Stylish Sinclair Llewelling has little contact with his family, but he loves his cousin Lilly very much, and agrees to help her plan the elegant country wedding of her dreams. There’s just one problem: the foreman of the ranch where the wedding is to take place.
Former rodeo cowboy Dawson West takes his job very seriously, and he doesn’t appreciate anyone who gets in the way. Ranching is in his blood, and the people he works for are like family to him, so when Sinclair and his plans add to his work, he isn’t quiet about making his displeasure known.
Sinclair and Dawson have more in common than they realize, including a strong work ethic, horses, and spines of steel. Their fighting shifts to mutual respect, and heat flares as they see past each other’s walls to the men beneath. Just as Sinclair is getting a taste for ranch life, problems at his late father’s business pull him away from the cowboy who has lassoed him in. They’ll need to team back up to balance jobs, ranch, wedding, and what their hearts want.
Ranch outside of Dallas, TX. The owner is retiring and big changes are due, plus the wedding is being held there. Dawson is the foreman of the cattle ranch and happy in his work. He's got short dark hair, brown eyes, is tall, muscled and stern. He's not interested in the wedding when there is work to do. Sinclair, blue-eyed, beautiful, slim and sassy, a wealthy man, who now runs his Dad's company and has his own charities. He's helping his cousin, the bride, Lilly, who is marrying Ben.
Dawson and Sinclair create sparks and anger, but later they calm down and learn about the other, understand their strife and get along. Then the hot, scorching sex is overwhelming them, and both want more.
It's a three month journey to the wedding and we see lots of interaction with the characters. Wedding plans and Sinclair's business issues are in the forefront. Dawson's a good listener. Sinclair is strong in his convictions. Dawson only knows ranching, which he loves.
By the time the wedding day comes, these two strong men are a couple, thrilled yet worried of what will happen when Sinclair goes back to Houston.
The characters are believable, realistic, and vivid. The budding romance is super sexy, and the story is all kinds of interesting. I love Andrew Grey's books. ENJOY ! =====
I actually liked this couple a lot more than I did the first one and I felt the potential for a lengthier, more in-depth story was really there, but in so many ways the author just re-used ideas from the previous book and didn't really bring a satisfying ending. Well, at least for my taste.
🟣 Small town romance 🟢 Cowboy foreman/city trust fund baby 🔵 We don't know how old they are, I'm guessing late 20's 🟡 Ky's aunt's ranch 🟠 A poodle 🌶️ One short descriptive sex scene, the rest FTB; t/b
Sinclair first sounds like a spoiled, stereotypical city guy who hates horse shit and drives a fancy Lexus in the countryside, but I was glad to see there was more depth to him.
"They all chuckled as Sinclair sat back, contented. These men were uncomplicated, and they tended to say things the way they were. There weren’t games or a million complications with them. What you saw was what you got, and Sinclair liked that."
Looking at what Sinclair's character was like and how Dawson liked it and in general liked big and strong guys more than twinks, but very much appreciated Sinclair's assertiveness - one would think that maybe the author would go with a different dynamic in the bedroom, but as it is, it's apparently self-explanatory that the thinner, shorter guy will bottom in every book.
Sinclair meshed really well with Dawson, the sturdy, serious cowboy who's a foreman on Rita's ranch and is really not closeted, but keeps to himself, doesn't go out much, would like a serious relationship but nothing ever works out for him, so when he gets involved with Sinclair, they have a kind of an effortless chemistry going on and they're trying to see if maybe all this could be something more.
I really liked both Dawson and Sinclair - especially Dawson - and their story, based on what was written, demanded more to be said. There's a lot more to both their stories so to cut it short with a quick, very abrupt ending followed by a too-soon "I love you", just wasn't it.
There was also a completely identical scene of them going to that water creek, commenting on how cold the water was, this time there was talk of a pool, not the dam, and then kissing and going back home. Identical scene was in Ky and Brodie's book.
Both main characters are definitely memorable but the story wasn't as good or well developed.
This is the sequel to a lovingly developed first book and this one is very different in venue, characters and plot. But it fits right in because Andrew Grey mixes and matches some folks from the first book and all is honky dory at the end.
Dawson the deeply closeted ex-bull rider turned ranch manager and Sinclair the openly gay stylist get themselves into a tizzy from the start when Sinclair decides that the ranch would be the perfect place for him to stage the wedding of his darling cousin Lilly. These two engage in a few pushes and pulls and other pseudo tugs-of-war for a while until one day they manage to communicate.
After that the plot twists and turns mostly because Foster and Sinclair reveal to each other how completely different their public personas are from their actual life histories. Then we are entranced into a lovingly detailed romance that becomes stronger with each internally or externally generated obstacle.
This one moves along sweetly for a Texas ranch romance and we get hints here ad there that there might be another in this series coming along. If so, I'll just get on board and yell "giddy yap!"
