New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Cynthia Eden has a scorching new romance for readers…the dark and dangerous Ramsey is about to have his world shattered.
He doesn’t deserve a second chance.
Second chances and happily-ever-after endings aren’t meant for men like Ramsey Hyde. He’s a criminal mastermind, a cold-blooded heartbreaker, and certainly no one’s idea of a dream guy. Except…once upon a time, this heartbreaker lost his heart.
She can’t remember their time together.
Dr. Whitney Augustine is considered by many to be one of the luckiest women in the world. She survived an attack that should have killed her. But her miraculous rescue came with a twist…she lost the memory of the last six months of her life. Whitney thought that when she returned to her home, her memories would follow…Unfortunately, they didn’t.
He remembers everything about her…
Whitney is desperate to figure out what happened during the missing six months of her life. So desperate, in fact, that she hires Trouble for Hire Private Investigations to help her out. The last thing Whitney expects is to discover that she was spending all of her nights with the most notorious—and dangerous—man in the area, the inscrutable and infamous Ramsey. Surely there is no way that she and Ramsey were involved in some hot and heavy relationship? They are total opposites and…
She’s never fallen for the bad guy before. Just not her usual style.
Whitney is a criminal psychologist. She profiles bad guys. She doesn’t date them. But all of the evidence—and her own wild, undeniable attraction to Ramsey—sure seems to indicate that she may have been involved with the gorgeous bar owner.
But if they were involved, why the heck didn’t Ramsey tell her sooner?
Ramsey has been keeping secrets from Whitney—and keeping a close watch over her. She might not believe it, but he’s trying to do the right thing for once in his life. He’s trying to protect her by keeping his hands off her. But, surprise, surprise, Whitney has her own secrets, too. And when Ramsey learns the life-changing secret that she holds so close to her heart, he will risk everything to claim her.
New plan of attack…
Ramsey has always known he could never, ever be good enough for Whitney…only now things have changed. A target is on her back because others have realized how very important she is to him. Staying away from her didn’t save Whitney before, so now Ramsey will have to step from the shadows as he pulls her into his world. He will surround her with his protection and if he just works hard enough, maybe one day, she will remember him…and maybe, just maybe…she could even love him.
Author’s Note: It’s time for Ramsey to come out and play! Only Ramsey isn’t exactly the kind of guy who plays nicely with anyone. He’s been obsessed with Whitney from the moment they met, and he’s already had to deal with having his heart ripped apart when he thought she’d died. But Whitney is back in his life again, and this time, Ramsey is determined to protect her. Get ready for danger, romance, fun, and scorching hot romance! Ramsey is going to fight—hard and dirty—for the woman he wants.

This one was highly anticipated for me because I love a good amnesia trope. Actually, this had quite a few favorites..Amnesia, surprise pregnancy, Anti-hero and of course the "who done it" aspect. I really like how good this author is at keeping the villain a secret to the last chapter. It's never obvious and that makes the thrill of the hunt fun. Ramsey was a perfect anti-hero. He's not exactly an innocent guy. He has many who fear him and yet he was a total teddy bear to Whitney. And Whitney was very loyal to Ramsey. She never doubted his darker side and had complete faith in him. They made for a great couple.
The spark and interactions between Ramsey and Whitney drew me in. And remains fab in my re-reads. I also like that Whitney has fire and a will of steel. She's a heroine one roots for.
A cosy and comfortable read and re-read that has me happily curling up.
I really enjoyed this fourth book in the Trouble for Hire series. It's staying in my re-read pile.
🌟Brief Summary: This book should be renamed How NOT to write a bad boy criminal….
💔 I was really looking forward to this and it just came up short for me. I found myself bored and not really connecting with the story.
-Ramsey is a gangster bad boy who fell in love with a girl who he shouldn’t have. They plan to run away together and when she doesn’t show he is devastated. Months later he learns she was killed only to show back up alive. Book 2 storylines.
