This is Book 1 of a 4-part completed series called, “The Love Series.”Be sure to read ‘The Love Series’ in full ♥️:Book 2: A Love Like This, Part 2Book 3: A Love of my OwnBook 4: A Collection of Love Poems
Whew did the past bite Wesley in the aśs or did it bite him in the asś 😩😩 lawd that cliffhanger caught me all the way off guard!
Wesley and Serenity were an unconventional pair! She was a beautiful, successful, down to earth career woman and Wesley was an R&B phenom. When their paths crossed, the chemistry was almost instant however the timing was off!
Overtime this pair had their fair share of ups and downs but when it was all said and done, they always found their way back to each other. Wesley knew he wanted Serenity but he needed to mature first and Serenity was not about to allow him to make a fool of her while he got himself together! Just when they were on the same page, the ghost of thot buckets past came and threatened their future however unlike Casper but the news wasn’t friendly AT ALL!!
This was a very mild read with minimal angst and minimal sex 🥴 I honestly don’t think this book needed to be a series…. I need to listen to book two before I make a full determination but this book was reeealllly drawn out and I’m sure books one and two could have been one book! It was a cute story nonetheless and I’m looking forward to the conclusion!
Wesley Johnson, Jr is a rich and handsome well known playboy R & B singer songwriter that's never been in love until he meet Serenity. Serenity is a financial advisor and when her and Wesley, Jr. paths cross it's an immediate attraction. When their paths cross for the second time, he knows that he wants her. Now that he has the chance of dating her, the couple are plagued with obstacles that threaten to ruin what they're trying to build. Jakobi Diem and J. Shani Michaels do a great job with the narration of my first book from this author. Now, I can't wait for part 2 because....unfortunately folks it's a cliffhanger.
I absolutely hate when authors try and stretch a storyline to make 2 books just to get more money. Ms Montague is obviously a good writer however the last 30% of this book was just fluff. Which lets me know that book 2 is going to continue with the fluff. That’s why a good editor is necessary. People think that editing means running a spell and grammar check and that’s it. No, they’re also supposed to help the author with the flow of the book. How can we get across what we need to, in as concise a manner as possible. It’s no way that this should be a series. It makes me wonder if all of these reviews are authentic or what? I can’t be the only person that sees that this is BS. Also, I suspect that Ms. Montague is going to flip the script with Julian I book 2 and make him do something that goes against his personality traits. I hate that. Why have us start off liking him and then turn him into something he’s not just for the sake of drama for book 2? These authors really need to do better! If we stopped buying these series then I bet they would write more standalones.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ This had potential but there were a lot of parts I didn’t like. First I’m not sure if it’s just me but I didn’t really feel no chemistry between Wesley and Serenity. I thought she was gonna end up with Sean or Julian I would have been happier with that. I don’t normally read synopsis I just straight up into the book so I didn’t know that Wesley would be the main MC. There was also so many errors and the way the book was set up on my end was not great. I don’t normally care for errors and when I see people address them I normally don’t agree but I can see why it would bother someone so much. Then again I am not an editor nor am I an author so this is just my opinion. The plot was good I feel like Jillian coming back the night before her wedding shouldn’t even be in there as well as other parts. There was a lot of unnecessary scenes and drama that I feel shouldn’t be in the book. Overall the book was good. However, won’t finish the series.
OMG!! That’s all I can say about Wesley and Serenity ❤️ Kya Montague You hooked me with this one. It’s 2:30 in the morning and I have a 9:00a.m appointment n the morning. I just want you to know I’m lying here trying really hard not To start reading Part 2 of this beautiful love story.
For those of you who may be considering this book let say by all means read it! Just make sure you have book two close by because The only spoiler I’m going to give you is that book one ends in a cliff hanger. But again book 1/ Part 1 is so worth the time and Read
I want to thank and applaud you Kya Montague, for your artistry of being able to craft a story with so much ,emotion ,feeling ,passion, drama and levity without being overly profane or erotic. Yet all of those things were felt as I read this lovely story for what it’s worth you have won your self a new fan 😊. Keep using your gift of mastering the vocabulary to expand on the Gift and talent you have be been blessed with. I look forward to reading a lot more of your Work( as soon as I finish Part two of this series) 😂❤️❤️
Where do I even begin. Wow. This was such a beautiful love story with just the right amount of drama.
I related to this so much because my husband was my long time crush as well and I know the feeling of actually getting together with your dream man 🥰🥰🥰
The effort, patience, and consideration for one another was sooo good! I also loved the fact that the MMC was an R&B singer. So cool hearing about him with his group and working in music.
The exes got on my LAST NERVES and the way it ended🤦🏾♀️🙄🫠🥹🙃🤔 my emotions are all over the place!
I NEED to know how this ends. Cause chiiillllleeeeee smh wow.
Serenity had been laying, low in terms of dating , relationships, intimacy and etc, but she got from 0 to 2 in no time when she finally decides to take a chance again. Julian would have been a good choice but I felt like there was something not right about him although he treated her good alway but she wanted Wesley and vice versa. The relationship had some ups and downs but nothing major but reading about this romance was definitely worth it. I hope Amaya and Darren get together, and let's not forget the awesome parents on both side
Jakobi did a great job as usual keeping me interested. This was a bit different as they were not jumping into bed with one another. They actually built bonds getting to know each other. I’d read part 2.