Dawson West is your stereotypical Texas Cowboy; competent and silent, with a propensity to be a loner. He’s worked his way up to foreman on the ranch that he’s made his home since he was a kid. As a kid his own home life wasn’t so great. But even few of those he calls friends, know that much about him. But the good person underneath is evidenced by his dog, a toy poodle that he rescued when she was a stray pup.
Sinclair Llewelling inherited his dad’s Texas Oil equipment business when the old man passed. He’s been running it, though he doesn’t really see himself as a businessman. When the “old guard” from his dad’s firm don’t seem to really understand his dad’s secrets to success, he keeps getting drawn into the business.
When these two men, who are both used to getting their own way meet, one foresees fireworks on the horizon, and yet there is that mutual attraction…
This novella is book two in the series that began in Nowhere to Ride series. While many of the characters from book 1 do make cameo appearances here, this is basically a stand-alone tale. Again, the couple are both decent good guys, and their coming together is interesting to see. Both characters are believable and easy to care about. I’ve always thought of tales by Andrew Grey as comfort reads. This is another of those homespun tales where not too much happens – other than two good guys meeting and realizing that they fit together. And how can anyone object to more of that?
An adorable poodle mix rescue furbaby? ✅ An adorable grumpy cowboy? ✅ An adorable bride to be? ✅ (Yeah, I bet you didn't see that one coming, did ya?) LOL!!!
But, sadly, we didn't get any Emily time, so... NO adorable 5-year-old... :(
There was a little bit of snark, Sinclair excels at this! A little bit of growling, that would be Dawson! Of course, there was a little bit of drama because where there is family, there is drama... and we have to mention the little bit of sexy times... ok, let's be honest, there was quite a bit of sexy times, but not enough to be annoying! *grin*
The books in this series have been short, but entertaining reads and I look forward to reading Nowhere to Run at my first available opportunity!
Dawson West, foreman, leads a quiet and busy life supervising activities on the ranch. One day, city person Sinclair Llewelling, shows up with his cousin to help her plan her wedding. They consider the ranch as a possible venue. Immediately, Sinclair raises Dawson's hackles, as he is busy with work on the ranch and the unease of the attraction they feel for each other. Can the two, who come from such different backgrounds, find common ground and love?
This book is another solid, low-angst read from Andrew Grey. While nothing too unexpected happens, it is more about the steady and growing love that two men have for each other, as they explore their relationship and work through obstacles. Comfort reading.
I read most everything from this author but this one felt off to me. I didn't get any of the emotions of the characters. Everything just felt lackluster and out of step.
Dawson is the foreman of Rita’s ranch and takes his work seriously. When Rita agrees to let Lilly and Ben host their wedding on the ranch, Lilly’s cousin Sinclair agrees to help with the arrangements. Sparks fly between Sinclair and Dawson – both the good and uncomfortable kind – but each have some serious reasons to not want to get too involved. Can they figure out a way to handle their attraction?
After really enjoying the previous story in this series (Nowhere To Ride) I was eager to jump right in to this second offering. I was particularly pleased that – other than the setting and many of the characters being the same – there was absolutely no strong ties between this story and the previous one. Readers can be sure they could pick this book up and enjoy it without any prior knowledge, the story and characters stand very well on their own. I also enjoyed the fact that it was clear from the beginning that both Sinclair and Dawson have numerous layers to them and each had a bit of baggage from their past that needed dealing with. I felt this really added depth and complexity to the story and the plot really sang with it.
Dawson is very much a quiet, strong willed cowboy but I was pleased that he wasn’t stubborn to the point of stupidity. I feel a strength and some level of stubborn is really good in a character, particularly a cowboy, but it never reached pig-headedness or the level where Dawson was merely being obstinate. He was willing to bend and compromise and that just made things so much better to my mind. I also appreciated how at first glance Sinclair might appear to be the slick city-boy, he wasn’t afraid of a bit of work and he, too, was willing to listen and change his mind under the right circumstances. It meant there was plenty of friction between the two men but also there was a willingness to work together and compromise which I feel really boded well.
The pace of the story was delightful for my tastes – slow enough that it felt believable that the two men could edge together and not be too put off by their strong differences, but also not so slow that I wanted to skim or jump ahead to something a bit hotter. I feel the author did an excellent job balancing out the story along with the chemistry and this story really had emotion and connection in spades. I feel readers looking for a steamy M/M cowboy romance should absolutely be satisfied with both the plot and romance aspect to this book.
Steamy and sensual, but with a good plot and layered characters this was a wonderful read that ticked all the right boxes for me. I’m eager to read more by this author.
Sinclair lives and works in Houston but he's helping his cousin Lily organize her wedding to Ben who's Ky, from Nowhere To Ride's foreman. At first Sinclair and Dawson who's Rita, Ky's aunt's foreman, don't get on well because Sinclair deliberately gets under his skin. It was funny and I couldn't help but laugh.
Then Sinclair showed up to apologize with dinner. That changes things for them for a bit until work calls Sinclair away and Dawson's past experiences with relationships and hos family have him thinking that's it, but that thinking is changed with a talk from Rita.