-Whitney has amnesia from her almost death experience but only for the last 6 months so when Ramsey finds out she doesn’t remember him he decides she’s safer and better off without him.
-She wants to fill in the wholes for the last 6 month so she goes on a mission to find out her past. This brings her and Ramsey back in each others orbit only he lies to her and sends her on her way. But does he really let her go?
💯Ugh I didn’t dislike Ramsey at all infact HE WAS VERY SWOON 😍 but gosh CE did you have to keep reminding us how “bad” how “dangerous” Ramsey was. I swear every other sentence and every other person… it’s ALL THEY TALKED ABOUT. Yet we didn’t see it until the absolute end. ‼️It’s was so repetitive in driving this point home that I wanted to pull my hair out. ‼️ And I hate self sacrifice cause it never actually just hurting himself. It hurts her to.
🤦🏼♀️Whitney- I mean did we really get to know that much about her. I didn’t get a Real feel for her outside of her basic obsession to reassure Ramsey that he was “Good” not “Bad”.
‼️I knew who the bad guy was almost immediately so that killed a lot of excitement for me.
‼️I missed the vibe from War and Odins books. The serial killers and the banter and the whole fun vibes from those books were gone. Ramsey was a gangster bad boy 🙄 so there was not much happening at all not even in his world. All we knew was he was changing things to get out and there was a fight club. The rest was just them trying to figure out who was stalking her but EVEN THAT was boring. No suspense or mystery really.
☠️so much Jinx he’s just an annoying character
What I LIKED ✔️War and Odin
✔️The tie ins from past books
✔️He’s Obsessed and SO IN LOVE WITH HER.
🔥They had great chemistry and passion
✔️I’m not a huge fan of the amnesia trope but this was done ok here cause she started to regain her memory.
✔️Surprise Pregnancy…. Not sure I loved this…. If Ramsey had already decided he wanted her back and was gonna tell her the truth BEFORE HE FOUND OUT…. I would have liked this more.
❤️The best part was the ROMANCE. I loved them together they were sweet ….to bad he was so “BAD” and she had to constantly tell him he was “GOOD”…. Cause fuck that took up a lot of their convos and head space . ❤️Loved Ramsey when he finds out the sex of his child
🥀 Hero: Ramsey- the bad boy who constantly sulks about being a bad boy.
I ❤️ that he stayed so true to her even while she was gone. I give him lots of points for his love and faithfulness to her
🦋 Heroine: Whitney- Criminal phycologist She has amnesia from an incident that happened to her in book 2. Her personality was kinda not there. She was all about finding her memories and then her obsession with building up Ramsey.
💭 POV: 3rd person duel
🔥 Burn Rate: Medium sex at 47%
😡/😍 Angst level: Low
❤️🔥 Sexy times & Descriptive sex: Yes and some good sweet sexy times They had good chemistry
🌓 Push/Pull: Yes he pushes her away and lies to her about their past relationship for the first 30%. Not gonna lie I was mad at him cause she was so alone and vulnerable and he kept pushing it to far to long for me with the state that she was in.
☠️ OW/OM Drama: OMD from one of her coworkers he wants her she doesn’t
🤮 OW/OM Sex / Fluid or DNA Exchange: None
🤬 Cheating: None
👰🏼♀️ Virgins: None no real history for either. Not a manwhore but not a saint ❤️BOTH CELIBATE SINCE SHE DISAPPEARED IN BOOK 2… so through their whole separation. In total 4 month.
⛈️Separation/ 3rd Act Breakup: None they are not together for this first 30%
Safety⚠️Triggers🗡️: Stalking Murder Bad boy complex Amnesia Surprise pregnancy Attempted murder Kidnapping
🌈Epilogue: No lead into next book
🥂HEA: HFN It was sweet though
❌My opinion is just that… MY OPINION. I know we all get passionate about our favorite reads and characters but we should respect each opinions a thoughts. ~Thank you

I’ve been wanting and waiting to read this book for so long, so heartfelt gratitude to the author for writing and releasing this book quickly.
