finds a wonderful excepting town. Nolan is known as the reaper at his firm he comes to town full of prejudice against small towns will Layla make him change his mind.? The characters are engaging and well developed with plenty of a connection to keep me turning the pages.

A bit of honesty here, I wasn’t ready for the story to end. Susan Warner got me all interested in Layla and Nolan and left me without all the answers. I have some and I’m willing to guess about some of the others, but I will be waiting eagerly for the next book. I’ll be glad to come back to Inheritance Bay.

Book two in this series focuses in on potter, Layla and Conner's "spy", Nolan. Each of them has different experiences and ideas regarding small towns, making for an interesting conflict between the two. With engaging backstories and undeniable attraction I enjoyed their battle of wills. I hope to read more about Layla and Nolan's romance. The ending left me wanting more!