Really loved what Dawson does to show Sinclair he wants things to work. Wedding was great. Glad we got see ones from book one. Sex was hot but sweet.
This is book two in the Nowhere to Ride series and I do recommend you read book 1 first, though it is written well enough you can probably enjoy it on its own. The characters from the first book are in this quite a bit and the story is about a merger from the first book. I loved this book, though I have yet to read a bad Andrew Grey and I love Cowboys. I liked grumpy Dawson. I adored Sinclare. This was a very good opposite attract-type story. The characters are interesting and the storylines are good. If you like cowboys, businessmen, wealthy/poor, city boy/country boy and opposites attract with a low heat rating you will love this. I highly recommend it.
Dawson, ranch foreman is told by his boss that they are to host a wedding for friends. Dawson likes Lily and Ben but Lily's cousin, Sinclair who is planning a cowboy wedding for her is really Irritating and demanding. Dawson is serious about ranch work and doesn't want the hassle this event is causing. Of course we see the hassles in the lives of both of these two strong men get worked out but the fun is seeing and rooting for them. This is a delightful, well written romance with the authors trademark HEA.
Love the narration from Marcus Barton, who brings the drama, romance and characters to your ears. Perfect.
Dawson is the ranch foreman. He is one grumpy man. His boss tells him that a wedding is to held at the ranch. The wedding is for Lilly and Ben. Sinclair inherited his father’s business. Sinclair is planning a cowboy wedding for Lilly and is driving Dawson mad with his demands. her is really Irritating and demanding. Both men are strong and stubborn. Loved how these two find their way to each other.
Sinclair a spoiled rich boy who inherited his father’s business has only one relative that he loves, his cousin Lilly. Dawson West, a former rodeo cowboy, has only known marital problems from observing his parents. Their different lifestyles make Dawson believe that he isn’t good enough for Sinclair. I love the way misconceptions affect them and realizations come to the pair about their relationship and their respective jobs.
I loved this book , didn't put it down until I finished it. Dawson and Sinclair were a match made in heaven. The way Sinclair took on Dawson was he needed . They were both searching for Mr. Right . Both were strong headed men , but we're so different. Love does win every time even when you don't expect it. Would definitely recommend this series to all my family and friends to read.
Well, danged........they made it through that mess!
A big wig businessman and a no barred cowboy who figured would get together over a country wedding. At first, it wasn't easy and heads butted, gradually for the couple getting married, Sinclair and Dawson got everything Ben and Lilly wanted and more for their special day. Of course, Dawson and Sinclair got something special between the two of them out of the ordeal! THANK YOU ANDREW! ANOTHER GREAT STORY! ENJOY!
Can city slicker Sinclair overcome cowboy Dawson's self-doubt? That's what Sinclair calls "assholeness." And can Sinclair manage to organize the perfect country wedding for his cousin Lilly as well, all while keeping control of an unruly corporate board of directors a few hundred miles away? Read this to find out.
Though enjoyable, not as good as book one. The opposite attract trope... just didn't feel authentic, nor does this slip into an enemies to lovers. Dawson, Rita's ranch manager, butts heads with Lilly's cousin, Sinclair, as they try to plan her wedding.
KU, contemporary, cowboys, blue and white collar, older MCs.
I've read a few of this authors works and always enjoyed them, this one was no exception. Here have a young lady planning her wedding, a loving cousin helping, lots of cowboys and, regrettably, one old homophobic arsehole. It's a sweet but slightly angsty tale but with a god dollop of sexiness included at no extra cost.
A well written romantic short story. Good character development for the length of the story. Some supporting cast appear from the previous installment in the series, but the story stands well enough on its own. Ends promising a f
Nowhere to Hide was sweet but the next chapter Nowhere to Ride takes the world Andrew Grey built to the next level. If this book doesn't put a smile on your face then you have a stone for a heart
This was a great fun read. These two opposites were fun to watch. The bickering between them was almost comical. To watch them come together was fun, beautiful, sexy…. Oh so very sexy and the HEA ~ perfect.
It was a great. Second part of the 3 Books it was most likely a dual romantic story that has a lot of felling and family stuff and love the Story line of the family that started the Whole series of the books
Another great book from Andrew Grey! I would definitely recommend this one! Andrew Grey tells a story that draws the reader in and once the hook has gotcha, you can't stop reading until you finished the book. Looking forward to the third edition!
If you like sexy cowboys, horses, dogs or barbecue, this story has them all. Enjoy how Sinclair and Dawson come to work together, face challenges, go all out for Lilly and Ben’s wedding, and savor their own steamy moments thoroughly!!!
I read romance novels for a laugh or the occasional insight into how present culture thinks. I still find gay romance hard to believe, but I'm not part of that community. It's well thought out. Reads easily.
3.5 Stars ~ I enjoyed this novella even better than the first in the series. Dawson is a great character but Sinclair really knocks it out of the park. Very enjoyable!