Most of all I enjoyed the humor and dialogues of this story. I am so happy that ‘Trouble for hire’ fam is growing. Each one of them are irreplaceable and together they make a dynamite, hilarious team. I loved heroine Whitney and how obsessed Ramsey was with her. I guessed the killer’s identity almost correct. I just wish his motive was a little more solid.
I'm so sad to see this series end! I'm giving this one a 4.5 stars because I wanted him to grovel more and maybe for him to be a bit meaner to our heroine to push her away in the beginning.
Cheating:no Sharing:no OM drama: he got jealous of an old friend of her who is interested in her OW drama: none Sex scene with OM or OW: none Virgin/manwhore: no virgins or manwhore Separation: yes Celibate during separation: yes Condoms: not used HEA: yes! SAFE?: for me, yes.
holy shit i enjoyed this book so much. i wanna eat it up and shit rainbows 🌈
i cannot get over Ramsey and Whitney’s chemistry. it was SIZZZLINGGGGG. like one glance at each other and they were ready to make out. i just love it when i get butterflies in my stomach when reading and this was definitely the case. god the MOUTH on Ramsey was literally so scorching hot, i fell in love with that man myself.
Ramsey is a gangster/felon type who now owns a bar. Whitney is a psychologist who studies people like Ramsey so what happens when she stumbles into his bar and catches the eyes of the big bad wolf 😈 she falls in love with him of course!!!!! i literally loved them from their first interaction. Ramsey was actively trying to get her out of his bar because she looked too pure and innocent to be there 😫😫 then something happens and Whitney loses her memory of the last 6 months, losing all memory of Ramsey too 😭 so she goes through her notes to try to pinpoint who she was seeing before her accident and upon seeing Ramsey again, their chemistry was LIKE NO OTHERRRRR. then Ramsey gaslights her and lied to her that they have never met, never been involved but his man could NOTTTT keep his hands off of her 😝 so i know u LYINNNNN outta ur booty 💁♀️💁♀️
lol, he’s lying because she got hurt because of his bad connections so when she lost her memories, he took that as his chance to let her go to be safe without him even though he’s still in love with her🥹🥹🥹🥹. so yeah this book gave me ALL THE BUTTERFLIES and i have never been so happy to have insects in my stomach!!!
safety: no owd/omd, no virgins, H is a gangster/criminal, serial killer on the lose (h gets hurt and loses her memory by serial killer)
I absolutely LOVED this bad guy...he’s sooo good at what he does!
Ramsey had previously made quite a name for himself. He was one tough guy. Respect and fear followed him due to the way he had created a place for himself in a world that thrives in darkness. His response to Whitney’s presence was the type of thing I crave. When it came time to yield to what he wanted most, he could not be stopped. This hero is fierce in his possessive protection of her.
’”You need to get inside. Someone else could see you…” His voice became even more growly. “Then I’d have to rip the ba$t@rd’s eyes out.”
“Oh, you say the sweetest things.” She rose onto her toes. “Kiss me.”’
Watching Whitney slowly gain her memories was both torturous and amazing! I always enjoy an amnesia story and this one ticked all my boxes when combined with her and Ramsey’s past and present. The fact that she stood up to such a scary dude and never backed down or was intimidated by him, had me cheering her on.
This was one hot, smexy read laced with plenty of danger and suspense. I never knew what was going to happen next as the mystery surrounding this couple slowly unfolded. Having Whitney’s notes was like a tantalizing tease throughout the whole book. And holy heck! The conclusion had me on the edge of my seat and biting my nails. It then switched and I had happy tears (a thing that rarely happens for me with books) streaming down my face because really, all those alpha men and their promise...yeah, that’s the good stuff!
If you want to watch a dark anti-hero lose his heart, Ramsey is your guy!