Rating 3.5⭐️ Aww Wesley… whew, this situation had me on edge. From the beginning, I just knew something was going to happen it didn’t feel like Wesley and Serenity were going to make it to happily ever after without storms brewing. And I was right.
What I love most about Serenity is the way she holds firm to her boundaries. She doesn’t fold, she doesn’t beg, she stands in her worth, even when it hurts. That strength made me root for her every step of the way. Wesley, on the other hand, had me in my feels because his heart was so genuine but he was messing up on little things. Even with that Wesley had me hopeful at the same time that he was going to continue to show up bare. He’s a man caught between love and the actions of a previous lover and his journey kept my heart racing.
This story felt raw and unpredictable. It gave me romance, tension, heartbreak and the kind of moments that make you sit back and say, “Now this is real life.” Kya Montaque knows how to write characters that pull you in and don’t let go.
I can’t wait to see where Part 2 takes us, because one thing’s for sure love like this isn’t simple, but it’s worth the fight.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I really enjoyed listening to this story, it was cute and low angst and felt very relatable
A love like This part 1 follows Wesley & Serenity. Wesley is a popular R&B singer who is in a relationship at the time he met Serenity. Serenity is a financial adviser/real estate agent who is a longtime fan of the artist. After their run in, they start to slowly get to know each other, and Serenity is unlike any woman he has ever met. He is able to be vulnerable and just be himself without the celebrity status.
While there was conflict, I felt like the story was still giving cozy read, their dates together, their chemistry could be felt. I love that Serenity was celibate, and the story showed her dating in a healthy way for months. It was a slow burn but was worth it.
Now the plot twist and ending I felt like could have all been wrapped up in one book, but It will be interesting to see where the story goes, as I saw that book 2 is the same length.
This was such a great read! Serenity had been in love with superstar Wesley Johnson Jr since he first came on the scene at 16, now adults, they meet quite by accident at a fundraiser and shortly thereafter they are dating. The past keeps trying to rear its ugly head but they finally make it to wedded bliss. What will happen with this new shocking news is yet to be seen. Also Security Julian from Serenity's job is another person who seems a little over the top! I can't wait to see how this all turns out! Great job Kya Montague!
Kya Montague, good read. First read by you for me. I'm loving book 1 can't wait for book 2, why can't people just be ok where they are? When they have a gem in their hands and break it then come back and thinks it's ok is not ok. Trouble don't last always but lord while it's going on. Westley is such a great guy, and Serenity is such a good woman. Their journey is one with some bumps along the way but it seems true love hopefully w ill be enough and this last trick won't break them up. 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Slooooow burn but a good story. Definitely ends on a cliffhanger. Let me just say that I don’t trust Candice, Julian, or Sean. Since Julian has his own book I’m guessing he is a legit guy. Weird but hopefully he isn’t stupid enough to try something. The lengths people will go to get what they want. Anyway, I love how they waited until marriage and I hate how right after they got home the drama began. Guess it’s on to book 2!
Your childhood crush becomes your lover is every girls dream come true. Serenity met her crush and they went from friends to lovers. The ride wasn’t a smooth one with outside forces of Candice and Julian trying to get in the way! They made it down the aisle to their special day! But, one letter received when they back from their honeymoon could destroy their wedded bliss!
I really enjoyed this book. I love how true to herself Serenity was. She knew what she wanted and needed and refused to settle for less. Wesley was perfect for Serenity. I applaud how he learned from his mistakes and did better with his second chance. I can’t wait to see what’s next in part 2.
The story was amiable and had just a little bit of drama. Overall, this first-time story was very good, with likable characters and a good storyline. The limited intimacy until the end of the story wasn't too bad. I just wish the clingy hanging on girlfriend trope is annoying. But even with that, this was overall a good story.
Falling in love was the impossible for Serenity and Wesley since they were both damaged. But who knew a chance encounter would lead them to what they finally come to know as love. Will their new love stand the trials and tribulations that keep coming at them?
This one was kind of slow for me. Very uninteresting in the beginning. I didn’t like how she handled Julian. Didn’t really get super interesting until like chapter 25. I also didnt like that the story was stretched into another book. After finishing this one, i wasnt compelled to read part 2. It was really just kind of Blah for me. ☹️
This series should be one book, without all the random unnecessary filler & inconsequential events. This story was long and drawn out for no reason, this couple spent damn near no time together the whole book & then got married. I will not be following up with this couple.
This book was sooooooo good.……. It will take you through every emotion there is. I was happy, confused, frustrated, ready to fight, EXTREMELY MAD, ready to fight again and nervous. I could have thrown my device across the room a couple of times. I can’t tell you how many times I found myself with my mouth wide open. SMH…… I could not put this one down. Well done Kya. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I fully expected this to be a standalone series, so imagine my surprise when I got to the end?! I really like the characters and there are a few people who I expected standalones for so I’m kinda bummed that’s not the case. Honestly, I don’t think this needed to be a continuous series, it could’ve simply been one book. I’m still looking forward to what’s coming though.
This book was worth me staying up all night to read. I pulled me in like was there witnessing everything unfold. I can’t wait to find out what happens next in book 2.
I’m glad she is with Wesley instead of julian because he seems like a stalker but seem like they can’t catch a break without somebody trying to interfere with something good.
Finding the one that loves you for you. Then to have that love challenged by people that just want access to you or what you can do for them. I am so ready to read this whole series to see how it plays out.
