Are you a hero or a villain? Pick your path in this action-packed, illustrated origin story where the reader - yes, that means YOU! - gets the power of flight and must decide, choice by choice, whether to use their abilities for good or evil.
You thought you were in for an ordinary summer at science camp - that is, until you sneak into an off-limits area of the Center for Avian Science, get your hand pecked by a weird bird, and suddenly gain the power of flight! Now it's up to you to decide how to use the power: Will you fly out at night to save the day? Will you team up with the villainous Dr. Zeus, who bred the mutant bird and wants to take over the world with its powers? Or will you make the wrong choice and meet an ill-fated end?
Follow the choices, pick your path, and fly toward your fate. This looks like a job for Super You!

Not a Muslim book or one with Muslim characters but a pick-your-own adventure superhero book by a Muslimah author!
Genre: MG chapter book (with doodles/drawings) Ages: 8-12 Available: amazon- releases in May
Screening: Dr.Zeuss is mentioned to be named after a greek god. Nothing really significantly unclean
YOU, dear reader, are the main character of the book. You are on a science trip with your class and partnered with Alex, when she suddenly goes into a secret room to look at a strange bird. When the bird scratches you both, you leave…but after a fever and sleep, you wake up with powers. The power of FLIGHT.
With the power of flying, you have lots of decisions to make- will you choose good, evil, riches, or crime? So many decisions, so many endings, and honestly…so much FUN to just muddle through!
I counted over 35 different endings!! The book truly twists and turns so much and there are so many decisions to make that keep the reading fun and engaging. I wouldn’t necessarily say that the book teaches any moral lessons, although the good endings did seem mostly to be the result of good choices, the book did have some unexpected bad results from good intentions at times.
Overall, such a fun read and very engaging for young readers who like superheroes. Super clean, but no Islam or any religious content in the book.
I don’t know how this book isn’t more well known. My students fight over the chance to read this.
Everyone wants superpowers and in Super You my students have a chance to feel like they really do! Choose your own path books are a staple of every reader’s experience and this book has easily become one of my favorites. Hena Khan blends the adventure of comic books with the perfect amount of humor and drama. The amount and uniqueness of different paths and endings has my classroom buzzing with which ending they hope for (most of which trying their hardest to earn the villain ending).
Super You! Power of Flight reminded me of the pick-your-own-adventure books I read growing up. The nostalgia factor made me smile.
As is customary with any pick-you-own-adventure story, the plot and characterizations aren't super deep since the authors have to juggle all of the reader's choices. Overall, it was a fun, quick way to pass the afternoon.
Cautions: Like other pick-your-own-adventure novels, several of the endings end in presumed death, with no details. These endings include falling, drowning, and being trapped in a burning building.
If you loved reading the "choose your own adventure" books when you were younger, you're going to enjoy this book. I personally loved the choose your own adventure books, so I enjoyed this book. I think kids will be attracted to this book more than the classic books we read as kids.
Such a fun read! I love that the choices take the reader all throughout the book and you really don’t know where the story will end. I can’t wait to read the other books in the series and to book talk the pick your path books to my students!