Kissing her had been a colossal mistake. He’d been weak, and he’d given in to the rough lust he felt for her. Whitney had always been able to break his control.
If Ramsey hadn’t got his HEA there would have been a riot. What can I say he is my favorite so far. I love when a bad guy can be the hero.
His fingers closed around hers. A surge of heat flew from her fingertips all the way through her body. One of those electric jolts that people wrote about in books but that had never happened to Whitney before in her entire life.
He gave me a rose today. It was random, and I just… I love that stupid rose. And why am I including this in my notes? Irrelevant. Completely irrelevant.
Whitney doesn’t remember what happened between them but she is drawn to him. He’s wants to do the right thing and leave her alone but not happening. He realizes that she’s in danger and it’s on!!
When I’m with Ramsey, I feel safer than I’ve ever been at any other point in my life.
He said the tattoo was to remind him that beautiful things had to be held carefully. Treasured.
This story was amazing from start to finish. The ending was a shocker. All our favorites are back to help and some new characters I want to know more about show up.
In Don’t Play With Odin, the heroine’s best friend was nearly killed by a serial killer. She’d been left for dead in the Gulf of Mexico. Whitney didn’t die, but once she was found, the past six months or so were gone from her memory. This is Whitney’s book.
Whitney knows she’s missing something big from her life, even though she doesn’t quite know what. To an extent, that’s to be expected with amnesia, but this is more than that. It’s a feeling that while her friends and family, and even her job have all embraced her as if no time has passed. They missed her and they are so happy she’s alive, that she’s okay, that she’s back. But…she’s not really okay. She’s missing a huge piece of her life. She hires Trouble For Hire, Odin specifically, since he’s her best friend’s man. And while he knows what’s going on, she tells him something that he doesn’t know. She’s pregnant. The baby was conceived before she was dumped in the ocean and nearly drowned. This means that only one person can be the father, and that one person, wants nothing to do with her.
Ramsey has left Whitney alone, knowing that she doesn’t need his kind of trouble in her life. He’s a criminal. Or at least he was. He runs a shady bar in a sketchy part of town, and lots of people are afraid of him. She’s a professor at the local university, she’s respected and well-liked…and she’s too good for Ramsey. When he went to see her in the hospital, she didn’t remember him, and he felt that was his chance to leave her life for the better. But it wasn’t better. She knew she was missing something, and that something was him.
Whitney , in the mean time, has had some roses delivered to her house and to her work, and thinks they’re from Ramsey. Spoiler alert: they aren’t. The main reason Ramsey felt her life would be better with a fresh start, without him, is because he has a lot of enemies who would love to hurt him. If they hurt Whitney, they would truly hurt him. So by staying away, he is protecting her. She just doesn’t know it.
But as they progress, so does the danger. And when the danger becomes something Whitney can’t ignore, or mentally explain away, it’s a good thing Ramsey is there. Little does he know, though, that he’s not alone. He has a team of guys, friends, who want to help. I think my favorite scene was where all the guys are gathered and in the same room, and it’s really touching and sweet. I loved this book, and I loved Ramsey and Whitney (especially after Ramsey got his head on straight and fought for Whitney). This author is always a win for me, and this book was an extra big giant win. I will always read a Cynthia Eden book.
This book may be an amnesia book (not typically my fave), but I feel it was handled really well. I loved how Whitney’s memories came in bits and pieces, or just a hard knowledge of something, even if the memory itself wasn’t there. This felt right for the heroine and right for the story. Cynthia Eden’s books are always well-researched, well-thought out, and well-written. This book is an excellent example of that. I am really looking forward to the next book in the Trouble For Hire series.
The Trouble For Hire series has been such fun to read with its larger than life male characters and this book follows on from Jinx’s story and features his secretive, dangerous brother Ramsey. Ramsey isn’t exactly the life of the party and in fact broody could be his middle name but there’s one thing for sure and that is that he’s one extremely possessive male ! Whitney nearly died but she’s not giving up on life particularly now she’s discovered that she’s pregnant ! A time of joy for most but for Whitney it’s bafflement because she has absolutely no idea who the father is ! Yes amnesia is no joke but trying to retrace her footsteps leads her to the bar where she once struck a bargain with a man unlike any she had known. It’s just too bad that Ramsey wants nothing to do with her because surely he can help her remember ? So if trouble again comes looking for Whitney who will be there to help her ? Her friends at Trouble For Hire maybe but perhaps Ramsey isn’t that far away either ? I really liked that Ramsey and indeed his story felt very different to the other books in this series. Who doesn’t love a secret baby story ? Well honestly I had no idea that I did until I read this but the characters and their unique situation certainly grabbed my attention. Ramsey is a very intense not to mention volatile character but it worked well with his lifestyle and situation. Plus Whitney was the perfect foil as she just pushes through no matter how much he wanted to steamroller over her and indeed absolutely was the perfect woman for this lonely ( he would never admit it ! ) man. I really enjoyed spending time with these characters and even though I looked for obvious signs was still surprised by the grand reveal. Yes there’s perhaps a slight red herring but nothing obvious to show the reader how things might progress. The author clearly hasn’t finished just yet with this world she has created and I very much look forward to reading more. This was steamy, emotional and definitely left me smiling ! This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
Dr. Whitney Augustine had been thought dead, but her miraculous return comes with many questions due to her loss of memory of the last 6 months. Ramsey Hyde had been in love with Whitney, but he knows that she is better off without him until his brother, Jinx tells him that Whitney is pregnant. That changes things for Ramsey, so he decides to protect her whether she wants his help or not. At the same time, Whitney is searching for answers which brings her back to Ramsey's bar where she runs into him again, and this time, she knows that there was more between them than Ramsey will tell her, so she decides that it is time to do some investigating of her own.
Remembering Ramsey is a fitting conclusion to the Trouble for Hire series. Ramsey's character is very clear from previous books as well as this one, while Whitney is still a bit of a mystery. Each chapter begins with notes Whitney had taken prior to her memory loss, but only bits and pieces are still visible, leaving Whitney with just enough information to lead her back to Ramsey. The mystery in this book is fairly predictable, but that doesn't take away from the dynamic, emotional romance between the two main characters. Overall, Remembering Ramsey ends the Trouble for Hire series on a very high note.
Anyone who has been reading this series as [probably been waiting like me for Ramsey and Whitney's story and boy was it worth the wait
Ramsey isn't a good guy but he is also a product of his upbringing willing to do whatever he needs to to keep those he loves safe and that includes Whitney He is determined to push her away thinking she would be better without him. But Whitney has a secret and isn't going to leave him no matter what he does Can they have a future You will have to read to see. This book is the perfect mix of suspense dram and romance and like all Cynthia's books the villain is always well hidden and not discovered in the first few chapters keeping you engaged until the end
Dnfing this. I didn't feel the same excitement as reading the first two and I was really expecting this one to be good, I wanted to read it so badly since in the second book the main mcs were introduced but meh There's an specific thing going on in this one I don't wanna spoil but I didn't like it at all I wanted Ramsey to do something before this issue but🤷 so the whole relationship feels conditioned for me Either way the first two books fulfilled me these past days 🤧
I loved this story as it had the perfect blend of darkness, suspense, angst, heat and sweetness. Not to mention great characters, and even though I figured out early on who was responsible (although it was a pure guess on my part) I did have fun finding out I was right.
We get to read about the mysterious Ramsey. Try as he might, he just can’t stay away from Whitney. We have been given clues about these two in the previous book. Steamy with great chemistry. Lots of action and suspense.HEA.
I think i'm OD'ing on this author's book it's always the same thing over and over. The characters are the same, just the name change. It's really the book to read when you just want to pass the time and not really concentrate on it.
The book was good with an amazing plot. But I knew who the villain was from the start lol.
Ramsey is a bad guy. He is obsessive, controlling. He runs a very shady business but due to his political and police connections has never been convicted. Whitney is a psychologist studying criminal behaviour. They somehow get entangled and their romance starts. Then she was kidnapped and left for dead. And when she came back but had no memory of their time together.
The path of the romance between Ramsey and Whitney is full of twists and serious issues. But it is an exciting journey with a great ending.
‼️No cheating, no ow drama, both celibate during separation‼️
Oh, how I loved this one! I want myself a Ramsey please. 😁 Ms Eden surely knows how to pick her men in her books. Jax and Dex are my most favorite characters, but Ramsey sure is joining them!
In this 4th book of the Trouble for Hire series we get Ramsey and Whitney's story. Ramsey is the owner of a bar and has a reputation as a hardened criminal. Whitney is a criminal psychologist who has survived a horrible attack. She and Ramsey were involved once, but unfortunately she can't remember, having lost the few months of her life after the attack.
She's found some notes she took during her time with Ramsey but due to something that happened her notes are partly unreadable . So she decides to visit Ramsey's bar to try and talk to him to get some answers, which she doesn't get.
So she hires the men of Trouble for Hire to get the answers she seeks. When Ramsey finds out the real reason she is trying to contact him, and when Whitney becomes a target to things from his past, he steps in to protect her and find the culprit.
I really loved this one. It's no secret that I love big, tattoed, protective and grumpy alpha men with a mushy heart and Ramsey is delivering big on this. Whitney is no weak woman either, she goes after what she wants, and that is Ramsey.
What we get is a whole lot of steam, a great plot with a very satisfying HEA.
Ramsey (H) is trying to do the right thing by Whitney (h). In his mind, when she came back from the dead without any memory of him, it was her second chance to live a life free from the dangers of his. Whitney, however, has a secret and it will bring them back together all over again, memories or not.
This may have been rated higher if there was less build up and hype, but ultimately in the wake of the last few books, it fell short for me.
Ramsey was pretty stubborn, and the amount of time he spent fighting everyone and everything got old for me. He definitely had a martyr complex, despite the fact that he was such a “bad” person. Whitney didn’t really have any standout features, partly because she was focused on gaining her memories back, and this meant we didn’t really get to know anything about her beyond her relationship with Ramsey.
For the most part, I was rooting for these two to make it. I didn’t mind the surprise pregnancy, but I did hope for it to be revealed later, AFTER we had seen Ramsey grovel and try to get Whitney back. I also think there needed to be much, much more grovel in general.
Ramsey was supposed to be this super villainy “criminal mastermind”, and yet, he kind of read like a low-level drug dealer to me. I hardly felt like it was justified for him to have been so feared by others. This might not have bothered me so much if the fact that he was such a bad person wasn’t brought up every chapter, but it was. Constantly.
Once they were together, I did really like Ramsey and Whitney. It was evident that their love could withstand anything.
Safety: No virgins. H didn’t seem to be a complete manwhore prior to their relationship, but he did say something along the lines of “a lot of women have slept with me because I’m a bad boy”. Both celibate during separation. No ow or om* drama. *a friend is interested but it’s not returned at all. Very j/p H.
Cynthia Eden originally introduces readers to Ramsey and his girlfriend, Whitney, in her last book, Jinx You’re It. Ramsey has lived on the wrong side of the law for most of his life. On the other hand, Dr. Whitney Augustine is a criminal psychologist who studies “bad guys.” She meets Ramsey when she visits his bar, a den for hardened criminals, to do research on this lifestyle. They fall in love and begin a very intense relationship between these two totally opposite people.
In the last book, Whitney is kidnapped, and Ramsey will do anything, legal and/or illegal, to find her. By the end of that book Whitney is found, but she has amnesia. In this story, Whitney urgently works to find out who she is, who kidnapped her and why.
The only person Whitney feels an affinity with is Ramsey. Thus, she believes he was her lover before she was kidnapped. However, since he believes it is his reputation that was responsible for her kidnapping, he decides to deny their relationship. So he decides the best way he can show his love is to push her away. Unfortunately for Ramsey, Whitney refuses to stay away from him.
However, when Ramsey realizes that Whitney’s life is still in danger, he decides that the only way to protect her is by never leaving her side. Thus they return to being a couple.
The author creates two completely different characters that passionately begin an affair filled with lots of steamy sex. Together, they fight to save their relationship and their lives.
Ms. Eden also skillfully constructs a plot that is action-packed and filled with lots of intrigue. She also, purposely, confuses her reading with many misleading clues.
Readers will have a lot of fun watching the couple try to stay alive as they try to figure out who the villain is.
This book sucked me in, swished me around, and spit me out at the end. I have been looking forward to Ramsey and Whitney's book ever since we heard about her character missing in Maisey and Odin's book. And it was everything I could have wanted for these characters. I dived into the book and didn't come up for air until I was done. A lot of questions were answered and there were a few more were posed by the end of the book for Cyrus. We keep getting glimpses of him and I am glad we will get to learn more about him in the next book.
Ramsey had a difficult childhood and looked to a life of crime to support himself. His brother worked for the government in order to help protect him and keep him out of jail. We find out more about that in this book as well. Ramsey is a good man, he does what is necessary to take care of his family. He keeps those he cares about at an arms length to protect them.
Whitney lost the memories of the six months she was with Ramsey after her abduction. She is trying to get those memories back because of her precious cargo. She goes to Ramsey but he pushes her away so she can have a better life without him. Whitney is perfect for Ramsey, she doesn't take any of his crap nor no matter how scary he tries to appear she is not afraid. The more time she spends with Ramsey the more her memories are starting to come back. They will do what is necessary to protect each other and the Trouble for Hire guys are right there with them for added protection when its needed.
Received ARC in exchange for voluntary honest review
I've really liked Ramsey since we first met him, and I wish there was more detail into "his dealings" ... I get there was SO MUCH but ... you know. >.> I'm curious. However, I did also like that so much of the focus was on the romance and relationship of Whitney and Ramsey. <3 [I ... as soon as he spoke to her I knew who the baddie was. But... you know.] EVEN SO IT WAS ENJOYABLE!
I was discussing it with Laura Hunsaker - how well the amnesia is handled AND the "grey character" Ramsey. Although - I think it's more he's a dynamic character? We knew from the previous books he was already working to go legit ... NEVERTHELESS he's willing to go a lot darker/deeper than your "usual" hero. >.> Although although if you've read the Townsend books by Tiffany Patterson 😅 you might be like "pfft" - funny the Townsends business[es] are all on the up and up - but :X how they handle the guys harassing their loves. Oof.
Back to the "Edenverse" - I LOVE ME A SMITTEN HERO. LOVE LOVE LOVE. And I liked how ... I mean Whitney was SUPER "chill" about her situation; and I think the thing is we see her [a month or so?] after she was found. - or longer - like SOME PERIOD where she's had time to try to adjust. You definitely feel the gravitas of everything but there isn't wangst, which I definitely appreciate. ... I think I need to re-read it to decide on 3-4 stars .... but yeah!
And it was nice seeing the other characters, and Aspen <3 AND DARIUS! I WANT HIS HEA! :D :D :D
:X Cyrus - I guess I'm less excited about his book but I'm sure Eden will make it work.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "REMEMBER RAMSEY" Cynthia Eden never disappoints I love the "Trouble For Hire" series always interesting, entertaining, suspense filled drama, with danger, steam, twists that make for addicting reads. Ramsey Hyde is a criminal mastermind, dangerous, moody, dark, he's Jinx's brother his heart was broken once he never got over her. Dr. Whitney Augustine is a criminal psychologist who is a very luck woman to be rescued from a serial killer but she's lost last 6mos. of her memory, finds herself pregnant & doesn't know who the father is. Whitney desperate to get answers goes to Trouble For Hire Private Investigations to get there help she didn't expect to find out she'd been with a notorious, dangerous, man named Ramsey Hyde. Ramsey has secrets he's been keeping since Whitney's attack he's been watching over her keeping his distance knows he's not good for her but what happens when he finds out her little secret will stay away or do whatever he has to protect her. I defintely recommend to get this extremely well written interesting, intriguing, suspense filled second at love romance I love Ramsey & Whitney's story. AWESOME AWESOME READ.
DNF'd at 35%, unfortunately. I've really enjoyed the other books in the series but this one just didn't catch me.
Ramsey felt one-note and unnecessarily conflicted. Lots of big talk about how horrible he was without a lot to back it up. Whitney at one point accuses him of giving her whiplash and boy did I feel that.
I was nervous about Whitney being a criminal psychologist and rightly so. The author tried to do a weird balance between Whitney having all this knowledge and experience while also being naive. It didn't work. Her decision to do some observational learning at Ramsey's bar was bizarre. Her pregnancy also felt like an afterthought. Being pregnant is kind of a whole body/mind experience and other than occasionally putting her hand on her stomach it didn't seem to impact her much. No mention of nausea, fatigue, excitement, parenting nerves or anything else of that ilk. The last straw was when she had a glass of "sweet wine" (maybe that's some kind of non-alcoholic beverage I'm unaware of?). She'd opted for water earlier in the book, but it was apparent that her pregnancy was a total afterthought to the author.
Remember Ramsey Cynthia Eden’s fourth book in the Trouble for Hire Series is one of second chances when you don’t believe you deserve it story. Sometimes a person is wrong in believing that they are not worthy of another chance, Ramsey Hyde is such a person. It seems like a coincidence too good to be true when Dr. Whitney Augustine comes to Trouble for Hire Private Investigations for help. She doesn’t remember Ramsey but he never forgot her.
It has been a long while since I have read a story dealing with amnesia so this was a welcome read. Ramsey may seem like an anti-hero since he has a past that is the opposite of what we think of in a hero yet he wears the title well in this story. He is determined to protect Whitney no matter what. I enjoyed the characters and the whole plot from beginning to the very end making him a hero in her eyes and mine too.
An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
He knows he should stay away. He knows that he is no good for her. She deserves someone kind, someone without his dark past. Ramsey Hyde had to grow up tough and work for everything he has. His bar is filled with those that need a place to go, a place of darkness. When Whitney Augustine showed up at his bar, he should have sent her away, but she brought lightness into his world. For awhile she was his, then she was gone and he felt broken. Now she is back after surviving what should have killed her. He tries to force her away, until he learns her secret, a secret that brings him hope and another chance to be hers. When her home is attacked, he knows that someone is after him and that if they harm her, they destroy him. He will not let that happen and will take down anyone who gets in his way. An electrifying romantic suspense by Ms. Eden that will keep you engaged until the final, thrilling conclusion. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
So if you've been reading the Trouble for Hire Series and you've come this far, you're probably like me and couldn't wait to read Ramsey's story and let me say, it did not disappoint! I know Ramsey was written as a scary, dangerous character, but I fell in love with him when I found out he was Jinx's brother and all he went through. This story moves and never stops! If you've enjoyed the previous 3 books, you're going to love Remember Ramsey. Ms. Eden has given us everything we've been anticipating and more. She does an awesome job of writing her heroines with spunk and sass and bravery and Whitney's character is no exception -- I loved this girl! There's always a twist or two, lots of drama and mystery and combustible chemistry between the two main characters. And I'm a sucker for the amnesia trope! Another excellent romantic suspense from Cynthia Eden. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.
